Keith DeCandido: Articles of the Federation. In Star Trek, we are used to seeing mighty Federation starships exploring space and boldly going where no one has gone before. However, there is more to Federation society in the 24th century than the men and women of Starfleet: newly-elected Federation President Nan Bacco finds herself embroiled in one crisis after another as she and her administration deal with the fallout from the Tezwa affair and the surprise resignation of her predecessor. The first year of her tenure as president will be her trial by fire, and marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the United Federation of Planets. In this episode of Literary Treks, hosts Bruce Gibson and Dan Gunther welcome author Keith DeCandido back to the show to discuss his landmark novel, Articles of the Federation. We talk about The West Wing of the 24th century, linking this novel to the other novels in the literary universe, the huge cast of characters, various issues that the Bacco administration has to deal with, answer some questions listeners posted in The Babel Conference, and wrap up with what Keith is working on now and where you can find him online. In the news segment, we announce the upcoming Star Trek: The Official Guide to the Animated Series co-written by Trek.fm's very own Aaron Harvey, and report on the tragic loss of a Star Trek literary legend, author Vonda McIntyre. We also respond to listener feedback from The Babel Conference about Literary Treks 263: Traveling at the Speed of Plot. Keith R.A. DeCandido talks The Klingon Art of War. Every Star Trek fans knows the Klingons, and every fan of TNG onward has heard of Kahless. We know that Klingons are warriors, but what has shaped their society into one that lives for the battle? Passed down from the time of Kahless, ten precepts have shaped Klingon culture and indoctrinated Klingons in the way of the warrior. Unfortunately, we don't all read Klingon; and so these precepts have eluded us. No longer. In this episode of Literary Treks hosts Matthew Rushing and Christopher Jones are joined by author Keith DeCandido to discuss his new translation that allows people from all walks of life—and all worlds—to harness ancient Klingon wisdom and learn to embody courage, discipline, and honor. In our news segment we also bring you a review of John Byrne's new photo comic, "The Mirror, Cracked," which follow up on the classic TOS episode "Mirror, Mirror."
We're up to 1983 in our ten-part look back at the 1980s, and we have something special for you crazy kids. Back at DragonCon, Kevin participated in a panel called "1983 Geek-a-Mania in TV and Movies" -- and this week, we're sharing that panel with you! (Seemed like a better option than doing a whole new show, which would have involved time, and effort, and other such unpleasantries...) Kevin is joined by an all-star lineup of authors, bloggers, and podcasters: Van Plexico, Michael Gordon, Jessa Phillips, and Keith DeCandido! (And despite Kevin's best efforts, this panel isn't JUST about the 1983 Mr. T movie D. C. Cab.) And worry not, faithful Flopcasters: Kornflake is here too, revealing her very favorite song of the 1980s (and if you weren't listening to Boston-area radio in 1983, you probably missed it).
Jamie and Pants have a casual discussion about Comic-Con, the debut episode of 'Beware the Batman', and 'Pacific Rim'. We're then joined by writer Keith DeCandido and artist JK Woodward to talk about their Kickstarter for 'Dragon Precinct'. (1:15:20)

Our first episode has been remastered and re-recorded. This is an excellent point to jump into HG World as a new listener! The zombie apocalypse has reached the remote parts of northeastern Pennsylvania and local high school students Gray (Stacy Dooks), Caitlin (M Sieiro Garcia), Derrik (DJ Breau), Hicks (Ryan Smith) and Ronni (Rebecca Rinas) are stuck for something to do. They meet at the Wishwell Community Center where Pastor Douglas Dawkins (Mark Zaricor) is petitioning the local seniors to come with him to higher ground where they can ride out the metaphorical storm.
