"One of the things that we do best across all of our product categories is talk to niche audiences.” – Josslynne Welch, President at Litzky Public Relations Public relations is a fast-moving industry, yet today's guest has successfully stayed ahead of the news cycle for close to three decades. Meet Josslynne Welch; Today, she sits at the helm of the communications agency Litzky Public Relations, a company she joined some 26 years ago. The agency specializes in toy companies, publishing, and entertainment, and runs with a small 15-person team that comprises account, strategy, and creative services. And, according to Josslynne, it's their nimbleness that allows LPR to execute fast to connect the dots between culture, trends, and their clients. In essence, what sets LPR apart is their deep specialization in their industry, how they show up through initiatives like The Love Litzky Grant, and their policy of running a tight ship. They only work with the right fit, both vertically, and personality-wise. Together, Corey and Josslynne cover topics like culture building and retention, keeping your teams motivated, hiring for specialty versus skills, the importance of peer perspectives in agency leadership, and more. Here's what we cover in this episode: - Josslynne's three decades running a PR agency. - Verticalization and expansion of your existing niche. - PR best practices from strategy to tactics. - Leadership lessons from culture to team retention and giving back. Here are some actionable key takeaways for agency founders: - A niche focus doesn't mean dull; Seek variety within your area of specialization. - Be opportunistic about trends in your niche to shape the news. - Leadership can be lonely, make sure to tap into peer networks to connect with fellow agency leaders. - You can't fake caring. He discusses the unexpected benefits of growing up immersed in the pre-Silicon Valley engineer culture, gaining early access to creative tech tools through his parents' restaurant connections. Chu conveys his love of telling fairy tale stories grounded in reality, like revealing the genuine talent and journey behind Justin Bieber's pop image in Never Say Never. The National Toy Hall of Fame has inducted their finalist this year, but Jovial Jay and Shua pick their choices for the Enjoy Stufftopia Discontinued Toy Hall of Fame on Enjoy Stuff!   We think there are some pretty cool toys that you don't see anymore that deserve their place in a museum. Join us as we pick our favorites for the Discontinued Toy Hall of Fame.    News The Hall and Oates legal drama continues Marty Krofft, co-creator of some of our wacky childhood entertainment has died at 86 Waffles? Coffee Mate? Sure, why not? We found a cool spin on Back to the Future in a comic book from a few years ago Flies? Where? You'll just have to listen to find out.    Check out our TeePublic store for some enjoyable swag and all the latest fashion trends What we're Enjoying Shua has been enjoying a new novel by John Scalzi called Starter Villain. This one is also narrated by Will Wheaton and tells the story of an man who unexpectedly inherits his uncle's super villain company. Sound weird? Weird enough to check out for sure! Jovial Jay revisited the 1981 Ray Harryhausen classic Clash of the Titans. It was a groundbreaking movie in a lot of ways and a fun watch today.   Sci-Fi Saturdays This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay looks back at the 2000 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger called The 6th Day. Arnold is faced with a clone of himself and all the discomfort that would present. Though it was very en Vogue to feature our nearest planetary neighbor back then, this one may not have entirely hit the mark. The story is a little spoon-fed, but entertaining nonetheless. Check out his article to see why. He has also been updating locations from Marvel TV and movies, including the Loki series. Play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to  SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua break down each episode of the Hawkeye series and more.     Enjoy Toys!  It's the time of year when the National Toy Museum picks their Hall of Fame finalists. Once again, some iconic toys have made it into the mix. They even picked one from the Forgotten Five; a group of toys that never seem to quite make it. But here at Enjoy Stuff we believe there are some toys that are no longer around, but also deserve their moment in the spotlight. So we have set up a Discontinued Toy Hall of Fame in our town of EnjoyStufftopia. JovialJay and Shua pick some of their favorite toys from their youth that they would love to see on display.   Do you have a toy that would fit in our Hall of Fame? First person that emails me with the subject line, “It belongs in a museum” will get a special mention on the show.  Let us know. Clothing company Balenciaga recently published a series of ad-images featuring children with BDSM stuffed animals, leashes, collars, caution tape, candles, wine glasses and rainbows. The implications were clear; drugged out or drunk children, bound, and prepared as gifts. In fact, the original press release for the ad says photographer Gabriele Galimberti's work was part of a series called TOY STORIES, or an exploration into what people collect and receive as gifts. Galimberti said he was only hired to shoot and had no say in the direction of the shoot. Balenciaga likewise claims innocence, even filing a $25 million suit against the production company North Six and set designer Nicholas De Jardins. After apologizing and pulling down the bondage, torture, and rape ad, the company then replaced it with an ad that had even darker undertones. A woman with a hand bag sitting at a desk seems harmless enough, but books on the desk imply something more; a copy of Michaël Borremans' work and a copy Matthew Barny's work. Borremans is a BELGIUM artist known for his paintings depicting cannibalism, tortured children, figures in dark robes, bloody rituals, and pedophilia. Barny's work is more scientific in that his Cremaster Cycle films and art are reference to the cremaster muscle which regulates the testis, sperm, etc. The original Balenciaga ad-campaign also featured underneath of a hand bag a copy of Ashcroft vs. Free Speech Coalition, a SCOTUS decision making simulated child pornography legal. The use of teddy bears in bondage gear and the dazed big-eyed looks of the children shares a relationship with Fashion Nova advertisements from 2020 when that company promoted small children - three years old - dressed like adults. They worse sunglasses to cover their bruised eyes and one wore a panda purse, yet another reference to ‘teddy bear' eyes, i.e., large dilated pupils, and ‘panda eyes', i.e., the use of dark makeup that runs during sexual activity. It should be no surprise that the demon-spirit Ba'al, god of covenant, is akin to YHWH, who demanded human sacrifice, particularly or children.

