This week, Parker Talbot is locked in and out-shilling the hosts! David and Dara kick things off without the man some call 'TonkaaaaP' as they discuss Gamble Online and Paul Seaton's excellent recent piece about poker player/embezzler Dennis Blieden. The pair then talk about David Peters' dominating performance at the US Poker Open. There is a lengthy conversation on Phil Nagy's indecent comments towards Twitch streamer 'WeePro83' and the aftermath of that incident which has seen a repentant Nagy plead for forgiveness in public. Guest of honour Parker then joins the fray to weigh in on the upcoming Hellmuth/Negreanu High Stakes Heads-up Duel. The nature of streaks, both positive and negative are discussed. On the week that the WSOP announce their live 2021 schedule, all three men consider what, if any part, they might play in the action. Topically, Dara delivers his now famous strategy nugget on live poker adjustments, before the three conclude matters with multiple shameless attempts to shill for their partners and sponsors.
I thought I knew everything there was to know about essential oils. I've been using them ever since my father, Gary Greenfield, introduced me to the incredibly powerful oil of oregano nearly 18 years ago. I quickly adopted oil of oregano as part of my health regimen—using it for everything from supporting my immune system to balancing my gut microbiome to cleaning my teeth. I've also done tons of podcasts about essential oils, including: The Wizard Of Essential Oils Strikes Again: The Hidden & Magical World Of Little-Known Plant Extracts For Digestion, Relaxation, Libido, Immunity & Much More! with Dr. Nick Berry. Everything You Need To Know About Essential Oils For Fat Loss, Performance, Smart Drugs, Scar Healing, Detoxing And More, With Dr. Sarah Lobisco. The Best Book That Exists For Learning About The Healing Power of Essential Oils And How To Use Them: Soothe Inflammation, Boost Mood, Prevent Autoimmunity & Much More, With Dr. Eric Zielinski. Psychoactive Sleep Edibles, Essential Oil Wizardry, Cosmic Orgasms & More With Dr. Nick Berry I am constantly diffusing essential oils in my bedroom and office; sniff oils like peppermint, rosemary, and cinnamon pre-workout; rub oils into the feet of my children before they go to bed at night; and basically check every box of being a full-on, card-carrying essential oil hippie. But, after recently reading the book Essential Oils to Boost the Brain and Heal the Body: 5 Steps to Calm Anxiety, Sleep Better, and Reduce Inflammation to Regain Control of Your Health by my friend Jodi Cohen, I wound up learning a host of new information and uses for essential oils I had previously been unfamiliar with. So naturally, I just had to get Jodi on my podcast. Jodi is a bestselling author, award-winning journalist, functional practitioner, and founder of Vibrant Blue Oils, where she has combined her training in nutritional therapy and aromatherapy to create unique proprietary blends of organic and wild-crafted essential oils. She has helped over 70,000 clients heal from brain-related challenges, including anxiety, insomnia, and autoimmunity. Her website, vibrantblueoils.com, is visited by over 500,000 natural health seekers every year, and she has rapidly become a top resource for essential oils education on the Internet today. Jodi believes that just as your cell phone or laptop slows down and drains the battery when too many tabs are left open, your brain fatigues when poorly functioning systems or ailments drain its energy. Complaints of brain fog, fatigue, and ADD/ADHD are on the rise and growing every year. All of these factors can block your brain's ability to detoxify and heal. If toxins are not eliminated, they recirculate in the brain, leading to inflammation, which further compromises your brain. What's more, formal diagnoses of brain-related health challenges like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and ALS are increasing exponentially. Here's her good news: Plant-based essential oils are a powerful self-care tool for transforming your life and healing on many levels, even when prescription drugs have failed. In Jodi Cohen’s five-step protocol outlined in her book, the body's natural systems are jump-started with essential oil recipe blends that can: Alleviate stress, anxiety, and depression Improve sleep Calm pain and inflammation Increase energy, sharpen focus, and improve memory Improve digestion and promote weight loss Strengthen the immune system Armed with Cohen’s five steps in her book, and this podcast, you’ll be able to start your own essential oils regimen immediately and be on your way to a healthier body and brain. Hello, pretties. You may have noticed something different around here. New name, new art, new intro . . .WELCOME TO SEASON 2.The Chryssy and Heather Show has become How To Do Life (with Chryssy and Heather).Today we will introduce you to the updated format, some new segments, and some fun sound. Don’t fret, my pets, if you loved the show before. Now, it’s just even prettier.Chryssy