How many ways are there to be saved? Have you ever given that any consideration? The fact is that this is one of the most important, basic fundamental concepts to understanding the New Testament; to understanding the Bible, really, as a whole; to understanding the plan of God. And the failure to understand what I'm going to be talking about today has led to untold amount of confusion in some people's minds about what God is doing, and their relationship with God has been distorted by not understanding how many ways there are to be saved. Is there, for example, a way for Christians and another for Buddhists? There are a lot of people in this world who believe that most of us in the world are all going to heaven by different routes. Is there one way for Catholics and another way for Baptists? Is there one way for children and another way for adults? Because there are many people who believe that children who die before they reach the age of accountability take a short circuit to paradise—they go directly to be with God; whereas once you have become an adult, if you have sinned, then you must go through a different way of salvation: you must be baptized and repent. Is there one way for Jews and another way for Gentiles? Was there one way of salvation in the Old Testament and another way of salvation in the New? What is the difference between the way of salvation in Old Testament times and the way of salvation in the New? Do you know? Is there an inferior way of salvation and a better way of salvation? What about man's geographic location? Does it does it make sense to you that God would have one way of salvation for people living west of the Jordan River and another way of salvation for people living east of the Jordan River? Or our temporal location: Would God have one way of salvation for people who lived before Jesus' last Passover and those who lived after—a totally different route to God at that time? What about physical characteristics? Would he have one way of salvation for men who had a foreskin and another way of salvation for those who had the foreskin removed? Now, logically you would want to say, It doesn't make sense to me. I really don't think that God would work that way, but what does the Bible say? I want you to turn back with me to the 12th chapter of Exodus, and let's start by taking a little look at what God's word has to say about the subject.

Wingnut Social: The Interior Design Business and Marketing Podcast
There is a severe and noted underrepresentation of Black artists and designers in the design industry. Issues of cultural misappropriation are coupled with a lack of historical and cultural awareness—and it needs to change. Malene Barnett sought to bring about change when she founded the Black Artists + Designers Guild (BADG) in 2018, with a mission to “Build a more equitable and inclusive creative culture by advancing a community of independent Black artists, makers, and designers in creative industries.” Malene Barnett is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY. She founded the Black Artist + Designer’s Guild to combat a lack of representation of Black talent and culture in the design industry. It is a global platform seeking to represent a curated collection of independent Black artists, makers, and designers at the top of their game. What You’ll Hear On This Episode of Wingnut Social [1:25] Natalie’s TikTok themed dreams [3:30] Malene Barnett’s background in art + design [5:50] Bringing issues of inequality to the forefront [9:05] Had Malene seen improvement with the movement? [10:55] The biggest challenge was getting support and people behind it [12:27] What is the selection process like for designers who want to join? [15:14] What does demolishing and rebuilding look like in education? [16:34] Credit must be given to the originators [18:20] Steps to take to support change (+ design reform) [21:40] Cultural misappropriation in the design world [24:06] What the mission and vision of the Black Artists + Design Guild [26:53] What up Wingnut! Round [29:02] How to connect with Malene Barnett [32:26] Blooper Reel! Connect with Malene Barnett Black Artists + Designers Guild BADG on Instagram Malene’s Design Website Malene on Instagram Connect on LinkedIn Follow on Twitter Resources & People Mentioned BOOK: I’m Not Done Yet by Dr. Cynthia Barnett BOOK: White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo BOOK: Me and White Supremacy by Layla Saad What’s New What’s Next Fabricut Made Goods Vaughan Lighting De Le Cuona Elle Decor House Beautiful Luxe Magazine Business of Home Architectural Digest The biggest challenges the movement faces When Malene founded BADG the support she garnished was very minimal. People would say, “Oh, that’s a nice gesture” but weren’t truly supporting her vision. ButMalene didn’t ask anybody for anything. She points out that most Black-owned businesses don’t have access to loans or family members who can invest in them. They’ve always relied on their community to support them. That’s why there needs to be more support from the design industry. With the recent movement brought to the forefront, Malene is seeing large companies reach out to develop long-term partnerships. It’s a step in the right direction. But there still needs to be significant improvement. Malene emphasizes that systems need to be demolished. This awareness of social justice and equality isn’t new. The uproars have happened over time. Malene notes that it’s a constant battle: “We’ve always been fighting for the right to just be and be human.” There’s a lot of work that has to be done. Malene shares how the design industry is one of the least transparent industries—keep listening to hear why. Design education needs to be demolished and rebuilt Malene firmly believes that the whole design education system needs to be rebuilt. She points out that if you go to school for design, you’re usually being taught from the European perspective. Students are being fed the lie that modern design is European—but it isn’t. Modern design is of African descent. Malene uses Picasso as an example. He is credited with being one of the most influential artists of the 20th century—but much of his work isn’t truly his. He spent time in West Africa studying Yoruba sculptures. He was given the credit for the movement, but the basis of his art was Yoruba art. “We need to rewrite this narrative and give the credit to the originators of creativity and design and start leading with the indigenous voices—with the Black voices—and then talk about how these principles have been influenced in a particular person's practice versus the other way around.” Designers must educate themselves on