Prophetic guidance, properly understood, is a strategic asset that will allow BYU to do things unique in all of higher education. Ronald A. Rasband, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, delivered this university conference address on August 26, 2024. Elder Rasband's talk is all about the power of words - the Lord's words, the words of the prophets, and our own words. “Unfortunately, words can be thoughtless, hasty, and hurtful. Once said, we cannot take them back. They can wound, punish, cut down, and even lead to destructive actions. They can weigh heavily on us. On the other hand, words can celebrate victory, be hopeful and encouraging. They can prompt us to rethink, reboot, and redirect our course. Words can open our minds to truth.” How do the words around you - that you read, hear, or say - impact your daily life? “Our words can be supportive or angry, joyful or mean, compassionate or tossed aside. In the heat of the moment, words can sting and sink painfully deep into the soul—and stay there. Our words on the internet, texting, social media, or tweets take on a life of their own. So be careful what you say and how you say it. In our families, especially with husbands, wives, and children, our words can bring us together or drive a wedge between us.” How can you watch your words in order to impact those around you in a positive way? This month was filled with celebrations, and also many "firsts". During the first year after a loved one dies, you experience the holidays and celebrations for the first time without them, and it can be so painful. I've struggled a lot this month, and my tears flow daily. But as I have reflected on the memories each "first" presented, I'm seeing the miracles we've experienced along the way. Ronald A. Rasband reminds us that miracles are a lifeline from heaven to earth. And I believe that 100%. As I have been finding and reflecting upon my own miracles, the sorrow has become less heavy. When we seek for our miracles, with even just a tiny particle of faith, God will show them to us. To connect with Angela AdamsShoot me an email: adamsangela707@gmail.com
One of the most important aspects of covenant relationship is love. That prompted the title of this study––Evidences of God's Love: A study of Section 109. We will pair this scripture study with the messages from conference that will help us to learn important truths from both modern and ancient prophets as we study these covenant verses.

"Our hearts were drawn to the call of a prophet this April 2023 conference weekend. He reminded us that the easiest way to identify a follower of Christ is how compassionately that person treats other people. He told us that charity is the principal characteristic of a true follower of Christ, how charity defines a peacemaker. He promised us that if we would follow his counsel, we would arise as a spiritually strong woman of Christ. And then he told us the best is yet to come for those who spend their lives building up others. The prophet invited us to examine our discipleship, to make adjustments so that our behavior would be representative of a true follower of Jesus Christ. To live and interact with others in a higher, holier way. “I invite you to remember Jesus Christ. Pray to have the courage and wisdom to say or do what He would.” For the next six months, we plan to accept this invitation. In April and May, we will learn to UNDERSTAND HIS LOVE as we study the life and attributes of the PEACE GIVER. In June and July, we will study how to FEEL HIS LOVE as we find ways to experience PERSONAL PEACE. In August and September, we will discover how to SHARE HIS LOVE as we learn how to become PEACEMAKERS.Love gives second chances. Love asks, How can I help? Love is the welcoming in. Love doesn't stand higher, but meets people where they are. Love is never too good for someone. Love is full of grace. Love does not call attention to self. Love has an understanding heart. Love assumes the best. Love will not stand for injustice, helps carry the burden, creates trust, has high hopes and expectations. Love doesn't leave when things get tough.Love never fails. We look forward to spending the next six months with you!"

Elder Rasband's powerful testimony of religious freedom fills his talk “To Heal the World.” Here are some questions to consider as you study: Are we allowing ourselves, members of our families and congregations, and all of God's children “the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of [their] own conscience?” Are we treating others as if God loves them as much as He loves us? Are we viewing the world with an “us vs. them” mentality? How can we stop? What is the Lord telling you? What questions do you want to study further? Questions? And I wonder, “am I prepared for that day?” And there’s a part of me that believes it would be wrong and prideful to answer that question by saying, “Yes, I’m prepared right now to enter God’s presence with clean hands and a pure heart.” Why the doubt? What can we do right now that would increase our confidence in this area?
