Do you have a plan for sober success this holiday season? We know that preparation is the key to success in all things and this time of year is no exception. Heather Lowe shares some amazing insight into how to manage work environments as well as family situations where drinking is a main event. The facts are 1/3 of the population doesn't want at all but we are put in situations when we feel pressure to drink. So asking for them to provide alcohol free options that aren't simply soda or water can be very supportive. Heather challenges all of us on a long term recovery journey to speak up if we can about having options that allow us to feel comfortable. We also share about incorporating boundaries so you can have a more joy filled season doing the things the way you want to. Making a plan ahead of time for what events you will attend, how long you will stay and who will go with you.Tuning in and doing what's right for you whether or not anyone agrees is important. Casey McGuire Davidson grew up moving around the globe with parents that worked as US diplomats. While it provided some amazing experiences it also planted the seed that she needed to be constantly performing at a high level. Being the child of important people made it feel like she couldn't mess up.  As an adult she led a high achieving life in the corporate world and the hypervigilance from childhood continued. She found that drinking helped her deal. She was basically having a bottle of wine or more 365 days a year and was oblivious to the effects of her drinking. The signs were her 3am wakeups that she treated with Ambien and anti-anxiety medication which were actually symptoms of alcohol withdrawal. When getting pregnant with her first child, she stopped drinking and things felt like they had gotten better so the behavior moved back to the same place it had been before. It wasn't until her daughter was 2 and her son was 8 before she finally found recovery and even did so while navigating a stressful corporate job. Today Casey's a Certified Professional Life and Sobriety Coach, the creator of The Free 30-Day Guide to Quitting Drinking and the host of the top rated Hello Someday Podcast, the podcast for busy women ready to drink less + live more. Casey specializes in working with women with full calendars and overflowing to-do lists, who are doing all the things and then coming home and drinking to forget about all the things.Episode ResourcesHello Someday Coaching |hellosomedaycoaching.comConnect with CaseyInstagram |  @caseymdavidsonFacebook | @hellosomedayConnect with The Courage to ChangePodcast Website |lionrock.life/couragetochangepodcastPodcast Instagram |@couragetochange_podcastYouTube |The Courage to Change PodcastTikTok |@ashleyloebblassingamePodcast Email |podcast@lionrock.lifePodcast Facebook |@thecouragetochangepodcast

How did getting a coach help her? Why is it a mistake to not ask for help? We talk about what she's learned along the way and more. We also talk about questions and topics including: What were your adjustments career wise? Letting life create her instead of creating her life? Tell us about the book — why did you write it? What is “negative self talk” and why is it so common in our heads? What's your “gremlin”? Do we all have one? How can we recognize doubts and negative self talk? At what point are doubts helpful (in terms of being cautious about something – maybe avoiding mistakes) and when do doubts get in the way? What is your “dream life” and are you making progress on that, Rachell? She specialises in mindset and recovery coaching, focusing on the impact that trauma and mental wellbeing have on problematic alcohol use. It was reading Mandy and Kates's brilliant book, Love yourself Sober, that inspired me to ditch drinking over the past five months. I'm aware that I say this from a place of privilege as being addicted to alcohol is a whole other ball game. But I share this because my physical and mental health has benefited massively from not drinking, and so perhaps this period of sobriety may last much longer than I previously planned. This is a searingly honest conversation where Mandy talks about: Drinking in the 90s ‘Ladette' cultureHow alcohol helped her navigate moving to France and motherhood Her own moments of burnout and what she now does to support herselfWhy alcohol is addictive as a stimulant and a depressant How alcohol often helps women connect with themselves and who they were before they became mothersWhy sobriety is a rebellious act in todays worldThe cost of alcohol on your health, not just your walletHow problematic drinking lies on a spectrumFollow Mandy on InstagramFind out more about Mandy's work and coaching Follow Love Sober on InstagramDiscover more about the Love Sober podcast, courses and communityCheck out the brilliant book Love Yourself Sober: A self-care guide to alcohol-free living for busy mothers by Mandy Manners and Kate BailyFancy a little more burnout chat? "We're staking our claim on a better way"Today I talked with Chelsea Skaggs, creator of Postpartum Together, about her journey into motherhood, in all it's realness: the battles she fought against her body, the bumps in the road to redefine her marriage, and the struggle to shed the "Pinterest perfect" expectations to become the parent she wants to be. After her first postpartum experience left her feeling empty and lost, she decided to "nerd out" on all things postpartum, hoping she could find a way to create a better experience for herself, and other struggling moms, the next time around. She developed a coaching program called Postpartum Together, where a big focus is helping moms look internally instead of externally for some of the answers on how to care for themselves and their family. She helps parents identify and prioritize their family values -  how do we decide what stays and what goes? how do we communicate what our root needs are? - and guides and supports them through the often messy process. Her big message for moms: you don't have all the energy in the world, so spend it being present on what matters to you. You don't have to impress anyone, and honestly, anyone you're going to impress is going to forget about it in like 10 sec. So DO YOU, do YOUR family values. He's a recent connection of mine, but a dear connection I'm grateful to have made, nonetheless. Listen in on this powerful conversation I had with Dale (in studio!) about transformational leadership, what it means, and how it changes your life and the lives of those around you. More About Dale: Dale's passion is to help business leaders live with heart, integrity, and significance.   Dale's diverse background began in the technology world with a BS degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin. After several years of technical work, he progressed into management, then consulting, then leading consultants, and finally executive management, at companies from startups to multi-nationals. Becoming a born-again believer mid-way through that journey and being mentored by a business executive, Dale saw the integration of faith and work as an inspired and necessary goal. The meteoric rise of a technology startup where Dale was the Executive Vice President in the early 2000's brought success for a while, but the equally spectacular implosion due to poor team dynamics sent Dale on a quest to understand teamwork and leadership. Dale has read, studied, and trained with the best. Dale was able to put that training to good use a few years later when he sold a multi-million dollar Managed Services engagement at a large energy company, displacing the entrenched incumbent. Dale built the team, which has been in place for over a decade even though Dale has not been involved with them for several years. While this story was unfolding, Dale has served in the church as a life group leader, study group facilitator, deacon, and head usher. Dale has also served on mission trips to Costa Rica and on various boards and committees. In early 2011, Dale started bringing these somewhat separate faith/work threads closer together by becoming a Certified Professional Life (2013) and Leadership (2016) Coach through the Professional Christian Coaching Institute (PCCI). Since mid-2011, Dale has been coaching business leaders around issues of heart, integrity, and significance. God has given Dale the gifts, talents, insight, and experience to facilitate diverse groups of business leaders while integrating faith and work issues. Dale is single and lives in McKinney Texas, a northern suburb of Dallas. For more information on Dale's coaching and access to special discounts, visit coachdale.com/brian.
