In this Dark Moon download, Britten reflects on the lunar cycle that began at the New Moon in Libra and is now completing just before the New Moon in Scorpio on November 20th. She explores the archetype of the ferryman, a figure who guides travelers across waters to unknown shores, and how this image has appeared repeatedly in her tarot readings as the Six of Swords, revealing her role as a guide and container-holder. Topics She Covers: The Six of Swords and Six of Cups: being a ferryman who guides people to unknown shores and a fountain of resources for transformation Trust as the currency (aka: the coin that allows passage on the boat) and why transformational containers require serious trust for alchemy to happen Teaching the ferryman song from her daughters' Swedish immersion camp and how the zodiac transmissions are the essential songs she sings in Living Emergence The Nine Boredoms of the Rightful Baddie as nine forms of permission inspired by the Vasilisa fairy tale and the journey to meet Baba Yaga How grief is essential to giving yourself permission, and why growing up means becoming bored with consensus reality's illusions Creating delusional spaces for delusional dreams, where the circle of animals (the zodiac) helps us see parts of ourselves that want our attention Britten emphasizes that her work is about supporting you in trusting your capacity to be creators for this world. To show up more loudly, clearly, and magnificently in your unique creativity. Living Emergence is designed as a living, breathing world held by the wheel of the year, where you can stay for as long as it's nourishing you, moving through all twelve signs in a cyclical process of revelation and transformation. +++ Join The 9 Boredoms of the Rightful Baddie mini-course - it''s FREE! The Great Mother is one of the most primordial archetypes, and one today that has lost some of her original potency. We either tend to wash away her intensity by reducing her to "creativity" or "nurture" or project her power outwards, turning it into the witch, the monster, the devourer. In this episode, Mariana is joined again by Alyssa Polizzi to explore the true potency of the Great Mother, both in her majesty and terror. They draw from a host of stories and mythic figures including Demeter, Tiamat, Inanna, Vasilisa, and Psyche to trace the outline of the Great Mother in her true archetypal complexity. In our dream interpretation section, we explore a listener's dream of encountering a woman in white at the edge of a forest.ANNOUNCEMENTSMariana's ARCHETYPAL TAROT SCHOOL is still open until September 6th: https://persephonessister.com/archetypal-tarot-schoolRegister for Alyssa Polizzi's upcoming workshop The Empress Reimagined: https://alyssapolizzi.substack.com/p/monthly-empress-reimaginedAnd join her Substack The Artemisian w/ a 15% discount: https://www.theartemisian.com/sorormysticaCheck out Mariana's upcoming class Princess, Priestess, Goddess, Witch: A 4-part exploration of the archetypes of Feminine power in Western consciousness: https://persephonessister.com/ppgw/

In this episode, Lian shares the timeless Slavic folktale tale of Vasilisa The Beautiful and Baba Yaga. Each month, Lian tells a mythical tale… as spell, as memory, as invitation... not to be analysed or consumed, but to be felt, stirred, remembered as a magical doorway into your own soul. She first shared this live with our beloved community in UNIO, our Academy of the Soul, in which we continue to journey more deeply together with it in a month-long quest. To join us for the next mythical quest, you can join UNIO here: bemythical.com/unio The tale of Vasilisa is one of enchantment, resilience, and the deep wisdom that lies hidden in plain sight. A dying mother's blessing… a magical doll… a dark forest… and the terrifying Baba Yaga, whose spinning hut and riddling tasks test the heart of a young girl thrust into a heroine's journey. What begins as a tale of cruelty and exile unfolds into a luminous transformation… one that reveals how love, intuition, and soul-guidance can lead us through even the darkest of nights. Through this myth, we're offered a mirror: one that reflects back our own relationship to trust, to trial, and to the quiet voice that knows the way home. We'd love to know what YOU think about this week's show. Let's carry on the conversation… please leave a comment wherever you are listening or in any of our other spaces to engage. What you'll receive from this episode: A Blessing in Disguise: The doll Vasilisa's mother gives her is more than a keepsake… it becomes the voice of wisdom, protection, and intuition that guides her through the unknown. The Trials of the Forest: Baba Yaga's impossible tasks become rites of passage, revealing the hidden power that awakens when we listen, surrender, and trust what lives within us. Fire as Sovereignty: The flame Vasilisa returns with is no longer borrowed… it is earned, and with it comes a transformation that burns away falsehood and reveals the queen she was always becoming. For episode two of our third Cinderella era, Cassie is joined by Matt to discuss Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter, a retelling of the Russian Cinderella-esque story Vasilisa the Beautiful. When Vassa's stepsister sends her out to buy lightbulbs in the middle of the night, she knows it could easily become a suicide mission. Babs Yagg, the owner of the local convenience store, has a policy of beheading shoplifters―and sometimes innocent shoppers as well. But Vassa has a bit of luck hidden in her pocket, a gift from her dead mother. Erg is a tough-talking wooden doll with sticky fingers, a bottomless stomach, and ferocious cunning. With Erg's help, Vassa just might be able to break the witch's curse and free her Brooklyn neighborhood. This week I share the replay of this weeks Wisdom Wednesday, from our private fb community Wider Circles Hudson Valley Healing Circles! Sacred storytelling is a huge passion of mine- I hope you enjoy!! If there was anything I shared that resonated with you, please leave a like, review, and share with your frenz. This all helps get the podcast out there for those who may need to hear this too! And remember, there will be times when we feel like we've fallen back a few steps, or we feel like we're regressing in our healing, or our actions aren't aligned with our words 100% of the time. These things will come up. Situations arise to show us how we can meet ourselves with more compassion and give whatever version of ourselves that is hurting what it needs. No, you shouldn't give up. Yes, healing IS possible for you. No, you aren't broken. Yes, you are worth the effort. And another thing, it's perfectly okay to take a break from actively looking at and healing every little thing. Rest and integration