The 911 Heroes Run is returning to Annapolis on September 18, 2022 at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The 5K run was established to honor the legacy of Naval Academy graduate 1st LT Travis Manion who was killed in action in 2007. Today, the run, handled by the foundation that bears his name,  serves as his legacy and an honor to our local veterans, their families, and first responders. This year, more than 40 separate runs support the Foundation across the globe. Walk it, run it, or ruck it. Or just come out and cheer on those who are running on the 19th.   Today, we spoke with Natanya Levioff, the volunteer Race Director for the Annapolis race, to better understand who Travis was, how his family is carrying on his legacy, and how his now-well-known phrase "if not me, then who?" came to be! The Travis Manion Foundation will host the San Antonio 9/11 Heroes Run 5K on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 7 a.m. at Texas A&M University – San Antonio at 1 University Way in San Antonio. The annual race series unites the nation to remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and in the wars since, while honoring veterans, military, and first responders who serve our country and our communities. The American Heroes Run was the brainchild of David Clark who created the race based on the motto of "Patriotism Without Politics." The race honors first responders, military service people and veterans, the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and of course, David. It will take place on Sept. 9-10, 2022 at beautiful Rogers Grove Park in Longmont, Colorado. Distances are 5K, 9.11-miles, half-marathon, marathon, 9 hours and 11 minutes, 24 hours, and 100 miles. The course is a flat, very fast 1.05-mile loop that is half paved and half packed dirt. This means that every 1.05 miles runners will pass the fully-stocked aid station, bathrooms, and their own supplies as needed. All runners will receive a beautiful, patriotic-themed shirt. Valerie Cappelaere Delaney, a Howard County native and Naval Academy graduate who died during a training mission outside Spokane, Washington in 2013.
