It would be a terrible irony if not for the fact that it appears deliberate. FDA's regulation of the U.S. vaping industry not only delivers big tobacco a de facto monopoly on the legal sale of vaping products, but it also grants them a monopoly on harm reduction. Yet it decries “tobacco harm reduction” as an “industry term.” Joining us today to dissect this disturbing paradox is eminent scientist and cardiologist Dr. Konstantinos Farsalinos. Classic Episode: The Olympics (Episode 58 - Released August 9th 2021)The boys are safe in their last week in Bolivia, stick around for the classic episode The Olymipics. And see you next week for first episode back!(Original Show Notes)Episode 058 of That Was Disappointing is Live. What do you mean the closing ceremony was last night?Today's Theme: The Olympics. Team USA had the highest medal count for the 2020 Olympics held in 2021, because that's the batshit insanity we're dealing with. Our first topic is non-enhancing drugs: why are athletes being dinged for this? Art loves his edibles and he wants to know why that would disqualify him from competition. We're just going to overlook the fact that his edibles go by the street name “Little Debbie.”Our second topic is the most ridiculous events of the modern-day Olympiad. Did you know pistol dueling and live pigeon shooting used to be events? We're guessing Kelly didn't as she chose to focus on the present. Or maybe she just really hates water polo. *shrugs*Our third topic is a serious one FOR ONCE. Specifically, the mental health of our athletes. Lex takes all of the trolls to task for poo-pooing the struggles of our superstar athletes. Now, if someone could just get him to stop Monday morning quarterbacking…Our final topic is the sport you feel you'd excel in. Difficulty: you have to create it first. Kat served us up, but we kept our choices relatively mild. Well, with the exception of Producer Kenny, but seeing as he's the one doing the scoring here, we won't count his severed toe collection.

With An Innocent Man, Billy Joel took an important step forward by taking a big leap backward. Released August 8, 1983, the ten-song album sold a million copies within two months of its release and four million just a year later. And, it boasts a Number One single with two more hitting the Top Ten. The album, famously, is an homage to the pre-British Invasion music from Billy's youth. But as stylized as the tracks are, the song cycle is more than just nostalgia. A close listen reveals a unique mash-up of youthful music paired with much more mature, wiser lyrics.  But analysis aside, it's easily Billy's most fun album. And, it's the one that introduced him to a new set of fans – effectively securing his stardom for the next decade.  For this album episode, we're doing something a little different: Along with our biographical information and overall critiques, we did a listen-through where we comment on the songs in real time. Listeners can hear exactly what we're hearing when we make an observation.  Join us, as we dig deep into Billy Joel's An Innocent Man.   ------   Email us: glasshousespodcast@gmail.com   Glass Houses - A Billy Joel Podcast on the web / social media: Website: http://www.glasshousespod.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glasshousespodcast/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/glasshousespod/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/glasshousespod  Discord: https://discord.gg/6G6cMRFu7T   Support the podcast: Paypal: https://paypal.me/glasshousespod Venmo: @MGrosvenor   Produced by Michael Grosvenor & Jack Firneno for Groove Music Marketing

PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH, the third release from “Big Six” Bay Area thrashers TESTAMENT, is a bit of a departure from the more eerie, dark, and creepy signature sound represented on The Legacy & The New Order.   There's an almost upbeat, “good time thrash” vibe to it, with “more singy, less screamy” vocals and “more accessible” songs that radio stations could feel safer playing over the airwaves (especially during the daytime).  Some might say it's their “…And Justice For Black Album” album, others might say it's their “…And Black Album For All” album. EPISODE 296: High Priests Rebecca and Rey are at it again with another discussion HOT off the press after the release of the latest and greatest Moon Knight issue from the stellar current series! SEGMENT: MOONSHINE - NEW COMIC BOOK REVIEW Moon Knight Vol. 9 #14 - 'Soldier, Rich Man, Scoundrel' Released August 3rd, 2022 Writer(s) Jed MacKay Penciler(s) Alessandro Cappuccio Colorist(s) Rachelle Rosenberg Letterer(s) Cory Petit BARE BONES (Written by Rey):  Marc, Steven and Jake enter an internal conversation after the two latter alters are forced to intervene due to Marc almost killing Zodiac in front of Reese. Marc