Steve Vai, Eric Slick, Nick D'Virgilio and others!Frank Zappa alumni Mike Keneally will be releasing his new solo album “The Thing That Knowledge Can't Eat” on Feb. 24, 2023. Pre-orders are available NOW at https://store.keneally.com . The eagerly awaited release features guest appearances by Steve Vai, Eric Slick, Nick D'Virgilio and others.Says Mike, “This is my first new solo album in seven years - the last one was ‘Scambot 2' in 2016, so this one has really been a long time coming. About half of the material on the new album was in the works prior to the pandemic, but the other half was created at home in lockdown in 2020 and 2021, and all the finishing touches were placed on the songs during 2022, so it's been in the works for a while. I've never done so much work on an album on my own, so the learning curve was steep, but I did have help from friends all along the way, including farming out tracks to drummers who were also locked down at home. I wrote all the songs, and the lyrics of the later songs definitely reflect the strange times during which the album was finalized. A lot of my past albums have been lengthy, extended works, but this one is a tight 42 minutes, nine songs - I think it goes down pretty smooth but it travels to a lot of different places along the way. I'm extremely happy with it, and very grateful to finally be able to share it with everyone.”Watch the first video from the album for the song “Celery” (featuring Steve Vai): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ndhNYBWtxATo purchase: https://store.keneally.com/products/mike-keneally-the-thing-that-knowledge-cant-eat-cd-plus-downloadPatreon: https://patreon.com/MikeKeneallyFacebook: https://facebook.com/MikeKeneallyTwitter: https://twitter.com/mikekeneallyInstagram: https://instagram.com/mikekeneallyWebsite: https://mikekeneallymusic.bandcamp.com/music keneally.comStore: https://store.keneally.comYoutube: https://youtube.com/c/mikekeneallychannelofficialThanks for tuning in, please be sure to click that subscribe button and give this a thumbs up!!Email: thevibesbroadcast@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/listen_to_the_vibes_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thevibesbroadcastnetworkLinktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastTikTok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeuTVRv2/Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheVibesBrdcstTruth: https://truthsocial.com/@KoyoteFor all our social media and other links, go to: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastPlease subscribe, like, and share!

On this week's Talkhouse Podcast we've got a pair of songwriters separated by a generation, but united by a serious dedication to the craft: Carl Newman and Liam Kazar. Carl Newman—aka. AC Newman—is best known as the gravitational center of The New Pornographers, the lark of a supergroup that he started back in 1997 but that quickly found great enough success that it became his main gig. As you perhaps already know, the band also features the prodigious talents of Neko Case and Destroyer's Dan Bejar, though Newman does the vast majority of the songwriting. The band's latest album is 2019's In The Morse Code of Brake Lights, but as you'll hear—maybe for the first time?—in this conversation, they've spent part of the pandemic working on a new one. If that's not enough, the band's classic debut Mass Romantic has just been reissued on vinyl, and in November and December the New Pornographers will do a tour on which they perform both that album and 2005's Twin Cinema in their entirety. Newman has also been spending some time on Twitter in the past couple of years, and that's how he heard about Liam Kazar's song “Shoes Too Tight.” Another Talkhouse guest from this year, Eric Slick, tweeted about the song, and Newman heartily endorsed it. It's from Kazar's debut solo album Due North, which came out earlier this year on Kevin Morby's new label, Mare Records. And while it may be his first album as a solo artist, it's far from the first thing Kazar has done: He was part of the Chicago collective Kids These Days, which also featured Vic Mensa, and he's part of the band Tweedy with his pal Spencer Tweedy and Spencer's famous dad, Jeff. But Due North is the first time that Kazar has been front and center as