Lamin Leroy Gibba ist Jahrgang 1994 und in Münster geboren, aber kurz darauf nach Hamburg St. Pauli gezogen und dort aufgewachsen. Nach dem Abi geht Gibba zum Schauspielstudium für fünf Jahre nach New York. Seit vier Jahren lebt er in Berlin und arbeitet als Schauspieler, Drehbuchautor, Regisseur und Produzent. Erste Erfahrungen sammelt er noch in der Jugendgruppe des Schauspielhauses in Hamburg. In New York mischt er unter anderem am Classical Theatre Of Harlem mit. Mittlerweile hat er sich längst einen Namen gemacht mit verschiedenen Theater-, Film- und TV-Produktionen. Grund genug für die europäische Ausgabe des Wirtschaftsmagazins Forbes ihn 2023 in der Liste „30 under 30“ in der Kategorie „Entertainment“ vorzustellen. Das liegt auch daran, weil er mit seinen Projekten der queeren und der BIPOC-Community Raum gibt – und weil sein frivoler Kurzfilm „Hundefreund“ für Aufsehen sorgt, sowie Preise und Nominierungen einheimst. Ebenso wie sein Theater-Sprechstück „Doppeltreppe zum Wald“, das beim Heidelberger Stückemarkt 2023 etwa den Publikumspreis abräumt. 2021 ist Gibba Teil der Initiative ActOut im SZ-Magazin, wo sich 185 lesbische, schwule, bisexuelle, queere, nicht-binäre und trans* Schauspieler*innen für Diversität, Inklusion und Sichtbarkeit in der deutschen Film-, Fernseh- und Theaterlandschaft positionieren.
