In this episode of the Single Mother Survival Guide Podcast, Julia chats with Veronica Grant. Veronica is a Dating Mindset Coach, host of Date Yourself Radio, and creator of the Dating Mindset Bootcamp. Veronica helps women enjoy the process of dating and meeting higher quality men. But what she REALLY does is teach women how to treat themselves the way they want to be treated. We discuss why we need to treat ourselves like queens (and how to do it), why we should date ourselves, how to find the time to date, answering the questions - Where are all the good men? and Why am I still single?, why we fall into a pattern of falling for the same types (who aren't necessarily good for us), if it's better to go with your head or your heart, how we can let go of the fear of having a relationship after an unhealthy or toxic one, what are the red flags that we should be looking out for, and dealing with feelings of rejection. Get ready to fall in love with Shereen Thor. Part comedian, part life coach, part bad ass. Today, we had an important conversation how to effectively communicate with men, how to be yourself even if it pisses off other people, and finding your version of an extraordinary life. And no, you don’t have to sell all your possessions and sail around the world. (But you can if you want to!) Here’s what you’ll learn: -How to communicate with men effectively -How to be yourself and live your life without pissing others off -The mindset you need to be in to date for less stress and emotional overwhelm -Finding your version of an extraordinary life -How to let the masculine support you without losing your sense of who you are About Shereen: SHEREEN THOR is a bad ass on a mission, though she doesn’t care about seeming important so she won’t bore you with insignificant details that will make you think she’s impressive. She is not. She is just a regular gal doing her best to piss off the world and leave it a better place. She focuses her energy mostly on life purpose, family & lifestyle design. Freedom is of utmost importance, she can’t live without it and would die for the cause of helping others have it as well. So naturally, she’s kind of a pain in the ass. Many of us are complex beings who have many sides and we struggle to pick one. Shereen says fuck that. Don’t pick one. Be all of you. You are exquisite and you are perfect, but you are also inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. So don’t make this thing called life a big deal, just do you, Boo. We're back again with a special episode all about learning to date yourself and it feels so good to be talking about this topic! As a military spouse, I've spent a great deal of time alone so learning how to date myself has been an integral part of helping keep my marriage healthy while also staying connected to my own sense of self. But, even before I got married, I loved to take myself out to dinner and to movies simply because. My dating life has expanded dramatically since then to include all kinds of activities and sweet nothings to make me feel good, which is why I was so excited to hear from our guest today about some of the things she recommends to deepen this even more! Today, I'm speaking to Veronica Grant, a Dating Mindset Coach, host of Date Yourself Radio, and creator of the Dating Mindset Bootcamp. She helps smart, savvy women attract the right relationship to them. On the surface, Veronica helps women enjoy the process of dating + meet higher quality men. But what she REALLY does is teach women how to treat themselves the way they want to be treated. When she's not writing about herself in third person, you can find her indulging in (probably) too much HGTV, planning her next adventure, or spending quality time with her fiance + puppy. To learn more, and join the next free Date Yourself Challenge, head over to www.veronicagrant.com. Veronica is also sharing her top 3 tips for creating more joy: 1. Have lots of white space in your calendar 2. Create a morning routine you love 3. This is a question I got from the Date Yourself community: “How do you get over an unhealthy, damaging relationship? I've been with this guy for almost two years, I know he's not good for me. Although I have told him that I'm going away, I lack courage at the last minute. I always come back with the result that he's taking me for granted as he knows I'm not going anywhere. I'm so hurt and humiliated and still can't seem to break myself free. Thanks in advance.” To submit your question for me to answer on an upcoming episode click HERE. Today’s episode really is that silver bullet in dating that you are looking for. Yes, it is that important, so please listen to the whole thing. I know this one is a bit longer than others, but it’s so worth it! Self-care is a buzz word thrown around a lot in personal development. But I find either little explanation as to what it is, or what you’re supposed to do, OR, it’s explained in way that leaves little room to make it your own. IF there were a silver bullet in dating, it would definitely be this. So as you listen into my conversation with 100% Guilt-Free Self-Care Coach, Tami Hackbarth, here’s what you’ll learn: - Ideas to create your own self-care routine - Why putting yourself first is NOT selfish - If self care can ever be selfish - The closest thing to a silver bullet to getting into a healthy relationship - The insane benefits of meditation - What you’re actually supposed to be doing during meditation About Tami: Tami is a self-care coach who teaches 100% guilt-free self-care to busy women. She encourages women to drop the story that self-care is selfish and start feeling powerful in their own lives. Your next steps: -The Date Yourself Challenge opens soon! My guest, Margo Donohue is a blogger and