Dibawakan oleh Rini, Hendry, dan Tirto dari Komunitas Pukat Labuan Bajo di Keuskupan Labuan Bajo, Indonesia. 2 Makabe 12: 43-46; Mazmur tg 143: 1-2.5-6.7ab.8ab.10; 1 Korintus 15: 20-24a.25-28; Yohanes 6: 37-40.KEBANGKITANBADAN DAN KEHIDUPAN KEKAL Renungan kita pada hari ini bertema: Kebangkitan Badan danKehidupan Kekal.  Pada hari ini Gerejakita merayakan hari pengenangan para arwah semua orang beriman. Kegiatan kitadalam Gereja pada hari ini ialah berdoa bagi para arwah itu. Para imam dimintauntuk merayakan tiga kali Ekaristi. Umat dapat menghadirinya sekaligusmenyampaikan intensi-intensi doa bagi arwah anggota keluarga mereka. Pentingnya untuk memahami peringatan dan tugas doa ini,kita perlu berangkat dari keyakinan iman yang hakiki. Di dalam rumusan doa “AkuPercaya”, kita percaya akan kebangkitan badan dan kehidupan kekal. Para arwahkeluarga dan sesama kita, dibantu dengan doa-doa seluruh Gereja supaya merekadianugerahi kebangkitan dan akhirnya menikmati kehidupan abadi di dalam surga.  Menyebut mereka “akhirnya menikmati hidup abadi di dalamsurga” ini memiliki makna yang penting. Ini berarti ada sebuah proses yangdilalui oleh para arwah sebelum masuk surga. Proses ini kita sebut dengan apipenyucian. Ajaran yang sangat khas dalam Gereja Katolik ini ingin menegaskanbahwa penyucian bagi para arwah merupakan proses pemurnian. Mereka bagaidibakar supaya menjadi murni. Dosa-dosa dan akibatnya yang masih melekat dalamdiri para arwah ini dibersihkan. Mereka tentu menderita karena pemurnian ini.  Tetapi mereka sendiri tidak bisa membantu dirinya sendiri.Mereka sebagai arwah tidak memiliki segala kemungkinan untuk berkumpul danberdoa. Oleh karena itu mereka sangat membutuhkan dukungan doa-doa kita yangmasih berada di dunia. Kitab kedua Makabe dalam bacaan pertama menetapkan duabentuk bantuan kepada para arwah ini, yaitu doa dan kurban. Doa-doa kitamencakup yang paling sederhana seperti doa pribadi yang spontan sampai denganibadat Ekaristi. Kurban itu bisa dalam bentuk barang, uang dan perbuatan yangdipersembahkan ke Gereja. Ajaran api penyucian tentang doa-doa dan kurban dari kita,bertujuan untuk kebangkitan dan kehidupan abadi para arwah, dan ini adalahbagian sumbangan dari Gereja. Bagiannya Tuhan adalah peristiwa Yesus bangkitdan menyediakan tempat bagi setiap pengikut-Nya. Ia berkehendak kalau tak adasatu pun dari pengikut-Nya hilang. Dia berhenti di sebuah restoran dan duduk dekat sekelompok anak muda yang sedang berpesta sambil setengah mabuk. Ketika makanan pesanannya telah dihidangkan di depannya, orang tua itu menundukkan kepalanya dan berdoa. Sekelompok anak muda tersebut menertawakan apa yang dilakukan petani itu. Salah seorang dari mereka berteriak, "Hai, orang tua, apakah orang-orang di rumahmu selalu berdoa sebelum makan?" Dengan tenang orang tua itu berpaling ke arah anak muda itu, dan dengan suara yang keras ia menjawab, "Ya, anakku, kecuali hewan-hewan peliharaan di rumahku." Makanan jasmani adalah berkat yang Tuhan berikan kepada kita. Oleh karena itu patutlah kita mensyukurinya sebelum menyantapnya. Pernahkah kita makan di sebuah rumah makan atau restoran dan melihat di belakang pintu masuk ada benda semacam jimat yang digantung untuk melariskan makananan di tempat itu? Kalau kita pernah melihatnya, saat kita makan di tempat tersebut, itu artinya makanan di tempat itu sudah dicemari dan dinajiskan oleh kuasa kegelapan yang mereka minta dalam bentuk jimat-jimat penglaris. Oleh karena itu doa sebelum makan dibutuhkan untuk menguduskan kembali makanan tersebut dan ditutup dengan doa ucapan syukur sesudah makan. Yesus tidak pernah malu mengakui kita sebagai anak-Nya, oleh karena itu, kita pun tidak perlu malu untuk berdoa pada saat makan di tempat umum.
