Dabei durchlief er auch einen Prozess vom Einser-Sprinter zum Road Captain, in welcher er an der Seite von Mark Cavendish jahrelang das Tempo vorgab und ihn damit zu großen Siegen führte. Erfolg hinterlässt Spuren und auch diese Folge ist wieder Beweis dafür. Manchmal ist es notwendig sein eigenes Ego hinunter zu schlucken, seine Rolle im Team zu überdenken, neu zu verstehen und dann auszuführen. Bernhard hat genau diese herausragende Eigenschaft in seiner Karierre entwickelt und umgesetzt. Ein Merkmal eines richtigen Leaders und Teamplayers.
