Little Feat's legend goes back to 1969! The band has produced ubiquitous hits like "Dixie Chicken" and "Willin'." Their influence stretches across generations. They have endured heartbreak, loss, and lineup changes but the core Little Feat sound has remained true since the beginning. Scott Sharrard joined LIttle Feat in 2019 and has been instrumental in their efforts leading up to the band's latest record Strike Up The Band, which was released on May 9th, 2025. In addition to his work with Little Feat, Scott was the band leader for the Gregg Allman Band and his band The Chesterfields. The band, and Scott, have lived a fascinating musical life. The song you are hearing in this episode is "Midnight Flight" from Little Feat's excellent new record. Listen on: Spotify- Apple Podcasts- YouTube-
Man, this was fun. I've been on a Drive-By Truckers kick since the holidays since I decided to do a full discography listen as a way of pregaming for seeing the band for the first time in early February. BJ Barham is the creative force behind one of my all time favorite bands American Aquarium. BJ was on my short list of dream guests when I started this thing back in 2016 and I was thrilled that he agreed to be my very first Marinade guest! American Aquarium released perhaps my favorite of their albums The Fear of Standing Still earlier this year. BJ is a man who is dedicated to his craft and each album showcases the growth he and his band have attained. He is an inspiration and I am honored to have gotten to know him a little over the years. Jocelyn Si of Walt Disco and guest co-host Jason Earle (of The Marinade” podcast) join me in discussing “Poses” from Rufus Wainwright. Plenty of other discussion including finding one's voice in college, getting ready to tour with OMD in the states (in 2025, not in 2024), Bronski Beat, Nepo Babies, Death of Venice, welcome moments of horns, and "In A Graveyard" is I think the best Billy Joel song not written or sung by Billy Joel. Prove me wrong.I won't guarantee that you'll like the album. It was a slow burn for me. Biophilic design, which incorporates natural elements into buildings, can promote a healthier indoor environment and improve well-being. Our living environments have a significant impact on our health, and it is important to be aware of and maintain them. Testing for mold can be complex, and it is essential to understand the limitations and interpretations of different tests. The musty smell associated with mold is caused by microbial volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and can have various effects on our health, including cognitive impairment and depression. Air quality is a crucial factor in overall health and should not be overlooked. Preventing mold-related illness involves addressing moisture problems and maintaining proper ventilation. The trigeminal nerve plays a significant role in mold-related inflammation and can be sensitized by both microbial and manmade VOCs. Fear can hinder healing and it is important to approach mold-related issues with a positive attitude. Testing for mold can be complex and should be interpreted in the context of the overall environment. Taking control of the environment includes maintaining moisture control, using air purifiers, and practicing proper ventilation. The first time Jason joined us, he gave us what could only be labeled as a masterclass on mold and mold testing, challenging many of the commonly held beliefs in our industry when it comes to dealing with this rampant problem. This time around, we tried to cover everything we missed in the first one, including but not limited to the best air purifiers to put in your home (whether you actively have mold or not), and even the legal rights you have if you discover mold in a place you're renting. Welcome to The Marinade, a free-flowing conversation about the creative process with creative people. Each episode we welcome musicians, actors, comedians, authors, visual artists, filmmakers- anyone who creates art to talk about how and why we make stuff. This is a bonus episode in our Jason's Journal series. In addition to sharing conversations with creative people, we often cover live creative events and work to bring you in on the action. On this episode of The Health Detective Podcast, Detective Ev, FDNP is having a very timely conversation with Jason Earle, founder of "Got Mold". When Jason realized that a moldy childhood home was the cause of his extreme allergies and asthma, he decided to give up his successful career on Wall Street to pursue the "healthy home" business to make sure the things that occurred to him and his family did not happen to others. Over the last two decades, Jason has personally performed countless sick building investigations, solving many medical mysteries along the way, helping thousands of families recover their health and peace of mind. He has featured or appeared on Good Morning America, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Entrepreneur, Wired, and more. We would NOT consider this your average mold podcast. In fact, our live audience and team found it so insightful, that we are bringing Jason back on soon for a second round. For this first round, though, we'll be discussing the many health complications seen from mold exposure, why some of the most standard forms of home testing are NOT enough, and what action steps you can take TODAY to start making things better if you suspect you have mold.