are so important and, honestly, non-negotiable to our true healing journey. So be kind with yourself, don't compare yourself to someone else's journey and "success", and keep in mind that perfection isn't relatable. Be you. Honor all of your sides- the beautiful, the messy, the human, the sacred. Until next week, I love you forreal- now go take up space! Intuition, Love, and Fulfilling Your Unique Path In this episode of Practically Magick, hosted by Courtney Pearl and featuring guest Rachel Taylor, the discussion centers around intuition and its transformative power in personal growth and spiritual practice. Courtney introduces herself as a varied spiritual practitioner, and Rachel as an intuitive reminder and advocate for personal development through love. They delve into personal anecdotes, a tarot card reading using the Knight of Pentacles, and the role of intuition in guiding life decisions. The conversation emphasizes that intuition is a universal gift, encouraging listeners to trust their inner guidance and follow what brings them joy, thereby fulfilling their unique path in the collective symphony of life. The episode also touches on scientific perspectives on intuition and consciousness, the journey of self-remembrance, and navigating life with a love-based versus fear-based mindset. Courtney and Rachel conclude by discussing the importance of embracing one's uniqueness and contributing to the collective consciousness by being true to oneself. 00:00 Welcome to Practically Magic: Introducing Courtney and Rachel 00:28 Tarot Insights: The Knight of Pentacles 02:03 Intuition Unveiled: A Deep Dive with Rachel Taylor 10:05 The Power of Intuition: Rachel's Perspective 16:20 Personal Journeys with Intuition 21:45 Embracing Intuition: A Path to Empowerment 24:57 Distinguishing Between Anxiety and Intuition 26:18 Embracing Love Over Fear 28:48 Intuition in Parenting and Personal Growth 30:21 The Practical Magic of Intuition 30:49 Exploring the Science Behind Intuition 36:32 Cultivating Joy and Recognizing Your Spiritual Gift 39:38 The Collective Consciousness and Our Unique Contributions 42:23 Invitation to Embrace Your Unique Self and Upcoming Events #IntuitionPower #SpiritualJourney #TarotTalk #PodcastLife #SoulAlignment #CreativeIntuition #GuidingLight ----more---- **Title: Navigating Life's Pathways with Intuition: A Deep Dive into the Magical and the Mundane** **Introduction** In today's ever-evolving world, where the line between the magical and the mundane steadily blurs, embracing our inner guidance system—our intuition—becomes imperative. The recent episode of the "Practically Magic" podcast, hosted by Courtney Pearl, a Celtic priestess, healer, and spiritual guide, illuminates this concept magnificently. Joined by Rachel Taylor, an intuitive reminder and advocate for soul alignment, they explore the essence of intuition, the practicality of magic in everyday life, and how we can all tap into our innate, often overlooked, spiritual gifts. **The Essence of Intuition** Intuition, as discussed by Courtney and Rachel, is not just a buzzword thrown around in spiritual communities but a powerful, intrinsic force that resides within each of us. It's that inner knowing, a guide that leads us through life's complex maze with a sense of clarity and purpose. Both Courtney and Rachel share their journeys of rediscovery, where intuition played a pivotal role in navigating periods of personal upheaval and transformation. Their conversation demystifies the concept of intuition, breaking down the barriers between the so-called 'gifted' and those who presume they are bereft of such abilities. As Rachel profoundly states, "Intuition is a power within us... it's something that everybody and everyone has the chance to connect with." **Intuition in Practice: Tools and Tales** One of the highlights of their discussion revolves around the practical tools and methods to engage with and enhance one's intuition. Courtney shares a personal anecdote about pulling a tarot card, the Knight of Pentacles, which sparks a rich dialogue on its symbolism and applicability in understanding one's current life phase. This not only showcases the power of intuitive tools like tarot but also illustrates how intuition can present itself in various, often unexpected ways. Moreover, they delve into folklore, with Courtney narrating the story of Vasilisa, a tale that metaphorically represents intuition as a guiding doll. This story, like many folk tales, serves as a vehicle for understanding the nuances of our intuitive gifts, emphasizing the importance of listening and trusting that small, still voice within. **Connecting the Dots: Science and Spirituality** A fascinating aspect of their discussion bridges the gap between science and spirituality, highlighting the universal nature of intuition. They touch upon concepts from internal family systems and neurology, underscoring the scientific underpinnings of intuition and its correlation with the brain's functioning. This intersection of knowledge validates the experience of intuition, offering a grounding perspective for skeptics or those seeking a logical framework. **Community and Collective Consciousness** Both Courtney and Rachel underscore the significance of community in nurturing and validating our intuitive experiences. Through building online spaces and engaging in conversations like these, we can foster a collective consciousness that embraces the myriad ways intuition manifests. Rachel's initiative to create an online Soul Alignment Community is a testament to this vision, offering a sanctuary for those wishing to explore and strengthen their intuition. **Conclusion: A Call to Intuition** The conversation between Courtney Pearl and Rachel Taylor serves as a beacon for all seeking to understand and harness the power of their intuition. It invites us to shift our perspective, to view intuition not as a rarefied gift for the few but as a common thread that weaves through the tapestry of human experience. As we step into the future, may we all embrace our intuitive gifts, exploring the magical and the mundane with openness and curiosity. Let us remember that within each of us lies an intuitive guide, ready to illuminate our path if only we dare to listen. --- **Join the Conversation** To dive deeper into the realms of intuition, magic, and self-discovery, follow Courtney Pearl and Rachel Taylor on their respective platforms. Engage with their communities, participate in workshops, and continue this enriching dialogue on intuition and its place in our lives. Remember, the journey into intuition is one of reclamation, of coming home to the wisdom that dwells within. Let's embark on this journey together, hand in hand, heart to heart, as we unlock the magic that resides within us all.
