Over the last 15 years, Friend of our show Cassadee Pope has been a lot of things to a lot of people: leader of seminal pop-punk band Hey Monday. Season 3 winner of The Voice. Platinum-selling (“Wasting All These Tears”), GRAMMY-nominated ("Think of You,” a duet with Chris Young) country singer/songwriter. Ally and activist pushing for social change and a brighter future in a backward world. But through it all – the Warped Tour parking lots, tours with Fall Out Boy and Yellowcard, CMT Awards and chart-topping singles – she's always remained fearlessly, unapologetically herself. We are pleased to welcome back this Trailblazing Artist and Pal, to chat about being true to your principles, creating a legacy, Warped Tour memories, resilience, acting and more.

On this episode of March Forth with Mike Bauman, Mike chats with Maks Gabriel! Based in Nashville, Maks is a Canadian-American music producer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Having studied classical piano growing up at The McGill Conservatory of Music in Montreal, Maks had a love and drive for music in his youth that propelled him to where he is today. Prior to moving to the Music City, Maks worked closely with Ryan Kowarsky of the group RyanDan. Together, they wrote and produced numerous hit songs with multiple Canadian artists, including Massari, Danny Fernandes, Belly, and Mia Martina. That success included a Juno nomination for "Dance Recording of the Year" for their work on Mia Martina's Devotion album. With a love for songwriting that eventually led him to Nashville, Maks continued to make a name for himself and build upon the musical foundation he built in Canada. Over the years, he's worked with artists ranging from Clint Lowery of Sevendust, members of 3 Doors Down, Honey County, Muscadine Bloodline, Cassadee Pope, and CB30, among others. He also produced and co-wrote the song "Got It From My Mama" from Honey County, which reached 1 billion views on TikTok. Additionally, Maks' love for TV & film has led to his songs being placed on hit shows like Yellowstone, Nashville, True Blood, The Mindy Project, and Roswell New Mexico, among others. In this episode, Maks talks with Mike about his early love for music, including studying classical piano under the renowned Russian piano virtuoso Marina Goglidze-Mdivani, what he learned about music from that experience, turning down multiple job promotions to chase his songwriting dreams, what it was like starting over in the Music City, and more. This episode of March Forth with Mike Bauman also features the cinematic remix of the song "I Mean This" from Maks Gabriel and Clint Lowery, available where you get your music! After more than a decade of writing hits for others, Hannah Ellis is finally keeping some songs for herself. The Kentucky native's highly anticipated debut, That Girl(available Jan. 12, 2024), boasts 13 original tracks all co-penned by the in-demand lyricist. From the clever wordplay of “Wine Country” and “Karma On The Rocks” to the raw vulnerability of “Someone Else's Heartbreak” and “Too Much and Not Enough,” Ellis' first full-length record reveals a seasoned songwriter fully embracing her small-town roots, her real-life romance, and her newfound artistic voice on every level. Curb Records recording artist and country music singer/songwriter Hannah Ellis' journey – and world – is one all can feel at home in. The Campbellsville, Kentucky-native's voice - a mix of favorite flannel, sparkling pink wine and welcome - is the friend we always wanted. Whether pouring from a car radio or your phone, the act named to Rolling Stone Country's “Artist To Watch” list reminds you big leaps often come as a series of small steps when no one is looking. Having paid for her University of Kentucky degree with her full-ride scholarship, she – with the full support of her family – started chasing her dreams. Like so many, that meant a self-financed EP, and moving to Nashville to begin the endless rounds of writers nights, meetings, making friends, and trying to find your way. Hannah paid her dues, kept her focus and kept moving towards something she was sure she felt and knew was right. The fresh-faced songwriter, who has 40 million career streams, has since written songs recorded by artists, and been featured as a vocalist on songs, spanning multiple genres, including: Russell Dickerson, Carly Pearce, FOR KING + COUNTRY, Emily Weisband, Cassadee Pope, Filmore, and Sidewalk Prophets. The magnetic artist, who has appeared on the Grand Ole Opry multiple times since making her debut, has toured with Carly Pearce, Gavin DeGraw, Dwight Yoakam, Devin Dawson, and many others, and has toured as part of the CMT “Next Women of Country” Tour. Ellis was invited back by her college alma mater to be featured in a national television advertising campaign about pursuing and achieving your dreams. Hannah is one of the “CMT LISTEN UP” artists to watch for 2023.

After more than a decade of writing hits for others, Hannah Ellis is finally keeping some songs for herself. The Kentucky native's highly anticipated debut, That Girl(available Jan. 12, 2024), boasts 13 original tracks all co-penned by the in-demand lyricist. From the clever wordplay of “Wine Country” and “Karma On The Rocks” to the raw vulnerability of “Someone Else's Heartbreak” and “Too Much and Not Enough,” Ellis' first full-length record reveals a seasoned songwriter fully embracing her small-town roots, her real-life romance, and her newfound artistic voice on every level.Curb Records recording artist and country music singer/songwriter Hannah Ellis' journey – and world – is one all can feel at home in. The Campbellsville, Kentucky-native's voice - a mix of favorite flannel, sparkling pink wine and welcome - is the friend we always wanted. Whether pouring from a car radio or your phone, the act named to Rolling Stone Country's “Artist To Watch” list reminds you big leaps often come as a series of small steps when no one is looking.Having paid for her University of Kentucky degree with her full-ride scholarship, she – with the full support of her family – started chasing her dreams.

