This episode originally dropped when the podcast was just getting started… and even years later, the message still hits hard.Today we're revisiting “Why ‘Eat Less, Move More' Is Terrible Advice.”Because while that phrase sounds simple — and even logical on the surface — it's one of the most misleading pieces of advice ever given to people trying to lose fat, improve their health, and actually stick to change. In this episode, I break down why fat loss isn't just a math problem… why hunger always wins when hormones are ignored… and why understanding insulin, metabolism, and behavior matters far more than just white-knuckling willpower. If you're new to the show, what we talk about today may really surprise you —so I ask you to come in open-minded… and open to trying different approaches if the thing you're doing right now isn't working. And if you've been with me since the early days — you'll want to listen to this one again. You'll probably hear it with new ears, deeper understanding, and more context than you had the first time around.Because the truth is… We've been told to try harder — when we really needed better systems and better information.Let's take it back.Resources: Brain.fm App(First month Free, then 20% off subscription)Discount Code: coachdamiensdLinks:IG:@coachdamien_sd@damienrayevans@livinthedream_podcast YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS6VuPgtVsdBpDj5oN3YQTgFB:https://www.facebook.com/coachdamienSD/
Adam creates a hypnosis session to help a client lose weight by using Japanese concepts related to eating only to 80% full - Hara Hachi Bu or Hara Hachi Bun Me. It's a 300-year-old Japanese, Confucian-inspired philosophy meaning "belly 80 percent full". It is a mindfulness practice used to prevent overeating and promote longevity, particularly in Okinawa, by encouraging people to stop eating when they feel satisfied rather than stuffed. This habit helps manage weight, aids digestion, and allows 15–20 minutes for the brain to register fullness. To access a subscriber-only version with no intro, outro, explanation, or ad breaks and 24 hours earlier than everyone else, tap 'Subscribe' nearby or click the following link.https://creators.spotify.com/pod/profile/adam-cox858/subscribe

In this episode of “Mindful Mystics,” Karen, Cheryl, and Chuckie G discuss how to approach 2026 with intention instead of pressure. The conversation unpacks why New Year's resolutions so often fail, how small, repeatable actions create lasting change, and what it really means to detox spiritually — from clearing physical and emotional clutter to releasing habits, beliefs, and self-talk that no longer serve. Along the way, we share personal experiences with goal reframing, motivation, identity shifts, and end-of-year cleansing rituals designed to support sustainable growth in the year ahead. Brought to you by Paranormal Underground Radio Episode Date: 12.20.2025 Hosts: Karen Frazier, Chuckie G, and Cheryl Knight-Wilson Check out our hosts online at: Paranormal Underground magazine: https://paranormalunderground.net/ Author and psychic medium Karen Frazier: https://www.authorkarenfrazier.com/#/ Paranormal Investigator and psychic medium Chuckie G: https://itsmechuckieg.com/ Resources: Listen to our podcast about “The Secrets to Motivation: From Stuck to Inspired”: https://paranormalunderground.podbean.com/e/mindful-mystics-podcast-path-to-motivation-from-stuck-to-inspired/ Show Highlights: [00:30] “Goal Setting and Spiritual Detoxing for 2026” A year-end conversation about setting realistic goals, staying motivated, and clearing out what drains your energy — mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and even physically. [01:51] Why One or Two Goals Beat “A Bazillion” Narrowing focus protects your energy and improves results — because dividing attention across too many goals usually means sacrificing quality and follow-through. [04:40] Why New Year's Resolutions Fail Resolutions often come from guilt or comparison, aim for total transformation, ignore underlying habits, and treat the new year as a “reset” instead of a continuation. [05:58] Big Goals vs. Mini Goals Chuck breaks down why huge goals can trigger discouragement, while small “moment-by-moment” steps build momentum — and let your plan evolve as you evolve. [08:33] Karen's “Eat Less, Move More” Blueprint Karen shares how she started with tiny, doable changes and gradually leveled up — using hiking (pleasure) and health reality (fear) as twin motivators. [19:49] Identity Shift: “I Am Somebody Who…” The real win is when a goal becomes part of who you are — not just something you're trying to do. That's when habits stick. [21:33] All-or-Nothing Thinking and Self-Talk A deep, relatable moment on spiraling after a “bad day,” learning to stop harsh self-judgment, and reframing progress as “five minutes more than yesterday.” [22:53] Cheryl's Goal Reframe: Designing Success Without Pressure Cheryl walks through how she's rewriting goals for 2026 — shifting from rigid outcomes (“lose 20 pounds,” “organize the house by February”) to gentle, repeatable actions such as moving her body regularly, tidying for 10 minutes a day, and stepping outside daily. [30:55] Habit Tracking That Actually Motivates Karen recommends “Streaks” for gamifying habits — and the group talks about pleasing your fitness tracker (and why it works for some personalities). [38:47] What “Spiritual Detoxing” Means Spiritual detox is clearing mental and emotional clutter, releasing draining habits/beliefs/relationships, letting go of resentment and guilt, and choosing progress over perfection. [39:25] Physical Decluttering as Spiritual Decluttering Karen connects cleaning, unsubscribing from inbox chaos, and decluttering to emotional and spiritual clarity — a practical, grounded approach to “detox.” [41:11] Chuck's End-of-Year Cleansing Rituals Breathwork, meditation visuals, Reiki, smudging the home, and intention-setting with candles — building a transition ritual into the new year. [43:39] Seasonal Affective Disorder and the Luminette 3 Karen shares how a light-therapy wearable helped her feel like her “summer self,” plus habits that support circadian rhythm (happy lamp, walking in natural light, melatonin). [48:04] Closing: “Have a Great Start to 2026” A warm send-off with encouragement, plus a reminder to revisit the motivation episode for tools that make follow-through more sustainable.