podcast host for one of my favorite fitness blogs, Fit Bottomed Girls. She also hosts the podcast, Book vs. Movie. In this episode, we talk about how to have a healthy relationship to fitness (and why losing your last 5lbs WON’T help you get the guy). Have you ever felt unlucky in love? Maybe you've had partners that made you feel bad about yourself or you've been on plenty of dates but can't get someone to commit. Maybe you're in a long term relationship and simply feel it could be more fulfilling. It may be time for you to date yourself. In Episode 22, Brodie talks with Veronica Grant, dating coach and private yoga instructor, about ways to improve our love lives, whether we're dating casually, seeking a long-term relationship, or currently with a long-term partner. In this episode, we explore: Dating yourself: what does it mean? Some common reasons people struggle to enter a relationship Some common reasons people struggle to get what they want out of a relationship Treating yourself the way you want to be treated Deciding what you want out of your relationship Setting boundaries (because boundaries are sexy!) Veronica is a Dating Mindset Coach, host of Date Yourself Radio, and creator of the Dating Mindset Bootcamp. She helps smart, savvy women who feel like they have it all except that ONE thing, find and keep their perfect-for-them relationship. On the surface, Veronica helps women enjoy the process of dating + meet higher quality men. But what she REALLY does is teach women how to treat themselves the way they want to be treated. When she's not writing about herself in third person, you can find her indulging in (probably) too much HGTV, planning her next adventure, or spending quality time (her love language) with her fiance + puppy. Online dating, you probably either love it or hate it. Or perhaps you see it as a necessary evil. I actually think online dating is a great tool, especially if you’re more introverted, and going out all the time just to potentially meet someone is going to exhaust and drain you. That’s definitely how it was for me. I think the problem with online dating isn’t the online dating part, but rather, it’s about how we use it. And after talking to my guest today, I’ve learned a lot about the techy part of online dating, and how some sites may not be setting you up for success. Enter DragonFruit. Dragonfruit is a new online dating app designed for geeks as a safe space to meet, connect, and hopefully date! Here’s what you’ll learn: Why it’s easy to lie to others and yourself in traditional online dating spaces, and how that keeps you perpetually attracting poor matches How to stand out in online dating with your own inner weirdness, aka, your geekdom Some amazing features on DragonFruit that keeps you protected from dick pics + other unwanted harassment -YOUR NEXT STEP: Schedule a Dating Clarity Session with me so we can uncover what’s keeping you from attracting your ideal partner. -Make sure you’re on my email list so you don’t miss my Black Friday deal. Chris Seiter of the website exboyfriendrecovery.com is on the show today talking to us about how to get an ex back and how to get over your ex. Chris is a relationship consultant specializing in breakups. He’s the creator of the website exboyfriendrecovery.com, a website dedicated to helping women get their ex back...or move on from their ex which gets over half a million visitors each month. I haven’t had an episode yet dedicated specifically to getting over an ex, so I’m thrilled that Chris was able to come onto the show and give us the scoop. And we talk about a subject that I don’t really teach… which is getting an ex back. I definitely have mixed opinions about this, and generally think that a relationship ended for a reason. But I really like his approach to getting an ex back, which starts with seeing if it’s even WORTH to get him back. Here’s what you’ll learn in this episode about how to get over your ex: The biochemistry of why getting over an ex hurts so much (aka, why you’re not crazy even if you think you are) How to get an ex back Questions to consider if you should try to get an ex back, and when it call it quits The importance of the No Contact Rule, and what to do when you’re not contacting your ex What to do when you discover you don’t want to get an ex back but you’re still heartbroken How Wavelength Theory can leave you in a blindsided breakup -YOUR NEXT STEP: Schedule a Dating Clarity Session with me so we can uncover what’s keeping you from attracting your ideal partner. -Learn more about the Dating Mindset Makeover. -JOIN US! Hello and welcome to episode 41 of Date Yourself Radio! A few months ago, I met today’s guest at a local networking event in Dallas. I invited her onto the show because, well, she works for an online dating company I’m sure you’ve heard of, but she also has an incredible blog where she beautifully + eloquently shares her experiences dating. I’ve already included some of my favorite posts in the shownotes, which are at veronicagrant.com/episode41, but she’s also going to share some of those stories here too. Towards the end of the interview Emma shares a pretty raw and real time she honored a boundary with someone. And I want you to listen really closely. So many women tell me they’re scared to say what they want or how they feel because they may come across as a bitch, as too much, or get rejected. I won’t give what happened to Emma away here when she spoke up, but the insight is so powerful, and I want you to hear it. Alright, let’s go ahead and jump straight to the interview... This week’s question comes from Ashley, and she writes: I am not looking for someone to complete me, but I’m tired of living life alone and if there is something I can do about it I would, it's