I am joined by my friend Gregg Pruett who is the President of Pioneer Bible Translators and has the important task of translating the Bible into different languages. That might sound simple, but Gregg explains how difficult that really is. In the podcast, Gregg shares about his time living in Africa and explains how messages can be lost in translations and misinterpreted at times, with a story about how John the Baptist's story was translated. I ask that we partner in prayer and support Gregg in this challenging commission with translating the Bible.

Adversity is a part of life. We can sometimes think that having a relationship with Jesus makes us exempt from hardships that can cause fear, anxiety, and even trauma. While that isn't the case, it is true that our relationship with Jesus can change how we handle and respond to the adversity that comes into our lives.Joining me for this conversation is Karen Bettison. Karen served as a Bible translator, a literary specialist, and a medical missionary with Pioneer Bible Translators for 25 years. She currently works as a nurse and has been an educator, author, speaker, and Bible study leader in the US and Africa. As I said in the last episode, I've been working on the Selling Jesus project, which is now well underway with a ton of content. Please check out the website sellingJesus.org and you'll find enough reading material to keep you busy all Christmas vacation. Also, it would mean the world to me if you would help boost the views of the first Selling Jesus video on YouTube, which is on the homepage of sellingJesus.org, and share it around. I'll be releasing the next long video in the series soon, so make sure you're subscribed to the YouTube channel. Selling Jesus is also a podcast, so if you'd rather listen to the articles on the website, you can do that on the podcast. There's already a lot of content on there, and we post more every week. In this episode I'm highlighting the ministry of Pioneer Bible Translators, and I'm joined by Tim MacSaveny who was kind enough to share the ins and outs of his organization. My hope is that this will be helpful for those who don't know much about PBT and want to find out more, especially those who are trying to navigate the differences between all the BT orgs and decide who to join. Tim is married to Erin, they have four kids, and they've served with PBT since 2008. Currently they live in Louisville, KY. Tim and Erin facilitate Bible translation for two projects in two different countries. The first is a people group living in southeastern Tanzania. Tim travels to Tanzania three times a year to meet face-to-face with the translation team, while working remotely throughout the year. The second project involves a diaspora group who have experienced significant tribal and political attacks in their home area of eastern Congo. Many of them now live in the US. This project is currently being hosted at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky, where the MacSavenys now live. Tim and Erin, along with their children Rose, Everett, Julian, and Lucy, have served with Pioneer Bible Translators since 2008. tim.macsaveny@pbti.org Visit https://pioneerbible.org/ to find out more. workingfortheword.com | my books | twitter | music | Hebrew | academic articles | facebook | contact | download all episodes for offline

Missions Pulse A husband and wife couple serve as translation specialists with Pioneer Bible Translators. By integrating Bible translation and Scripture engagement, they provide enduring access to God's Word for people in West Africa. There are very few followers of Jesus among their target people group. Having Scripture in their own language is an important step for them to know and follow Jesus. Our guests are excited to see more people experience life transformation through God's Word. The Bible can become an excellent outreach as a literacy tool too. In this interview you will hear about how much more translation work needs to be done, considering that there are currently 7,300 different languages spoken on this planet. (Hint: many of the most widespread languages have multiple Scripture options; many thousands do not yet have a single version of the full Holy Bible.) For additional information and inspiration about stretching the world's access to God's Word: Pioneer Bible Translators W4W – with Andrew Case (workingfortheword.com) 2022 Global Scripture Access - Wycliffe Global Alliance Missions Pulse is launching as a new News Features series from Family Life. On selected Mondays throughout this summer, our Abigail Hofland will bring you first-person stories to you from the front-line leaders in Christian missions and ministry. Listen during the Family Life Noon Report, find (and share) these conversations 24/7 from the News Podcasts page, or go there to subscribe so you can be notified each time a favorite feature of yours posts a new episode.

(1 Peter 1:3-9; Rom 8:18-25) The chapel theme for the 2021-2022 year is "upRoar". The Greek word that is translated as “uproar” isἐκταράσσω (ektarassō),: to agitate, to disturb wholly, to exceedingly trouble. Although an uproar is “seen,” it is preceded with a subversive force. The church operates in a similar way, being subversive to the rhythm of the culture it exists within. It is the perpetuation of this subversive force that causes and creates an uproar that is seen and felt. It is our goal this year to explore ways for us to participate in the subversive kingdom force that will create an uproar in the culture God calls us to. Today's episode of Kingdom Culture Conversations may very well be unlike any other podcast episode that you have ever heard. Why? Because one of our two guests cannot hear. When he was just two-years-old, Mark Lowenstein lost his hearing in a bout with spinal meningitis. As a result, he grew up a stranger in a hearing world. But, as the product of a deaf pastor that worked to engage him, Mark found the Lord and eventually, courageously came to realize that God was calling him to lead Pioneer Bible Translator's momentous effort to translate the entire Bible for the world's largest unreached people group: the 70 million deaf people around the world. Tragically, of this huge number, only 20% can read and write and only 2% have ever even "heard" the Good News of Jesus. We are also joined by Frank Kollman, also of Pioneer Bible Translators, who is a champion of deaf ministry and Christian education. Frank works to translate today's compelling conversation with Mark.To learn more about Pioneer Bible Translators, please click here."Kingdom Culture Conversations" is a podcast created through Frameworks, a Biblical worldview initiative of Northwest Christian School. For more information on Frameworks, please visit: https://frameworks.ncsaz.org/For more information on Northwest Christian School, visit: https://www.ncsaz.org/To reach out to Geoff Brown, please email gbrown@ncsaz.org or you can reach him by cell phone: (623)225-5573.