But unfortunately for us here at X Reader, it's some one-off trash… Maybe that's not fair, because with a middle-high approval rating from Michael and an A+ from Jordan, Ryan9187's hateful fic "Toy Story 3" might surprise you with the juice behind it's juvenile exploitative writing. One of the main reasons we started this show was to see what the wide, shallow ocean of internet fan fiction could do for the creative energy of our hosts. What ideas could be spawned and spun into stories of their own. Creativity begets creativity, And despite this fic's bad attitude, it's not lacking in inspiration.

Certain movies remind us what it's like to be a child. You have your Toy Stories and your American Tailses that always hold special places in our hearts, but then you have those other movies. The ones you only realize over time that, although you may have watched this as a child, it was only waiting like a sleeper cell for you to be an adult to reveal it's TRUE meanings. Q, Mia, and J look deep inside and confront their inner children and find the Top 5 Kids Movies That Are Secretly For Adults. This is deeper than cartoons that make poop jokes, we're looking for adult themes in movies with animated rabbits, robotic goliaths with human hearts, pretty much anything made by Pixar. You'll laugh. You'll cry. You'll call your parents and ask them for a movie night with your friends. Join us for this long-awaited sleepover!

This week on End Credits, we're back from the holiday break refreshed and ready to review new movies again, and this week it's one of the most anticipated and one of the most, dare we say, controversial. We'll review the latest Star Wars, plus we'll talk about why no one's liking Cats, the possible effects of toy company owning a studio, and some new trailers. This Wednesday, January 8, at 2 pm, Adam A. Donaldson and Tim Phillips will discuss: Cats-tastrophe. Cats, the adaptation of the popular stage musical, was supposed to be one of the biggest movie hits of the holiday season. It had an established brand name, familiar music, an Academy Award-winning director, and a very talented cast, in other words, it had everything a movie is supposed to need to become a hit, so what the heck happened? Toy Stories. Hasbro owns most of the toys you've ever heard of including Transformers, Monopoly, and Dungeons & Dragons, and now they own a studio. The Toronto-based Entertainment One is now a subsidiary of Hasbro, so does that mean EOne is going to be more concerned about pumping out G.I. Joe movies as opposed to investing in Can-con? Downhill to More Quiet is Tenet. The holidays brought many gifts, including some first looks at exciting new movies coming up in 2020. It looks like Christopher Nolan is defying the laws of time and physics again in Tenet, Emily Blunt has to hush up everyone to keep them alive in A Quiet Place Part II, and a European dramedy gets an American makeover in Downhill.   REVIEW: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). More than 42 years after it first hit theatres, the Star Wars saga has come to an end, or at least the Skywalker portion of it has. Like all Star Wars movies lately, The Rise of Skywalker has divided the audience; some think it's too safe creatively, while others have welcomed a Star Wars that better meets there expectations. But is there a middle road? Can you have your Star Wars cake and critique it too? End Credits is on CFRU 93.3 fm and cfru.ca Wednesday at 2 pm.

