Era perto da hora do almoço em Luskan. Conhecida como a Cidade das Velas, uma cidade portuária na foz do Rio Mirar, na Costa da Espada do Norte. Se fosse um lugar normal as crianças estariam brincando, contudo houve uma briga. O pestinhas tinham por volta dos 7 anos, de um lado um rapaz magro, pele escura, orelhas pontudas, olhos amendoados e cabelos aparentemente prateados, naquele momento eram beges de tão sujos. Ele estava dentro de um saco de grãos com aberturas para os braços, pernas e a cabeça, considerando-o sua veste. Do outro, um garoto de aparência robusta, ossos largos, cabelos encaracolados, amarelos e brilhantes. Seus olhos eram azuis como um céu límpido de uma tarde primaveril e suas vestes eram de tecidos caros, tão bem alinhados quanto fosse possível a um excelente alfaiate de uma família abastada. As demais crianças torciam, gritavam e incentivavam a briga. Ambos rolavam pelo chão aos tapas, mordidas e beliscões. E tão logo a disputa se encerrou, todos começaram a debandar exceto o perdedor, que deitado no chão levantou o braço esquerdo, apontou o punho cerrado para o céu e disse em tom de ameaça: – Se insultar minha mãe novamente, William, provará minha ira mais uma vez!!! William apenas se virou, cuspiu sobre o derrotado e disse: – Vá se danar Égout!!! Ambos voltariam a brincar e a brigar novamente. Afinal, assim eram as crianças daquela região. O jovem William sempre diminuía o pobre Babel, lhe atribuía apelidos, entre eles, um que vai carregar pelo resto da vida: Égout ou esgoto em uma língua antiga. Idioma do qual o rechonchudo se gabava por saber algumas palavras. Em contrapartida, o pobre garoto jamais se apequenou e não se deixava insultar, apesar de sempre apanhar. Assim era o relacionamento de William e Babel. O primeiro, um garoto de classe média alta, cujo pai era um importante ourives da região. O segundo, um bastardo, cuja mãe trabalhava como cortesã, na taverna Jax Caolho, a mais frequentada da cidade. As confusões dos dois meninos, sempre repercutiam pela cidade. E nesse momento os amigos de sua mãe, em sua maioria músicos da taverna, geralmente intervinham. Eles iam resgatar o garoto maltrapilho, ofereciam-lhe banho, remédios, comida e um aposento para repouso. Além é claro de entretenimento e ensinamentos, músicas e rimas, a pedido da senhora Vivian Durand, a meretriz mais atraente da bodega local ou simplesmente a mãe de Babel, uma elfa negra legítima. Apesar de sua profissão, Vivian fazia todo o possível para estar presente na vida de seu filho, muito amável diariamente lhe contava uma história fantástica, advinda das aventuras de seus amantes ou mesmo dos livros que gostava de ler. Nesses momentos mais intimistas, o garoto chorava, contava sobre suas derrotas, seus sentimentos e perguntava sobre o paradeiro do pai. E sua mãe sempre lhe dizia palavras doces e reconfortantes, mas mudava de assunto, lhe pedia para esquecer aquele que jamais retornaria. Com o tempo o jovem, Babel “Égout” Durand, começou a entender o que sua mãe fazia, e porque desconversava quando o assunto paternidade vinha à tona. Passou a buscar alternativas para tirá-la dessa vida. Ele começou a trabalhar na taverna aos 10 anos como aprendiz de cervejeiro. Aos 12 assumiu o cargo de atendente e aos 14 tornou-se balconista taverneiro. Todavia, o dinheiro que o trabalho lhe assegurava era insuficiente para realizar seu sonho. Last we left the Mercs 4 Hire, they awoke to find a strange and off putting figure floating outside their rooms. After introducing himself as Dzaan he lead the group towards the dinning hall. some of the Mercs we suspicious of their guide and waiting to eat till they were sure the meal wasn't poisoned. After some more conversation, prodding and a successful History check it was discovered that the creepy figure was a Red Wizard of Thay, on the run from both his brethren and the Brotherhood in Luskan. They met again with Krowen who informed them more about the giant threat and pointed them toward some possible routes to gain more insight. After a quick stop at the in house, and family run everything shop to resupply, they travel by teleportation to Yartar. After a quick search for the Prodigal Zymorven they found him in the prison. He confessed he had murdered someone but would only help them find the weapon he took if they