Send us a Text Message.Arya acts as a servant in the House of Black and White. Despite her claims, she still can't shake her identity as Arya Stark. She decides to shed her worldly possessions, all except Needle, earning her a promotion to acolyte. Armed with a smattering of Braavosi, she's next to go out into the city and sell seafood. Mackelly and Simon ask for a menu.Chapter Review:Arya Stark is settling into life as a servant in the House of Black and White. When asked by the Kindly Man who she is, Arya dutifully says “no one.” Invariably, the Kindly Man says she lies. The Kindly Man tells her she doesn't have to stay here. He can place her in other environments she'd find more suitable or put her on a ship back to Westeros. Arya is insistent she wants to remain in the House of Black and White. One day the Kindly Man tells her she must rid herself of her worldly possessions, as they belong to Arya of House Stark. That night, Arya takes them all to the canal and throws them in. She hesitates when it's time to toss Needle. She thinks of the remarkable twist of fate that brought the sword back to her after it had been stolen, and decides that the Old Gods wanted her to have it. Therefore, she hides it under a cobblestone outside of the temple.Although she never told the Kindly Man of her actions, he seemed to know. The next day he tells her the history of the religion of the Many-Faced God. She's then given the robes of an acolyte. He also tasks Arya with learning Braavosi and teaching the Waif the Common Tongue. The pair practice by showing each other items and saying the word. In an attempt to help Arya lie better, the pair begin playing a lying game. The Waif seems to know when Arya is lying, but Arya just guesses. Eventually, the Kindly Man feels that Arya's grasp of Braavosi is good enough for her to go out into the city. She will sell seafood for a man, but she needs a new name. They decide on Cat. With that, Arya exits the temple into the Braavosi night, as happy as she's been for a long time.Characters/Places/Names/Events:Arya Stark - Younger daughter of Ned and Catelyn Stark.Kindly Man - Priest of the Many-Faced God.Waif - Priestess of the Many-Faced God.Braavos - A free city of Braavos in Essos.Multi-Faced God - A god worshiped in Essos that embodies Support the Show.Support us: Buy us a Cup of Arbor Gold, or become a sustainer and receive cool perks Donate to our cause Use our exclusive URL for a free 30-day trial of Audible Buy or gift Marriott Bonvoy points through our affiliate link Rate and review us at Apple Podcasts, Spotify, podchaser.com, and elsewhere.Find us on social media: Discord Twitter @GhostsHarrenhal Facebook Instagram YouTube All Music credits to Ross Bugden:INSTAGRAM! : https://instagram.com/rossbugden/ (rossbugden) TWITTER! : https://twitter.com/RossBugden (@rossbugden) YOUTUBE! : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kthxycmF25M

Who knows about it? Who have they told and who will they tell? and when?? How might it impact House Stark, the Night's Watch, Stannis, Roose, and the rest? There are so many players, and none of them have the full picture. Robb's will has the potential to supercharge the North at a time when so much is already happening, and winter is coming... Do you blindly love House Stark?? Or are you capable of objectivity? While DC Comics animation is untouchable, the Warner Bros/Discovery merger robbed us of an EPIC ending to one of its greatest shows. In Things Worldly But Not Nerdy, some new school politicians make their presence felt at the Biden Impeachment Inquiry and we mourn the loss of a star of the stage and silver screen.

