KIRO Newsradio caught up with a Seattle resident known for taking very long walks right here at home, seeing the city and the region from a unique perspective – and then sharing it with others through photos and tours. Austin Watson retired after a long career at Boeing, and he now lives with his wife in Downtown Seattle. He wears comfortable clothes and serious walking shoes because on a good day – which means pretty much every day – he’ll easily cover 10 miles on foot. He also owns decent rain gear, because he’ll often take his long walks rain or shine – which is something of a given in the Pacific Northwest.

After that, thoughts on Hockeytown's reported interest (alongside the Leafs) in former star Max Pacioretty before news & updates on Marco Kasper and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard in their Olympic qualification efforts, as well as Red Savage, Austin Watson, & more (23:00). Next, thoughts on Detroit being ranked 14th by the Athletic in their U23/Pipeline rankings, & whether Detroit truly lacks stars or superstars (30:15). The New Jersey Devils have won a dozen games in a row. This time the Ottawa Senators fell victim once again losing 5-1. This game was interesting because a lot of the scoring production came from the underdog players on the roster. On this episode, the boys are joined by Austin Watson, former Nashville Predator and current Ottawa Senator. Watson was a first-round pick that has battled with alcohol use but is now over 3 years sober and has evolved into a rare player. He's not an enforcer, but at 6'4, 200 pounds, and a switch he can flip at any time, Austin Watson can hold his own with the best. We get into that young, up-and-coming Ottawa team, the incident that led to his suspension, being teammates with Roman Josi and much more. Before the interview, the boys get into Colorado blowing Tampa out, Maroon chirping Stan Kroenke, the 7 wonders of the world and more. There's not much hockey left but you know we're not going anywhere. Enjoy Austin Watson on this edition of The Cam & Strick Podcast.