Testimonies from Aaron &Grace Ogburn about their work with Pioneer Bible Translators; and Warren & Karen Hatley.
180 million people in more than 2,000 languages are Bibleless. This weekend we've asked Greg Pruett, the President of Pioneer Bible Translators to bring us a special message from the work they're doing to translate the Gospel into every language, and bring it to every tribe and tongue around the world.
August is Missions Month at Hillcrest Christian Church. Nathan Davenport, recruiter at Pioneer Bible Translators, shares from 1 Samuel 11-1-4. Jesus Christ is the hope of the world. He has the power to transform lives by bringing hope to a hopeless situation. Listen as Nathan shares many inspiring accounts where that has taken place throughout the world.

Did you know there are 7,360 languages spoken in the world? And that some portion of the Bible is translated into only 1,160 many of them? But only 704 languages have the full Bible? How crazy is that?! Just let that sink in for a moment. There are so many lost people in the world that need to have the word of God available for them.Thankfully, there are many faithful missionaries in the world that are working hard to bring the bible to those who need it. 2,731 languages have active translation work happening right now. In today's episode I got the pleasure of meeting two of those faithful missionaries actively translating the Word Of God, James and Jenneka Lundeen, and hearing all about what the process of Bible translation is really like James and Jenneka Lundeen serve with Pioneer BIble Translators in Tanzania, East Africa. Pioneer Bible Translators seeks to bring the Bible to people groups who do not yet have the full Bible in the language that speaks best to their hearts. The Lundeens met while in graduate school preparing to go overseas to work in missions. They are living and working with their people group in Tanzania, and working with a team of native speakers to translate the Bible. They are excited to see how the Bible and the Holy Spirit will transform this community of people. I talk with James and Jenneka all about what their lives are like as missionaries and Bible translators in Tanzania living amongst a people group much different than their own. We talk about the struggles of learning a language and immersing yourself in a new culture and they share the nitty gritty of what you need to know if you would like to do the same. Get Involved! This week Rachel interviews two of her friends from school about their unique work for the kingdom of God. Although they are currently in the United States to visit family and eat tacos, Aaron & Grace Ogburn serve very different yet connected ministries in Milan, Italy. They felt called to minister with people who are as far removed from main stream Christianity as you can possibly be in our world. While Aaron works with refugees in Italy, Grace works to translate the Bible into languages that have never had God's Word. Rachel talks with them about these unique opportunities and how the work is both a challenge and a blessing. If you want to learn more about the work that Aaron and Grace are doing and contribute to their support, visit them at Pioneer Bible Translators.
After nearly four decades, the complete Bible is now available in American Sign Language for the first time ever.Deaf Missions, a ministry dedicated to communicating “the Gospel of Jesus with Deaf people through their heart language, culture and identity,” began the project in the early 1980s.In 2016, the mission partnered with Wycliffe USA, American Bible Society, Deaf Bible Society, Deaf Harbor, DOOR International, Pioneer Bible Translators, and Seed Company to complete the project. The Deaf Bible Society President J.R. Bucklew previously said that "although there are various text translations of the Bible available, some 95% of the world's deaf population is functionally illiterate. And only 20 of the world's 400 sign languages have some form of Bible content available."The final books needed — Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel — were completed this fall. Now, the entire Bible is available to the world’s 70 million people who are deaf for free online, through social media, and on a smartphone app. The translation was led by people who themselves are deaf and trained in the biblical languages.