Sansa sits with Cersei as the queen gets both news of the battle and becomes increasingly drunk. Sansa's heart almost stops when Cersei says she knows of Sansa's treasons in the godswood. Finally, Cersei reveals that Ser Ilyn Payne is there to remove their heads, if Stannis should take the castle. Simon and Mackelly scan the room for exits.Chapter Review:Sansa Stark sits next to Queen Cersei in the Queen's Ballroom of Maegor's Holdfast, along with the other highborn ladies. Osney and Osfryd Kettleblack bring updates regarding the battle. Both the King's Gate and the Mud Gate are under attack. That's too close for the queen's comfort, as King Joffrey is at the giant trebuchets inside the Mud Gate. She commands that he be brought back inside Maegor's Holdfast. The two ladies pass the time by Cersei explaining what being a woman is really like to Sansa. Tears and feminine wiles are a woman's weapons, she explains. She wishes she'd been trained to wield a sword, like her twin brother Jamie, so she wouldn't have to sit here so helplessly. But, despite being the Queen Regent of the Seven Kingdoms, she has little power to do anything aside from sit here with the other frightened hens, who she has little respect for.Sansa inquires about the plan, should the castle fall. Cersei says she will give herself over to Stannis, if Maegor's Holdfast holds until he arrives. If it doesn't, they'll be in for a rough night. However, later she reveals that she's kept Ser Ilyn Payne around in the event the castle falls. If that happens, Ser Ilyn will take their heads, yes Sansa's too. The sea has come to Winterfell. Bran is forced to cede the seat of House Stark to Theon Greyjoy. Mikken the smith is killed and Hodor beaten. Meanwhile, Theon assures all that they'll be treated kindly as long as they follow orders. Simon and Mackelly smell something fishy. Chapter Review: Bran has an extended wolf-dream in which Summer tries to escape the walled godswood. The wolf has no inclination to climb, but his Bran-half leads him up a tree. Summer slips and falls. On impact, Bran awakens to a pain in his shoulder. He hopes Summer is OK. A stranger enters Bran's room followed by Theon Greyjoy. Theon tells Bran to come down and inform the citizens of their new ruler. Bran, Rickon, Maester Luwin, the Walders, and the Reeds, are brought to the main hall. The 30 or so Iron Islanders have gathered the other citizens of Winterfell. Hayhead has a nasty wound, Alebelly has been killed, and Palla (who played with Bran and the Walders in the godswood) has been raped. Theon demands obedience, but Mikken the smith is having none of it. He spits vitriol at Theon until a spear is thrust through his neck and he drowns on his own blood. Fulfilling more of Jojen Reed's prophetic dream. Hodor wails in dismay at Mikken's death and is beaten by Theon's men. All the while Theon claims that the people will find him a fair and gentle lord. The prisoner Reek and Osha both pledge fealty to Theon and are given their freedom. Bran sees the second of these as quite the betrayal, although less than Theon's. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Brandon (Bran) Stark - Middle son of Eddard (Ned) and Catelyn (Cat) Stark. He was pushed from a tower by Jamie Lannister and lost the use of his legs. The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
Theon is winning easy victories on the Stony Shore of the north against barely defended fishing villages. He and Dagmer make a plan to do something a bit bolder. Theon hopes to impress his father Balon. Simon and Mackelly reckon that they know better. Chapter Review: Theon's Iron Born raiders have taken a fishing village and decimated the Wild Hares with a trap. Only Benfred Tallhart survived and he is in custody. The northerner spits bile and hatred at Theon for his treachery. Aeron Damphair decrees that the prisoner must die for his words. Theon, despite knowing Benfred fairly well, consigns him to Damphair as a sacrifice to the Drowned God. Theon feels little pride and glory in the victory. Innocent villagers and reckless youths do not make for great stories. In his mind, he compares what he's up to with the noble battle of the Whispering Woods. Clearly his loyalties are partly divided. In trying to teach a couple of his men a lesson about squabbling over booty, Theon accidentally kills one of them. The others don't care, this just increases their share. Theon retreats to Foamdrinker and talks with his old teacher Dagmer Cleftjaw, master-of-arms for House Greyjoy. Theon reveals a plan to give them both a better story to tell of this war. Dagmer will besiege Torrhen's Square. The older man doesn't like this plan, but Theon reveals that this is just a ruse to lure Ser Rodrik Cassel and his men out of Winterfell, leaving the seat of House Stark undefended. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Theon Greyjoy - Heir to the Iron Islands. Sent to Pyke to bring the Greyjoy fleet into the war to help Robb Stark. Stony Shore - Western coast of the North. Scantily populated and ill-defended. Benfred Tallhart - Eldest son of Helman Tallhart. Captured and interrogated by Theon Greyjoy. Drowned by Aeron Greyjoy. Asha Greyjoy - Elder sister to Theon. Oldest surviving child of Balon Greyjoy. Balon Greyjoy - Lord of the Iron Islands. Father to Asha and Theon. Victarion Greyjoy - Younger brother of Balon Greyjoy. Aeron Greyjoy - Youngest brother to Lord Balon. Priest of the Drowned God. Dour and devout. Known as Damphair. Dagmer Cleftjaw - Master-of-arms for House Greyjoy. Captain of the Foamdrinker. Episode 061 of That Was Disappointing is Live. Yer a tosser, Harry! Today's Theme: Harry Potter. We're the Crucio of podcasts. Our first topic is what the Mirror of Erised would show you. Betcha can't guess what Lex voted for. It starts with a B and ends with a J, but doesn't end with a Happy Ending. *rimshot* Low-hanging fruit, ladies and gentleman. We'll forever grasp for it. ❤️ Our second topic is the biggest differences between the books and flicks. Great question, Ken. It's not like any of us haven't read the series (if at all!) in over a decade. Would it have been too much for you to ask what happened on page 293 of Prisoner of Azkaban? Our third topic is how Warner Brothers would do a gritty reboot of the series. Why are you giving them these ideas, Art? Didn't the world suffer enough with the Snyderverse? Then again, Bruce Wayne is an orphan… Harry Potter is an orphan. That's gold, Jerry! Gold! Our fourth topic is where the Sorting Hat would drop yo ass at Hogwarts. Jeff's preference is House Stark and we're not sure how to break it to him. Meanwhile, Producer Kenny would like to wind up in the house where you're most likely ti live off someone else's dime. That sounds like Ravenclaw to us! Our final topic is really sticking it to that b-word J.K. Rowling: what would an Americanized-Harry Potter production look like? Matt's childlike whimsy was forever tainted when she vetoed the casting of Robin Williams as Hagrid. Perhaps it's time for America to give those Brits another lesson…

We get some backstory for the Vanko family and its relationship with House Stark. And what's going on with those bad conversational edits? And yeah, Kyle does some bad accents again.

