Liana Zavo a life coach and business mentor gives her two cents on entrepreneurship in the real world and the 5 barriers that stop entrepreneurs from starting their business. 5 barriers that stop entrepreneurs from starting a business I heard this at a training but ill add my own twist to it Who am I to share this? Because they say who am I to share this. This is like grade A imposter syndrome like who am I? My response to that is who are you not to share the thing that you know? Who are you not to talk about what you are passionate about? Why Not You? Number two that is stopping people is what if I get found out? So often times we love comfort zones so people will say the more I talk about something and the more I position myself as an authority or a professional people are bound to say, he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, she doesn’t know what she’s talking about and we live in this fear of getting discovered that we’re not who we aspire to be. The only person who will stop you from doing the thing that you wanna do, the only person who has the power is you. So we can look out and say oh I’m gonna get discovered, what are they going to discover that you don’t know about yourself? Call yourself out for your own weaknesses, call yourself out for the stuff that you don’t know. I’ll be the first to say these ideas ain’t mine, but I am going to share them with you which actually leads me to point number 3 People don’t start their business or become an entrepreneur because they say it’s all been done before. I know that there was a time in my business like that when I said how can I talk about personal branding? How can I talk about public relations and building a brand or marketing a business? And you wanna know what? And you wanna know what there are three M’s that empower you to stick out, so even if, M number one, the message is the same right? So even though I am saying the same thing that somebody else had taught us in class yesterday, the message is the same but the messenger is different. You might wanna hear something from somebody else, we could be saying the same thing as somebody else but you as a messenger are different than your message. Here’s a third M, is the medium. How are you sharing this content? like I’m creating a video right now, but I could be doing a podcast, a blog post, I could be doing an Instagram post. So here’s the thing, even if you are here and you’re talking about something that has been spoken about since the dawn of the ages, let me tell you something ladies, the message could be the same but the messenger could be entirely different and the medium in which we are sharing it!! Boom That’s right—- This is reason number 4 why somebody won’t start a business, what will people think of me? And you wanna know what I say to that? Somebody’s else’s opinions of me don’t pay my bills. People’s likes on my photos they don’t pay my bill’s, happy clients do. I do not care what people think of me, my decisions or my business. The only people I am beholden to or I care is, who can I serve so extraordinary that they love what I provide for them, and they continue on coming back. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/liana-zavo/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/liana-zavo/support

Insight of the $2 Trillion Stimulus Package for Businesses. Liana Zavo interviewed a National Tax Expert and the CEO of Engineered Tax Services Julio Gonzalez to give us a better understanding of how small businesses can benefit from this bill. What is the Care Act for Small Businesses? While there are a lot of detailed provisions in the bill that take into account taxes and unemployment among other topics, small business coronavirus relief certainly takes center stage of the stimulus package, with the point of the bill squarely being to keep people employed. Being this is the largest stimulus in the history of the United States, $353 billion of the $2 trillion is focused on small businesses alone. Given the nature of how quickly things are changing in the world today with the coronavirus pandemic, speed is the name of the game — and one in which lawmakers are trying to fuel to prevent a 30% unemployment rate. “We have a lot of small businesses that are struggling,” Gonzalez says so how can (the government) get this into small business’ hands? “They have taken the SBA 7(a) loan program as a shell and they have expanded it and that’s how they will get this into cash quickly.” One thing to note is this loan from the coronavirus stimulus bill is not the same as the Disaster Loan being touted lately. This is separate as these loans will come from a private lender. Who is Eligible for the Coronavirus Stimulus Package? In order to remove as much red tape as possible and speed up the funding process, the stimulus bill has outlined the following requirements you must meet: In business before Feb. 15, 2020. Employ less than 500 employees. Have been impacted by the coronavirus. While the amount of proof and paperwork required will be crystalized in the days ahead, West and Hartsock agree there is a presumption that if you are applying, you have been impacted. Even so, you will have to sign an affidavit acknowledging you need these funds as a result of the coronavirus. Some ways you could have been impacted are though lost sales, supply chain issues, product chain issues and lost opportunities. There is gray area there, and experts agree this is for speed to get the funds released and available to those who need it. How Do I Receive Funds from the Coronavirus Stimulus Bill? While the process still remains to be ironed out further, in a nutshell, most business owners should plan on heading to their home bank (as long as it’s FDIC Insured) and being prepared to fill out minimal paperwork. There are a lot of lenders that are SBA preferred lenders, but they are releasing regulations to where every bank that is FDIC Insured is able to release these loans. Then starts an 8-week clock for small business owners to use the funds on qualifying expenses to keep their business afloat and become eligible for loan forgiveness. How Do I Calculate My Loan Amount? Small business owners are eligible to receive 2.5x payroll to use for things such as payroll, rent, utilities and health care benefits. The loans from the coronavirus stimulus bill are based on a 12-month trailing payroll average, but what does this mean? Essentially, you will want to take your payroll average from Feb. 15, 2019 to Feb. 15, 2020, up to $100,000 employee salary, excluding employer tax. This also includes commissions and bonuses. Shay Rowbottom is a LinkedIn influencer and digital marketing entrepreneur, specializing in creating social media video content to attract attention and bring more eyeballs to your business. “I believe there’s still few people in the world who truly understand social media video marketing and the logic behind it.” -Shay Rowbottom. Through her unique background working in video licensing, Shay cultivated