A programação conta com filmes feitos por colectivos de cineastas que registaram os primeiros dias da revolução, mas também acompanharam as lutas operárias e as ocupações de fábricas, a reforma agrária e as campanhas de dinamização cultural e alfabetização, entre outras lutas. As escolhas mostram como “o cinema representou a revolução”, mas também como “os modos de representação foram transformados pelo próprio processo revolucionário”, resume Raquel Schefer, co-organizadora do evento e professora na Sorbonne Nouvelle. É um salto no tempo a um tempo de lutas. São histórias que fizeram história e esperanças que ficaram, para sempre, em película. Alguns desses filmes estão a ser exibidos na Universidade Sorbonne-Nouvelle, em Paris num ciclo de cinema intitulado “A Revolução das Imagens – Revolução e Descolonização em Portugal (1974-1977)”. Mas, ao mesmo tempo, os seus modos de representação são transformados pelo próprio processo revolucionário”, conta a professora de cinema na Sorbonne-Nouvelle.A investigadora sublinha que “o cinema de Abril é, antes de mais, um cinema que procura documentar a revolução”, mas que  também vai “reinventar os modos de produção” e “revolucionar as formas cinematográficas”.  O impacto é tão forte que “a revolução continua a ter repercussões formais no cinema português até hoje”, acrescenta Raquel Schefer.O realizador Fernando Matos Silva foi um dos protagonistas dessa revolução no cinema. Começou por trabalhar com Paulo Rocha e Fernando Lopes, ainda sob a ditadura, e o seu primeiro filme, “O Mal Amado” (1974) foi o último filme português a ser proibido pela censura e o primeiro a ser estreado depois do 25 de Abril.A 25 de Abril de 1974, Fernando Matos Silva estava na rua às primeiras horas da manhã para filmar imagens que ficaram na história e nunca parou. Com o colectivo Cinequipa, documentou os dias da revolução, da multidão no Largo do Carmo às lutas dos trabalhadores durante o período revolucionário. A Universidade Sorbonne-Nouvelle convidou-o a apresentar os documentários “Applied Magnetics” e “O Caso Sogantal”.“Eu tinha uma grande amizade com a Maria Antónia Palla, jornalista, lutadora. Ela ligou-me e disse: ‘Os homens vão aparecer na televisão todos a falar de política e as mulheres não vão aparecer. Não queres fazer comigo uma coisa chamada ‘Nome Mulher”? Eu disse: ‘Quero! Vou já!' Entretanto, a gente já tinha um programa sobre a juventude para fazer. É que os jovens e as mulheres iam ser esquecidos. Decidimos ir à procura do trabalho feminino que era o mais mal pago, o mais sacrificado porque as mulheres eram quase escravizadas », recordou à RFI o cineasta que teve, este ano, uma retrospectiva dos 60 anos de carreira na Cinemateca Portuguesa. [A RFI vai difundir, em breve, um trabalho sobre Fernando Matos Silva no âmbito dos retratos de Abril que difundimos nos 50 anos da Revolução dos Cravos.]Foram muitos os filmes feitos por este colectivo de cineastas e o posicionamento foi claro desde o princípio, recorda Fernando Matos Silva: « Decidimos avançar com essa luta e pusemo-nos ao lado dos trabalhadores. »Entre 1974 e 1977 viveram-se anos de “cinema revolucionário, militante e muito radical”, resume o historiador de cinema português Mickaël Robert-Gonçalves, que moderou a conversa com Fernando Matos Silva na sessão desta quinta-feira.“Houve um cinema revolucionário, que, na sua maioria, foi um cinema muito radical. Foi um cinema feito pelos cineastas que estavam a fazer o Novo Cinema português nos anos 70. In this episode of the Epigenetics Podcast, we talked with Mitch Guttman from California Institute of Technology about his work on characterising the 3D interactions of the genome using Split-Pool Recognition of Interactions by Tag Extension (SPRITE). Mitch Guttman discusses his exploration of the long non-coding RNA Xist, which plays a crucial role in X chromosome inactivation. He explains how they discovered that Xist is present everywhere in the nucleus, not just in specific locations on the X chromosome. Through their research, they identified critical proteins like SHARP that are involved in X chromosome silencing. The discussion then shifts to SPRITE, a method they developed to map multi-way contacts and generalize beyond DNA to include RNA and proteins. They compare SPRITE to classical proximity ligation methods like Hi-C and discuss how cluster sizes in SPRITE can estimate 3D distances between molecules.
