We had the pleasure of interviewing Your Future Ghost over Zoom video!Your Future Ghost is the new synth pop/rock musical project of Billboard-charting singer/songwriter, musician and actress Kate Voegele and the multifaceted songwriter, producer, composer and actor Michael Grubbs. The duo first met on the set, acting in the popular CW hit TV series One Tree Hill. Striking up a fast friendship and mutual creative respect, the two began collaborating musically over zoom during the pandemic. After months of studio sessions in Austin, Texas, intermingled with lively backyard taco breaks, Your Future Ghost was born. Kate Voegele reveals the catalyst for their creative fusion, "our voices blended in a way that inspired us both to write in this unique hemisphere of a sound neither of us had ever really explored before in our solo projects." The two soon performed their signature dirty indie synth pop at the internationally recognized Art Basel festival in Miami to an overwhelming response affirming their artistic direction.Their upcoming album features a collection of joyful, wild and dark pop songs. With a powerful blend of big guitars, thunderous drums, and striking synths, Your Future Ghost has crafted an album inspired by, according to Voegele, "finding the fun, the party, and the refuge in the chaos of a post-apocalyptic world.”Leading single "We've Got Places" is a single all about about that place where you find refuge from whatever noise is going on in the world - whether it's an actual place, a person, or something else, I think we all have those places where we can escape the chaos and be ourselves," confides Kate. The track features stunning layered harmonies and lush instrumentation for an enticing listen.Meanwhile, the explosive indie dance party anthem "PRITTY" merges new wave, punk, and electro-pop, creating an intoxicating blend that explores the allure of infatuation and the lengths we go to tolerate someone's messy behavior. Kate confides, "The song is about being a little unhinged but also irresistible. You're self-aware enough to know you're kind of a mess, but you also not sorry about it because you're a god damned blast to have around. It's kind of about just knowing that the weirdest thing about you is probably also the coolest thing about you, and not being afraid to celebrate that even if it makes some people mad or uncomfortable."Inspired by community, their experiences in the spotlight, and the freedom of living authentically and unapologetically, Your Future Ghost embodies a captivating paradox. Grubbs shares, "I would like to encourage folks to accept themselves. Which isn't easy. I'm like this sadboy emo dude and Kate is this singer-songwriter pop star, and together we're making this dirty indie album because that's who we've always really been inside." Their music is poised to make a resounding impact, showcasing the boundless talent and unbridled creativity of Your Future Ghost. We want to hear from you! Today's episode is all about full circle moments. The last time I was in New York was when Lucas and I rang in 2020 with quite the adventure. But, I was back last week to shoot Alt Summit, which had been on pandemic-hiatus since March 2020. Yes, the last place I was before the world shut down was with some of my favourite people shooting a conference, yes doing our elbow greetings and not touching our faces, in Palm Springs. It was so special being back with inspiring women, and old friends and on today's show I'm sharing 5 of my top takeaways from the conference this year.“Just because you're not the best yet doesn't mean you don't belong.” Be sure to follow Kate Voegele on instagram and check out her blog she started with her sister, We The Dreamers.“Start where you are with what you have – then take the next step” I was so inspired by Julie Lewis' story. I highly encourage you to learn more about the 30/30 project, and give her a follow on instagram. Oh, and visit her website stillpositive.com to learn more about her book coming out in 2023.“Grief and joy can exist together.” I met Cyndie Spiegel at both of our first Alt Summit's several years ago. She had imploded her own life, and had this beautiful gift of making everyone around her feel so seen and loved. I have joyfully and proudly watched her build communities, start businesses, and write a book, and most recently have unfortunately watch her experience the worst tragedies imaginable. She showed up with love, vulnerability, grace and humour. Give her a follow on instagram, and check out her website. If you want to learn more about her inclusive community for 35+ women be sure to check out Dear Grown Ass Woman. I couldn't be more excited to read her new book, Microjoys: Finding Hope (Especially) When Life Is Not Okay, which is available for pre-order now!“The growth and opportunity is in the fear.” I am a big fan of My Unorthodox Life on Netflix so I was very excited to meet, photograph, and listen to Julia Haart's keynote. Be sure to follow Julia on instagram, check out their show (I think Season 2 is coming out soon!) and check out her book, Brazen.“Online friendships can be just as beautiful and special as in person ones.” I am so fortunate to have built really incredible relationships over the years at Alt Summit. We may only see each other once a year in person, but we are able to stay connected throughout the year and have seen each other through some big life stuff. I wasn't sure what the 2.5 year break would do - but we all picked up exactly where we left off, and I am endlessly grateful for it! Alt Summit is coming back to Palm Springs in March 2023 and registration is open now, and I would LOVE to see you there.Lastly, my Late to the Party segment featured none other than the inimitable Gabrielle Blair. From starting her blog, Design Mom, in 2016 (and being named Time Magazine's Website of the Year among other awards), to founding Alt Summit, and becoming a NYT best-selling author for her first book, Design Mom: Living With Kids. Most recently she has entered a new kind of fame for her viral twitter threads, and her first one gained so much praise and traction that it has become a BOOK! Yes, Ejaculate Responsibly is about to change the world by flipping the abortion debate on its head. There are 28 digestible, compelling arguments about why men are actually responsibly for unwanted pregnancies, and if we want to reduce abortions we need to have men responsibly ejaculate. It's available everywhere books are sold, but I ordered my copies locally in Toronto here. You must follow Design Mom on instagram, where you'll have a nice balance of beautiful renovations of the Blair family's 1600's home in Normany, France mixed with rage-y, funny, and mic-drop worthy tweet roundups. You should absolutely also follow Gabrielle on Twitter, at Design Mom. And, if you're not a big twitter user you're still in luck, because she curates the best of twitter on her instagram page, @twitterbydesignmom!I had so much fun recording this episode, and I hope you enjoyed listening to it. Be sure to leave a review and share with someone in your life who might enjoy it. And, stay connected with me on instagram, @findingsparklechasinglight and of course my personal account, too. Big thanks to Lucas for producing and editing the show, and of course Mike Halyk for the music. See you next week!