The first single that Carly Pearce put out to radio as a solo artist was also her first #1 hit. That song, Every Little Thing, was written by this week's guest - the amazing and talented Emily Shackelton! In this episode, you'll hear how Emily grew up in a very small town in Minnesota surrounded by music. She was encouraged from a young age to pursue what she loves and quickly found out that it was songwriting. Emily tells us stories about how she doubted her career in Nashville many times but every time she did, she turned to her faith and the right doors were opened for her. After first moving to Nashville, Emily entered into a BMI songwriting competition and won! Emily also talks about the stories behind writing songs for ABC's hit television show “Nashville”, starting a professional relationship with Liz Rose, and writing many other songs for Carly Pearce. She has also written songs for Reba McEntire, Jennifer Nettles, Sara Evans, Jana Kramer, Cassadee Pope, Lauren Alaina, Mickey Guyton, David Cook, Seth Ennis and more. When I asked Emily what advice she would give her 8-year-old self, knowing what she knows now, she said “keep going and trust god”. So cool and so true. Emily has a lot of exciting things happening now with two brand new songs of her own released - “Beloved” and “Our God Sustains”. You gotta check those out – they're amazing. She also has many shows coming up and lots more cuts to keep an eye out for! In this week's episode I sit down with the amazing Kelly Archer! Kelly is originally from Vancouver, British Columbia. Her songs have been recorded by Jason Aldean, Dustin Lynch, Eli Young Band, Montgomery Gentry, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood, Cassadee Pope, and many more. In this podcast you'll hear the story of how she grew up and how she dipped her toe into songwriting at an early age by re-writing another popular song; but how that made her begin to follow that path. She had a very eclectic taste in music and that also helped open her mind to a lot of different ways to write. Her dedication to do this in Nashville is so inspiring. You'll hear about the over 20,000 miles she drove back and forth from Canada to work and save money to come back To nashville and do this. That dedication has definitely paid off and although she was just about to head back home for good, you'll hear the story of how she got talked into staying and shortly after that she had her first #1 with Brett Young's “Sleep Without You.” You'll hear the story about that song along with her song “Somebody Else Will” for Justin Moore and “For Her” for Chris Lane. Hear the lessons she learned along the way and some great advice that she shares. It was a pleasure having her on and I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did recording it! Country/Pop artist Torrey McDowell is set to release her debut EP Not A Man on Friday, June 2. Written by Torrey and produced by Christian Harger (Patrick Droney, Michael Shynes & Cassadee Pope), this EP will take you from joyous highs to tearful lows as you experience relationship struggles and her journey to self-acceptance. “This EP is as personal as it gets for me. The songs will take you on a journey of self-acceptance, following intuition and love. Above all, I want listeners to feel empowered to be their true and authentic selves,” says Torrey. This EP is a reflection of the struggles Torrey faced opening up about her identity. It showcases the theme of wanting to find acceptance for who you are and who you love. The EP features four singles including the title track Not A Man, which is a heartbreaking example of what it's like to feel you will never be accepted solely because of who you love. The other tracks like Come Back to Georgia, It Gets Better and Outloud are available now. Having penned or co-penned nearly every song on this EP, Torrey showcases her songwriting skills and creative genre-bending melodies in this release. The latest single off the EP, Come on Back to Georgia, garnered mentions on AP News and was featured on The Q LGBTQ Creative Network's New Queer Friday playlist on Spotify. Georgia-born Nashville transplant Torrey McDowell is a survivor. Having battled depression and overcome an abusive relationship, Torrey owns her identity as a part of the LGBTQ+ community. She draws inspiration from all corners of the musical spectrum and has been compared to her influences JoJo, Jennifer Hudson, Kelsea Ballerini, Sam Smith and other cross-genre creators. Fans can pre-save Not A Man by clicking here: https://onerpm.link/NotAMan_TM “Working with Torrey on this project was such a blast. From the very first meeting we had, we had her vulnerability, authenticity and joyful presence began to steer the ship in the perfect direction," says producer Christian Harger. Each moment of us working together, she was a versatile songwriter with strong music business acumen.” – Tae Lewis, member of the Black Opry and previous opener for Ernest and Reyna Roberts “Tenacity and honesty are tough qualities to ignore when it comes to Torrey McDowell. She's prepared to shoulder the real things and put them in song, right out in the open. Torrey will be soaring before we know it!” – Leah Hudson-Binkerd, Banner Music “Torrey is an artist focused on being true to herself. She picks songs and writes lyrics that take her real life and find the beauty in experience. Her integrity as an artist is what sets her apart and will turn heads. Working with her is to spend time with a friend; she always brings her whole self to a write.” – Caroline Kid, CMT.com featured artist About Torrey McDowell What began as a love of choir and music in her youth ultimately blossomed into a passion for artist Torrey McDowell. In second grade, Torrey began songwriting and went on to earn a vocal performance scholarship to continue her musical passions at Piedmont University. Beyond