With 1 in 4 women between 15-49 in the US using either the pill or some type of implant for birth control and cycle management, I think it's safe to say we could all stand to learn a little bit more about how to balance our hormones and track our cycles naturally. In this episode, we discuss the importance of a sacred self check in, the problem with birth control and current healthcare for women, and of course, exactly what it looks like to track cervical mucas, basal body temperature, and confirm whether or not you have ovulated. This week the Finding Flow Podcast welcomes on my dear friend, soul sister, & Period Coach, Christina Winkler! It seems to me that for far too long, women have been taught to feel ashamed of their monthly bleed - believing it is just something that we HAVE to deal with or better yet, being put on birth control to stop the bleed completely & to simply "slap a bandaid" on top of potential symptoms (heavy bleed, cramps, mood swings, acne, etc.). If this is you, I see you - I hear you - I know you - I love you - & I invite you to tune in with an open mind, open ears, & an open heart ♡ In this episode, Christina & I dive deep into all things birth control, periods, & cycle tracking as it relates to reclaiming our womb health & learning to see the very magick that exists within all women. We share our journeys of discontinuing birth control, learning how to effectively track our cycles for ovulation, & how living in alignment with our inner seasons has drastically changed our lives (for the better)!!! As always, remember to take what resonates & leave what doesn't. We are all on our own unique journey & while there is no "right or wrong" answer when it comes to women's health, I believe the information, insight, & wisdom that Christina brings to this episode has the full potential to change the way in which you consciously relate to your body, & in turn the way you consciously relate to life ♡ I hope you enjoy this one! What if I told you your menstrual cycle is your greatest untapped resource? What if I told you it's a power source you can use to boost productivity, abundance, happiness and inner peace?Would you believe me? Probably not. And honestly, I don't blame you. That's because, for generations, we've been told our menstrual cycles are gross, dirty, and shameful. Instead of celebrating this divine part of ourselves, we're told to ignore it, feel ashamed of it, or hide it. When I started connecting with my cycle and syncing my food, movement and self-care I became more focused, better at problem-solving, less stressed and more empowered. I felt happier and more like my true authentic self. I learned to give myself grace on the days i felt down, knowing that I'd soon feel much better and get everything on my to-do list done. When you harness the power of your period, you stand fully in your power. You stop living from a place of smallness and start living in the light. Your menstrual cycle is truly the light within. And no I didn't know that's where this podcast was leading when I channeled the name of it in a meditation session over a year ago. But isn't it funny, how things work out sometimes?Join my FREE masterclass, Sunday April 17th. We're talking all about ways to hack your hormones to boost productivity, happiness & inner peace. I first learned that a period coach was even a thing just a year ago. I spent so many years of my life believing that symptoms I had around pms and my period were just a fact of life. When I discovered that all the horrible things we are told are normal (cramps, nausea, headaches) do not have to be part of our lives, my mind was blown. I met Courtney and was an instant fan. She’s had a fun and adventurous life, has worked at Whole Foods (which is what I’m going to do in my next life), and is now committed to helping women achieve their best level of health. Some of the topics today: 4 stages of a woman’s cycle Sex & your cycle Misconceptions about periods and pms Stigmas we have grown up with The role of blood sugar on your hormones Caffeine’s impact on women Setting boundaries Speaking your mind Courtney is offering a free 30-min consultation for listeners of this podcast You can connect with her at the following www.courtneytitus.com IG: @whynotwellness BONUS Material on Patreon Become a member of my Patreon group.

Why is there so much shame around our periods? Why do our periods seem like a burden, something that diminishes us and our ability to function in the world instead of being a source of empowerment? In today's world of self-empowerment, our periods are still used to control, and negate a female's sense of self, especially in disconnecting her from her body. This was such a fabulous and educational conversation about menstruation, and how to work with our hormones instead of against them. We also talk about bringing men into the conversation and how menstruation can help bring balance to the entire family, the effects of the pill and the chemical controlling of our bodies from fertility to the coffin, and what we need to teach our daughters. And most importantly, does chocolate really help? Who is Stasha Washburn, Anyway? Stasha is known as The Period Coach. A Certified Holistic Health Coach and 20+ years of research have fueled her passion to reconnect women to the power in their cycles. To end the taboo of menstruation worldwide, no big deal. Stasha is changing the conversation around periods from whispers in the ladies' room to empowered public discussions. Stasha spent 20 years searching for a way to relieve her Endometriosis, and in the process discovered how to help women balance their hormones, through both science and ‘woo’. Knowing this she could no longer keep quiet, becoming a speaker and using her voice ever since to bring relief to women worldwide. Our monthly visitor. Aunt Harriet. Aunt Flo (why is it always an ‘aunt?’) The curse. Lady problems. Plumbing issues. Catch my drift? This is a subject I’ve been learning more about, even though my “visitor” has been around for well over two decades. I think many of us learned everything we know from that one class or video in the 5th grade, and then never really talked about it again, other than the occasional time we complain to our friends about it. But did you know that our cycle is a month long process, that not only affects our bodies, but how we think, feel, and behave? Did you know that there are specific phases where we have more energy, and when our body is asking certain things of us that we ignore or feel guilty about? Stasha Washburn is known as The Period Coach. She’s a Certified Holistic Health Coach and Visionary Business Coach. Her Life Vision is to reconnect women to the power in their cycles and end the taboo of menstruation, sono big deal.Stasha is changing the conversation around periods from whispers in the ladies room to empowered public discussions. She and I talk about the different phases or our month-long cycles, how we can pay attention to them, and actually use them to our advantage. There’s so much information here, including how we can include and teach both our girls AND our boys on the subject, and maybe even get a little TLC out of the deal. I took more notes during this interview than any other so far, and gained so much knowledge about how our cycles work and how we can learn to, as Stasha says, get in a lazy river inner tube with a cocktail in hand, and learn to use the current to our advantage. You ready to dig in and learn more than just what your middle school health teacher taught you? Me too! Let's go.