thought, as the lucky host who gets to introduce our changes, that she should take us for a test drive of all the segments we know. It seemed a great idea to add some new forms of fun, too, so today we take a rollick through ELEVEN different segments. From Heather’s Headlines to your new HOMEWORK assignment, your ears are on alert.Topically today, we revisit superstition. Chryssy mentions one that Heather has never heard of. Next up we talk home school and travel during the COVID-19 era.We land at a grab bag about social discord, and talk through some things that are dividing our country right now. We also talk about how to use social discord for growth rather than further division. The ladies believe this was perhaps the most prepared they have ever been for an episode. A lot of work and thought and joy went into our changes for you, and we sincerely hope you enjoy this variation of a theme you’ve come to love.Until next time. Topically, this may be the most wide-ranging episode in Pews history. Glenn and Owen begin traversing down the podcast road with discussions about May Day, Communism, “The Father of Capitalism” Adam Smith, MADD (the Mutually Assured Destruction Doctrine from the Cold War), embracing truth which does exist in the Scriptures even with how bad religion effed them up which led to the coining of the term “Post Christianity Stress Syndrome”. Then the Boys welcomed Tom Dixon, an “Ostrich Wrangler” and an Undercover Walmart Detective from Winslow, Arizona. The fellas talked about the economic impact of the Eagles song “Take It Easy on the town, a Navajo church, the 113 year old native woman there and what she has witnessed during her lifetime. A dialogue then ensues about monogamy, Tom’s affinity for it with his fiancé, the Coach’s take on traditional sexual exclusivity, the Big O’s demonstration of “edging”, what we can learn from the movie “Casino”, plus so much more ensued. It ain’t going to be boring and well worth the trip, NSFW or children. Strong Sexual Content, Language, Humor and Condemnation of Religion. A portion of all proceeds donated to combat human sex slave trafficking.
Løt.te has released two EPs on The Bunker New York label, and recently contributed a killer track to our 15 Years of The Bunker compilation. He will be joining us on Saturday, April 28th at The Bunker NY x No Sleep Novi Sad at Good Room (full info and tickets: http://thebunkerny.com/events/2018-04-28-the-bunker-x-no-sleep-novi-sad). Løt.te tells us: "Topically, the mix is inspired by the Amazon rainforest and the ‘uncontacted' peoples who still inhabit it. Technically, I was trying to merge influences from filmmaking with the patterns and techniques of a DJ mix. So you'll hear a lot of ‘cuts' in addition to smooth transitions between tracks, as well as manipulations and layering of audio to create a sense of environment, space and time. My goal was to explore new ways of making a DJ mix, and to create an evocative and transportive experience for the listener. Simone wrote a piece about how he "solved his quarter life crisis" -- link provided below. Topically the piece has overlap with a number of the conversations I've had for this show and it displayed an admirable candor: "I’ve been out of college for four years, and while my med school friends inch closer to their white coats and my finance friends inch closer to their white board meetings, I feel about as lost as ever. I’m in my third industry in as many years, my love life fluctuates between The Matterhorn and It’s A Small World, and the only time I really feel at peace is when I have 10 minutes to poop and for some reason forgot my phone in the other room. But I have found something I do care about—choosing how to orient my attention. It’s the common thread with most of the things I unconditionally love ... ... Not only is uni-tasking incredibly empowering, but it also might just be the answer to my quarter life crisis." Focusing and reorienting our attention is easier said than done. In our conversation Simone shares his still uncertain thoughts about his own path and admits it is hard to take our own medicine. Since our conversation Simone has enrolled in Stanford's journalism school and I look forward to reading more of his writing in the future. Marijuana isn’t just about getting high; this plant has been used for thousands of years in Eastern Medicine, and now research can prove the medicinal benefits of tis plant. But now science has taken it a step further. We are able to get all the benefits of weed without getting high through the use of cannabidiol (CBD). There is much confusion on this topic of CBD vs. weed. But our CBD expert James Sol Radina with BioCBD comes on the show to clear up the misinformation and help you learn about CBD. You see, cannabis is a family name that consists of the hemp plant (male part) and the marijuana plant (female). CBD is found in marijuana and hemp, as is THC. Although both CBD and THC are naturally found in cannabis plants, THC is the part that gets you high. CBD is used for medicinal purposes, without