Caroline's on Broadway, Dangerfield's, and now LOL! Another comedy club in New York City has closed! The LOL Comedy Club on Restaurant Row in Times Square, New York City shut its doors for the last time October 29th. The Times Square Comedy scene is an uncelebrated corner of the New York Comedy scene. Crowds who are “barked in” to a comedy show. No one in the audience is there on purpose. Comedians have to be in the moment and make people laugh. Tom Kelly talks with the man he believes is the“Godfather” of Times Square Comedy, Francisco Aldorando. Cisko gives tips on how to entertain a skeptical audience that doesn't want to be there. He discusses the history of 46th Street Comedy, shares why he may be happier than other stand up comedians and what's next for him now that LOL has closed its doors!

Tom has known Lucas Connolly is a stand up comic who has worked with Tom for years. Tom asks Lucas about some of his story about growing up with divorced lesbian moms. In the middle of the interview, Lucas reveals his mom was featured in the Tony Award winning “The Laramie Project”. The play is about the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. The murder was denounced as a hate crime and brought attention to the lack of hate crime laws in various states, including Wyoming. The awkward conversation segues into an existential conversation about the things that stories that define us and the stories we want to tell about ourselves. George Anthony is a force. A prolific storytelling comedian who has spent the last decade steadily ascending the ranks of the ATX comedy scene, George has parlayed his comedic success into a host of other original creative endeavors including the wildly entertaining podcast "Willful Ignorance", as well as the international sketch comedy festival "Battle of the Sketches", both of which he co-produces with fellow south Texas comedian Josh Cabaza. These days you can catch George headlining premiere venues across Austin including the legendary Velv Lounge on 6th street, Cap City Comedy Club (prior to Covid), and as of August 2021 at Rebecca Trent's recently relocated NYC comedy staple The Creek and Cave. Personally, George and Cody first met attending the open mic at San Antonio's LOL Comedy Club in 2011. Over the last decade they have performed on countless shows together with George usually assuming the top billing. In this episode George and Cody trash the government for an hour. Gargs Allard catches up with stand-up comedian and actor Brittany Brave. They discuss her personal history, current projects and the art of comedy. Bio from http://brittanybrave.com (brittanybrave.com): Brittany Brave is a NYC-based comedian, actress, writer, producer and host. Born in New Jersey and raised in Miami, Florida, Brave used these unfortunate facts to develop a line of comedy that is as animated as it is cerebral. Having both trained and performed at Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), iO, Second City, The People's Improv Theater, Magnet Theatre, SAK Comedy Lab, Impromedy Miami and more of the world's leading schools, Brave has accumulated more than 15 years of on-stage experience with a focus on improv and sketch comedy. In 2017, Brave began to perform stand-up and was quickly named an Emerging Talent by TBS Network at the New York Comedy Festival, and two short years later (2019), the festival selects Brave to perform on their Best New Talent showcase at Caroline's on Broadway. In addition to Caroline's, Brave performs stand-up comedy nightly at Broadway Comedy Club, Gotham Comedy Club, Greenwich Village Comedy Club, LOL Comedy Club, Stand Up NY, Yonkers Comedy Club, Lucy's Laugh Lounge and more. She celebrated her first tour in fall of 2018 with LA-based comedian Josh Novey (Jay Leno, Amazon Prime). The two performed original comedy on the Nobody's Happy Comedy Tour, traveling cross the Northeast U.S., raising money for Stronger Than Stigma, a non-profit organization advocating for mental health awareness. Not only an acclaimed performer, but an accomplished producer, Brave runs two critically acclaimed, monthly comedy show's Improvised Tarot at QED Astoria and Rock Candy at Rockwood Music Hall. Rock Candy is the venue's only original stand-up comedy series and has welcomed the likes of Mark Normand, Harrison Greenbaum, Sean Donnelly and more, as well as praise from The New York Times for being a must-see weekend comedy event. Brave has made appearances on TBS, MTV, Sirius XM, The Jerry O. Show and The Wendy Williams Show, and local networks like NYC's BRIC TV and BalconyTV, in which she was the on-camera personality for the Manhattan and Brooklyn branches of the series from 2016-2018. Her comedy, specifically her material on gender dynamics and abuse, has been praised by ELLE Magazine, Ashton Kutcher's A-Plus, sheBOOM and Ciao Magazine. Brave, a survivor and open advocate for domestic violence awareness, co-hosted and produced the podcast, Violently Funny. She also launched and runs Cat Call (@wearecatcall), a live platform and organization committed to advancing female leadership and camaraderie. The organization has established partnerships with Bumble, Sofar Sounds, Deep Eddy Vodka, SassClass and more. Brave does all this and is still somehow only 4'11? What a crime.

The guys break down how to write funny jokes, inspire the next generation of basketball stars, and swap stories of scammy promoters who try to rip off comedians. Jerry wants to know what happened to The Irishman, and the Wannabes hate on Best Picture winner Parasite even though none of them have seen it. Jerry works out new jokes live on the show. He's a boy-dad who identifies as a girl-dad. Is that funny? The guys go down the rabbit hole of Jerry's joke-writing process. Big off-season moves by the Dodgers got Jerry and Fernie hyped in the SPORTS MINUTE. Then, disgraced ex-intern Raul Reyes just dragged his ass through town. In the inaugural episode of Sarcasm Orgasm, Cody sits down with his good friend and hilarious comedian, Raul Sanchez. After starting comedy together at the LOL Comedy Club in 2010, Raul ascended the ranks of the Texas comedy scene at breakneck speed winning the Funniest in South Texas in only his second year, and subsequently being named the Funniest Comic in Texas and a Finalist in the Funniest Person in Austin in his 3rd and 4th year respectively. Now based in New York City, Raul has appeared on the prestigious New Faces showcase at the Montreal Just For Laugh's Comedy Festival as well as recorded a 30 minute special for the EPIX television series "Unprotected Sets". In 2018, Raul's bit "Grenade", a story about his time in the US Army, went viral garnering over 10 million views in just two weeks and launching him to even greater heights than before. The sky is the limit with his career in New York City, and Cody sat down with Raul to talk about New York Comedy, the old days in San Antonio, and so much more on this very special first episode of Sarcasm Orgasm. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/sarcasmorgasm/support

We are back again with more food and laughs. This week David takes us to San Antonio, TX where he worked with the lovely Kristen Key at the LOL Comedy Club. David and the Mrs. went and checked out The Smoke Shack where the ribs are smoked with HONEY! Meanwhile Andy had a blast, (and one super weird show), in Port Charlotte, FL at Visani's, The Comedy Zone working with Jim McCue who is apparently a little more famous than he lets on (or really, Andy is just an idiot.) Visani's is a restaurant/dinner theater and has the most amazing food, especially for a comedy club, so Andy gives it nothing but a glowing review. We tell you why you don't order pie at the Waffle House and you can't miss the story of Andy being forced to yell at an Old Lady. (She brought it on herself.) Enjoy!