Black culture and design. Malene points out that designers are using Kuba cloth from the Congo and Mud Cloth from Mali in their design as decorative items. This is cultural misappropriation. If Malene were to use it in her design, she’d be labeled as being “too ethnic”. “Ethnic” in and of itself is the wrong word to use. Malene points out that it has been used as a label for anything that’s non-white—and she refuses to accept that. Malene emphasizes that “This industry has been using black culture so much when it comes to design but yet not giving the credit to the people, to the community, to the culture—and all of that has to change.” Combating racism and underrepresentation begins with personal change Malene asks, “How uncomfortable do you want to get? How much are you willing to give up?” She notes that supporting the movement is about going deeper and starting with working on yourself. It will require asking difficult questions and a willingness to be uncomfortable. Decolonize yourself, read books and articles, attend events—learn about your industry. Take a good hard look at difficult topics such as redlining, the division of neighborhoods, and the homeownership disparity. Then you branch out and educate your friends and your family. What steps can you take to support BADG and Black Lives Matter? How can the design industry push for the necessary change and reform? Where can you learn more? Contractor Success Map with Randal DeHart | Contractor Bookkeeping And Accounting Services
This Podcast Is Episode Number 0198 And It Will Be About Contractors Ready Start Go Happy New Year New Year’s Day is the day to make New Year’s Resolutions and a start fresh. It is a reset button for every Contractor business on January 1st of every year. The previous tax year ends on December 31st. Final expenses for December will be coming in by email or US Mail. What is New? What is The Plan? What is Next Target? Did you meet Last Years Goals? What is Different From Last Year? Is there anything you Plan On Changing? Did You Take The Polar Challenge? “Polar Challenge” has a whole new meaning when someone says “Go Jump In The Lake”. Many look at the Polar Challenge as a way to cleanse the body and have a fresh start to the New Year. Others yet just want to do something fun and wacky with their friends. New Year’s Resolutions I have ever seen have been was all about doing More of This and Less of That To Have More Things or To Reduce The Stuff You Already Have A To Do List and A I’m Going To Stop Doing That Plan to lose weight – Eat Less, Exercise More Go On Vacation or Have A Stay Vacation Make More Money – Cut Expenses Buy Something or Sell Something Dream of Winning The Lottery Plan Something Special Enjoy Your Day Enjoy Life New Year’s Resolutions - Did You Make A List? Keep It Simple. When making your New Year’s resolutions write them down. Even in the most general terms with a few details. Start with a few notes, outline or a brief memo. Resolutions should not be so detailed and complex that it becomes a chore you before you even get started. If you make it a Chore then it will never get done. A project with too much detail becomes tedious, makes you frustrated, irritated and never gets done. Maybe the New Year’s Resolution is the following: Be, Do, Have. Be Kind Do The Work Have Peace of Mind Choose your own goals on what and how much details your New Year’s Resolutions should be. If you want to write a full-blown Business Plan For Your Contracting Comany; put it on the list. For a very detailed oriented person; writing a business plan will easily become a complex report with graphs and charts. For others, it is a big step to create New Year’s Resolution of more than three things. New Year’s Resolutions do not have to be big, long, or complex. Your mind will think about your goals, fill in the blanks, guide you on the next thing to do. Answer the call Being available to [fill in the blank] Committing the time needed Doing the job or task Effortless seeing the next step Finding the solution to long and short term problems Going Forward and choosing the best option and not second guess it. Happy to be alive I chat with Contractors every day. They tell me their stories. About their challenges in running a business, keeping up with the bookwork (accounting and bookkeeping). About estimating and bidding jobs, doing the work and collections from clients. Having or not having employees. Paying their taxes. To help you – I have written your New Years Resolution for you. Sharie’s New Year’s Resolution For Contractors I want Gross Sales of [fill in the blank] for the year I want a newer Truck and Equipment for my business I want to have nicer customers and to be nicer to those who are not nice to me I want to have this much money [Fill In The Blank] to spend on a Family Vacation I want my spouse to work at an Outside Job only if she wants to [not because she has to] I want my family to be healthy and happy throughout the year I want Peace of Mind and to have Less Stress In My Life I want The Gift of More Time Time To Do The Things In My Life That I Want To Do Time To Be With The People To Whom I Want To Do Those Things Time To Do Nothing At All but Think and Enjoy the Peace and Quiet That Surrounds Me Resolutions Are Personal - Do you post them somewhere or put them away? For most of us, starting small and being successful is more positive than “Huge Ironclad Goals” that become a Daily Chore that deep down you know is unreachable. Make Doing and Thinking about your Resolutions a moment of happiness. Your Life constantly changes. Sometimes it is a Walk, Sprint, A Quick Jog and for some, every day is A Marathon. Life Happens. If you can separate out the Goals from The Wish List (Win The Lottery) then it is much easier to be happy. Yes, Buy a Lottery Ticket – You might win. The object is that you do not become obsessed with Winning The Lottery that you Must Buy a Lottery Ticket to every game every week. Keep It Simple. Think Sports; Bask in Success of Win. Think about the Loss; then move on to Next. There is never a shortage of Next. Then Continue and Repeat. Shampoo sales increased when Marketing added “Repeat” to the bottle. Don’t spend a ton of time on What Did Not Happen and getting depressed. Your time is the most valuable commodity that you have. Think, Make a Decision, Move On. Sometimes what didn’t happen is a good thing. Several “Oldies But Goodies” Country Songs come to mind. (About Yes, No, Staying or Moving On – key word is movement) What can you Repeat to make 2017 a better year for you in Your Business Life and Your Personal Life? Remember Bigger is not necessarily Better. Enjoy your day – Everyday.