Greg Pruett, President of Pioneer Bible Translators and author of "Extreme Prayer," was a guest speaker today. Prayer is the strategy that powers the church--that powers the mission of God. Prayer sustains the body of Christ. There are many verses in the Bible that emphasize this: Mark 11: 15-17, John 14: 12-14, John 15, John 16: 23-24, Luke 18: 1, Matthew 18: 19-20, and others.
Corban welcomes back Michelle Schubert Claussen as the 2020 Women of Grit conference speaker. Michelle works with Pioneer Bible Translators. She is also known for her role on the television show "Survivor: Millennials vs. Gen X." Her chapel message will encourage the community to live in the strength and confidence that comes from our identity in Christ.
Michelle was raised Christian, but had a dramatic conversion at the age of 24. She now works for Pioneer Bible Translators. Back in 2016 Michelle made it to day 23 on Survivor Millennials vs. Gen X. I really enjoyed hearing about her faith journey, and I hope she'll send some more castaways my way.
This week we have Guest speaker David Hamilton from Pioneer Bible Translators speaking on "Fear, Trust & The Mission of God". Recorded on June 30, 2019, at Canyon Springs Christian Church in Middleton Idaho.
Greetings Friends! Thanks for listening or reading this news update, which is for everyone reading the Bible— but especially to all who are following the Digging Deeper Daily reading plan. As always, you can find all sorts of information about this reading plan at dailybiblereading.info. That’s where to look for helpful tips to make it easy listen or read the Bible in a year. In particular, see the Read This First information linked in the site header. I praise God that the 3rd semester of the Read To Me Daily reading plan is live now in your YouVersion Bible reading app. The link for subscribing is in the episode notes. If you don’t know, this reading plan follows the Digging Deeper Daily reading plan (like my podcasts) but this is an audio plan within YouVersion. In the third semester, I read the devotional page, then the internally bundled YouVersion recordings are played for the Bible readings. Please pray for me in preparing the 4th semester, so that it will be published before people complete the 3rd semester. I haven't been posting the videos from TheBibleProject.com like I planned in email updates and at our Facebook group. But I do at least want to remind you of them. The overview videos for each Bible book that they have done are Way Better than my short comments in the podcasts. They are especially helpful for more difficult books of the Bible, like the Old Testament prophetic books. Our Facebook group is now replaced by our forum at http://biblereaders.info. Right after this news podcast goes live, I will do another podcast on What Greek text of the New Testament that I recommend. That is the Byzantine text. In my opinion, the Nestle-Aland text no longer holds up under academic scrutiny as the best text for Bible translation or serious Bible study. In my podcast notes, I will link to readable articles that support what I am saying. For me as a Bible translator, this is not a decision I have made lightly. This will mean a lot of work for me and my team in Indonesia, because we will revise our published New Testament to match the Byzantine text by 2022. Some have asked and will ask if I will redo all my daily Bible reading podcasts. I’m sorry, I certainly won’t have time for that. But here’s what I want to do, LORD willing: I would like to make a new series of podcasts of the New Testament that will be based on a new translation of the best Greek text. These won’t be daily podcasts, and I can’t do this alone. I need some volunteers who have time to help me. If you can use online Bible study tools effectively, and think you might have a flair for expressing Bible concepts in everyday language, please use the contact link at dailybiblereading.info to email me. Here is the MOST IMPORTANT thing I want to share with you in this News update: I want to highly recommend that EVERYONE who will read this letter or listen to this podcast to see the documentary movie called American Gospel. If you don’t want to spring immediately for the two hour movie (which is well worth the $5 price), please view the free one hour video linked here. This is a very clear presentation of the TRUTH about the false gospel that is being taught in so many churches in America. Even if you feel that your church is teaching what the Bible teaches, I still urge you to see the one hour version of American Gospel. I think every Christian needs to be able to identify the false message, because someone you know is listening to it, and you will want to be able to help them. If you live in another country, I also urge you view to this video, because this false gospel has been exported all around the globe. Let me also share another little tidbit on this topic, showing Francis Chan’s perspective. In family news, I am thrilled that my grandson Luke (16) will be going with me for 18 days to Papua, Indonesia, starting on the 22nd of June. Four college age people in an internship program with Pioneer Bible Translators will meet us there, and I will take them for a five-day adventure living in an Orya village. The goal of this time is to find out what village life in a tropical rainforest is like. They will help catch, butcher, harvest, and prepare the food we eat. I hope that they leave feeling like they have truly made a few good friends among the Orya people. And I know that whenever I go out there, the people will ask me about Luke and the four interns. Please pray in the first week of July! We hope that this experience will prepare all five of them for whatever service God has in mind for them in the future. Lord bless you all. We send our love in Christ to you. Phil & Gale

Phil & Gale

There are around 7,000 languages spoken in the world today. One of the greatest barriers to a people hearing the gospel is a Bible or at least some part of the Bible in their mother tongue. All over the world countries have national languages, but often those are used to supply a common language for people to communicate in the day to day tasks of life like business, education, and government. However, the language people speak at home or that fills their internal dialogue that they contemplate their deepest thoughts is their mother tongue. These are the languages that represent those that do not have a Bible. All the world’s major languages like Mandarin, Arabic, English, Spanish and so on, have a Bible and have had for a long time. Of the 7,000 languages worldwide around 5,000 have the full bible, portions of the Bible, or a current translation project in process to translating portions of the Bible. That leaves around 2,000 languages needing a translation project to begin. Wycliffe and other Bible translation organizations like Pioneer Bible Translators are out to change this. In episode 5 of Translators, Ben and Rose talk about this Translation effort in Tanzania.