any anxiety or psychoactivity. CBD from hemp is 100% legal in all 50 states and 40+ other countries. But like everything, all CBD products are not created equal. Some CBD oils have poor bioavailability, with only 5-10% of the CBD actually being used in your body. But CBD products like BioCBD are 100% bioavailable and are free from chemical additives. BioCBD products are naturally extracted from the hemp plant using curcumin, one of the world’s most powerful compounds on the planet. In this episode, Dr. Zyrowski & James discuss the benefits of CBD extracts and CBD oils for everything from athletic recovery, sports performance, sleeping, pain, stress, anxiety, neurological disorders, and even cancer. They review just a few of the thousands of CBD healing stories, including Little Lance. He’s been 3 years bout free from his Chron’s disease thanks to CBD. James also reveals three different ways to utilize CBD and when to use each. In this episode: What is CBD? What is THC? Why using cannabidiol does NOT make you high The 100% legal way to get all the health benefits of weed without marijuana What CBD really is and isn’t Is CBD right for you? The amazing therapeutic benefits CBD Best way to use cannabidiol: Topically vs. Capsules vs. Vape Pens How to get CBD that is 100% bioavailable What is the difference between Hemp & Marijuana? Listen Up! Iiiiiiit's Revengecast, the only show people on the internet are calling Very Interesting Coz It'sLit (...aka, V.I.C.I.!) Why, you ask? Well I don't know, because maybe like WHAT OTHER PODCAST on the internet is currently hitting you with this hard humor about how rich people have sex on top of Ronald Regan's dead body?? Not 99% Invisible, that's for damn sure! HOLY CRAP, THERE'S SO MUCH HEAT IN THIS EPISODE THE HAMPTONS ARE PRACTICALLY ON FIRE. Which makes sense, because it takes place in the middle of the summer! But we're also talking in the allegorical sense, like how Danny's little Danny (or: Lil' Danno) is going buck wild over renewed opportunity to have much sex with a poor woman whose life (and spine) he recently ruined. Topically, Victoria is also heating up, and I don't mean menopause! I mean the heat where she's like "My master plan absolutely requires this poor girl from the wrong side of the tracks fucks my dumb son." Wow Vickers, growing up as a robot in an upper-middle class inventor's closet didn't do you no ethical favors, huh?? Also it's gross to have a wedding shower where people come out and thank a rich guy for breaking their ankles during sports, there I said it! But look, whatever might happen in this episode (and a great deal of it centers around 3x3 tiled mock-ups of internet shopping that'd be more at home on a late-90s Saturday afternoon Sci-Fi Original Pictures movie), nothing is more important than the climax we basically started Revengecast for, and I could tell you about it, but you know what they say, a picture is worth like a whole shitload of words. So let's post said picture and I'll leave this summary at that: ... ....... ........... .................... WAIT NO I WON'T. Because, finally, we have the ever-present (albeit fairly lukewarm) metaphysical heat of Margaux "The Margaux" LeMargaux popping the collar of her Investigative Trenchcoat and delving into the bowels of things thing that is apparently a case and/or scandal to meet in secret(cy???) with the only person who's got a pair of she-wolf balls big enough to blow this whole town wide open!! (also I know Zoolandia isn't by Pixar now but it's kinda six of one for me so stay outta my mentions about it; honestly I'm more embarrassed I got the 48 Rules of Power wrong)
In the second episode of Wolfmania The Podcast Andrew and Tim open up their Encyclopedia of Everything at the letter 'A'. Well, where else do you start? Topically (sort of topically) the team discuss getting excited, ill and bankrupt in America: terror on the subway, horror at the ball game, and the little-known Mr Robot tourist market. Andrew explains why his burgeoning career as an astronaut failed to launch, and finds out who Tim Peake's favourite grime artist is while our Tim tries to prove that he is more yoga master than Jagermeister by working out with his favourite internet celebrity. Plus! Fun! Games! Arty bits! And music courtesy of the Wolfpack of One 'classic' The Fifteen Greatest Things I Found In The Woods (it's sort of relevant to the bit about America - you'll see).
Freshly returned from their trip to Cooperstown, NY for the Belgium Comes to Cooperstown festival at Ommegang Brewery, the hosts reminisce on their recent adventures. Topically, they are tasting Ommegang brews as they do, including Hennepin, Rare Vos, Rosetta, and the exquisite Three Philosophers. Regarding the festival, the hosts comment on their drinking strategies, their camping strategies, their food strategies, and of course, on the beer. They close out the episode by talking about their favorite brews at BCTC, a difficult task considering the almost overwhelming amount of good beer they encountered in Cooperstown.
