In this special surprise birthday episode of Brad and Abbey Live, Brad Zerbo honors his wife and co-host, Abbey “Blue Eyes” Zerbo, with a heartfelt showcase of her creative genius, spiritual depth, and contributions to the freedom movement. What begins as a regular stream quickly transforms into a moving retrospective, featuring original songs, videos, and commentary highlighting Abbey's journey from early YouTube videos and Q-inspired anthems to her powerful spoken-word pieces, comedic edits, and spiritual compositions. Brad plays some of Abbey's most cherished works, including her first Q song “Make It Rain,” her walkaway anthem, and their first musical collaboration “We've Broken Through.” Listeners are treated to a stirring performance of “The Lord's Prayer,” a boomerang news parody, and “Welcome to the End Game,” a montage celebrating the American spirit. Abbey shares insights on her creative process, the role of faith in her life, and how the Great Awakening helped shape her path. The episode is both personal and inspiring, revealing the story of a woman who turned truth-seeking into a mission of light, artistry, and courage. It's a love letter to Abbey, wrapped in music, laughter, and gratitude, from her husband, their audience, and the Badlands family.
We perk things up a little bit this week with an action/adventure war caper starring Ol' Blue Eyes himself, Frank Sinatra. Yes, it's Von Ryan's Express, a 1965 film with lots of practical effects and stunt work that is, unfortunately, mostly a lost art these days. The guys also discuss Sinatra as an actor, characters that keep screwing up, the goofy tone and music choices and much more. Also: MORE TRAINS. Next week: Bosnia! Questions? Comments? Suggestions? GGACP celebrates the birthday of Emmy-winning director and producer Allan Arkush by revisiting this in-depth interview from 2018. In this episode, Allan entertains Gilbert and Frank with tales of working at the late, great Fillmore East, crossing paths with Ol' Blue Eyes (and Groucho!) apprenticing for the legendary Roger Corman and helming the cult classic “Rock ‘n' Roll High School.” Also, Jackie Mason fails to connect, Malcolm McDowell talks to his crotch, Bruce Willis locks horns with Cybill Shepherd and “A Hard Day's Night” changes Allan's life forever. PLUS: P.J. Soles! “The Girl Can't Help It”! In praise of Alexander & Karaszewski! Zacherle introduces the Grateful Dead! And Allan (reluctantly) remembers “Caddyshack 2”! The idea that light-colored eyes are generally more fragile is pretty widespread. They're less resistant to sunlight and require more protection. According to Medical News Today, it's estimated that around 8-10% of people in the world have blue eyes. When our eyes are open, rays of light pass through the pupil, the black opening in the center of the iris. As you may know, the pupil dilates when it's dark and contracts in bright light. When light rays strike the retina, they're captured by photoreceptor cells like rod cells, which are involved in night vision and cone cells that enable color vision, among other things. What's the function of the iris ? Is sunlight dangerous for the eyes? Is wearing sunglasses enough to protect my eyes ? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! Lester Kiewit speaks to world renowned diversity trainer and teacher Jane Elliott who famously conducted the blue eye, brown eye exercise with her students to demonstrate the irrational and ridiculous constructs of racism. They discuss the expulsion from the US of SA Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool, after he was accused of being a race baiting politician by the Trump administration, and the fear held by right wing white America that fuelled the move.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
This conversation was recorded during The Jazz Cruise earlier this year, and it featured a conversation between two of our longtime favorite performers – vocalist Catherine Russell and guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli, with Catherine taking on the interviewer role. For the last few years, John and Catherine have been performing together in a project they call 'Billie and Blue Eyes,' spotlighting the music of Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra. John talked about coming up in the jazz and music world and hanging (and playing) with legends like Benny Goodman, Les Paul, Joe Venuti, Zoot Sims, Slam Stewart, Clark Terry, George Shearing, and of course, his father Bucky. Plus, John shared some stories about working with pop icons James Taylor and Paul McCartney.

Some patients refuse to be healed. Some wounds refuse to close. Tonight, on Horror Hill, host Erik Peabody invites you to step into the cold, fluorescent-lit corridors of a hospital where something far worse than illness lingers. A young nurse begins a routine shift, tasked with monitoring a patient unlike any she's encountered before—a woman without a name, strapped down for her own safety… and for the safety of those around her. But as the night stretches on, it becomes clear that the true threat isn't what this patient might do—but what she knows. Turn down the lights and brace yourself for a tale of creeping dread, whispered secrets, and a terror that won't stay confined to a hospital bed. Because some things can't be treated. And some nightmares don't end when you wake up. “Are you comparing King Diamond to KISS!?” KING DIAMOND is the undisputed champion of all things dark & creepy that scarify & terrify throughout the metal multiverse. In our humble opinion, The King should be deemed the official ambassador of Halloween. Through the use of the creative forces granted unto him by his Scandinavian homeland (and perhaps with a little supernatural assistance for added evilocity), The KING has been unleashing terrifying tales of gothic horror backed by a progressive power metal soundtrack that have been scaring the Hell out of audiences for nearly four decades (even longer if you count his time in Mercyful Fate). There can be no doubt that he is THE premier horror metal storyteller of all time, “The KING” if you will. When in doubt, always remember The King Diamond Paradox: “King Diamond IS Mercyful Fate AND Mercyful Fate IS King Diamond!!!” Get ready for a bit of trivia regarding the music video for “The Family Ghost” and find out which former heavy metal haunt in Atlanta was legitimately (actually) haunted. Understand that it's always better to go with “a super smart 6 than an ultra dumb 9” because without adequate brainpower, there's “no bone movies” (especially if she insists on “using her teeth every time”). Discover “the worst part about being married”, pay tribute to the “chili dog queen” and JOIN US for a trip through the gruesome tales of twisted horror from the mind of Hvidovre, Denmark's metal master of the macabre, KING DIAMOND. A priest, an A/C repairman and Ol' Blue Eyes walk into a bar... You never know who's going to turn up in the stories on Elly McGuire's podcast, Shaking The Bushes—Yoko Ono, Jonas Salk, Richard Hatch (Richard Hatch?), even a former President, to name a few—as she shares humorous and often unpredictable autobiographical anecdotes and social commentary about living parallel lives in her "cozy" apartment in Manhattan and her childhood home in Warwick, Rhode Island. What you think might be so different from residing in the biggest city in the world and in the smallest state in the union can actually turn out to be very much the same. Author and adventurist Elly McGuire has traveled the world, rubbed shoulders with celebrated people, and is now "shaking the bushes" of her colorful past. Visit the Shaking the Bushes website.