justifies his actions to ‘take control' and it's discovered that although the identities had found harmony fighting the likes of Sun King, Ernst and the Socitie, Marc felt compelled to stay at the forefront, after the Age of Khonshu. Crushing the Avengers at the whim of Khonshu had not put Moon Knight in good stead with the hero community, so measures were made by Marc to portray Moon Knight in a more conventional light. However, there were other reasons that Steven and Jake were pushed to the background too. Marc's insecurities surface - his reluctance to tell Reese about his DID for fear of losing her…someone he deeply cares about; also, Marc mentions how both Steven and Jake are the more appealing sides of Marc…showing how little Marc values his own worth. Elsewhere in  the physical world, Moon Knight battles Tutor's assassins Nemean and Grand Mal, reflecting the internal struggle inside. Whilst the mind of Moon Knight is not in harmony, his body suffers, and it's at the hands of Nemean and Grand Mal that it all becomes too much. Thankfully, just as Marc comes to the realisation - it's always better to work together…and as he finally agrees to work with Steven and Jake, in the outside world, Hunter's Moon and Tigra come to Moon Knight's aid. Episode 70 The Sonic Origins of Electronic Dance Music Trying to understand the evolution and history of electronic dance music (EDM) is a daunting task. We'll explore some of the sonic roots to see how we got to EDM—a beat-driven music powered by electronics and often focused on creating a trancelike musical state. Playlist Jesse Saunders, “On And On” from On and On (1984 Jes Say Records). Possibly the first DJ-created album created as a commercial public release. Produced, Performed, Arranged By Jesse Saunders; written by Jesse Saunders, Vince Lawrence. 8:02 Armin Van Buuren, “Sail” from Sail (2006 Armind). This 12” original mix was written by and produced by Armin van Buuren. 7:29 Amelie Lens, “Linger On” from Let it Go (2016 Second State). EDM performer and producer from Antwerp, Belgium. 7:41 Timmy Thomas, “Why Can't We Live Together,” from Why Can't We Live Together (1972 Glades). Timmy Thomas, Hammond organ and drum machine. Note the rapid-fire drum sequences sprinkled in here and there, a premonition around the future sound of drum machines. 4:38 Kraftwerk, “Uranium” from Radioactivity (1975 Kling-Klang). Not so much a danceable turn, but the choir sample was later repurposed by New Order in Blue Monday, so a worthy acknowledgement to Kraftwerk. 1:26 Kraftwerk, “Transistor” from Radioactivity (1975 Kling-Klang). Electronic percussion, Karl Bartos, Wolfgang Flür; Voice, Electronics, Florian Schneider, Ralf Hütter. 3:43 Kraftwerk, “Europe Endless” from Trans Europe Express (1977 Kling-Klang). Electronic Drums, Karl Bartos, Wolfgang Flur; Electronics, Voice, Florian Schneider, Ralf Hutter. 9:38 Biddu Orchestra, “Bionic Boogie” from Bionic Boogie (1976 Epic). A 45 RPM single from the disco era, featuring some electronics in the form of synthesizers. Biddu was an Indian-British music producer, composer, songwriter and singer. This was a departure for the Biddu Orchestra, which was normally engaged in full disco orchestrations, not the sonic textures of synthesizers, which are heard here, if somewhat overlayed by the other instruments. 2:59 Donna Summer, “I Feel Love” from I Remember Yesterday (1977 Casablanca). Written and sung by Donna Summer; produced by and Moog Synthesizer, Giorgio Moroder; Moog Synthesizer, Robby Wedel; Moog Bass, Thor Baldursson; Drums, Percussion, Keith Forsey; Bass, Les Hurdle.5:52 Space, “Save Your Love For Me” from Just Blue (1978 Vogue). Space was a French group, created around Didier Marouani (aka Ecama) and Roland Romanelli, acclaimed for their 1977 UK disco hit "Magic Fly." 5:45 Space, “Final Signal” from Just Blue (1978 Vogue). Space was a French group, created around Didier Marouani (aka Ecama) and Roland Romanelli. 4:21 Yellow Magic Orchestra, “Computer Game (Theme From The Invader)” from Yellow Magic Orchestra (1978 Horizon). Japanese techno band, parallel to later Kraftwerk. Drums, Percussion, Other Electronics, Vocals – Yukihiro Takahashi; Keyboards, Other [Electronics], Percussion, orchestrated by Ryuichi Sakamoto; Produced by Harry Hosono; Micro Composer programmer, Hideki Matsutake. 4:28 Mandré, “M3000 (Opus VI)” from M3000 (1979 Motown). Produced and Arranged By Andre Lewis. Lewis was a keyboardist who went on to collaborate with many artists, not the least of which for Frank Zappa for whom he played keyboards for The Mothers of Invention after the departure of George Duke. 5:43 New Order, “Blue Monday” from Blue Monday/The Beach (1983, Factory). This was a 12-inch 45 RPM single of the song which became a top seller. New Order was firmly entrenched in the synth-pop dance/crossover genre at that time and this song with its funky samples, mechanical progression and even references to Kraftwerk (the vocal choir heard is indeed a sample from Kraftwerk's “Uranium” released in 1975 effectively put a few more bricks in the bridge to electronic dance music. 