In this episode Mike, Rich and Steve take a look at four new DTV releases - click the links to check out the trailers for each film!   We kick off with DUCHESS (Vertigo Releasing), the latest film from Digest fave, Neil Marshall. Charlotte Kirk stars alongside Sean Pertwee and Philip Winchester in an action packed gangster movie... THINE EARS SHALL BLEED (Miracle Media) is not about a Death Metal band, as I'd initially surmised, but a period-set horror involving a pastor and his family stuck in the woods and encountering other-worldly sounds! CASH OUT (101 Films) sees retired master criminal pulled back in for one last job and facing off against his ex girlfriend, the police negotiator! LOOP TRACK (Arrow Video) is a New Zealand film about an insular guy finding something weird going on during his nature hike! Our Short Shot this week: IS NOW A GOOD TIME? - Jim Cummings directs and stars as a Disney rep trying to grant a wish to a dying child, only to be faced with some pertinent questions he might not be equipped to deal with! Our DTV Throwback is a banger - EL CHICANO is about a policeman who discovers not only a conspiracy to return California to Mexican control, but that his deceased brother was preparing to take on the mantle of a renowned folk-hero vigilante. You can find this on Amazon Prime and comes highly recommended by us!   Follow the Short Shots  on X (formerly Twitter) where you will find hundreds of links to awesome short films! At Kicking the Seat, we don't believe in curses--but this 0-for-3 streak of movie reviews between Ian and David has us asking, "Why not?"Neil Marshall's latest film, Duchess, is now available On Demand and playing in UK theaters, and the guys are absolutely flabbergasted that the writer/director of new-century genre staples Dog Soldiers and The Descent would even be capable of unleashing such a DOA paint-by-numbers actioner. In one of our shortest episodes this year, Ian and David unpack as much as they can (in spoilerific detail) before running out of steam. From fight scenes where the camera moves faster than the participants; to the dead-eyed, vengeance-seeking, tough-chick lead; to character interactions whose dialogue is so cliché-ridden they play like drinking games, Duchess is something that simply must be seen...wait for it...to be believed! But trust us: this review is time much better well spent!Subscribe, like, and comment to the Kicking the Seat YouTube channel, and check out kickseat.com for multiple movie podcasts each week!Show LinksWatch the Duchess trailer.Bonus! Hello, On what was a terrible day for many Americans, the US Capital Building has been stormed by rioters from the extreme right. Rioters stormed the building Wednesday, halting the confirmation of the Electoral Votes from the 2020 election. Thousands broke into the capital with guns and Trump signs. Police tried to restrain these moves, and after hours of this, the building was evacuated. Lawmakers abruptly went into recess because of angry rioters that were invading the chamber while the senate and house were in session. One woman died, and more than 7 were hospitalized. Anger arose at the horrific nature of these riots. Many thought that nothing this terrible could have happened. This moment will be remembered as a dark time in American politics. This unnecessary series of events comes as Democrats take control of the senate. Both Democratic candidates declared victory after Tuesday's runoff election. This narrow senate control may make things easier for incoming president Joe Biden. This may make bills easier to pass because of these seats that Democrats picked up in Georgia. Georgia hasn't seen Democratic senators since 2000. I talk to dad and actor Philip Winchester. He talks to me about being a dad, how his acting career took off, and his current acting career. It was great to talk to Philip about acting! And, Debbie! She returns from New York for a third interview, this time with a news quiz at the end. You'll see how she does, and find out what it is like to be a grandma!!! Thanks, Ezra --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/newsnerds/message

Today on The Neil Haley Show, The Total Tutor Neil Haley will interview Philip Winchester of NBC's LAW & ORDER: SVU. Philip Winchester reprises his role as Peter Stone on Wolf Films/Universal Television's “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” now in its 19th season.  Winchester originated the role on the 2017 NBC drama “Chicago Justice.”  Growing up in Montana with an American father and British mother, Winchester has a place in his heart for both sides of the Atlantic. As a teenager, he decided to devote himself to acting and moved to the U.K. to train in his craft. He was accepted to the prestigious London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, all the while helping with his grandmother's bed and breakfast inn outside London. After graduation, he quickly landed two key roles. The first was in the sci-fi adventure “Thunderbirds,” starring Bill Paxton, Anthony Edwards and Ben Kingsley and directed by Jonathan Frakes. In 2007, he played villainous Edmund in the Royal Shakespeare Company's “King Lear,” in the seminal production by Trevor Nunn and starring Ian McKellen. Winchester was cast in the title role of NBC's miniseries “Crusoe” in 2008, based on Daniel Defoe's novel. In 2010, he was cast in an extended arc on “Fringe” as a scientist and love interest of Anna Torv's character. In 2011, Winchester starred as King Arthur's trusted friend Leontes in the series “Camelot,” with Joseph Fiennes, Eva Green and Jamie Campbell Bower. In 2015, he wrapped filming five seasons overseas as one of the leads in the Emmy Award-nominated drama-action series “Strike Back,” which was Cinemax's first original primetime series in more than 15 years.