House Stark of Winterfell is a Great House of Westeros in Game of Thrones. Ruling over the vast region known as the North from their seat in Winterfell. It is one of the oldest lines of Westerosi nobility by far, claiming a line of descent stretching back over eight thousand years. Sansa Stark ( Sophie Turner ), Arya Stark ( Maisie Williams ), Bran Stark ( Issac Wright ), and Jon Snow ( Kit Harrington ) are just a few of the characters we profile in this episode of Before They Were Famous.
John and Will talk about Codex: Space (not a typo). Tim and Dan fumble around into the wild west of the Deathwatch Supplement. Musings about practice games and RTTs.
We read the book and now we're discussing A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin. Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King’s Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert’s name. We take a look at A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, the first book in A Song of Ice and Fire. Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King’s Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert’s name. There his family dwells in peace and comfort: his proud wife, Catelyn; his sons Robb, Brandon, and Rickon; his daughters Sansa and Arya; and his bastard son, Jon Snow. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse—unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Even if you're not a die-hard GOT fan, you've probably heard the phrase "Winter is Coming." It is the watchword of the House Stark, which is one of the great houses of Westeros—or so I've read. A mantra of sorts aimed to remind the house not to think of life as a beach where you sip bottomless Mai Tai's while being kissed by the sun but to be constantly vigilant. Winter—for many, is synonymous with Christmas. And though we sing about it being the most 'wonderful' time of the year, winter tends to signify something quite different from jolly old St. Nick and his reindeer posse.
It's Week 13. After a "brief" hiatus, the boys are back with another thrilling rundown of the week ahead. We're just in time, as our Game of Thrones culminates into an epic playoff race saga. The attractive and talented Oberyn takes on the formidable Mountain as they duke it out for the #1 spot and first round bye. The wealthy Lannisters spend all their FAAB in a last ditch effort to secure an army. House Stark and House Fray prepare to cut each other's throats at a red wedding matchup. The Night Watch Rangers are watching the wall. (You just keep doing you, ...

The Ghosts of Harrenhal: A Song of Ice and Fire Podcast (ASOIAF)
Ned gets a turn on the Iron Throne while King Robert is off hunting. His leg hurts and so do the various bits of him getting poked by the chair - curse you Robert, and you Aegon the Conqueror. His comfort is hardly enhanced by news from the Riverlands of murder and pillage by Lannister-men. Simon and Mackelly consider every implication. Chapter Review:Eddard Stark is in charge and sits the Iron Throne. He's not thrilled by either the responsibility, (Robert is off hunting) nor the ergonomics. While Sansa watches on, he is confronted with news of atrocities in the Riverlands. Un-sigiled brigands have sacked three towns, killing and raping - but not stealing. The only clue as to their identity - one of them is as big as a mountain. Against Grand Maester Pycelle's objections, Ned strips Ser Gregor Clegane of his titles, lands, and life and dispatches a sizable contingent under the King's banner to carry out the justice. He gives the lead of this mission to Ser Beric Dondarrion. In so doing, he slights Ser Loras Tyrell and Ser Ilyn Payne (the King's executioner). Lord Varys suggests that this might not have been the best strategic decision. But we note that Ned carefully picked only men loyal to either House Stark or House Barratheon. Characters/Places/Names/Events: Eddard "Ned" Stark - Hand of the King, Lord of Winterfell, and king Robert's closest friend. King Robert Baratheon - King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men. Lord of the Seven Kingdoms. Protector of the realm. Aside from being king, he's also Ned's lifelong best friend. Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish - Master of Coin, member of the Small Council, and childhood friend to Catelyn Tully. Lord Varys - Master of Spies for King Robert. Ser Gregor Clegane - The Mountain who Rides. Lannister loyalist. Murderer of Rhaegar Targaryen's children. Lord Beric Dondarrion - The Lightning Lord of Blackhaven. Tasked by Ned to bring down the King's justice on Gregor Clegane. Edmure Tully - Heir to Riverrun. Seemingly in charge of defenses, while his father Hoster Tully recuperates from illness. The boys discuss the ramifications and how long one should wait in a stable before springing your assassination plot. Chapter Review Robb tries to convince his mom to leave Bran's side. Many people need her, and frankly Bran doesn't. Her refusal is interrupted by a fire alarm. Everyone runs off to the burning tower leaving Cat alone with Bran. She takes