Jen made what she believes, and I can’t argue, the most perfect drunk purchase she’s ever made. She made it because simply couldn’t handle my shoe-wearing around the house combined with a confusing refusal to get slippers. So, she ordered Keen slipper shoes for me. They are wonderful and, indeed, perfect. I don’t know how I walked around my house without them for so many years. Oh, and then there’s Bob’s old clothes. My gym-friend, Bob, who also works for Nordstrom and has been in sales for many years, gave me a load of designer clothes that no longer fit him as well as 3 new scents. I’d apparently been running around the house like a fashion-show model, changing outfits regularly. During this podcast, I settled on a new jersey-knit hoodie, a suede shirt/jacket, cargo shorts, patterned socks, and the Keens. Jen claims I’m Dapper AND comfy. Domfy. Bob is my fragrance pimp, and I am his cologne ho. I’m his ride or die bitch for life. You feel me? Know’m’sayin’, homie? But I digress. We began the evening with our old-faithfuls, Lagunitas Hop Stoopid (Jen) and Imperial Pils (Greg), and then continued forward with Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA (Jen, 9% abv) and Troegs Le Grave (Greg 8% abv). Topically, we span the following: We love the new season of the Walking Dead. We lament the learning of negative shit about iconic people who we’ve generally loved and held in high esteem. (e.g. Jen learned more about Ghandi than she ever wanted to know. I found out about Bob Marley’s parenting and husbanding challenges.) Do dogs have areola? (No, but the definition of areola is broader than perhaps you’d imagine.) When will we have our animal communication session with Karen Anderson? Fun, huh? Yep. Anyway, we present to you, “Do Dogs Have Areola?” The closing music should bring you great joy. Winter is coming. -G (Source: PandaWhale)
This week, Pollyne may or may not still be drunk. You make the call. Topically, they talk about all sorts of stuff, including how pathetic Robin Thicke is, Long distance relationships and the movies they'd like to make.
Col. Mark "Puck" Mykleby is a former marine and co-author (along with Capt. Wayne Porter) of A National Strategic Narrative for the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, a document that encouraged broadening the concept of defense to include sustainability. Currently Mark is a Senior Fellow at the New America Foundation, a nonpartisan policy institute dedicated to questions about the American future. We learned about Mark through our 41st interviewee, John Fullerton. There are a lot of ideas packed into this episode: America as an organism in a strategic ecology, sustainability as national narrative that succeeds containment, and the broadening of sustainability to include everything from an engaged populace to new metrics for growth. Mark also talks about America's lack of a society-wide conversation about the future and the difference between being a resident and being a citizen. Topically, there are connections to Laura Musikanski's work at the Happiness Initative, David Korten's new myth, and John Fullerton's financial thinking. You'll also want to ponder the connection between Mark and Lawrence Torcello. Is Classical Liberalism the best path to achieving conversation?
Our heroes dive further into the darkness, with deadly and maddening results. Topically, something is not quite right with this beef. Will M as Keeper of Arcane Lore Stephen as Barry Zbigniew, police officer with a strong interest in self-preservation. Will B as Agent Harper Winslow, dedicated to following leads and solving crimes. The actions of glycine, GABA, α-alanine, β-alanine and taurine were studied by intracellular recordings from lumbar motoneurons of the isolated spinal cord of the frog. All amino acids tested produced a reduction in the amplitude of postsynaptic potentials, a blockade of the antidromic action potential and an increase of membrane conductance. Furthermore, membrane polarizations occurred, which were always in the same direction as the IPSP. All these effects indicate a postsynaptic inhibitory action of these amino acids. When the relative strength of different amino acids was compared, taurine had the strongest inhibitory potency, followed by β-alanine, α α-alanine, GABA and glycine. Topically applied strychnine and picrotoxin induced different changes of postsynaptic potentials, indicating that distinct inhibitory systems might be influenced by these two convulsants. Interactions with amino acids showed that picrotoxin selectively diminished the postsynaptic actions of GABA, while strychnine reduced the effects of taurine, glycine, α- and β-alanine. But differences in the susceptibility of these amino acid actions to strychnine could be detected: the action of taurine was more sensitively blocked by strychnine compared with glycine, α- and β-alanine. With regard to these results the importance of taurine and GABA as transmitters of postsynaptic inhibition on motoneurons in the spinal cord of the frog is discussed.