It lasts all month long and everything on the site is thoroughly Halloweeny!

Sidewalk Radio with Gene Kansas

The Christmas season over, we thought it'd be fitting to take a retrospective look at toys so that we may have perspective about personal enjoyment and community development as we enter the New Year. It's important to hear Toy Stories as narratives not glamorizing collective gluttony, but introspectively about their importance in the cultural food chain. But, we promise, we won't get too serious. Toys are fun after all, and for us they are the topic of this month's show, the passion of our guests. We hear from Chris Burn who is the editor of Time To Play magazine, director of Atlanta's Toys for Tots program and Chief Warren officer A.T Wilson and Maxine, a 10 year old!

Are you hungry for some comics? Are you hungry for some movies, TV, and books? Are you hungry for Hunger Games?! Then this is the gay geeky podcast for you. Bryan the Bear, Jarrod the Drawgonist, Eric the Muscle Daddy, Oral the Bitch, and the Question of Questionable Fellatio Techniques are joined by Joey and Jono from Geeks OUT for the raunchiest Flame On! show since… last episode! Movies What’s better than a movie with a half-naked lead man? A movie with a half-naked lead man on MARS! The boys give their hot and steamy thoughts on John Carter, but be sure to check out the Nerdy Show’s extended review on the big, expensive Disney movie. The Adventures of Tintin gets a (third?) review when Bryan and Oral talk about the Blu Ray release, and then we dive into The Hunger Games! If you are looking for a dedicated discussion on the year’s biggest blockbuster, then the odds surely are ever in your favor! Book Books? Between movies, TV, video games, and comics, who has time for books? The Question does! He picked up the new hit fantasy novel The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and gives his first impressions. It’s a story within a story within a story in the style of Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter! TV There’s Scarlet Bitches and then there’s GCB (Good Christian Bitches). Guess which one they made a TV show about? Bryan shares his love for Kristen Chenoweth’s latest show that allows her to be amazing. We also talk about a cool BBC America show, James May’s Toy Stories, and the news of a new Doctor Who companion! But the biggest nerd-TV premiere just hit and we dedicate a nice chunk of time to discussing Avatar: The Legend of Korra! Benders beware, the time has come for a new Avatar and we could not be more excited! Gay News One Million Homophobic Moms Target Archie Comics And Toys R Us. We couldn’t fucking believe it, either. Video Games Eric plays Fallout 3, which has nothing to do with the third time his asshole fell out. He gives his impressions, and then Bryan and the Question weigh in on Star Wars: The Old Republic and the fate of the gay guilds! WonderCon Report The Question went on another trip, this time to sunny California for WonderCon! He dishes on Battleship, Prometheus, and uncovers exactly what Marvel Infinite is! He also saw Michael Fassbender, who apparently still has massive powers of attraction! Comics We mourn the loss of Ralph McQuarrie and Jean Giraud (Moebius), two visionary, influential designers/illustrators. They will be missed but their beautiful legacy will live on. A notable indie release hits with Supercrooks by Mark Millar, while Q discovers A Waste of Time, which is about a bunny who ties up twinks! Q bought it to the podcast, so if you were wondering why Jarrod was so quiet, there’s your answer. Marvel has us itching for the release of AvX (Avengers vs. X-Men), which will decide the fate of Oral and Eric. Oops, the Scarlet Witch and Phoenix. The boys give their opinions on Carol Danvers’ new Captain Marvel outfit (yikes…) and squee with excitement over the epic finale to Jonathan Hickman’s Fantastic Four storyline! DC remakes their Captain Marvel and also serves up great issues for Batman (Dick backhand!), Wonder Woman (ugly Poseidon!), and Animal Man (badass daughter!). Plus, Swamp Thing gets wings! The studs from Geeks OUT were amazing guests (and not only because they recorded nude via webcam) and our very own Jarrod will be submitting art for their upcoming benefit Takei Back the Night. Check out geeksout.org, have a martini, take some uncouth pictures in the mirror, post them on GuysWithiPhones.com, and then settle down for a long steamy night with Flame On! http://nerdyshow.com/2012/03/flame-on-geeky-hungry-beasts/Learn more about your ad choices.