broke him out. After a few random adventures and deadly encounters, our adventurers left Luskan, the run down City of Sails. After leaving behind a rather trying ordeal, they travelled across the country side. They followed the road to the city of Miramar. This road led them to a strange sight. A battle had taken place on the road between some humanoids and some giants. This battle appeared to have no winners, though Siren spotted some giant sized foot prints leaving the battlefield. They also noticed that whoever had done funeral rights gave the giants no care, but made pyres for the humanoids. The party quickly moved on hoping not to find trouble. They arrived at Mirabar and proceeded to look for lodging. This was delayed as Peanut was suddenly struck by the need to hit something. Some of the party made their way to the Undercity, a district underground and solely occupied by the dwarves. They located a pit fight and approached the manager asking to participate. Peanut fought solo and dominated, whilst Olmec dragged Odie to victory in a duo match. Leaving the Town of Huddlestone, our party of adventures traveled north to the dwarves of Ironmaster to relay a plea from their kindred in Bryn Shander, asking for reinforcements. Having completed their task, the party then traveled south to Luskan, the City of Sails. After haggling with a guard asking for a toll, Siren gave him rocks magiked to look like coins. They found an inn, got some rest and awoke to find their wagon and horses stolen. The party tracked their stolen property to a warehouse where an ambush was sprung. Ahme, Mirabella, and Bosera made the treacherous journey from Luskan to the remote settlement of Bryn Shander. After delivering supplies to the desperate town, the party was tasked by the town speaker, Duvessa Shane and their new companion, Hlin Trollbane, to solve a series of murders. Together with Hlin, the party set out for the town of Good Mead to meet up with a dwarven contact named Hefrumlir Warbraids who had intel on the murdered, but just as the party arrived, a more pressing matter presented itself. The crew of the Grimm Prospects investigates a mysterious dead drow gunslinger on the street outside the Seven Sails Inn, then drops in on the Uthgardt Elk Tribe selling slaves to other drow and some Calishites! A battle ensues and Yngvar demonstrates how not to go through a Blade Barrier! The drow of House Tanor'Thal escape, the Elk Tribe loses their chief Zokan Thunderer and many of their warriors and shaman. The slaves are rescued and freed! A partial recipe for brassla is recovered, and an interview with Druette the Raven yields the spellbook of Nuldus of Turtorn and several indications that she's mixed up in the Kraken Society. This info gets reported back to "Zardoz Zord" and the crew prepares to return south to Neverwinter.

Thankful for the rescue of their iceberg, the Harpers hand out treasure and want to find the secret Luskan recipe for brassla! At Fishers Float, Mireene Driftman offers to cook breakfast but holds out on information, so the crew invades her basement and fights chuuls, cultists, a deep scion, and a red slaad! Yngvar learns to hate druids! The deep scion escapes but a cultist reveals that Slarkrethel the Kraken will rise and destroy everyone! Setting sail for Luskan, the crew witnesses the destructive power of the white dragon Iceclaws. In the City of Sails, Yngvar and Galron are invited by Frosttouch Wiskar Strom of the Church of Auril the Frostmaiden to particpate in the Last Storm rite with clerics of Umberlee, Talos, and Auril. The brothers help impress the crowd with their storm magic and Yngvar gets some clarification about Slarkrethel and Umberlee from Dread Wave of Fury Malakia. Grimm runs into fan favorite Zardoz Zord, whose flagship the Eyecatcher he noticed in the harbor, and they reminisce about Waterdeep, nimblewrights, and Zardoz's goal for Luskan to go legit and join the Lords' Alliance. At the Seven Sails Inn, Galron tries to learn the secret recipe for brassla, and in a conversation with the High Captains, Throa Taerl tells Grimm that the undead pirates that invaded Neverwinter report to the black dragon Garrundar the Vile on Pirates Skyhold. Contains content from Call from the Deep with a lot of other Forgotten Realms lore thrown in.