Today the word we are going to talk about "Period" and I don't mean the punctuation mark. We start by discussing the taboo that surrounds the word "period" and why there is so much stigma around having a period, talking about your period or even saying that very loaded word - period. Stasha shares her decades of experience, research and learnings with us and explains why shaking up this taboo is so important for women on so many levels. The Crisp Takeaways * Yum * We use euphemisms because we view this experience as such a negative one. How damaging the current trends that suggest "you don't even need to have your period" can be for the female body, hormones and mental state. "If you are any kind of birth control, you are basically mimicking menopause" The biggest block holding people from back from embracing their own psychic abilities is simply the fear of opening their mouths. You have be actively ovulating to make estrogen and progesterone, and here's the thing - these are the two hormones that make us ladies feel sexy, juicy, high energy, feel happy etc. When you don't ovulate - you miss out on these. There are no studies done on the real, long term effects of birth control. There are so many long term side effects that come from not having your cycle for years at a time. We talk about some very heavy issues, including how important words are in keeping your kids safe from sexual predators. Using the right words and really learning how your own body works is an act of revolution because it is how we as women are going to reclaim our power and ultimately change the world for the generations of women who came after us.

In this episode, Sophia Wise One talks with Stasha, The Period Coach about the unique qualities of each phase of the menstrual cycle and the magic that we can all experience from following its natural energetic rhythm. Key Takeaways: Whether or not your body literally bleeds, you can absolutely benefit from listening to the rhythm of the cycle, particularly by following the moon's cycle. The four phases: menstrual, follicular, ovulation, and luteal, each correspond with a season, winter, spring, summer, and fall and it is really sane-making when we schedule our lives and expectations around that ebb and flow of energy. PMS is not a phase of the menstrual cycle! “But the freedom that you feel when you're no longer living in that linear, goal-oriented manner that it's amazing how much more you actually get done. And yet, it feels so much easier and time just takes on a new perspective!” Stasha on the deep trust and patience in only doing the work that each phase can support. “It has a patience that requires a trust in your own wisdom, as opposed to a patience that requires a trust in something outside of you” Sophia on the transition into organizing your life around your cycle. Let’s face it, ladies, there’s something about that time of the month that makes us crazy, crampy, irritable, sleepy, creative, horny, hungry… and that barely scratches the surface. For most of us, the emotions and discomfort are something we just deal with, even if it causes us great pain and totally throws a wrench in our days. Such was the case for years for Stasha Washburn, aka The Period Coach, who endured severe cramps and fainting spells caused by her periods. Eventually, Stasha, formerly a dancer, had enough and decided that there must be a way to heal herself and to stop simply accepting her symptoms as “normal.” Through research, adjusting her diet and establishing new daily routines, such as her thai-chi practice, she discovered what worked best for her. And when she shared her story with other women, she learned that she wasn’t alone. With the help of a straightforward business coach, Stasha realized that calling herself, at first, a hormonal balance expert, wasn’t her thing. She decided her mission is to end the taboo around menstruation and to do so as The Period Coach. In this episode, Stasha tells us how to approach our periods, how to be empowered to ask for what we need and how to continue to prosper by learning the ways your flow affects your business. On this episode you’ll learn: The top 3 issues most women entrepreneurs have because of their periodsIs your “bitchiness” bad for business? How your flow affects your…flow. How changing your perspective of your period can empower you to make better decisions. The four phases of your cycle and what questions you need to ask during each phase.Figuring out what your passion is by asking what pisses you off.