a specific, but rare, expertise on how and why something is destined to go viral. Her first agency specialized in curating, licensing, editing, and distributing custom video clips, tailored to her client’s audience, and her clients were among the highest performing blogs on Facebook. Throughout the three years Shay worked on Facebook, she had amassed billions of impressions, aka data, on video content. She forged relationships with over 5,000 content owners across the globe, distributed tens of thousands of video clips throughout the platform, and at her peak she was averaging over 1 Billion views per month on Facebook for her clients. This led to doing marketing for product companies as well, and utilizing the blog owner’s followings to post more direct ads on consumer products. Her team would then take the data accumulated from organic video content, and run retargeting campaigns through Facebook ads manager, reaching the right buyers and increasing sales for the product companies. In May of 2018, Shay decided to take everything she’d learned and apply it to her own personal brand, on LinkedIn, in an attempt to get more leads for her Facebook agency at the time. What she found was not only leads, but an insanely low competition rate on LinkedIn when it came to creating video content. She quickly realized the opportunity on LinkedIn for organic growth was incomparable to other platforms, and within 6 months of creating videos consistently for her page, had grown to over 25,000+ followers and generated over 2 Million video views on LinkedIn. It was around that time she decided to call it quits at her first agency. She sold her shares and pivoted completely, to found a new video marketing agency, specializing in helping business owners attract their target market and close more deals through the use of organic video content, specifically on the LinkedIn platform. After receiving her bachelor of arts degree from Yale University and medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, Dr. O specialized in Sports Rehabilitation and Regenerative Medicine. With a keen eye for beauty and aesthetics and her knowledge of regenerative therapies, Dr. O has been able to achieve a unique approach to beauty in which her goal is to turn back the clock of aging as naturally as possible. She does this by rejuvenating and re-sculpting the face, resurfacing the skin using the same techniques used in regenerative pain management therapy to help her patients look and feel like their younger selves. What if we could “trick” the body into revving up its ability to create new tissue, and create volume in the face, fill in deep wrinkles, and resurface the skin without synthetic fillers. Dr. O, as she is fondly known, does this by combining regenerative medicine techniques and principles used in stem cell tissue healing and growth proteins, to achieve safe, effective and minimally invasive procedures to give you the same results, lasts longer and it's natural! Most women and men from the ages of 25 and older are wanting to maximize their look and minimize the aging affects. Dr. O is turning back the clock of aging for her patients as naturally as possible creating a younger refreshed version of themselves. It is not the easiest of jobs to be an entrepreneur and have a boss mentality. Working for yourself won't start paying off until much later, and in the meantime it is all hard-work and staying on that grind. As an entrepreneur you always need to bring your A- game. The old-world view that you can just jump into starting your own business and figure it out as you go along isn't working as many women had hoped. This type of purpose-driven work is much more gratifying than working forty hours a week for someone else and their dreams, THAT'S FOR SURE! However, as we navigate the unfamiliar territory of launching and growing a business, we (millennial female entrepreneurs) need examples of women that speak to us and our unique challenges. Women who are taking risks, learning as they go, raising funds, working from home, finding advisors, working with mentors, integrating family and friends while pursuing a business and life that ignites a deep-seeded passion that cannot be ignored! And these are the women that make up What Makes A Woman show! With a plethora of women launching businesses, we cannot only have a few women to draw from as examples! As for me, looking back at 2019, I learned that I LOVE learning and conversing with women that have turned their passion into their careers! I LOVE being an advocate of women entrepreneurs and the voice of Millennial females because I truly believe that we are the RISING STARS that will turn the current state of the world around. As you finish the year strong, listen to the BEST OF 2019 from What Makes A Woman and take some time to look back on some of the most powerful statements made by female rockstars who are breaking their glass ceilings - Just like YOU and I! In Nikki Nardizzi’s first release, BADASS grATTITUDE: A memoir of finding forgiveness and strength, Nikki reveals the emotional and physical toll her circumstances took on her and how she took control over their hold on her. She has come a long way since winning “½ 1st Place” at her temple’s talent show when she was just eight years old. Which she half won for seemingly endless hula-hooping. She believes, now, that she won for finally ending the spectacle. But then, by the time she turned 41, Nikki had been diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes, become legally blind, contracted meningitis, lost both her parents, and had a kidney and pancreas transplant. At 43, her husband ‘suggested’ they live separately. He said she was miserable. He said he was miserable and that he couldn’t keep living like that. He said she should find her happiness. He was right. So, she set out to find it, along with her self-confidence and worth that was lost so long ago. It was time to think outside the box … the box she created for herself. She had to change her perception of her life, her abilities, and what she focused her attention on. She found gratitude for the things she had, rather than succumbing to what she didn’t. That, and other changes she incorporated into her life impacted her in every way. BADASS grATTITUDE …, has a 5 of 5-star rating on Amazon, a 4.4 of 5 stars at Good Reads, and 3 of 4 stars at Online Book Club.org., Nikki currently lives in New York City with her husband and senior rescue dog, Winston, working on her next book. She stands as CEO of That’s Bananas, LLC, which oversees publishing and production companies under the same name. She enjoys supporting charities close to her heart, shopping, and surrounding herself with loving and supportive people. Her experiences have achieved her the unofficial title of advisor to friends and family, helping them navigate their own challenges. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/liana-zavo/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/liana-zavo/support