In Neverwinter, it seems like everyone and Grimm's brother is giving the party new quests! We start with an arbitrage marketplace report and some adventures Yngvar and Mouse had between sessions, then the party meets with a succubus named Rohini who wants revenge on whoever ordered the murder of the aboleth Kzixxaro, Mardred the Many who wants a spellbook of the Arcane Brotherhood, Harbormaster Len-Jes who wants her mercenaries from Mintarn, Gilby Crommor who wants Grimm to buy him more brass in Luskan, and Lord Neverember who wants the pirate attack investigated! But, when the Harpers offer a teleportation circle trip to "the Berg", our heroes find themselves on the iceberg of Oyaviggaton talking to ice toads and battling yetis, ice trolls, cultists, and a wizard and her wyvern to free some Harpers and get the magical Berg back in Harper hands! Uses material from Call from the Deep and Rise of Tiamat along with other Forgotten Realms lore.

Welcome everybody to episode 42 of the Football United vs Soccer City podcast. I would like to sincerely thank all the interviewees, listeners and the soccer public of the Illawarra/Australia who download this podcast. Additionally I would like to say thank you to the people who contribute, comment and reminisce on the social media pages. Please note if you have any Illawarra soccer team pictures, newspaper articles, programmes or artefacts that you would like to share please get in contact with me.This episode’s interviewee was born in 1955 in Oyster Bay in the Sutherland Shire, where he played for the Georges River Tigers in 1963. In 1966 Phil Luskan then moved to the North Sutherland Rockets. In 1967 Phil moved to the Illawarra as his Dad had a job down here in the area. Due to this move he joined the Dapto Olympic Football Club in the junior ranks. In 1970 as a 15 year old Phil was picked to play first grade at Dapto Olympic. Playing out of Lakelands Oval, Phil learnt the goalkeeping trade amongst men.During this period Phil was additionally playing soccer at school and made the Southern Illawarra High Schools representative team. The Dapto High student then was selected along with other Illawarra players Mile Terziovski and Brian Dodd in the 1973 NSW Combined High Schools team. This team travelled to Adelaide to play in the Australian Championship, playing three games. The NSW team drew their 3 games and held onto the Australian Championship as they held it from the previous carnival. The highlight of this carnival was playing alongside future Socceroos in Mark Jankovics and John Kosmina.Late in 1973 Phil started training with St George Budapest along players such as Jim Fraser, Manfred Schafer and Johnny Warren. Although a great experience, Phil decided to trial locally with Balgownie who were in the 2nd division of the state league. In 1974 after being selected by Balgownie he played under coach George Ramage at Balgownie Sportsground. In this stint he played with some great players that year and it culminated in Phil being award Balgownie Soccer Club’s player of the year and additionally in April 1974 Phil played with Balgownie against an Australian Second XI in a warm up game for the Australian team as part of their preparations for the World Cup in Germany that year. After the first few weeks of 1975 he stopped playing with Balgownie due to work and life commitments. He then returned to Dapto for a couple of seasons.In 1977 he joined Figtree and it is here where he spent the rest of his soccer career. At Figtree, Phil spent time in both first grade and reserve grade and additionally was on the committee up until his retirement at the end of 1985 season. Here Phil spent just under ten years and amassed some fantastic friendships which endure through to today. And Phil is clear about the joy and ongoing friendships he has from his West Figtree playing days, which says a lot about him and the people at the club.It was fantastic and a pleasure to interview Phil. My respect goes out to him and his wife Kate for allowing me into their home and giving up their time. Phil’s journey was a pleasure to record and I hope you enjoy the interview as much as I enjoyed recording it.