If you're a tall girly listening to this right now, tell me if you've ever had this realization. You've been following this one specific fitness creator for years. She's your go-to and you want to look and feel like her. You copy her workouts, try out some of her recipes, take the supplements she recommends, all of it. However, your body still looks nothing like hers…In fact, you're not seeing any type of results. One day, you're scrolling through this fitness creator's page and stumbled across a video you haven't seen before where she lists off her measurements and find out she's 5'4” and maybe weighs 120 pounds. Now it doesn't click at first, but you may be standing at 5'9” and weigh 180 pounds or standing at 6'3” and weigh 220 pounds. Yet, all you can think about is why your body doesn't look like hers. You're not alone in this. So many of us tend to take advice from those who have different body types because that's what our feeds are filled with. So today, we're diving into tall girl fitness and health, where I'm calling out myths, lies, and unrealistic expectations and talking about why so many tall girlies feel lost when it comes to their health and fitness. I've been getting a lot of questions lately as our following and show has grown such as: “What actually is a functional health approach to weight loss?” “Are labs like the GI Map or DUTCH test worth it?” “What do I even do with the results?” If you've ever thought, “I eat clean. I work out. I track my food. And yet… nothing's changing,” this episode is for you. In today's conversation, I open up about what I've learned after years of doing everything “right” and still feeling inflamed, exhausted, and stuck in a body that felt like it was working against me. We'll unpack the real reasons your body may be resisting fat loss, healing, and energy. To all the ill-informed men in my comments: It's not just discipline or willpower or eating less and moving more. You'll learn why functional testing can reveal what basic labs miss, and how systems like your gut, thyroid, liver, and adrenals all communicate in a connected “group chat”, where one disruption creates a cascade. I'll share the exact myths I had to break about weight loss, hormones, and healing and the turning point that finally helped me get real answers. This episode is about reconnecting with your body, learning to read its signals, and understanding that your symptoms aren't random, they're messages. You'll walk away with clarity, compassion for yourself, and hope that yes, this is fixable. If your body feels broken… this is the permission slip and path forward you've been waiting for. How the (part veggie) sausage gets made...Cara Nicoletti comes from a long line of butchers, but her grandfather didn't want her to follow in his footsteps. It's physical work, it requires long hours, the pay isn't great, and the path is even tougher for women. Cara went against her grandfather's wishes anyway and became a butcher — but she hasn't followed a traditional path. She spent ten years developing a type of sausage that none of her ancestors could have imagined. When it came time to start selling them on her own, it took a woman entrepreneur to tell her, “You're not thinking big enough.” Cara tells us about the challenges of getting her business off the ground, what makes her sausages special, and why she named the company after her grandfather. This episode originally aired on July 24, 2020, and was produced by Dan Pashman, Emma Morgenstern, Andres O'Hara and Julia Shu, edited by Tracey Samuelson and mixed by Jared O'Connell. Today, Sandra quizzes Rob on gut health, inflammation, and fats. These themes are all interconnected, and we discuss the role that certain types of fat have for our gut health and overall health. We talk about the biggest sources of fat in the average Canadian diet and if any of these foods are also included in the anti-inflammatory MIND diet. We link back these stats to reasons why (in general) the North American diet can be more of a pro-inflammatory way of eating and ways to alter this to help. On this episode I sit down with my friend Dave Knapp, an independent journalist and community leader in the world of GLP-1 receptor agonists. Living with obesity and type 2 diabetes himself, Dave has built a platform dedicated to connecting and educating people using these life-changing peptides. We break down the latest updates on the FDA's crackdown on compounding pharmacies and what it could mean for the future of GLP-1 access. We also dive into the shady role of Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) in driving up drug prices, the realities of living with obesity, and why traditional approaches to weight loss often fall short. Dave shares insights from his personal journey, including his experiences with