San Francisco born producer, engineer, mixer, musician, and songwriter Eric Robinson's first job in the music business was given to him by legendary Grammy-winning producer Steve Lillywhite. He never anticipated a short email to his hero would find him recording Trey Anastasio of Phish and watching Lillywhite mix U2 at the age of 19. Following his summer in Vermont and New York, Eric landed an internship at Royaltone Studios in LA. This quickly turned into a position as a runner, and not long after Eric was assisting on sessions for Barenaked Ladies, Ricky Martin, and Lifehouse with producers Ron Aniello, Mario Caldato and more. After 3 years at Royaltone, Eric left in 2005 to go freelance. In addition to recording, Eric was also getting busy as a sideman in 2006, playing guitar and keys for notable acts in the burgeoning Hotel Cafe scene such as Cary Brothers, Sara Bareilles, Joshua Radin and Jessie Baylin. This lead to international touring, television appearances and a live concert film with Sara Bareilles. On the studio side, Eric simultaneously struck up a working relationship with producer/songwriter Marshall Altman and the two had immediate success. The first album they worked on together was Kate Voegele’s debut for Interscope/MySpace Records. Eric played all the keyboards, most of the guitars, mandolin, accordion, and banjo on the record, as well as recording and mixing it. Kate’s record sold 250,000 copies in the US and the songs were licensed extensively on TV. Next up came Matt Nathanson’s album Some Mad Hope, which Eric recorded with Altman. The album spawned the double-platinum single, “Come On Get Higher.” Then came albums with Natasha Bedingfield, Trevor Hall, William Fitzsimmons, Walker Hayes, Rosi Golan, Bethany Dillon and Adema, spanning genres from pop to folk to country and metal. After establishing Marlay Studios in North Hollywood in 2010, Eric worked with artists such as Taylor Swift, Sia, Michelle Branch, Natasha Bedingfield, The Milk Carton Kids, Carney, Aqualung, Dan Wilson, P!nk, Rachael Yamagata, Brooke Fraser, Switchfoot, and Boyd Tinsley from Dave Matthews Band. Along the way, Eric gained valuable experience working alongside hit producers such as Ryan Tedder, John Alagia, Dan Wilson and Charlie Peacock. In 2014, Eric was nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year for his engineering work on Taylor Swift’s “Red” album. Eric focuses on mixing music and film score in stereo and 5.1 surround and producing/co-writing with artists. Recent projects include OneRepublic’s Netflix “Once in a Lifetime” in 5.1 surround, indie band The Lighting, the main title to the Netflix show, “The Haunting of Hill House”, country artist Nora Collins and pop band Castro. Eric works out of his own studio in Los Angeles, Marlay Music. eric-robinson.com

‘Get quiet with yourself and picture your life.' ~ Kate VoegeleKate Voegele is an internationally acclaimed musician, actress and artist who has been performing across the globe for the last decade. Kate was the first artist to sign at MySpace Records, landed a role on the hit show ‘One Tree Hill,' toured with John Mayer and created records that would debut in the top 10 on the Billboard 200 list. But that is only a fraction of her story. She joined Yogi Roth on the LIFE WITHOUT LIMITS podcast to share her creative mindset. Kate takes a deep dive into her process and how she ‘loves to solve creative problems' while inspiring others to create their art.A self-described ‘maximalist,' Kate is constantly expressing her creative self via a variety of forms and in a world where we can often be placed into a box, Kate does the opposite. As her career has grown and diversified into the design world with the We The Dreamers clothing line, she maintains on the razors edge of creativity.Furthermore, Kate is also a pioneer in the music industry, as she released the song ‘Shoot This Arrow,' which supports those speaking out against sexual harassment. She also shared her hit song Crooked Road with Yogi for the documentary film LIFE IN A WALK, which can be found on her album Canyonlands. An artist in every sense of the word, Kate Voegele will inspire you with her story, her process and her passion to allow her mindset to get 'messy.'Visit Kate at www.KateVoegele.com or on social media @KateVoegele.For more conversations on the LIFE WITHOUT LIMITS podcast follow @YogiRoth.
