Mumbai's Chattrapati Shivaji Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world. Last year alone, it handled 528 lakh passengers. Most people in Mumbai agree that their city needs another airport. To reduce the congestion at the Chhatrapati Shivaji airport, the Maharashtra government has decided to build another one, in Navi Mumbai. The Navi Mumbai airport is supposed to ease the stress that travelers experience. But, when The Core's Zinal Dedhia traveled from Lower Parel to Navi Mumbai, and later to Malad, it took a whopping four hours in total. One and a half hours to the airport, and two and a half on the way back. Already, people in Mumbai spend too much time stuck in traffic. Will this new airport make it worse? 9 years, ~320 episodes.4 co-hosts, 6 producers, so many folks behind the scenes. Some 50 guests, thousands (!) of listeners, hundreds of thousands (!!!!) of downloads. Well, folks, it's time for the curtains to fall on our little show. Simblified started as an exercise to stave off some boredom long back in Malad with nothing more than the voice recorded app on an Android phone, and our idea of sound engineering was turning off the fan. Along the way, we've collected two more co-hosts and apparently many fans! It's finally time to bid goodbye. But before we go, we owe you one final episode and it's an absolute doozy and dare I say our most emotional one yet. We delve into the reasons why we're stopping the show, what each of us has taken away from hosting it, and importantly, what more we are up to. Because we don't intend to stop creating content anytime soon - the Simblified Cinematic Universe will include new podcasts, newsletters, books (!), and who knows what else. The four hosts remain massive friends and there's no doubt something involving a combination will surface somewhere soon. The episode also features some absolutely touching voice notes from fans and folks who made the show possible. On that note, a massive shout out to our partners at IVM Podcasts, without whom this show would have probably died 300 episodes ago. Thank you to everyone who listened, and recommended, and wrote in to us. We joke that there were 5 Simblified listeners, but we know there are many more. Some of you have even come up to us at music festivals, some have made joke websites for us, and for many of you it's part of your Monday schedule! We're genuinely humbled and thrilled that we had such an impact on your lives and apparently the entire podcasting ecosystem. Our social links are below. The band formerly advertised as emo, Tearjerker, have trundled down from Sunderland this week and come in for high praise from your two favourite fat lads.We discuss their brand new self titled LP (released on Little Rocket Records this month), various Sunderland venues, helpful european truckers, unhelpful kebab shop owners and roadside recovery services in the South of England and of course, the boys smile and nod as we ask them your frankly weird questions.Tom's been a last minute DJ, Niall has been ill again and we act out an interview that we were sent.Music for you this week is from The Dwarves, Malad, Failures The Puncturists and Making Friends.

Imagine going on a holiday, where you can get around in only one of three ways - walking, riding a donkey or riding a bicycle. You would also have to carry your suitcases and bags around with no taxi to transport it around. This would be true if you went to places like the island Hydra in Greece, the city of Ghent in Belgium and many islands in Maldives. To talk about how interesting or difficult life would be in such islands, we are joined by Renee Agarwal from Emerald Heights International School, Indore and Anjaneya Navin from Bunt Sangha's S M Shetty International School & Junio College, Mumbai. Special mention: Podcast cover by Asad Khan, Grade 3 (Children's Academy, Malad) is a remarkable depiction of how green life would be with just bicycles :)Support the showTo subscribe for your free copy of the newsletter: please click hereIf you would like to get whatsapp alerts about new episodes: please click here To speak on the show as a co-host: follow us on Instagram to find out how If you like what you're listening to, please do support us by contributing whatever you like, and for some exclusive benefitsSend us your comments at hello@wsnt.in.

