Pack your bags and grab your passport - we're going to Zamunda! In this week's episode we discuss Coming 2 America, which may have more appropriately been named Coming to Zamunda. We kick off with our overall reactions. We then break down our thoughts about the things we liked, the things we didn't know how to feel about, and the things we didn't like about the film. Next, we discuss the new casting additions to the film. We loved Wesley Snipes chewing up scenes as General Izzi. We speculate about what the sequel would look like with Ryan Cooler at the helm, which leads to a very passionate plea from Jocelyn for fan casters to broaden their horizons when developing dream casts for movies. We salute the film's MVPs - Leslie Jones was a standout and the image of her wafting her "special scent" over a pumpkin spice candle will remain with us forever. It was no surprise the the costumes were immaculate thanks to Ruth E. Carter. With the exception of a questionable wig on Jermaine Fowler early in the film, we LOVED the work of hair department co-heads Carla Farmer and Stacey Morris. It wouldn't be us if we didn't get thirsty, so of course we discuss our crushes from the Coming 2 America cast. We close out by discussing whether we would be up for more movies featuring Zamunda's royal family.Join us next time as we revisit Coming to America (the original) and examine whether the film still holds up. The Context of White Supremacy offers a concise word on Sylvester Stallone's juggernaut entertainment franchise, Rocky. Astoundingly, after nearly fifty years the "Italian Stallion" Rocky Balboa continues to pummel the box office with low quality films and a cartoonish rendition of boxing. Creed - directed by Ryan Cooler and starring Michael B. Jordan, was released this month and features a geriatric Rocky training Apollo Creed's illegitimate black son - black people gotta be derelict and misbegotten. We've discussed the importance of this franchise with a myriad of different guests over the years: Dr. Martin Kevorkian, Dr. John Hoberman and Khalid J. Patterson. White and non-white guests have deconstructed how these flicks were conceived to boost sagging White moral caused by the dominance of black athletes like Muhammad Ali, Serena Williams, Tiger Woods, Gabrielle Douglas and LeBron James. They didn't get to see Floyd Mayweather lose, but they still got Rocky. We'll revisit Mr. Neely Fuller Jr's commentary on the context of the first Rocky release in 1976. #AnswersForMiriamCarey INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/GusTRenegade CALL IN NUMBER: 641.715.3640 CODE 564943# The C.O.W.S. archives: http://tiny.cc/76f6p

“You’re not a Senator, you’re an honorary stooge." It’s rare to find a film from 75 years ago that feels relevant still in today’s world, but Frank Capra’s 1939 “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” is one of those films. Corruption in the Senate? Check. Corporate interests secretly working their own machinations behind the scenes to get their political puppets to do their bidding? Check. Cynical office staff who are only interested in making a buck? Check. Sad to say that the only thing that doesn’t feel modern is that a politician like James Stewart’s titular character could actually exist. Or at least survive in today’s political world. Join us — Pete Wright and Andy Nelson — as we continue with our great films from 1939 series with Capra’s fantastic film “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.” We talk about how much we love this film and why, highlighting everything aforementioned. We chat about Stewart and Jean Arthur as the perfect leads for this film, aided by the wonderful supporting cast including Edward Arnold, Harry Carey, Claude Rains, Thomas Mitchell and more. We discuss how the Washington, D.C. press and the real Senators received the film compared with the general public. And we discuss the people behind the cameras with Capra and what they bring to the table — Joseph Walker, Lionel Banks, Dimitri Tiomkin, Sidney Buchman, Lewis R. Foster and more. It’s a top notch film that still speaks to its audiences, all while avoiding being cheesy while full of honesty. We love it. Make sure you watch this one and then tune in!
