Ian Watkins, the former frontman of the Welsh rock band Lostprophets, was once celebrated for his musical talent and success. However, his life and career took a disturbing turn with criminal charges that shocked fans and the world. In this episode of Lesser Known People, we delve into the complex story of Ian Watkins, mixing our usual humor with the seriousness this subject demands. Ian Watkins was born in 1977 in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales. He co-founded Lostprophets in 1997, and the band quickly gained a dedicated following. Their debut album, Thefakesoundofprogress, showcased Watkins' vocal prowess and lyrical talent, propelling the band into the limelight. As the band's success grew, Watkins' personal life began to unravel. He struggled with substance abuse, and his behavior became increasingly erratic. Despite the challenges, Lostprophets continued to release successful albums and tour internationally. In December 2012, the music world was shaken by the arrest of Ian Watkins on multiple charges, including child sex offenses. The news sent shockwaves through the band's fanbase and the broader music community, leading to the immediate disbandment of Lostprophets. The story of Ian Watkins serves as a grim reminder of the darker side of fame and the importance of justice for victims. We hope our episode sheds light on this complex issue while providing insight into how such events can deeply affect both fans and the industry.

I bring to you the story of the former lead singer of the Lostprophets, Ian Watkins. He went from a good, straight-edged kid to one of the more disturbing child predators. It's been a while. I haven't gone anywhere, other than a little nutty. But that season is upon us and I'm back. With a quick update and a dedication. To Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) and our new friend Sal the Singer. Props to the band Lostprophets. Follow the Buzzards...
SISÄLTÖVAROITUS! Graafinen sisältö ei sovi herkille. Britanniassa paljastui vuonna 2012 useita järkyttäviä hyväksikäyttötapauksia, kun Lostprophetsin karismaattisen laulajan synkkä kaksoiselämä päätyi viimein viranomaisten tietoon.
In today's episode of 'Bang to rights ', we delve into the dark and deeply disturbing world of Ian Watkins, lead singer of the once-celebrated band, Lostprophets. From acclaimed music hits to harrowing criminal revelations, Watkins' descent from stardom presents a shocking dichotomy. Ian Watkins was not just a frontman; he was a man harboring sinister secrets. The music world was left stunned when Watkins was arrested for a series of heinous crimes against children, unveiling a side to him that no one could have predicted. Join us as we dissect the events leading up to his arrest, the overwhelming evidence presented in court, and the subsequent trial that laid bare his unspeakable actions. Beyond the headlines, we'll examine the psychology behind Watkins' behaviour, the failures that allowed his actions to go unchecked, and the impact on his band members and fans.
Ian Watkins seemed to have it all. He was a successful singer/songwriter and the lead vocalist and lyricist for the Lostprophets - a famous band in the UK. During his career, Ian developed a drug problem which resulted in several arrests. Then, in December 2012, the world saw the secrets Ian had kept behind closed doors for years. He was a pedophile with a fetish for animal pornography. Over the course of his court proceedings, the world learned just how depraved he was. But, did Iam have help carrying out his horrendous crimes? Listen in as we answer that question. This episode delves deep into the music industry's dark side, focusing on Ian Watkins, the former front-man of the once-celebrated band Lostprophets. As his music touched the hearts of millions, Ian committed heinous crimes that shocked the world. Join us as we unravel the contrast between fame and infamy, talent and depravity, exploring how a figure who once stood atop the world of music could fall so devastatingly low. I want to add that listener discretion is advised; Ian's crimes are some of the worst you will ever encounter.

