by Patrick BromleyChicago's biggest and best horror convention returns! One of my favorite weekends of the year is Chicago's annual Flashback Weekend, the horror convention created and run by Mike and Mia Kerz that takes place in Rosemont, Illinois. It's three days of panels, parties, contests, vendors, celebrity guests, live music -- everything you could want as a horror fan. This will be my sixth year hosting panels at the convention, but I've been going to Flashback much longer than just these six years. I love it.This year's Flashback features a salute to 30 years of the Scream franchise, celebrates Halloween II, a Night of the Creeps reunion, features first-time Flashback appearances from Henry Thomas, Steven Weber, and the Silent Night, Deadly Night Santas, and even has Obsession co-star Megan Lawless making her convention debut (I get to host her panel on Sunday! Come on out!). Plus, this year sees the world premiere of a brand new Full Moon movie (relevant to my interests!), in-costume photo opps, Alan Howarth playing the score to Halloween II LIVE along with the film, a tribute to Svengoolie (the greatest horror host of all time), and so much more. One of my favorite things about Flashback -- besides all the cool guests and the chance to spend the weekend surrounded by horror stuff and horror fans -- is that it's a family-run convention and really feels that way. All of the proceeds from the con go into supporting the Midway Drive-In located in Dixon, IL -- the nicest and best drive-in in Illinois -- which they bought in 2007. I love that Flashback is dedicated to preserving the big-screen theatrical experience. From this year's press release:Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror ConventionJuly 31 - Aug. 2, 2026Hyatt Regency O'Hare Chicago, Rosemont, IL  60018 Tickets now on sale at www.flashbackweekend.comFlashback Weekend Chicago Horror Convention celebrates its 25th year with a MASSIVE Celebrity guest line-up, amazing evening events, luxurious after-parties, an enormous vendor room, and special Celebrity costume Celeb Photo-Ops.All of this and more, taking place in one of the largest and most beautiful Convention hotels in the World!FLASHBACK WEEKEND 2026 SALUTES;-30 years of SCREAM! Horror Icons! Tribute to the 1980's Golden Age of Horror!"OBSESSION" (2026)!!! On this week's episode of Kliq This, Kevin Nash and Sean Oliver settle in for a deep and wide-ranging conversation that goes far beyond wrestling. The episode, titled “It's Not Me, It's You,” touches on everything from Kevin's return to the road for a fan convention, to thoughtful reflections on grief, fatherhood, autism, and the emotional impact of connecting with fans face-to-face. Kevin opens up about what it felt like to get back out in the world after some time away, recounting his travel experience, interactions with fans, and a touching story about someone who brought him a photo of his late son that hit him harder than expected. He and Sean also dig into the kind of connection that can form between performers and their audiences—especially when people feel seen, heard, and understood. Whether it's the dad who listens to the podcast in the car with his daughter, or the fans who just want a minute to say thanks, Kev gets real about what that means to him at this stage in his life. The guys also spend some time talking about Kevin's run-in with Shannon Elizabeth at the con (yes, she owns a rhino), and the surreal feeling of chatting casually with Henry Winkler when your brain still remembers him as “The Fonz.” There's a moment where the conversation shifts into a discussion of autism and how people on the spectrum can be misread or mishandled by those who don't understand. Kevin draws on his own experiences with his son to talk about empathy, patience, and just taking the time to listen. Later in the episode, they analyze John Cena's current direction in WWE, breaking down the psychology of a slow-burn breakup between a performer and the audience that used to love him. It's not just about titles—it's about worth, legacy, and feeling like you gave your all only to be left behind. That leads into a great sidebar on Kurt Angle's criminally underrated TNA run and why that company never got the respect it deserved. As always, there are plenty of laughs too. Kevin recounts getting pulled over and ticketed in what may or may not have been a construction zone, tells stories from his days in the business, and somehow we end up talking about orbs flying over Daytona, chamomile tea, Ron White stand-up, and black shoe polish as a home remedy for ringworm. It's one of those episodes that bounces between hilarious, heartfelt, and heavy without missing a beat. Whether you're here for the wrestling talk, the behind-the-scenes stories, or the real-life reflections, this one delivers across the board.
