After witches and werewolves, what else could we talk about next than zombies? In this case, natural zombie spiders created by the sting of a parasitic Tarantula Hawk wasp, or zombie ants that have been infected by the fungus Ophiocordyceps unilateralis. And yes, somehow The Walking Dead and The Last of Us shamble into the discussion, although regarding the latter, Allen explains why cordyceps probably couldn't survive in a human host. Next up, we look at the connection between black cats and the holiday. Hannah brings up the traditions of cats as “Witch's Familiars” and shapeshifters, and Chuck reminds us of the moment when we saw a cat transform into Professor McGonagall in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. You'll hear about how STS-13, which was slated to be the thirteenth mission of the Space Shuttle, was renamed STS-41-C, in an attempt to avoid any superstition or reminder of the ill-fated Apollo 13. There was an alternate mission patch that featured an illustration of the shuttle landing under a giant black cat, referencing the mission's original designation, STS-13; and that the day the mission returned was April 13, 1984, which was a Friday the 13th. Speaking of space, Hannah asks Chuck about the concept of “The Great Galactic Ghoul,” the fictitious space monster blamed for the failure of nearly every probe sent to Mars by the Soviet Union, Japan, and even NASA between 1988 and 1999. Out of 10 missions, only 2 US probes landed successfully on the Red Planet. Since then, while the Ghoul did claim a few more victims including two missions by the UK, it seems to have gone into hiding, since the US has had multiple successful missions, as has China with their Tianwen lander and Zhurong rover, India, Russia, the European Space Agency, and the UAE. Finally, to end our special HaLIUween episode, Chuck brings up Albert Einstein's term, “Spooky Action at a Distance,” which he coined derisively to describe the physics concept known as quantum entanglement that he dismissed but has since been proven to exist. The siege of Drose is fully underway, and the party is scattered across the city. The Draegloth are sources of fear and shock as they pass through Drose and its citizens. Glad heads back to the inn and lets Arguile and Salix know to send people her way for safety, rest, and healing.  Arguile and Salix agree and make their way through the city, taking out many of these creatures along the way. Arguile uses his Guardian's Rapier and Salix using their Druidic wild shape ability to get the job done. Galahad works with the city guard to eliminate the threats and uses his animated tower shield to protect the citizens. Shanks is with Dreg, clearing out enemies with his bow, Mind's Eye, and Jrehg with a greatsword of carved bone that cleaves enemies as if paper. He wields this weapon with ease, which is impressive as it's almost the size of Galahad. On the other side of the city, Duo helps guide citizens to safety and provides “eyes in the sky” for Zechs. Hoshino, Zechs, and conjured bears help take down some of the Draegloths and help rescue the citizens who are in the path of destruction. Eric was born in Cincinnati into a family with much historical confusion and inversion. Having been told he is a biological child of the parents who raised him, a DNA test later lin life and other compelling evidence suggests that this story told to Eric may, in fact, be a lie. Son of an adopted mother and a father who was 1 of 8 children and constantly surrounded by Freemasons and other secret members, ritualistic and occult abuse was something Eric endured as a child as far back as he can remember. Eric has made some harrowing connections to his mother through her work as a nurse including possible collusion with two different serial killers, and remembers being taken to a Knights of Columbus Lodge as a child by his father. Eric believes he has been a part of a Druidic ritual throughout his life, and also believes the final intentions of his abusers are to sacrifice him in a Wickerman ritual and cannibalize him. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Although Eric is still recovering his memories, the memory recollection he has had so far has led to some very dark rabbit holes that he is here to talk to us about today.  And Eric still isn't free today - which is why he felt led to speak up. Eric is still being targeted today and has experienced horrific abuses even in the past few years - including 3 specific events involving hypnosis. He has been made a targeted individual and experiences gang-stalking as well as other targeting tactics that can be linked back to his family and their cult associations.