He was born and raised in Merthyr Tydfil which is a small borough that lies to the north of Cardiff in Wales. Ian was a content and happy child who loved the outdoors and his family. He was intelligent and sociable and made friends easily. As Ian reached his middle school years he developed a passion for music. No matter the instrument Ian would figure out how to play it. His bright and inquisitive mind meant he enjoyed the thrill of learning something new and it didn't take long for his family to realise he had a real talent for entertainment through his musical passions. When Ian started attending Hawthorn High School and became more independent with his music tastes he was drawn to rock and metal music and began to listen to artists like Faith No More, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Megadeth. It was during this time that Ian met Mike Lewis who would become a lifelong friend. The two had a mutual passion for both listening to and playing metal music. In 1991 the pair decided to form their own rock band which they called Aftermath. The genre of music they played together was known as thrash metal and the pair would spend every spare moment in Ian's back garden writing or playing their own music. Whilst his parents didn't understand the genre they encouraged his musical talents and supported his passions. In 2009 he decided to branch out on his own in a side venture. He started a project he called "L'Amour La Morgue". "L'Amour La Morgue" was much more about music production than musical performance. The 17 tracks he released under this moniker were comprised of remixes of popular songs from a broad range of genres such as Beyonce, the Killers, Tears for Fears, Bring me the Horizon and Young Guns. In 2010 the Lostprophets released yet another album, this time titled The Betrayed. Given their huge success, they were now attracting requests for collaborations from some of music's biggest names. Yet again the album was hugely successful and the band set off on another worldwide tour. Just two years later, in 2012 they released their fifth album called Weapons. It was whilst they were touring to promote The Betrayed album that the image Ian had been presenting to the world began to fracture...NSPCCIf you're worried about a child, even if you're unsure, contact our professional counsellors for help, advice and supportCall – 0808 800 5000 Email help@nspcc.org.ukSAMARITANSIf you need someone to talk to, Samaritans won't judge you or tell you what to do – They listen! Do you think a rock band can be cursed? Sounds unfeasible to the rational mind, but how else do you explain No Devotion, the group containing ex-members of Lostprophets and sometime Thursday singer Geoff Rickly?Their band was literally born from unspeakable horror, their singer has navigated drug addiction and an extraordinary union with the notorious pharma bro Martin Shkreli – and I'd like to direct you to episode 11 of Shame – also on this feed a few episodes back - if you're interested in more to do with that madness. And there's been muggings and broken legs and… I mean, begone evil spirits! The power of Christ compels you! Few bands deserve more of a break than No Devotion, and, returning after a break of seven years with excellent second album No Oblivion, I thought it was time to call up Geoff for a chat about all of the above. It's a good episode this. Bit longer than usual. But I think it's all killer, no filler. Join the Spoook Substack!
The End Of Longing. Two of the most influential figures in our music careers, Geoff Rickly and Stuart Richardson, are our special guests for Episode 200 of Sappenin' Podcast. The No Devotion duo return together, to celebrate the release of their second album 'No Oblivion', reveal exclusive secrets on the bands hiatus and everything that makes this project their safe space. In this conversation, Stu and Geoff open up on the bands quiet period, why these songs are so personal to them, processing the aftermath of Lostprophets, needing time to heal vs taking risks, continuing without Mike Lewis and Jamie Oliver, how Permanence was almost a one and done, the story of how they originally met, playing together now with Thursday, spending the summer on tour with My Chemical Romance, MCR's legacy for newer artists, winning a Kerrang! Award, Lee Gaze riffs, the beauty of Welsh banter, appreciating the little moments in life, live show visions, how they changed music for us, what's next and more! Ian Watkins was adored by millions of fans worldwide. As the lead singer of Welsh rock band Lostprophets he had the world at his feet. He didn't take drugs or drink alcohol but behind closed doors Watkins engaged in some of the most horrific acts we've ever covered on this podcast. The levels of depravity he stooped to are hard to comprehend. This was an eye opener. http://podbelly.com http://retrovague.com http://robotsforeyespodcast.com
In this episode, Stephen talks to George Davison, a Tour Manager with over 25 years experience in the industry. George shares his early beginnings working with Nottingham metal legends Earthtone 9, before going on to work with a host of Welsh bands including Funeral For A Friend, Bullet For My Valentine, and most notably Lostprophets, overseeing their meteoric rise from a small town in Wales to global stardom. It's no secret how the Lostprophets train imploded in a way nobody in or around the band including George would ever envisage but George's career continued going from strength to strength with him looking after Swedish rock band Ghost in arena's throughout the world, as well as successful stints with Mastodon and Of Mice & Men.Please Subscribe & Follow the 'We Are The Road Crew Podcast' over on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram @roadcrewpod and leave us a little review wherever you listen to the podcast!

This week, Tyler and Bailey sit down with Ilan Rubin. If you know who Ilan is, but don't really know who he is, then do yourself a favor and get to know him a bit better. For starters, he's the drummer for Angels & Airwaves, but that barely scratches the surface. Rubin is only 33 years old and has already managed to be the youngest person inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for his position as drummer in the iconic Nine Inch Nails, the youngest drummer to perform at Woodstock, has drummed for Paramore and Lostprophets, he has many albums under his belt and he's only getting started and not satisfied yet.We of course talk about the new Angels & Airwaves album Lifeforms, but we really dive into how and when his love of music all started and how it's gotten him to where he is today.Episode Artwork Photo Credit: Jonathan WeinerSupport the show (https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=KR8HCDXCGWB88)
Rob has done more in touring merchandising than many people - he's done tours with the infamous (Marilyn Manson, Lost Prophets) and the lovely (U2, Pink Floyd) and many, many others.