7:27 Michel Huygen, “Take Now Music (Extended Instrumental Version)” from Capturing Holograms (1984 jive Electro). Recorded early 1984 in Barcelona (Spain). Composed, performed, produced, and programmed by Belgian born synthesist Michel Huygen, a member of the Spanish group Neuronium in 1976. 5:34 Kraftwerk, “Der Telefon Anruf (German Version)” from The Telephone Call (1987 EMI). Listen to this track and you will hear similarities in later work by New Order, particularly the comping synth chords and pattern. 3:47 New Order, “World (The Price Of Love) (Radio Edit)” from World. (The Price Of Love) (1993 London Records). CD single of the track also found on the album Republic (1993 London Records). This sounds as if New Order is still thanking Kraftwerk for their inspiration. 3:39 Opening background music: New Order, “Confusion (Instrumental)” (1983 Streetwise). Mixed by Arthur Baker and John "Jellybean" Benitez. New Order's sixth single and their first collaboration with Arthur Baker. Released August 22, 1983.   Opening and closing sequences voiced by Anne Benkovitz. Additional opening, closing, and other incidental music by Thom Holmes. Season 3 officially comes to a close with our discussion of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Released August 22, 2017 – less than a year after Uncharted 4 – Lost Legacy puts Chloe Frazer in the starring role for the first time. She's not alone, however; former antagonist Nadine Ross partners with her, leading to an odd-couple-style treasure hunt that may be shorter than Uncharted 4 but was just as entertaining. Prior to this, Naughty Dog batted around other combinations of characters for this adventure including Sully and Sam Drake. How did the team turn The Lost Legacy around so quickly after A Thief's End? What's the deal with that "wimpy" train explosion? Listen here to hear the answers to these questions and more. Join hosts Marcus Stewart (@MarcusStewart7), Ben Reeves (@BenjaminReeves), and former Game Informer intern O'Dell Harmon Jr. (@ODellHarmonJr) as we unpack the history and narrative of the final Uncharted game to date. THIS EPISODE'S DISCUSSION - Spider-Woman Vol. 7 #14 Released August 18th, 2021 Written by Karla Pacheco Drawn by Pere Perez Colours by Frank D'Armata Letters by VC's Travis Lanham Cover: Junggeon Yoon, Netease Marvel Games Variant Production Designer: Anthony Gambino Editors: Lindsay Cohick, Nick Lowe SYNOPSIS (Courtesy of Rey): With Lindsay visiting from LA for a long needed catch-up and to look after Gerry, Jessica prepares to meet Michael, her brother, for an explanation as to why her apartment was set upon by mercenaries. It appears Michael was behind it all, however he implores Jessica to give him a chance to explain. Arriving at Marchand pharmaceuticals, Jessica is greeted by Michael (complete with softball uniform) but it isn't long before they are interrupted by Rose Roche, Michae's assistant. Rose takes responsibility for having Jessica's house burgled and it's revealed that the copy of the Wyndham file given to Michael for his daughter Rebecca, came with a single-use only. Michael and Rose needed Jessica's files to continue their work, much to Jessica's disgust. What was meant to be a cure for Rebecca, seems to have turned out as an opportunity to mass produce and market Wyndham's genius. Rose attacks Jessica revealing that Michael had used the Wyndham array on her, giving her powers, and they give Jessica an ultimatum - give them the Wyndham files...or else. Jessica replies that she needs time to think about it and back at her apartment, both she and Lindsay decide to raid Marchand Pharmaceuticals to steal back what they can from Michael and Rose, in an effort to halt Michael's plans to reverse engineer the Wyndham technology. With Gerry safely straddled in a carrier, both Jessica and Lindsay storm the entrance, before Jessica is left to carry out the rest of their mission by herself. Rose suddenly appears and the two fight it out, resulting in them crashing through a wall and revealing Michael on an operating table, dosed with a hybrid formula of both the Marchand serum and Wyndham's array. Michael's new transformation sees him as a monstrous version of himself, augmented with Spider powers and hell bent on destroying Jessica. Trading blows, Michael finally manages to web Jessica against a wall and deal out a deathblow when suddenly Rebecca appears, screaming for him to stop. Michael pauses, reassuring Rebecca that he'll always be her Dad...but to everyone else, he is now called Aeternum! Remember - To Know Her Is To Fear Her! Enjoy!
