I Love Recruiting
The One Sentence Every Group Coaching Offer Needs (And Most Coaches Skip)

I Love Recruiting

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 4, 2026 21:02 Transcription Available

You don't need a better funnel to launch your group coaching program. You need one sentence. And if you can't say it clearly to a stranger at a dinner table, your offer isn't ready — no matter how good your coaching actually is. This is Part 1 of a 7-part series on scaling from one-on-one to one-to-many, and Adam and Jess are starting with the thing almost every coach skips. What You'll LearnWhat "payoff language" means and why vague, aspirational promises like "build a legacy" are costing you clientsThe one-sentence formula for a coaching offer that attracts buyers and filters out everyone elseWhy leading with your credentials is the fastest way to lose someone who actually needs you right nowThe difference between an attainable payoff and an aspirational one — and why only one of them convertsHow getting crystal clear on your offer transformation is the fastest cure for imposter syndromeEpisode SummaryThis is Part 1 of ILC's 7-step framework for transitioning your coaching business from one-on-one to a group or one-to-many model. And Adam and Jess are starting at the foundation most coaches never build: your payoff.Your payoff is the specific, one-sentence answer to: who do you help, what is their problem, and what is your solution? Think headache relief — not "become the best version of yourself." If someone is in pain and shopping for a solution, they need to hear plain, explicit language that tells them you have what they need. Flowery, idealized language doesn't land when someone's head hurts.Adam and Jess walk through a simple three-part payoff formula: start with your avatar (almost always a past version of yourself), name the exact problem they have, and articulate the solution you have already delivered — not one you aspire to deliver someday. That last distinction matters. A payoff rooted in your own lived experience is what gives you the competence and confidence to show up without constantly second-guessing yourself. They also bring in Donald Miller's StoryBrand framework here — the shift from being the hero of your own story to becoming the guide. When your payoff is grounded in empathy and proven experience, imposter syndrome loses its grip. You stop trying to prove yourself and start pointing people toward the outcome you already know how to deliver.Everything in a one-to-many offer is built from the payoff. This is where it starts.Key Quote"Everything is built from the payoff. It's not everything is built from the person." — JessResources + LinksBuilding a StoryBrand by Donald Miller (hero vs. guide framework, cognitive dissonance) amzn.to/3N9coPTREAL Coach Method Blueprint — ILC's Phase 2 Checklist: "My payoff is specific, realistic, and easy to explain in one sentence."Get Paid to Coach PDF ilovecoachingco.com/get-paid-to-coachILC Call to ActionIf your payoff isn't clear yet, start here. Grab the free Get Paid to Coach PDF at ilovecoachingco.com/get-paid-to-coach — it walks you through this exact process whether you're still in one-on-one or ready to build something bigger. What if the beautiful flowers we showcase on social media were just the perfect frame hiding a garden overrun with weeds? That carefully curated image represents how many of us approach not just our online presence, but our spiritual lives as well.In this deeply introspective exploration, we examine the concept of spiritual authenticity through the lens of Jesus's teachings in Matthew 6. Like those famous London townhouses with perfect facades hiding completely empty interiors, we're often tempted to craft a religious persona that looks impressive from the outside while remaining hollow within.Jesus presents us with a profound choice: we can perform our good deeds, prayers, and generosity to receive immediate acclaim from others, or we can practice these disciplines privately and receive a lasting reward from God. "Your method points to your motivation," and that motivation determines which reward you'll ultimately receive. The contrast is stark between serving others for social media content versus serving them simply because they matter. When we exploit vulnerable populations for photo opportunities or turn prayer into a performance art, we've chosen human applause as our payment. But Jesus invites us into something far more meaningful – a genuine relationship with God that doesn't require public validation. This isn't about never serving publicly or praying corporately. Rather, it's about examining our hearts and asking uncomfortable questions: Would I still give if no one knew? Would I still pray if no one could hear except God? Would I still serve if I couldn't post