Ahead of Tyler Hilton and Kate Voegele's fast selling tour of Australia Dave G caught up with Tyler to chat about his music and of course his time on One Tree Hill.
She always thought she would find a career pursuing something as an artist, but in the meantime, she wrote songs and sang in the local coffee houses. That is, until she met this guy and her life took an unexpected turn. Join me in conversation with Kate Voegele, singer, songwriter, artist, and actress of the former TV show “One Tree Hill” as she speaks candidly on my radio show, “Entrepreneurial Voice” with Jan McCarthy that airs as a podcast.
Singer/Songwriter, Actress, and Founder, Kate Voegele, shares her creative journey and process on THE BRINK OF MIDNIGHT PODCAST. Growing up as a suburban kid in Cleveland, OH, in a creative household, writing and creating art with family was a natural and normal part of daily life. As a teenager, Kate played her original music in countless shows from Ohio to Pennsylvania and, despite label interest, decided to pursue college to ensure she was rounded out and considering all potential future opportunity. What she didn't expect was MySpace "first friend" and co-founder, Tom Anderson, sending a direct message on MySpace to inquire about her interest in signing with him. Taking a class that allowed her to visit LA and explore the industry deeper, Kate found herself inking a great deal and making her first record shortly thereafter. At a crossroads with the options of staying in college and facing the reality of an uncertain, but much more cemented path as an artist, she took the leap of faith, dropped out of school, and went for it. A few months after arriving in LA, she made a last minute decision to audition for a single episode role on well-loved TV show "One Tree Hill" playing a singer-songwriter and she nailed it. That single episode job turned into four seasons of playing a role reflective of her life and sharing her original music with her target demographic on a unique platform. She's gone on to make several more albums, including her most recent "Canyonlands", tour the world, and take back control of her entire catalogue. To say it all came easy, however, would be to ignore the grit, passion, work ethic, wisdom, and business acumen Kate brings to the table every single day. If you are questioning whether or not to go for a creative pursuit, or if you just want to live more creatively in your day to day life, this episode is a must listen. Kate's refreshing take on inspiration and her music just might trigger your muse to start knocking! - For full show notes, visit: - @brinkofmidnight (twitter, instagram, Facebook) - info@brinkofmidnight.com

Join us this week as we welcome pop funk music singer songwriter, Devon. Rising indie artist Devon has issued “Heart,” the first single from her forthcoming sophomore album, "What If I" Soaked in the emotional sun-draped acoustic-pop leanings of Colbie Caillat, Jason Mraz, Troye Sivan and Kate Voegele, the Philly based singer wrote and produced the song herself, which included adding the breathtaking harmonies of renown vocal group, The Bishop’s Choir, to help achieve the spiritual gravity of its heartfelt sentiment. Devon says about her new single "Heart", “This song is about letting someone into your life and allowing them to mean something to you. It seems like everyone nowadays is afraid to love - the ones closest to you can hurt you the most. I wrote this song when I realized that some people are worth it. It is worth it to love and to be loved, to be vulnerable, to let someone mean something to you, even if it breaks your heart.” In describing her musical sound she says "My sound could be described as pop-funk, but why stop at that? I'd say my music sounds like a variety of instruments that collide with the Counting Crows, N*Sync, Tristan Prettyman, and you!" We will talk to Devon about her upcoming schedule, get a behind the scenes look at her music, feature her latest songs, and ask her to share her message for the troops. Please be sure to visit Devon at https://www.facebook.com/DevonMusic and spread the word. Fans are welcome to call in and speak live with her during the show (718) 766-4193. And as always we will give shout outs to our deployed military listeners. Our message to the troops: WE do what we do, because YOU do what you do.
Curtis Peoples is a pop artist and singer/songwriter with a defined understanding of how to create dynamic yet radio friendly music that fans of both rock and pop can enjoy equally.Curtis' self titled first album was produced by Marshall Altman (Matt Nathanson, Kate Voegele, Marc Broussard) and featured songs co-written by Curtis and writers such as Ryan Tedder, Tyler Hilton, and Vic Fuentes. Marshall even liked the finished product so much that he decided to put the album out on his very own Galtline/The Control Group/ADA label. In the last eighteen months Curtis has traveled between LA, NY, and Nashville crafting and recording great new songs to put on his second album. He worked with a number of great writers during this process including Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift), Josh Kelley, Kevin Griffin (Better Than Ezra, Howie Day), Mozella (Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball"), Mark Weinberg (Matt Nathanson), David Hodges (Kelly Clarkson, Evanescence), and busbee (Lady Antebellum, Pink, Keith Urban).

If there is one word to describe the music of Kelley James, it would be "mash-up." Drawing from rock, pop, and the beachside vibes of his home state of California, James seamlessly combines acoustic guitar melodies with clever lyrics and freestyle vocal riffs to create a signature sound that fans and followers have grown to recognize and love. Most recently, James released his newest full-length album The Pattern Transcending. As the true progression of James' sound, the tracks features the best aspects of both his live shows and his studio prowess. The album debuted in October of 2013 and reached the top 20 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter charts.
