This week James and Will are joined by Andy Schleck, Tour de France winner, brother to Frank and victim in the infamous chaingate affair, in which Alberto Contador rode past a stricken Schleck – the yellow jersey wearer having suffered a dropped chain – to snatch the 2010 Tour de France top step. Two years later, Schleck was retroactively awarded the win after Contador was banned for doping, but how does that sit with the 39-year-old Luxembourgish today? In a wonderfully candid chat, Schleck explains his thoughts then and now, plus what it meant to race with his brother, his special bond with teammates forged off the road, the doping scene in the early 2000s, his stunning 2009 Tour and his bittersweet experience in 2011, the injuries that led to retirement, the personal crisis he faced once he hung up his wheels, and what he really thinks about Bjarne Riis, Johan Bruyneel, Chris Froome and, of course, Christmas.Today, Andy Schleck runs several successful cycling shops in Luxembourg and is ambassador for the Kitzbüheler Radmarathon, a gruelling sportive that takes place in Austria in September 2025.----Did you know Cyclist is also stunning monthly print magazine? Spillers, we thought you'd like this episode of But Are You Happy? We've all faced those biting comments about our looks or how we act, and we often let those words affect us, even though they shouldn't. Lucinda Price, AKA Froomes, grew up convinced that to fit in with the 'right' crowd, she had to be hot. Back then, certain traits were seen as the ultimate beauty standard, leading her to believe she had to change parts of herself to be accepted. In this episode, Froomes—who's an author, comedian, broadcaster, and internet personality—sits down with Clare Stephens to chat about the unrealistic beauty standards we've all faced and how they've affected her and so many other women. This conversation isn't just about happiness, it's also about self-acceptance and navigating the challenges that come with it. So, after working to overcome so much and be comfortable in her own skin, is Froomes happy? Let's find out. THE END BITS Follow 'But Are You Happy?' This week on the Spin Cycle podcast, Caley, Jonny, and Kit kick off with an update on Tom Pidcock's dramatic transfer saga. It turns out he's going nowhere. Or is he? This whole situation adds to the growing narrative that INEOS is a difficult team to be on, as evidenced by Ethan Hayter's recent comments about the "weird environment." Despite the failed transfer, it sounds like there are a few other teams still interested in acquiring Pidcock, but it'll probably take a hefty buyout to pry him away from INEOS at this point.Next up, the crew discuss Chris Froome's shocking admission that he won't be vying for another Tour de France victory. It's tough to see a legendary athlete come to terms with the limitations of their body, but we admire Froome's honesty and grace in addressing the situation. We also take some time to discuss the UCI's exploration of budget caps within the WorldTour. Chris Marshall Bell, who broke the story for Escape Collective, joins to talk about the potential implications of these financial regulations. While there's no consensus on the matter yet, it's clear that the UCI is serious about addressing the financial disparities within the sport. And finally, we want to take a moment to acknowledge the tough news regarding Chris Hoy's health. His strength and positivity in the face of such a challenging diagnosis are truly inspiring, and we wish him and his family all the best.

After Jonas Vingegaard's torching of his rivals in the Combloux time trial, these are RadioCycling's latest headlines...Like Jacques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault or Miguel Induráin in their time trialling pomp, Jonas Vingegaard not only beat Tadej Pogačar in the Tour's only TT, but blitzed him, putting an astonishingly large gap between himself and his arch-rival. We reflect on this incredible performance, on what it means for the GC battle, and on whether Pogačar has the ability – and enough road left – to surpass his first-week comeback and turn the battle for the yellow jersey around again. As is the case all too often nowadays, the Tour has seen further big crashes caused by the recklessness and witlessness of fans. The latest, last Friday, saw American climber Sepp Kuss felled and injured. With his Jumbo-Visma team considering whether to sue the fan who caused the pile-up, we get reaction from Groupama-FDJ DS Philippe Mauduit and ask whether the legal path is the right one to go down on these occasions. Our recent interview with Israel-PremierTech owner Sylvan Adams on the future of veteran team leader Chris Froome led to some kickback, not least from the four-time Tour winner's camp.  In order to clarify some of his previous comments, notably on the length of Froome's IPT contract, we went back to Adams, who not only outlines the key details but also doubles down on his comments about the British rider. It's now 25 years since the Festina affair, when doping was revealed to be rife in the sport and Tour almost came to a halt before it had reached Paris. With the aim of gauging what and how much has changed in the interim, we speak to three team directors who were racers back then. EF Education's Charly Wegelius, Jayco-AlUla's Matt White and Jumbo-Visma's Frans Maassen explain how the difference between then and now is "like night and day". We hear about eating "slop", "the Belgie clean", and how not all of the changes over the last quarter of a century have been for the best. And finally, in our Coffee Beans section...– Citroën to part ways with AG2R team– Ineos boss Ratcliffe throws a big bash in Courchevel for his team–  Carlos Rodríguez caught in Ineos-Movistar contractual tug of warSupport the show

