One is a concierge-style clinic; the other is an electronics store. But they both market the ways that they enable consumer-first care and imply that traditional visits to a doctor's office are a relic of the past. Forward Health is a heavily tech-enabled concierge healthcare provider that is reimagining the way healthcare is provided. I've been a member for several years, and routinely have used them as an example of creating delightful customer experiences. There's no waiting room. The physician isn't typing into a laptop but is focused on you. As you talk with them, the stuff you say gets automatically added to a giant custom screen in the room. Everything about it feels better. So when Forward founder Adrian Aoun agreed to chat, I was looking forward to diving into the mechanics of the concierge model and how they think about the patient experience. But what quickly became clear was Adrian's ambition goes far beyond providing creating a successful concierge business. His aims are nothing less than the complete reimagining of how healthcare is provided. In this colorful interview we discuss Adiran's vision for Forward, why the current healthcare system is broken, and how he envisions for the future.Learn more about Forward at http://goforward.comIf you enjoyed the episode, please leave a review! https://kite.link/disruptors-forwardPODCAST INFO:Podcast website: https://manifold.group/podcastApple Podcasts: https://apple.co/3EbkMEkSpotify: https://spoti.fi/3nqwNiDRSS: https://bit.ly/3ntcFw1Full episodes playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdnqR-lZH65HqCM09dwh6otuU7TArkq8JClips playlist: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdnqR-lZH65HrrlaeQZnf1sicFkprjpqkSOCIAL:- Sean Johnson on Twitter: https://twitter.com/intentionally- Sean Johnson on LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/in/seanjohnson- Sean Johnson on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/intentionally_- Manifold on Twitter: https://twitter.com/manifold_group- Manifold on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/m/company/manifold-group- Manifold on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/themanifoldgroup- Manifold on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/manifold_group/- Manifold on Medium: https://medium.com/build-better-products

Today on Health in 2 Point 00, primary care appears to have jumped the shark because there is a deal in this episode in which the investors on the round are probably Jess's favorite group of investors ever. Forward Health raises $225 million in a Series D – there's Softbank money in this round as well as The Weeknd – but why didn't they just go public? Patient billing company Cedar raises $200 million, bringing their valuation up to $3.2 billion, although I'm not too impressed by the concept. Finally, Babylon is making inroads into the U.S. from the U.K., buying a California-based provider group.

Barney studied at Oxford and Harvard Universities before working as a doctor for the NHS. His experiences juggling multiple pagers and sending faxes (yes, faxes!) on graveyard hospital shifts led him to start Forward Health with fellow doctor, Lydia Yarlott, and serial entrepreneur Philip Mundy. Their product is already saving healthcare professionals time and improving patient outcomes by providing a secure, efficient system for communication and collaboration. Featured in every big publication you care to name and with $5.2m in total funding since launch in 2016, their ultimate goal is to connect healthcare around the world.

This episode we speak with Dr Lydia Yarlott - Founder of Forward Health, the ‘MedTech’ startup connecting healthcare teams around the world. After graduating from the University of Oxford, Lydia began her career as a pediatrician. Not long into her working life, Lydia faced a challenge that thousands of healthcare professionals before her has already encountered - a lack of efficient technology solutions that would allow them to spend more time with their patients. Lydia, along with her two co-founders Barney and Philip, came up with the idea for Forward after experiencing these real-life issues, and have since been mentioned in “The UK’s Hottest Healthtech Startups”, 70 Ways to Save the NHS, and have featured on ITV and BBC news, as well as being profiled in The Times, The Guardian, Forbes, and The Telegraph. What we discuss in this episode: Find a big problem to build a big company Getting the right people for your team Building a SAAS company Time management Marketing and the power of case studies Metrics and measuring success And as always, plenty more... Our guest today is Sister Simone Campbell, Executive Director of NETWORK, a Catholic lobby for social justice. Simone is an important faith leader in the US and has been on the leading edge of the health care debate for many years. We will talk to her about her organization, her work on reforming the health care system, and what she sees as the short- and long-term steps needed to insure quality, affordable healthcare for everyone.