just hard to know where to start. I’m having one of those days where I’m loosing faith and though I can tell myself "I'll meet someone," the truth is I may not, and it's a little painful to admit. I’m in the place where now my energy is being used to console myself that it's okay to be alone but I'd rather put my energy into finding my partner, I'm just not sure how to go about doing that. Welcome to a special series I’m doing all this week on the podcast, the How We Met series. Each day, I’ve invited some past guests as well as other amazing women to share their story of how they met their life partner. I hope these stories bring you hope, inspiration, and insight to the different ways these women have met their spouses and partners. Day 4 features one of my favorite podcast hosts + Date Yourself Radio guest alum, Jessie Artigue. She + her husband cohost another favorite podcast of mine, Marriage is Funny. It’s a funny, thoughtful approach to striving for great love, rather than perfect love. I love the messaging, the candid conversations, and the lessons this hilarious couple learns through their own marriage journey. No matter your relationship status, this podcast is entertaining + inspiring to all. Be sure you also listen to our conversation in episode 19 about striving for great love, rather than perfect love. Welcome to a special series I’m doing all this week on the podcast, the How We Met series on Date Yourself Radio. Each day, I’ve invited some past guests as well as other amazing women to share their story of how they met their life partner. I hope these stories bring you hope, inspiration, and insight to the different ways these women have met their spouses and partners. On Day 2 of the series, I have author, podcaster, and comedian Laura Lane sharing how she met her partner. Laura along with her cohost Angela have the show, This is Why You’re Single. It’s one of my favorite comedy podcasts, and it’s inspired by real life dating adventures and disasters, and they share a new reason every week about why you’re single. I highly recommend checking it out. Find all the links + resources mentioned in the show at veronicagrant.com/episode32 Don't forget to join the FREE 10-Day Date Yourself Challenge! In this episode, I interview Irene Langeveld, who’s a coach for highly sensitive people. Can you relate to this? You don’t want to turn someone down because you feel bad, or you agree to be set up because otherwise the person who is setting you up will think you’re judgy or picky, or you have trouble saying ‘no’ to people. The good news is that this probably means you’re not a psychopath, as psychopaths have zero ability to empathize. The bad news is this exhausting, and it rarely leads to a healthy, lasting relationship. In this episode, you’ll learn: -How to know if you’re being too sensitive or if you’re just being empathetic -What to do when you worry about what people think -How to listen to your intuition, and act upon it! You’re driven, you have big goals, and most of your friends were...male. If that doesn’t sound like you, I’m STILL willing to bet that at least once {but probably more} you viewed other women as “the competition” + have sized yourself up against other women. If that’s you, there’s no shaming or hard feelings, I’m pretty sure we’re all guilty of this, and so was my guest on Date Yourself Radio. Shannon lived most of her life in her masculine energy, secretly despising other women. In her mind, men were a scarce commodity, and other women were the competition. It wasn’t until she tapped into her own femininity + changed her relationship to other woman that she was able to attract the relationship she has today. In today’s episode, she shares that journey with us. About Shannon: Shannon grew up on her family’s pear farm in a small town in Northern California. She floated up to a skyscraper in Manhattan as a corporate lawyer. When that wasn’t working, she hit the road as a travel photographer all over the world. Now, she is a rooted mama living in Asheville, NC with her 2 year old daughter + husband. She share her passion for whole food nutrition + vertical gardening in her business. Most recently, she hosts the podcast, Honor The Feminine Podcast, and feels so blessed and honored to connect with and share these incredible women. Hello + welcome to my introductory podcast! Honestly, I never thought I’d have a podcast + connect with my audience in this way, but I am so excited to, because I hope it’ll serve you in a deeper + better way than a traditional blog. If you’re new to me, you may be wondering what the heck I’m talking about when I talk about dating myself. I certainly didn’t make up the concept of dating yourself. However, I do think my emphasis on dating yourself as a way to deepen the relationship you’re in or drastically improve your dating life is powerfully unique. In this first episode of Date Yourself Radio, I share with you my own date yourself story. At the time I was undergoing a radical shift in my life, I didn’t really realize what I was doing. Hindsight is 20/20 in that way. But now it is crystal clear to me how once I started treating myself the way I wanted to be treated, I started attracting men who wanted to also treat me that way. As you listen to this episode, here are some key concepts + questions to consider: Think of your relationship to food, your body, and health. Is it a healthy, loving relationship or a relationship of pain, guilt, and neglect? If you keep attracting emotionally unavailable men, why do you think that is? What is 1 thing you could start doing TODAY that could help you treat yourself like a queen? After you listen, in the comments below, I’d love to know: how do you treat yourself the way you want to be treated?