And we're back! Sorry for the delay. In this episode, I talk to Patrick Mullen, Vice President of Arctaris Impact Investors. Patrick has a fascinating background in finance and impact investing with a recent focus on rural communities and Opportunity Zones. Patrick and I talk about Opportunity Zones - what they are, how they work, and what he would like to see them do better. We talk about the importance of regional planning, public/private partnerships, why he was in Malad recently, and how you have to show up and listen, time and again, in rural communities if you want to build trust and help. We end, as always, with the Road Trip Music Question.
Is the renaming of a sports complex in Mumbai's Malad after Tipu Sultan and stopping unfurling of Indian Tricolour in front of Jinnah Centre of AP's Guntur isolated instances, or designed to help Akhilesh? Hamid Ansari speaking at IAMC platform, which is sponsored by ISI a coincidence? Sanjay Dixit explains that they are carefully calibrated to polarise the Muslims in UP.
In this episode, I talk to Chris Jensen, florist and owner of Daisy Hollow Floral in Malad, Idaho. Chris and his shop are beloved in Malad and throughout rural Southeast Idaho. We talk about how Chris came to be a florist and rural small business owner (he bought and took over the shop at age 21!) and the importance of family and community. Chris also provides some interesting insights on the behind-the-scenes of how flowers get from wholesalers to an arrangement on a rural kitchen table. We talk about the most popular flowers and flower holidays in Malad and we end, as always, with the Road Trop Music Question. The following is an unedited transcript. At 11:00 last Friday, I was standing alone outside a 120 ft pigeon loft in Fielding, Utah, scanning the sky for incoming birds. A few minutes later, the loft owner, Derek Alder, pulled into the driveway. "I passed them in Malad," he said, hopping out of his truck. “They should be here in about 10 minutes." Earlier that morning, Derek had driven 250 pigeons to Spencer, Idaho, 180 miles away. He had released them at 8 a.m. and had barely beaten them home.
Do you know about the mysterious food poisoning that gave Box Elder County's Malad River its name?

How COVID-19 affected slum-dwellers didn’t receive the attention it deserved. Loss of livelihood and congested conditions made them vulnerable on multiple levels. No wonder it was estimated in mid-2020 that 57% of slum-dwellers could be positive for coronavirus antibodies. Salma Memon, founder of the UMEED Foundation, who works extensively in the slums of Mumbai’s Malad suburb details the heartbreak of slum life during the lockdown.

Tony Gibbs joins the podcast to talk about the Malad Boys Basketball program. The Dragons won the consolation trophy at this year's 2A tournament after reaching state for the first time since 2006. Gibbs is entering his fourth season as head coach, and he spent two years as Malad's JV coach. Gibbs shares how Malad battled through injuries and a series of loser-out games to qualify for state. Gibbs also talks about the program's matchup zone, set plays on offense, and a typical practice. A football ref, he also responds to how that has helped him as a basketball coach.