a songwriter, and he sounds like an old soul. Newman and Kazar talk a lot about songwriting on this podcast, and they also get into social media, Liam's talented family, and lots more. Enjoy. Thanks for listening to the Talkhouse Podcast, and thanks to Carl Newman and Liam Kazar for chatting. A new preview of Taylor Swift ‘s re-recorded version of her 2014 song ‘Wildest Dreams' has emerged in the latest trailer for Spirit Untamed – you can hear the snippet in the below clip. The original song featured on the singer's 2014 album ‘1989', and is one of a large number of tracks that Swift is re-recording from her back catalogue following the controversial sales of her masters in recent years . The first snippet of ‘Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version)' was released earlier this month in a minute-long trailer for the forthcoming DreamWorks film Spirit Untamed . A longer trailer for the upcoming animated movie has now been released, featuring an extended preview of the new version of Swift's ‘Wildest Dreams' – you can watch the clip and hear the snippet below. Swift has properly released two re-recorded songs from her back catalogue so far. In February she shared a new version of her 2008 single ‘Love Story' , while ‘You All Over Me (From The Vault)' arrived last week. The two tracks will both feature on ‘Fearless (Taylor's Version)' , a re-recorded version of the singer's 2008 album ‘Fearless'. The record is set to be released on April 9 – you can read about what to expect from the album here . Drummer and singer/songwriter Eric Slick recently spoke in an interview about the “top-secret” recording process behind Swift‘s ‘You All Over Me (From The Vault)'. From Publisher: NME Taylor Swift serves as a role model in women's empowerment – The Paisano She isn't just a folklore everyone talks about; a legend we can all dream about in our wildest dreams; or a girl wearing a cardigan writing a love story with teardrops on her guitar. Having been in the music industry since the age of 13, Taylor Swift has had the opportunity to grow as a singer-songwriter, but most importantly, as a female in a male-dominated industry. However, her career has not always been all glitter and kittens. She has had to undergo treacherous obstacles that have made her who she is today. Time and time again, Taylor has been degraded by men in this industry. From an interviewer wrongly placing his hands on her for a picture to Kanye West disrespecting her at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. More recently, Taylor has lost her entire catalog of songs not once but twice without her consent. As she still has the publishing rights to the songs themselves, she promised her fans re-recordings of all six albums. Proving herself, she released Love Story (Taylor's Version) this year, bringing back youthful memories through her carefully reinvented masterpiece that reached number one, once again.

Todd Rundgren is a legendary musician and producer whose list of credits is impressive as the man himself is down to earth. He produced Meat Loaf’s Bat Out of Hell, one of the biggest-selling albums of all time, as well as New York Dolls’ self-titled debut, one of the most influential. This month, he’s been on the “Clearly Human” tour, which—due to obvious reasons—is all virtual. As a tech pioneer, he’s doing things a bit different, as you’ll hear in the podcast. Aquarium Drunkard - SIDECAR (TRANSMISSIONS) - Podcast

This week on Transmissions, we're joined by songwriter, Dr. Dog drummer, and noted Twitter personality Eric Slick. His new album of classic pop songcraft is called Wiseacre. Best known for his work with Dr. Dog and his wife, songwriter Natalie Prass, Wiseacre was inspired by the golden-hued melodies of Harry Nilsson, Haruomi Hosono, and a general '70s gloss. It's a deeply personal record, one that explores contentment and domesticity, as well as unpacking no small amount of personal weirdness and trauma.   Eric joined Aquarium Drunkard contributor Ben Kramer—you might know him from Radio Free Aquarium Drunkard’s The Tonight Zone, as featured on the Adult Swim live stream to get into it all: how his marriage to Prass influenced the lyrics of the record, how his meditation practice informs his songwriting, and what it's like to get into a real songwriting groove.