In a very frank interview with Radio Cycling's Chris Marshall-Bell, Israel-PremierTech team owner Sylvan Adams explains why four-time Tour de France champion Chris Froome didn't merit a place in their Tour de France line-up and says that the British rider hasn't fulfilled the hopes IPT had for him when he signed an extremely lucrative multi-year contract three years ago. "He's supposed to be our leader at the Tour de France and he's not even here, so no I couldn't say he's value for money, no," Adams declares. While stating that he has the utmost respect for Froome and his racing achievements, Adams compares the seven-time Grand Tour victor to basketball all-time great Michael Jordan during his final season in the NBA, stating, "Father Time spares no athlete." Adams goes on to admit, "My idea was, ‘Wow, we're going to have somebody to be relevant for the GC at the Tour de France,' and that hasn't happened.”   We have the full audio of Adams on Froome.ALSO...Movistar boss Eusebio Unzue tells us that the Spanish team is aiming to rekindle its great days of the past by partnering with a new secondary sponsor from 2024, which will boost their budget to the extent that they should be able to compete on a more level footing with the dominant Grand Tour teams. Unzue also touches on the heavily rumoured signing of Ineos Grenadier Carlos Rodríguez, saying he'd love to have the hugely talented young Spaniard in Movistar's ranks. Could there be a new "tridente"?We get a Danish perspective on Tour de France yellow jersey and defending champion Jonas Vingegaard from former racer Michael Rasmussen. Now a member of the Tour's press pack, Rasmussen offers an insight into Vingegaard's personality and roots. He also says that this Tour is threatening to swing away from the Jumbo-Visma rider because there appears to be no terrain ahead where he can gain time on arch-rival Tadej Pogačar, and that the pendulum is swinging the Slovene's way.We also get an insight into the Jumbo-Visma team from their former star Tom Dumoulin. He tells us that that the Dutch outfit must keep faith in their tactical approach and suggests too that they would struggle to win the Tour if Wout van Aert did actually have to leave the race to attend the birth of his second child, as the Belgian was incorrectly rumoured to be doing just a couple of days ago.  And finally, in our Coffee Beans round-up of news and gossip...- Tom Pidcock can podium, Ellingworth tells us- Bora heavily linked with a sprinter - but it's not Wout van Aert!- Mark Renshaw says it's too early to know whether Cav will return  - ASO staff unhappy with the Tour mascot  Support the show

Kilometre 0 Richie and Chris kicks off a seven-part mini series focusing on the 2013 Tour de France. To mark the 100th edition of the race, the Tour headed to Corsica for the grand départ. Lionel Birnie spoke to former teammates Chris Froome and Richie Porte about the race. Froome led Team Sky for the first time having been runner-up to Bradley Wiggins the previous year. Wiggins was somewhat controversially – although perhaps not surprisingly – left out of the line-up a few weeks before the start. There was drama from the start. On day one Froome crashed in the neutralised zone before the race had even started, then the Orica-GreenEdge team bus got stuck under the finish line gantry, almost bringing the entire Tour to a standstill. Froome laid down the gauntlet in the Pyrenees when, for 24 hours, everything looked to be going Sky's way. Then there was a date with Mont Ventoux, a double-ascent of Alpe d'Huez and some nervous moments in the final few days. The rest of the series The 100th Tour, 10 years On is the story of that 2013 race as told by The Cycling Podcast. We've delved into our archive to revisit the first Tour the podcast covered. The remaining six episodes will be released for Friends of the Podcast subscribers from Tuesday to Thursday. Our Kilometre 0 series for the 2023 Tour de France will be available to Friends of the Podcast subscribers. Sign up at thecyclingpodcast.com. While Ineos teenager Josh Tarling was expected to be among the medallists in the British TT championship, his victory by more than a minute over his rivals did cause a stir. We speak to his former coach Stuart Blunt about the 19-year-old Welshman, who Blunt describes as a "British Filippo Ganna".We've got a Jumbo-Visma double, starting with the latest from team manager Richard Plugge on the Dutch team's search for a new lead sponsor. Plugge refuses to confirm press rumours of discussions with Saudi enterprise Neom City, but says there's been global interest in backing the team that features Jonas Vingegaard, Wout van Aert and Primož Roglič and that he's confident a deal will soon be concluded.Underlining their long-term commitment to the sport, Jumbo-Visma have also been busy in the transfer market. We reveal the latest on their rumoured deal with Ineos GC prospect Ben Tulett, and we speak to their head of development Robert de Groot about their newly announced signing of three British 17 year olds to their development team, as squad that's designed to keep them competitive but at relatively low cost. The Giro Donne is on! After months of uncertainty and discord between the race's owner and its organiser, a compromise has been reached over the running of the second women's Grand Tour of the season. We examine the reasons for the dispute that left the Italian race looking into the abyss. Every year there's a major Tour non-selection story and this year's has featured four-time champion Chris Froome, who has been passed over by his Israel-PremierTech team. We look at what was behind that decision and at what's next for Froome, whose immediate racing future is decidedly uncertain.Support the show

