The weather has certainly been a big talking point for a lot of us this week. And it's also the theme of a new exhibition at the McManus Art Gallery and Museum in Dundee. Rachel went to take a look at A Weather Eye along with curator Kirsty Matheson. We hear from Paul Hetherington of charity Buglife about the impact the mild weather before Christmas, and now the very cold weather, is having on our bees. Sadly, it's not great news.A second pair of lynx has been captured after being found near Kingussie in the Cairngorms National Park. Two other lynx, released illegally, were caught in the same area on Thursday. We get the latest from BBC Scotland's Environment, Energy & Rural Affairs Correspondent Kevin Keane.Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre in Aberdeenshire is Britain's only purpose-built all-weather facility for cross-country skiing and roller skiing. And since there was a bit of snow on the ground, Mark went along to try his hand at cross-country skiing. We speak live to Donald MacRae, vice chair of Scottish Mountain Rescue about the conditions the teams across the country have been facing so far this year. We also hear advice on heading to the hills at this time of year and how prepared you need to be.Staying in the hills, the Glenmore Visitor Centre and Café near Loch Morlich has had a bit of a facelift in recent weeks. It's now owned by the community, who have big plans for the centre. Rachel went along for a visit to hear about what they've done so far, and what's yet to come. The wintry weather prompted Mark to think about the extreme winter weather of the recent past, including low temperatures in Braemar of -27.2 degrees Celsius.Photographer and Landward presenter Shahbaz Majeed has a new book out which explores Scotland's landscapes from a slightly different perspective. Recently, Rachel caught up with Shahbaz in his home city of Dundee for the Scotland Outdoors podcast. He told Rachel the story of how a rather unexpected request led to him making a name for himself behind the lens. And when Mark visited the Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre, he couldn't say no when he was offered the chance to go tubing. The simple pastime of sliding down a hill in an inflatable ring is pretty popular at the centre with kids and big kids too!

Are you caught circling around old habits, stuck in a rut, living your life in passive un-fulfillment,  up against a mountain of resistance and difficulty? It is time to speak to the mountain, as Jesus told us and move out, into the place of the promise. For the Hebrews, it was going to reclaim the land God had promised to Abraham. For us, it is the Abundant Life, Jesus died to give us. Getting up and moving out of the rut fear has dug all around us will require that we first identify the traps that hold us, the lies that we believed that led us to sin. Repentance for believing those lies and surrendering to the guidance of the Holy Spirit that lives inside of us is the first step to defeating the mountains in your life. Join us for words of encouragement and details that will fuel your victory to overcome the mountains in your life. Thanks so much to Sally Gilson for today's episode. Four months ago, ultra runner and Wild Ginger Running Patreon Sally badly broke her ankle while on a hike in the Lake District to celebrate her 50th birthday. The damage was so bad she had to be stretchered off the hill by Keswick Mountain Rescue. They had to put her foot agonisingly back in place on the hill quickly or she risked losing it altogether. After surgery, two pins and a metal plate, Sally's bone is gradually fusing back together but she is navigating a life without running for a good while. She was aiming for a 100 miler this summer but crewed for her buddy instead. We caught up with Sally to find out more about her accident, her subsequent recovery and how she's coping with being a runner who can't run for possibly a whole year. Having had a very outdoorsy upbringing in Carmarthenshire in South Wales, Carys Rees decided that she wanted to give something back to the outdoors community. She's certainly doing that - by being a volunteer for the Central Beacons Mountain Rescue Team, an ambassador for The Ramblers, and encouraging others to explore South Wales through her hiking-route website, This Girl Walks. It's a busy life for someone who lives in a city, Cardiff, and who works in London for part of the week. I spoke to Carys at the Big Retreat festival in Pembrokeshire in front of a live audience and I heard more about what the outdoors means to her, how she fits it into her life, and why she's so keen to spread awareness of the joy of hiking and nature. Don't miss Carys' tips for volunteering in the outdoors and places to hike in South Wales at the end of the episode, as well as a minute of the sounds of nature from my recent holiday to Scotland for a little bit of escapism in your busy day. Josephine in her own words:   “I'm a middle aged mother of three. Also, adventurer, rock climber, former Mountain Rescuer, wilderness addict, lover of Nature, doer. Oh, and professional author and award-winning photographer. Many hats, but a common thread of being outdoors, helping people and sharing a love of wild places. Having moved on from the confines of Mountain Rescue, I am on a journey with Mountain Training Association to get qualified so that I can introduce people, and especially women, to the indescribable benefits of outdoor adventure.  Too many women feel that it is beyond them. I want to show that it is not. I love polar adventure and have been to Norway many times and skied across Svalbard on a 9 day expedition.  Mountains, moors, wilderness, old mines and rock faces all vie for my time so that it feels there is never enough!  My mantra is: “Do it now. Life is too short.” I am not one for “ests” the longest/fastest/highest etc. To me, it is all about being there, in that moment. My work as an author and publisher includes the Dartmoor Tors Compendium, the Official Visitor Guide to Dartmoor National Park and the Geology of Dartmoor. I also design unique infographics and poster art about Dartmoor in particular. My photography, when not illustrating books, is photographing architectural properties and interiors. Mainly though, photography is about showing how beautiful and amazing our world is.” *** Don't miss out on the latest episodes of the Tough Girl Podcast, airing every Tuesday at 7am UK time. The mountain rescue team in Wasdale in the Lake District have recorded their busiest year so far with some of the harshest winter months still to come. The Langdale Ambleside team have also already reached their average annual incident rate - two months before the end of the year. Across the peaks of the UK, Mountain Rescue teams are coming under increasing pressure as visitor numbers soar. Helen Mark meets members of the Wasdale Mountain Rescue team and the Langdale Ambleside team in the Langdale Valley, to find out why they are getting called out so often. Both teams want people to come to the mountains and lakes that they love, but with the right knowledge and respect for a landscape which can be lethal. Certain spots in the lakes have been pictured and shared on social media drawing in more visitors, who may not be prepared for challenging terrain and bad weather. Ross Davidson is a photographer who has begun to question whether the incredible sunsets and sunrises he shares online might be part of the problem. The Mountain Rescue teams love their work and want everyone to enjoy their landscape, but as volunteers giving up their free time to help others, they're questioning whether they can sustain the rapidly increasing call-outs. That's why they, and the celebrated mountaineer Alan Hinkes, are asking hikers and climbers to be "adventure smart" by making sure they have the knowledge, the equipment and the right conditions to make the most of these dramatic landscapes. Every seller is going to fall into a slump on occasion. The leads dry up, the calls stop, and the panic sets in. This week, Hamish recounts a story about how he needed to be rescued from a mountain lake, and what we can apply from that experience to coaching our sellers. What You'll Learn:  How to spot a seller who's entering "Panic Mode." When to remind the seller of the difference between effective activities and comfortable activities. How to illuminate which activities are effective. Why you cannot "rescue" your sellers, and why they need to save themselves. How to identify the warning signs so a dip doesn't become a slump. Coaching your sales teams to get themselves out of a slump is critical to your role as a sales leader.
