The Ultimate TV Dad Tier List & Debate! Welcome back to the Working Perspectives Podcast! This week, we are bringing our unique fatherhood experiences to the table to debate and rank some of television's most iconic fathers. Join the crew as we tackle fatherhood through three very different lenses: Matt brings the perspective of a married dad, balancing life, marriage, and raising a son and a daughter. Bern shares his real-world insights and experiences from the point of view of a divorced dad. Liam rounds out the discussion, giving us the unfiltered reality of being a single dad. In this episode, we are building a TV Dad Tier List. We selected three legendary television fathers to break down, rank, and fiercely debate: Coach Eric Taylor (Friday Night Lights) – Does the "clear eyes, full hearts" philosophy translate to S-Tier parenting? Phil Dunphy (Modern Family) – Is his signature "peerenting" style genius or a disaster waiting to happen? Peter Griffin (Family Guy) – Exactly how low on the tier list does Quahog's most chaotic dad belong? Watch as the guys argue their cases, defend their favorite TV dads, and try to come to an agreement on where these fictional fathers truly rank. Don't forget to LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSCRIBE! Let us know in the comments: Where would YOU rank Coach Taylor, Phil Dunphy, and Peter Griffin? Who should we rank next?
Who is the ultimate TV Dad? Is it the tough-love provider, the moral compass, or the guy committing "light treason"? On this episode of the Working Perspectives Podcast, three real dads with three very different points of view sit down to build the ultimate TV Dad Tier List. Join the debate as we rank and roast three iconic television fathers: Alan Matthews (Boy Meets World) – The gold standard of TV parenting or too perfect? Jack Arnold (The Wonder Years) – The classic, hard-working, grumpy-but-loving patriarch. George Bluth Sr. (Arrested Development) – The absolute wild card. Listen in as we break down their parenting styles, their best moments, and where they ultimately land on our tier list. Bringing you fatherhood from every angle: Matt – The Married Dad POV Bern – The Divorced Dad POV Liam – The Single Dad POV
Welcome back to the Working Perspectives Podcast! In this episode, we are diving deep into the ultimate television fatherhood debate with our official TV Dad Tier List. To make sure we have all our bases covered, we're bringing four totally different dad perspectives to the table: Matt brings the point of view of a married dad. Bern brings the point of view of a divorced dad. Liam brings the point of view of a single dad. Tom brings the point of view of a married dad with two sons. Watch as we battle it out, grading and debating the parenting styles, hilarious flaws, and iconic moments of four legendary sitcom fathers: Homer Simpson (The Simpsons), Al Bundy (Married... with Children), Dan Conner (Roseanne), and Frank Reynolds (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia). Who gets the legendary S-Tier status and who gets dropped to the bottom? It's a healthy dose of 90s TV nostalgia mixed with absolute chaos. The Strategists Media Corporation, in association with The Strategists Podcast Network, presents Balance of Power, a new series offering a fresh lens on the forces shaping Canada's future. Are we misreading the political moment? This week, Annalise is away and Shannon Phillips and Leah Ward are joined by pollster and data scientist Kyla Ronellenfitsch, President of Relay Strategies, to cut through three dominant narratives: Alberta separatism, immigration backlash, and the supposed rightward shift among young voters.First: new reporting reveals Alberta separatist organizers meeting with officials at the U.S. State Department. How seriously should we take the movement? And what happens if it collides with Trump-era trade politics? Then: immigration. Is public concern rooted in xenophobia, the pace and direction of recent policy, economic anxiety, or all three? The panel examines what the data shows, why “out of control” has become such a powerful frame, and whether progressives may be reinforcing the very fears they're trying to counter.Plus: are Gen Z voters really drifting right? Kyla shares research challenging the “young men gone conservative” narrative and introduces a revealing contrast in Canadian politics: TV Dad vs YouTube Bro.Finally: Pierre Poilievre's rough week, polarizing favourables, and what happens when a campaign narrative flips.Welcome to Balance of Power.Guest:Kyla Ronellenfitsch, President of Relay StrategiesSubstack: relaywithkyla.substack.com Hosted on Acast. And now for something completely different...in this special episode, we pay tribute to the late, great Ozzy Osbourne and each pick five of our favorite songs from the rock legend's career. So you may ask yourself, why are we doing an Ozzy episode on our classic alternative music podcast? We certainly don't want to be "those guys" who churn out opportunistic memorial episodes - but, quite simply, Uncle Gregg suggested "hey, we should do an Ozzy tribute" and Brett said "OK, let's do it." That's the way decisions are made here at O3L Headquarters...and six hours later, the episode is out to the world. John "Ozzy" Osbourne passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76, a little more than two weeks after his final performance at the Back to the Beginning farewell concert, a massive show that featured a who's who of heavy metal musicians, culminating in a five song Ozzy solo set and a four song finale from Black Sabbath. Ozzy, of course, rose to prominence as the lead singer of Birmingham rock band Black Sabbath from the time of their formation in 1969 until his dismissal in 1979. Considered one of (if not THE) most influential bands in the evolution of heavy metal, Sabbath also consisted of guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, and drummer Bill Ward, releasing a string of classic albums like Black Sabbath (1970), Paranoid (1970), Master of Reality (1971), Vol. 4 (1972), Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (1973), Sabotage (1975), Technical Ectasy (1976), Never Say Die (1978) before Ozzy launched a fruitful solo career. Solo records include 1980's Blizzard of Ozz, 1981's Diary of a Madman, 1983's Bark at the Moon, and 1991's No More Tears, intertwined with occasional Black Sabbath reunions, most notably their 2013 album 13. Osbourne remained at the forefront of pop culture through his popular Ozzfest tours and his unlikely stint as a lovable TV Dad on the reality show The Osbournes. Learn more about your ad choices. What does it mean to be a "feminist dad"? Maybe a better place to start is asking: what does it mean to be a feminist at all... and why is that term so controversial? There are many ideas and misunderstandings associated with the concept of feminism, and in August of 2021, we were fortunate to explore feminism and fatherhood with the brilliant Jordan Shapiro: author, educator, and senior fellow at the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop. In his acclaimed book, Father Figure: How to Be a Feminist Dad, Jordan unpacks how traditional ideas of masculinity shape our parenting, why inclusivity matters, and what it takes to raise "radically inclusive" kids in a rapidly changing world. Whether you're new to the topic or ready to challenge what you thought you knew, this Rewind episode is full of big ideas and practical takeaways.Topics include:• Fatherhood as an evolving, not fixed, role shaped by changing ideas about masculinity and gender.• Embracing feminism in parenting by modeling inclusivity, equality, and respect for all.• Challenging traditional masculine norms and embracing vulnerability and growth as a dad.• Prioritizing responsibility and adaptability over authority in fatherhood.• The importance of self-reflection and open dialogue about gender, identity, and family roles.• And more!LINKS:Farther Figure: How To Be a Feminist DadJordan Shapiro (official website)Jordan Shapiro (Twitter)Jordan Shapiro (Instagram)Red Vault AudioCaspar BabypantsSpencer AlbeeModern Dadhood (website)AdamFlaherty.tvStuffed Animal (Marc's kids' music)MD (Instagram)MD (Facebook)MD (YouTube)MD (TikTok) #moderndadhood #fatherhood #parenthood #parenting #parentingpodcast #dadding #dadpodcast
