Everyone is taking about Wynne Evans and Katya Jones' Mrs Doubtfire-inspired cha cha on last weekend's Strictly Come Dancing. The Welsh opera singer, known for his role as Gio Compario in the GoCompare adverts, donned the wig, glasses and stockings to play the character during Movie Week for the BBC dance competition. Although Wynne is reluctant to call it a competition, due to his fondness for his fellow celebrities and dance professionals. Instead, he likes it to call it an "entertainment programme", as you will hear in their chat with the Mirror's Janine Yaqoob. Here to add some cheer to the remainder of 2020 is the nation's favourite entertainment show - the glitz, the glamour, the fun and the drama! Week Three of the series was a very dramatic affair as the show presented its famous Movie Week, with star moments, superb performances and another elimination! Here to discuss it with Kevin are special guests, Strictly performer, Joanne Clifton and Burn The Floor star, Lauren Oakley! KEY TAKEAWAYS When a pro attempts to over-choreograph a routine, it can sometimes lead to a lack of success in the performance. A good choreographer will always take into account their partner's skill level, and favour this instead of displaying their choreography skills. Entertainment through dancing is never more apparent than when comedy is injected into the choreography. Making an audience laugh is a very powerful tool, can instantly create favourites, and get people to vote! Performances are enhanced exponentially by the careful selection of costumes and production design. For viewers, the recipe for a memorable dance can be supercharged by colour and glamour. Creative decisions are germinated by the production team, but the performers always have the final say. Negotiations when it comes to choreography, concept and costumes are a common occurrence, but lead to a greater sense of collaboration.