In this episode of Across The Margin: The Podcast host Michael Shields converses with multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter, and drummer extraordinaire Eric Slick. Slick is best known as the drummer for Dr. Dog (performing on their albums Shame, Shame (2010), Be The Void (2012), B-Room (2013), The Psychedelic Swamp (2016) and Abandoned Mansion (2016)), but his solo work in the last half-decade has been consistently impressive and wholly captivating. This week, Slick releases his latest album Wiseacre, which is named after the location where he became married to singer Natalie Prass, who guests on the album’s mesmerizing single "Closer to Heaven." While the album features a grouping of airy and enchanting pop-rock songs the are borne of the joy that stems from domestic bliss, Slick delves deeply into self-acceptance and combating your own insecurities throughout the entirety of the album. In this episode, Michael and Eric discuss how personal the Wiseacre project is to him, how the album was birthed (with the help of Grammy-winning producer Jeremy Ferguson), his other solo releases (particularly 2019’s Bullfighter — a song cycle about the first Jewish American matador Sidney Franklin), what Dr.Dog has been up to during quarantine, and a whole lot more.Follow Eric Slick on Twitter @erickslickmusic and on Instagram at @strangeamerica. God Ween Evan continues its periodic interview series, where someone in or around Ween and the Ween community chews the fat with the team. Next up is singer, songwriter, and drummer Eric Slick. Slick is often recognized as a drummer with rock acts including Dr Dog and Natalie Prass, but to label this octopoidal beast a simple tub thumper does a disservice to his immense musical talent. His first LP Palisades dropped in 2017 and revealed a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter with ambitions beyond the four on the floor. In 2018 he released the Bullfighter EP, a dense four song cycle anchored by a string quartet and rounded off by electronics, percussion and distant piano crashes. In June, he is set to release another solo album, a topic discussed in this episode, as well as his ties to Ween (trying out for the band, working with Deaner on music during quarantine, etc.), epic Thanksgiving jams at John & Peter's, the most fire bars Brian Wilson ever spit, and more!Learn more about Eric's diverse and exciting projects at: http://www.ericslick.com/. "My favourite playing that I’ve ever done is when I’m in this space of no-mind." Eric Slick is an accomplished musician from Philadelphia who is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. He is the drummer for the band Dr. Dog and his past credentials include, The Adrian Belew Power Trio, Ween, and Natalie Prass. Besides playing drums for Dr. Dog, Eric also has his own solo project, aptly named Eric Slick, and his punk band Lithuania. Eric discovered his sense of creativity at a very young age. He and his sister, Julie, would write songs about low budget movie posters and perform these songs for their parents in the living room. To aid this outlet, Eric’s father taught Eric and Julie how to overdub recordings with two boomboxes daisy-chained together. From what I gather, the Slick household was a creative one. At the age of eleven, Eric discovered Paul Green at the Griffin Cafe. Paul is the creator of the now-famous School of Rock. Throughout Eric’s pre-teen/teen years, he would play drums at the School of Rock, while Julie joined later to play bass. At the School of Rock, they learned a broad range of music ranging from Pink Floyd to Frank Zappa. Towards the end of Eric and Julie's time spent at the School of Rock, Paul had suggested to Adrian Belew that Eric and Julie were his best students and thus Adrien hired them to play in his trio. Eric has had many twists and turns throughout his professional career. He is a vastly deep musician with the desire to explore his creativity to the fullest degree. Releasing solo works “Palisades” and “Bullfighter” it is clear that Eric is not limited to simply one musical role and that his artistry beckons for more. In this interview, we explore many of Eric’s philosophies, stories, and personal growth throughout his life. You Will Hear About…. Eric’s introduction to the School of Rock. Why he left the Adrien Belew Power Trio. How Eric wrote Palisades and why he left Philly. Eric’s experiences with his dream therapist. Eric’s interpretation on my dream. Overcoming panic attacks and how they affected him. Why to go with the flow of life. Why Should You Listen? If you are a fan of Eric Slick and Dr. Dog then you will find this to be interesting because of the depth that we go into. If you have never heard of Eric before, you will likely still find this to be an enjoyable podcast episode and may hear echoes of previous episodes in it. There is a common theme lately with the podcast. That is we need to let go of our egos and expectations. We need to go with the flow of life instead of man-handling it into what we think we want it to be. Stop overthinking. Be present with what you are currently doing. Be kinder to yourself. The big picture of what we are here to do is such an important and valid topic. This episode continues to explore these concepts and shed more light on this vast subject.
