Did you know that fear or anxiety and thanksgiving can't scientifically coexist together in your mind? That means that there is great power in professing and ruminating on the things that we are grateful for. When we know where our fear begins, we can pinpoint it and then begin to attack it practically, based on instructions in scripture. Fear can be contagious and overwhelming, but when you can learn to take every thought captive and confess the truth of God's word, that fear can change into faith. One of the most consistent themes we keep returning to is the theme of daring to take great risks. There's something hardwired in so many of us that want to avoid risks at all costs, so we create lives that are routine, consistent, and safe. The problem is, as the famous quote says, we can easily slip into “leading lives of quiet desperation”, and miss out on who we're meant to be. For me, it often takes seeing a real-life example of what an adventurous life looks like that knocks me out of my self-preservation orientation. Charlotte Gambill is that person for me. With over 25 years in church leadership, Charlotte has committed her life to teach, train and invest in others with a passion to see each person connect with their God given purpose. Both locally and globally she has become a sought-after speaker and teacher. From training teams to helping bring strategic leadership and discipleship in a variety of church settings across the world. She is also the founder of Cherish women's conference, a global gathering of women and has launched We Are One and the Cherish foundation initiatives that are bringing the power of kindness into the most broken of places. Author of 14 books, co-founder of the Dare To Be movement, teaching pastor at Church of the Highlands, USA. Charlotte also serves alongside her husband Steve leading Life Church with five campuses across Europe. Her deepest joy in all of this is building her family first. Happily married to Steve for over 25 years they have two teenage children Hope Cherish and Noah Brave. Charlotte Gambill leads Life Church alongside her husband Steve with five campuses across Europe. The author of 14 books, founder of Cherish women’s conferences and The Collective, and co-founder of the Dare To Be movement with Natalie Grant, Charlotte’s greatest joy is her husband and two children. Through a difficult season of infertility, she chose to sow seeds of life and hope into others. When the pandemic spread across the globe, we faced change in our everyday choices and unfamiliar restrictions. Yet, that season reminded Charlotte that we still have the power to choose. What started with her talking to herself on an iPhone became a gathering point for people worldwide to join in together and choose faith over fear, connection over isolation, and trust in the trials. www.charlottegambill.com.
Dare To Be a........Thomas? The disciple Thomas sometimes gets a bit of a rough ride, I think. His reputation and legacy seems to be based on nothing but his 'doubting' - and hence his name has been used for millennia as the epitome of scepticism! Join me for the Salvation Meeting on Fortress Radio where we look at so much more that we can learn from Thomas - enough that, instead of Daniel for a change, might not some of us even 'Dare to be a Thomas'? Music from the ISB, Portsmouth Citadel Songsters, Wealdstone Singing Company (1970) and much more - plus, of course, some great songs and a brand new poem by Commissioner Harry Read. Plus songs and the message - of course.
DJ Shawna, a modern-day renaissance woman, is the official DJ for the Milwaukee Bucks, a published author, a philanthropist, a clothing brand owner, a podcast host, a former professional basketball player...the list goes on. So, put simply, we had a lot to talk about—so much so that we decided to split our conversation into two unique episodes. --- In this episode—episode two—Journeymen hosts, Jacob and Ian, dive into the driving force behind much of Shawna's life: basketball. What is life like as a high school All-American, a Division 1 college player, an overseas professional? And, what is life like when that path winds to a stop? For Shawna, it meant now pursuing something she'd previously considered more of hobby. She was going to be a DJ—hence the genesis of the moniker, DJ Shawna—a decision that has led to numerous life-defining experiences, culminating—at least for now—in the role of her dreams: official DJ of the Milwaukee Bucks. Throughout her journey, one theme emerges consistently. Without her willingness to be bold and go big, DJ Shawna wouldn't be anywhere close to where she is today. --- + Follow DJ Shawna across social media (@djshawna), catch her streaming on Twitch and Mixcloud, and support her #DareToBe brand. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/journeymenpdcst/support

The three discuss the impact her late step-father, Joe Weirick, had on her and her decision to write "The Adventures of Bob and Downtown Milwaukee," all proceeds from which are donated to Key To Change—an organization fighting to end chronic homelessness in Milwaukee. Shawna's altruism becomes even more evident as she elaborates on her #DareToBe brand—a passion project that seeks to inspire others to dream big and dare to be...whatever they want. Representing everything that is good about the city of Milwaukee, Shawna is an inspiration to listen to and a model of paying it forward. --- Our second episode with DJ Shawna drops on Wednesday, December 23.