about it afterward?Though we'll all fail at maintaining pure motives sometimes, God's grace covers our shortcomings. The invitation remains: choose the reward that honors Him rather than ourselves. Will you accept the challenge to cultivate a life of authenticity, integrity, and presence with God, even when no one's watching?Support the showIf you enjoyed this episode, consider subscribing to Madison Church on your favorite podcast platform. The definition of connoisseur smoke often includes “indoor cultivation,” but what if we told you many of your favorite players have bagged up a particular brand's mixed light and sold it as indoor? You're about to find out why this was a blessing in disguise.Blackleaf sits down in the FSOTD studio with recurring guest and certified legend, Dave of Preferred Gardens, along with his core team, Alex, Mike, Blaine, and Nikki (also Dave's wife,) to discuss turning a legacy brand into a thriving MSO, winning the $60k Proper Doinks Z Challenge, raising kids and building a brand with your significant other, breeding in-house genetics, and the intricate and mythical nature of Preferred's methods for Quality Control.David Polley founded Preferred Gardens in 2015 in Sacramento, California. The company is renowned for its mixed light growing methods, and cultivating over 260 unique strains, including Sherbanger, Lazer Gun, Znackz, and more. Initially prominent in the medical market, Preferred Gardens now operates in California, Florida, Arizona, and New York, with more new states coming online in the future. They're even dipping into international markets, as you'll hear Dave discuss on this episode. With over two decades of experience in the game, Dave will shed light on how crucial being a cultivator and lowkey breeder has been to his success as a brand owner, allowing him to fully understand quality control, as well as set up his same facilities in different states and be able to make minor adjustments and thrive. He'll also discuss how he and his team are the sole barrier of quality control in terms of what they'll put out, and how to develop relationships with retailers and partners where their word is bond and that trust is maintained.Aside from Dave and his constant game-dropping, the rest of his team that's in-studio shed tremendous light on how they're each able to make this global operation work without ever giving into the big investors and corporate hellscape structure. Hustling is an understatement when you get to hear from Preferred's sales and management team, Mike, Blaine, and Chris, as well as their resident mom and powerhouse accounting, programming, and back-of-house champ, Nikki.Again, bringing up quality control, Blackleaf rattles off tons of bubbling questions surrounding how they define a keeper, what Dave deems as the proper cure time, if white ash really matters and how they breed for it these days, how important unique genetics are in the legal game, how to establish trustworthy relationships with buyers, their internal voting system for picking fire cuts, how they've been able to keep crops A-1 with The Flowery in Florida, and if you really need to be a passionate smoker to run a top-tier flower brand.Find out more by visiting preferredgardens.com and check back on any of our previous episodes with Dave and Preferred Gardens to learn more about his journey and imminent rise to the top.Subscribe to our channel and the FSOTD.com site to keep up with other key players and enjoy conversations with trailblazers from the culture you can't find anywhere else. Atlanta Falcons' rookie mini-camp officially got underway on Friday, and everyone that has a Falcons' media credential is on hand to see Falcons' first round draft pick Michael Penix Jr... the backup quarterback. Now this is not without reason. When the Falcons picked Penix with the eighth overall pick in the 2024 draft, it sent shockwaves through the NFL that has us still feeling reverberations. Half of the fanbase thought it was a great pick, and the other half thought the complete opposite. To catch everyone up, the Falcons signed Kirk Cousins to a 4 year/$180 million deal only one month before the draft. Because of this many, including Cousins, were thinking that the Falcons were in "win now" mode and would spend that draft capital on a player to fill one of the many needs on the team that would improve them this season, not a backup quarterback. So here we are at the start of Falcons' camps, and all eyes are on Michael Penix Jr., the backup quarterback, as they should be, but not why you are thinking. While Michael Penix Jr. is an exciting prospect for the future of the Falcons, Kirk Cousins is the starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. Randy McMichael and Abe Gordon discuss why there is no quarterback controversy in Flowery Branch.