Greg will share more about his background fighting for survivors of sexual abuse as well as his journey in building his legal practice that is focused on personal injury and the work he has done on cases involving children. We continue with the second part of our live episode! Some very astute, smart people have been writing very logical pieces on "things that will happen to X industry post-coronavirus". People will buy more of this and less of that and will start less of this more and will consume more Simblified content... Stuff like that.Well, we at Simblified always look to go beyond the obvious. But mostly we're lazy to do any proper analysis and just want a laugh. And, shockingly, over the course of 175+ episodes, it turns out that our listeners do too ("Simblified: When you want a break from logic and reality", as one NYT columnist might have put it).So we did a live episode, where we made some predictions!- Each of our four hosts gives a prediction. The more outlandish, the better. For eg: "People will eat more carrots more after coronavirus".- The other hosts tries to logically guess why that will be ("People will wear masks when they go out. They fog up glasses. People will try to get better eyesight. So... Carrots.").So it's part E&Y Whitepaper, part Butterfly Effect, part MAD Magazine six-degrees-of-separation, part drunk conversation (a combination, again, that you will get only on Malad's finest podcast!)We also get some audience predictions in. We love your feedback. We'd love it if you could leave a rating on Apple Podcasts - it really helps boost visibility and our egos.Simblified is:An Indian podcast that takes things that happen around us and deconstructs them in a manner you can understand and impress your colleagues, next interviewer, date or cat. Run by four folks seeking a return to the "good ol' days of Twitter" - Chuck, Naren, Srikeit & Tony, Simblified has the guarantee of "if we can understand it, you can!" and proceeds to look at everything from technology to politics to weird phenomena to questions you never knew you wanted to be answered. Along the way, you'll hear lots of bad jokes, facts, PG Wodehouse references, and more bad jokes. Hopefully, you'll have a laugh.
Today is Friday, so of course, I’m going to talk about some Fab Food Folks in just a minute. And share some awesome popcorn flavourings you can make at home and while enjoying a horror movie marathon. I mean it is Friday the 13th - Bwahahahaha! It’s not exactly breaking news that we should be trying to eat organic as much as possible to avoid the deadly pesticides sprayed on produce and fed to livestock. That’s why it’s really cool that so many farmer’s markets are coming up across the city and that too on the weekends. This means you can actually visit them, shop at leisure, interact with some really interesting people doing wonderful things in the space of organic, vegan and what I call FREE FOOD: sugar-free, oil-free, gluten-free, dairy-free and of course, guilt-free because cruelty-free and try out delicious snacks and drinks made from healthy and natural ingredients. These markets are held on the weekend at Malad, Powai, Juhu, Chembur, Bandra, Cuffe Parade, Birla Kreeda Kendra in Girgaon, and Versova. Some are on Saturday and most are on Sunday. They’re usually open in the morning and shut by lunch time. I’ll be sharing exact timings, location, address and contact info for each market on my Facebook page, just look for The Heart Chef, I’ll be sending across the link on whatsapp. Ok so let’s not forget it’s Friday the 13th, and what’s better to snack on during a horror movie marathon that homemade popcorn? But popcorn can get boring. And there’s only so much butter you can drizzle before it starts to taste like a heart attack waiting to happen. So here are some interesting popcorn flavourings you can whip up at home, either making a couple of different batches or keep trying all till you find your fave: So you can either go simply salty, or sweet, or spicy, or sour or you could make killer combos! A sweet and salty one like salted caramel, or a sweet and spicy one such as sweet chilli, or a sweet and not so spicy one like brown sugar, cinnamon and a dash of tabasco, and oh my god, a sweet and sour one with dried mango powder, you know, amchur and either brown sugar or jaggery powder, and for those who like walking that thin line between pleasure and pain, you can go hot and sour – with lemon juice-chilli powder, or vinegar and red chilli powder. You can play with so many permutations and combinations of these, and experiment with more ingredients, the possibilities are endless. No more crappy microwave popcorn! Freedom from carcinogenic gunk that tastes good but lines your arteries for a looooong time. You know what you need to do for the popcorn-flavouring recipes, just hop on over to THC’s Facebook pg or whatsapp me your email address and say POPCORN FLAVOURING RECIPES. That was it for today’s episode, catch you on Sunday where we will Take It Easy and celebrate all the different harvest & spring festivals of India. Plus, I’ll be launching a cuke-lear attack on boring ways to eat cucumber. Because there’s at least 5 different ways to enjoy this water-rich member of the gourd family, and I’m going to share them with you. You have a good start to the weekend and I’ll talk to you next on Sunday. This is me, Simona - The Heart Chef signing off with a big hug. From my heart to yours.

Hey there! We couldn't make it to the studio this week, so here's an old episode again! Given what L'Orange did in Finland, it's worth re-looking at how the Russians meddled in the US Elections. And given Putin gifted Trump a football that apparently has a chip inside, we might re-re-broadcast this in the future, who knows. For now, enjoy. Even if you haven't been following global politics in the last couple of years, you will know two things: 1. Trump is president (yes, sorry, that was not a bad dream) 2. Russia poked its nose in the elections This week, the intrepid hosts of your favourite Malad-based podcast risk their lives as they do investigative journalism, deep into the Wikipedia article called 'Russian interference in the 2016 US Elections' to bring you this lowdown as to what actually happened, and importantly, why. We end with some glorious puns which will make you wish it was Chuck who was hacked, instead of the Democrats. Check out this educational episode about how Trump won thanks to the Russians, and why the hosts think that Russia's efforts are actually the best example of 'content marketing' ever executed. What's Simblified again? A fortnightly Indian podcast which breaks down things around you - news, interesting careers and things you might not have thought about - in language that you can understand. Expect several poor jokes, PG Wodehouse references and Wikipedia-pilfering. Hosted by Chuck, Naren and Srikeit : Say hello to us on Twitter! @chuck_gopal, @shenoyn, @srikeit. At a time when international conflicts and international politics grab headlines, sometimes it might be prudent to look back through history. Today on No Limits, host John Krull is joined by IU McKinney Law student Puruda Kothari and Richard Shevitz of the Cohen and Malad law firm to discuss the upcoming symposium, "Holocaust and Remembrance: Social Justice in Today's World." Where do crimes against humanity begin and, more importantly, how can they be prevented?