a horrible hand-wound and is finally overpowered. But Bran is saved by his direwolf who rips the guys throat out. Cat decides the nice doggy can stay by Bran's side now. We get right back into our discussion of Game of Thrones in part 2 of our trilogy. In this episode, we share our thoughts on favorite and least favorite seasons. Kristine’s favorite season included lots of Stark family feels, crying in front of delicious pies, and a memorable battle in the North. Jocelyn could not settle on just one, so she discusses her tie for favorite season and reveals herself as a sucker for a “YASSSS QUEEN” moment with Dany. Next up, we discuss our favorite and least favorite episodes. Kristine talks about the brilliance of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which happens to be both of our favorite episodes. Jocelyn discusses her runner up, The Lion and the Rose and delights in Varys serving up lots of side eye reaction shots. We balance things out with a brief chat about our least favorite episodes and then move on to our favorite major characters, both of whom are from House Stark. Jocelyn revisits the discussion from previous episodes about the importance of chosen family when talking about her least favorite character and Kristine talks about the shortcomings in the development of the Night King. As always, we drink, we know things, and we use adult language! Join us next week for the conclusion of our trilogy, as we share our thoughts on minor characters, character arcs, thirst traps, and what’s next for fans of the series. Afterwards we recap the college football season, and chat about our home team, the Longhorns, making it to an actually decent bowl game this year! We also have some predictions on the remainder of the NFL season and who may be going to the Super Bowl. Finally we briefly touch on college basketball and how we are looking forward to March Madness. Make sure to stay tuned for that episode! FYI, this episode was recorded the afternoon of Saturday, January 12th, so our predictions are not really predictions in the practical sense. Episode music is the Game of Thrones theme song by Ramin Djawadi.
Of the five contenders for power, one is dead, another in disfavor, and still the wars rage as violently as ever, as alliances are made and broken. Joffrey, of House Lannister, sits on the Iron Throne, the uneasy ruler of the land of the Seven Kingdoms. His most bitter rival, Lord Stannis, stands defeated and disgraced, the victim of the jealous sorceress who holds him in her evil thrall. But young Robb, of House Stark, still rules the North from the fortress of Riverrun. Robb plots against his despised Lannister enemies, even as they hold his sister hostage at King's Landing, the seat of the Iron Throne. Meanwhile, making her way across a blood-drenched continent is the exiled queen, Daenerys, mistress of the only three dragons still left in the world....But as opposing forces maneuver for the final titanic showdown, an army of barbaric wildlings arrives from the outermost line of civilization. In their vanguard is a horde of mythical Others, a supernatural army of the living dead whose animated corpses are unstoppable. As the future of the land hangs in the balance, no one will rest until the Seven Kingdoms have exploded in a veritable storm of swords....

Game of Thrones season 6 comes to a close with what has now been confirmed as the final episode 10 of the series with The Winds of Winter. This extra long finale was jam-packed with long-awaited reveals, climactic plot twists, and the set up for what looks to be the series' final stretch toward the endgame. The Cast Beyond the Wall is here to help you process what is arguably one of the best hours of TV in the last five years. It's been a theme running throughout the entire season, but last night cemented the rise to total power for all of our leading ladies including Sansa, Daenerys, and Cersie. Despite Jon being hailed as the new "King ind in the North"," Sansa still holds a key influence in retaking the north for House Stark and likely heading south. Cersei has remained somber for most of this season and it seems we were all correct in assuming that she was going to make a huge bloody action in the name of vengeance. We knew it was going to be huge move, but we never expected her to Michael Corleone the entire Tyrell regime. It was a swift move that's left her with unquestioned power and it came at the cost of her son Tommen and what was left of her humanity. Austin, Daniel, and I are all very excited to talk about the high bar this episode set for future episodes. This may be the season 6 finale, but The Cast Beyond the Wall will return for at least two more episodes this year! Next week we will be doing a season 6 wrap up with the rest of the GoodTrash gang followed by a special episode taking a closer look at women in Game of Thrones and whether or not the show is actually misogynist(this finale doth protest). Keep your eyes peeled for more! Tune in! Like what you hear? Help us produce even more by supporting us on Patreon
