Your Humble Host has returned with Sounds Like Radio Volume 139 and it's anniversary time on the Great Gildersleeve as Marjorie & Bronco wish to renew their wedding vows on their 1st anniversary. They'd like a nice private ceremony but, uh oh, Gildersleeve, well, he has a different idea for the occasion. Could be trouble in the home, we'll find out today, as we listen to a Gildy show from May 9, 1951. Helping to sort all this out will be this week's team of singers-Vaughn Monroe, Al Jolson, Joanie Sommers, Bing Crosby & John Conlee. And in addition we will be remembering a special little singer, the girl from Ipanema herself-Astrud Gilberto. She just died recently and coincidentally we featured her just a couple weeks ago on our show. Today we look back and listen to the magic that Astrud made whenever she sang and Your Humble Host even has a rare 1965 commercial Astrud did and we'll hear that too. It's a nice salute and we hope you'll enjoy.
John Conlee returns to The Orpheum! Between 1978 and 2004, Conlee charted a total of 32 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, and recorded 11 studio albums. You may not recogize the name Bud Logan but he is the name behind some of country music's biggest hits like John Conlee's "Rose Colored Glasses", T Graham Brown's "I Tell It Like I Used To Be" and many many more. Bud was also a bass player for the late Jim Reeves. What a career and what a storyteller. Hope you enjoy Bud Logan with these tales!

349 - Bobby Braddock It's the grand finale interview of 2019, the last one of this decade. Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, with a man who has been called "arguably the greatest country songwriter of all time." Dolly Parton called him a "songwriter's songwriter." One of only a few people to be an inductee all three of these "halls" of fame: the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the national Songwriters Hall of Fame. My guest Bobby Braddock has been writing songs for more than 50 years and continues to this day. Some of the artists who have recorded his work would include George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Tanya Tucker, Bill Anderson, Willie Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Paycheck, John Conlee, Johnny Cash, Bobby Bare, Nancy Sinatra, George Strait, Toby Keith, Bill Currington, Joe Nichols and Blake Shelton. It is a great honor to present an interview with songwriter, record producer, and author Bobby Braddock, a man called "The King of Tears," by Malcolm Gladwell. It's a fascinating interview from one of the greatest storytellers to pick up pen and paper.

Country legend JOHN CONLEE's success began in the late 1970s. His first release “Back Side Of Thirty” didn't climb the charts too high. Three more singles also met with a minimum success, although they all charted. But in March of 1978, the label released “Rose Colored Glasses,” a song John co-wrote, which became a huge hit as well as becoming his signature song. In January of 1979, the label re-released “Back Side of Thirty” which went on to become a No. 1 record, and the hits continued. The Conlee hit list includes songs like “Lady Lay Down,” “Friday Night Blues,” “Miss Emily’s Picture,” “Busted,” and “I Don’t Remember Loving You.” He's been a member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1981 and was inducted into the Kentucky Music Hall Of Fame in 2006. John has just released an album called Classics 2 - available at iTunes - featuring many of his big hits. His latest single is called "Walkin' Behind The Star."

Born in Ottawa, Ontario and raised in Aylmer, Quebec, NELSON COLT released his EP Where I Belong last year featuring the singles Fingers Crossed, Right Where I Belong and the new one Across The River. The project was recorded in Nashville and was produced by Rob Matson. All songs on the album were written by Nelson and award-wining hitmaker Barry Brown. Nelson's influences include Merle Haggard, Ricky Skaggs, George Strait, Alabama and Alan Jackson. Another big influence was a Canadian Country Music legend: “We went to visit my uncle David for New Year’s Eve, and he played a guitar and sang some Hank Snow,” says Nelson. “I was in awe of that sound.” Nelson started by performing at the age of sixteen in his hometown, then he put a group together and did some touring in Ontario and Quebec for a few years. During that time, he entered all the talent shows he could find, and to his delight, winning first place in most of them. One such prize was the 1995 CKBY (Y101) Talent Search, where Nelson won a recording and touring package. Nelson has had the opportunity to be the opening act for several recording artists that have come to his area, namely Michelle Wright and John Conlee. With his new backup band named The Riders, his goals have come into focus, “Give the fans really good country music!” And that he does.