the walls of academia, the Georgia-native's musical mission became focused on healing, growth and empowerment. Torrey's music creates a safe haven for music fans who seek comfort from the tough moments in life, serving as the truth and encouragement she needed herself just years ago. Through battling depression, overcoming an abusive relationship and owning her identity as a part of the LGBTQ+ community, Torrey draws inspiration from all corners of the musical spectrum. Some of her influences include JoJo, Jennifer Hudson, Kelsea Ballerini, Sam Smith and other cross-genre artists. On this week's episode, Cassadee Pope takes us and her fans on a journey through her career, from forming Hey Monday to winning Season 3 of The Voice and transitioning back into the pop-punk world with her latest single, "People That I Love Leave."Pope starts by reflecting on the very beginnings of her career, from forming Hey Monday to the band landing a record deal. She also shares a fun tidbit about how she ended up on a development deal with Richard Reines from Drive-Thru Records. As the only girl on tour, Pope discusses how hard it was and how she, as she got older, had to unlearn a lot of misogynistic things she learned on tour when, at the time, she thought were normal ways of thinking. She also talks about the importance of mental health while on the road and her hope to start an initiative to get therapists and counselors on the road with bands to help members cope with the struggles of life on the road.Pope also talks about her decision to go on The Voice after the Hey Monday split, explaining that it was out of desperation. She shares why she chose a career in country music after winning the show and making a name for herself in the pop-punk/emo scene. She also explains why she chose Blake Shelton as her coach and broke down what a typical week on The Voice is like revealing that it's brutal non-stop work.Looking back on her country music career, Pope reflects on her fondest memories but also shares the reasoning behind her decision to go independent and break away from a big label due to some cited toxicity and creative differences.Pope then talks about her decision to transition back into the pop-punk world and her new approach to writing pop-punk songs while bringing over that lyrical style of storytelling to which her country music fans are accustomed to. She also shares the meaning behind her new pop-punk single "People That I Love Leave" and her plan to release her upcoming album with a re-recording of one old song but with a pop-punk twist. Finally, Pope answers some fan-submitted questions, including her favorite lyric from the upcoming album, her first pop-punk album that sold her on the genre, and her ideal tourmates.Overall, Cassadee Pope's interview on The All Punked Up Podcast is a candid and insightful look into her career and personal life. Don Muzquiz is today's Journeyman. Name it, and he's accomplished it. A renaissance man of sorts. Tour Manager, Production Manager, Creator, Producer, and host of the “Road Dog Project”, a webcast that is recorded in a very unique environment, which is in tour buses. Over the years, he's worked with such luminaries as Alanis Morissette, Natalie Cole, Fantasia, Cassadee Pope, Jewel, Mary Wilson, Bo Bice, Suzy Bogguss, Jo Dee Messina, and Eric Johnson just to name a few. Don shares growing up in a family of musicians, how seeing KC & The Sunshine Band influenced his career at the age of 12, and what it's like to be a Tour Manager and Production Manager in today's world. Before welcoming this week's incredible guest, we reminisce on WoMed x New Girl reels, and applaud Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope for standing up to Brittany Aldean. Your hosts are then joined by registered dietician Kara Wilson, who has chosen to work specifically with nurses! She shares why she chose to work with nurses in particular, what she would define as healthy or balanced eating, and offers advice to nurses on night shift. Her and Jackie bond over how common tackling a shift on nothing but a coffee is—and suggests little tricks and treats to have alongside that much needed caffeine. Kara and your hosts talk about social media pressure and diet trends that are harmful and not sustainable, as well as the responsibility that comes with being an influencer. While Kara makes a point to acknowledge how individual nutrition is, we hope this episode reminds you that you're not alone in those shift-work struggles, or in combatting the diet culture that has been ingrained in us forever. If you are on TikTok, you may have seen the latest from Bulldog Nation on Stetson's Bennett and it's…well, not great. On today's episode of Cadillac Jack: My Second Act, Donna shares the background on the story that involves Stetson, his girlfriend, sneaking out of the house and…Ring cameras. Breaking News Alert: Caddy's undies have gone missing. More specifically, they've been stolen. Caddy tells the story about how his little blue luggage bag full of his leather boots and clean undies went missing from his car while he was out in the world doing good deeds. Of course, Caddy has a theory, and needless to say there WILL be a full investigation. Did you catch the inaugural “Third Episode”, Saturday pod release on YouTube? Caddy gives a recap on how it went and where he still has room to iron out the kinks. We promise to be back better than ever this Saturday so make sure to smash that subscribe button. Last, but not least, Brittany Aldean is embroiled in some drama with Maren Morris and Cassadee Pope over what they are calling transphobic comments from Aldean on her Instagram account. And THEN Candace Owens jumped in and it just spiraled out of control from there. Have you ever had something stolen out of your house or car and care to admit it? What was it? Text or call and let us know. 770-464-6024.