keto and the struggles his community has faced. Topics Discussed: What is happening with the FDA's crackdown on compounding pharmacies and GLP-1 medications? How do Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) drive up drug prices and impact patient access? What are GLP-1 receptor agonists, and how are they changing the lives of people with obesity and type 2 diabetes? Why do traditional weight loss methods like “eat less, move more” often fail for people with metabolic disorders? You feel like you've invited God into your health goals. You've prayed. You've asked him to help you eat a certain way. You've asked him to give you "self control" around certain foods. Maybe you've even asked him to zap you skinny! But, it feels like he's not answering. It feels like it's hard, you obsess over food, you want to be free, but he seems to be silent. What do you do? Today, Heather Creekmore and Amy Carlson, (MS, RD and eating disorder specialist) talk about the whats and whys of our struggles with food and how to keep our eyes on Jesus (Matt. 6:33). Rice is the main staple for over half the world's population. The crop has problems though – it is vulnerable to climate change, whether that's drought or flooding. It's also a crop that contributes to climate change, as it uses more water than other grain crops and is frequently grown in flooded conditions. Rice production is also a big source of methane emissions. In this programme Ruth Alexander hears about the possible solutions to these problems. Dr Yvonne Pinto, Director General of the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines talks about their work developing new varieties of rice, and new more sustainable farming techniques. One rice company trialling these techniques is Tilda in the UK. General Manager Jean-Philippe Laborde explains what difference it's made to water and fertiliser use as well as methane emissions. Given the problems with rice, should we just eat less of it? Jakob Klein, anthropologist at SOAS University of London explains the Chinese government's attempts to convince people to eat more potato as a staple food. And we talk about the cultural importance of rice with listeners in the Philippines and Bangladesh. If you'd like to contact the programme email thefoodchain@bbc.co.uk Presented by Ruth Alexander. Improving the health of Black Americans can start with what we put on our forks. In Episode 251 I share five foods that we should eat less. 1. PORK-a homotoxin (human poison) that should not be eaten by any of us at any time EVER! 2. SUGAR-naturally occurring sugar in our fruit and plants are healthy however the ‘added granulated, processed sugar' and high fructose corn syrup contribute to spikes in our blood sugar and cardiovascular disease 3. MEAT-our digestive system's design, from our teeth to our intestines, suggest we are not inherently meat eaters 4. DAIRY-a common allergen linked to *ear infections, *respiratory issues, *eczema, (*often occurring in children) and digestive issues. 5. ULTRA PROCESSED FOOD PRODUCTS-least nutritious, most caloric, usually with a high fat, sugar or salt content and contribute to Cancer, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Dementia, Alzheimers, Depression, Anxiety and many of other conditions. Eating less of these foods can have surprising benefits to our appearance and general indicators for health. Look around and you will likely see someone doing something on their cellphone. For many of us, cellphones are a necessity and a constant companion. What about your relationship with your cellphone? This episode begins with a look at how Americans use their cellphone, how often they check it, and how they feel if they don't have it. You can then compare and see how you fit in with everyone else. https://www.reviews.org/mobile/cell-phone-addiction/ Why are some people overweight? The assumption is that they simply eat too much food and the way to lose weight is to simply eat less. But what if the real answer is not to eat less but to eat BETTER. There is some compelling science to support that, and it is what Mark Schatzker is here to discuss. He is a writer-in-residence at the Modern Diet and Physiology Research Center at Yale University and author of the book The End Of Craving : Recovering the Lost Wisdom of Eating Well (https://amzn.to/3QPFS1l) People like mysteries. The gang was live in D.C. last night to talk President Biden challenging Donald Trump to a debate in June. The former president accepted the early debate, but is it a smart move from the White House? Plus, the gang dives deep on where they stand on recent polling and the mindset of “the people,” and ponder whether they would vote for former GOP. Gov. Larry Hogan for the open Maryland senate seat now that the Democratic primary in the state is over.