Bradley Wiggins and Matt Stephens return to discuss Stage 12 of the Tour de France on the latest episode of the Bradley Wiggins Show. There's praise for Tom Pidcock whose “almost superhuman” performance left Matt on the verge of tears after he became the youngest ever winner on Alpe d'Huez. The 22-year-old became the second British winner – after Geraint Thomas - on the iconic col and Wiggins has tipped the Yorkshireman as a winner of the Tour de France in the future. The 2012 winner thinks that the Tour de France suits him best of all the Grand Tours. There is also praise for the new environment on show at his team Ineos under the guidance of Steve Cummings and Rod Ellingworth. Arguably, though, the story of the day was Chris Froome's return to form with a third-placed finish. Wiggins says it is testament to his resilience and perseverance to return to world-class form following three years of rehabilitation. The Bradley Wiggins Show is edited by Chris Watts.Produced by Pete Burton. This week's episode is sponsored by Whoop. This year, Whoop is providing rider data from the race, including heart rate data during the stages and sleep data after them. Hugh Carthy (EF Education-EastPost), for instance, only got 5.5 hours of sleep on the big transfer day from Hungary to Sicily, according to Whoop. The Giro d'Italia is reaching its mountainous conclusion, and team Ineos looks primed to win the Maglia Rosa with Richard Carapaz. A victory would bring Ineos its fourth Giro win in five years. Why does the team and its "Froome train" strategy still work in Italy, while it falters in France and Spain? On today's episode we dive into this big question, and explore what a top Giro finish would mean for the three men in the hunt for the final podium: Carapaz, Jai Hindley, and Mikel Landa. Then, the U.S. cycling scene is still reeling from the murder of gravel star Moriah Wilson. We discuss the gravity of this story, and why it now occupies its own tragic realm in the history of pro bike racing.

Four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome joined his Israel Start-Up Nation teammates for a weeklong camp in Israel to bond, visit historical sites, and connect with Israeli cycling fans. VeloNews European Senior Editor Andrew Hood spent the week with the team, and on this podcast he talks with Froome about his experience with technology for performance, recovery, and personal investment. Isreali-Canadian billionaire and philanthropist Sylvain Adams is the team owner of Israel Start-Up Nation, and he orchestrated the riders' visits to places like the Wailing Wall, the Holocaust Museum, the Dead Sea, and a hospital that is using hyperbaric oxygen chambers. "We have had a few physical sessions like running and riding, which is good for bonding. And we are getting to know the country, which is bringing us together," Froome said. "Being part of Team Sky previously, a big goal for team was to inspire the British public, and have an impact on grassroots cycling," Froome said. "Sylvan has got a very similar vision for ISN for us to have a similar impact on the Israeli public, and the next up and coming generation of Israeli cycling." On one ride, the team met up with a bunch of fans on the road, and the size of the crowd was startling, Froome said. "That day we got out to meet all the fans, that was just mental," he said. "I didn't expect so many bike enthusiasts here in Israel, but there are just masses of them." Froome also talks about his experience using a hyperbaric chamber for recovery from his big crash. He said he was spending as much as four hours a day in a chamber at home, which simulated being 10-15m below sea level. "It was a big part of my rehab, so it was fascinating to see it [in an Israeli hospital] for therapeutic use and sports performance," he said. Lastly, Froome talks with Hood about his investments in Hammerhead, Super Sapiens, and Factor. "I love my equipment, I love my tech," he said.