Integration often takes longer than we think it will - the space between what's here and what we now know to be possible is a place of healthy tension, heartbreak, creativity, imagination… hopefully leading to more wholeness and vibrant human-spirit expression. As my post-pilgrimage integration journey continues, I share with you some John O'Donohue-inspired musings around Absence as creative force and soul-home. You'll hear a breath meditation and synopsis of the Slavic story of Vasilisa (plus an image from the story which feels potent to me right now); as well as some of my wonderings on: wholeness; presence and absence; our fear around ‘nothingness'; the crux of the tension inherent in being a soul and a human; and being ‘in rhythm' vs ‘vacancy'. I continue exploring the perfection of our messy designs and share with you an invitation to be kinder to ourselves when going through a rough patch. And I'd love to keep hearing from you: What do you think? Where do you find rhythm between your own Presence, Absence, and vacancy? Does any of this land for you? Or do you see it all as something else? May we know each moment to be the threshold it is because we honor both our body-self and our invisible self. And may both those selves have places to retreat into rest. May we treat ourselves to absence when the time is now. May we befriend our hunger and longing so it becomes the instigating spark of our creativity and imagination. May our many pieces come home to wholeness. And may we be able to sort the dreams from the dirt to find the treasures of possibility in all our peak experiences. In this episode, the storyteller, Kathy Shimpock, will explore the Grimm tale, "The Girl Who Lost Her Hands." It's a story that packs a punch and leaves listeners quaking in the dust. Well, maybe that's a bit extreme. You can judge for yourself! We'll look at several versions of the story, its derivation and multiple interpretations. And finally, and perhaps most importantly, there will be an interview with the Handless Maiden herself. Who will give the interview? Why the wise crone, that's who! Small moments of fables, stories, and poems with Kathy and Kateri, sprinkled among our quarterly podcast episodes. In this mini-episode, Kathy tells her variation of the folk tale of Baba Yaga and Vasilisa, mainly based on how her grandmother told it to her, with a few dashes of the feminist re-tellings she read as an adult. This story does not tell a neat tale of bending all things to our will just by trying hard enough. It is more a tale of trusting yourself and knowing that some seemingly impossible tasks may just need faith and thought around them. With this trust, the unknown does not have to be walked into with fear; it can become an ally. Approach with a willingness to embrace mystery.
Vasilisa is right about everything... Full episode transcripts available on our website. DimensionDoorPodcast.com/transcripts Thanks for listening to The Dimension Door Podcast! I recently overhead an exchange between a little boy and his mom. The subject was witches and magic. Which got me thinking. Magic involves perception, changes in the way we see and the manner in which things appear. Magic, like myth, is now a matter of "belief" when it could be practice. This episode revolves around a Russian fairy tale called "Vasilisa the Wise." On one level, this is a story about a young woman and a witch called the Baba Yaga. On another level, it's an invitation to think about magic. The magic and the mystery that we are in, by virtue of being alive.Support the show
Story Prescription: A story about entering the frightening places in our lives, like Baba Yaga's hut, in order to come out on the other side. A story about following inner wisdom and intuition, and embracing the darkness that we all need to face sometimes. -Story Caution: Recommended age 12+ A story from Eastern Europe about a girl called Vasilisa the Beautiful, who needs to go to Baba Yaga's hut for a light, and face her ultimate fear - a human devouring, frightening witch, the keeper of the underworld, a powerful goddess. But is there more to Baba Yaga that meets the eye, and can Vasilisa make it out alive? A story perfect for Samhain and Halloween. _ To support my work financially you can become a a regular patron on Patreon, and you will receive the gift of stories and folklore. . It's time to wish our way out of one fairy tale and into another! Drew and Cassie wrap up their final thoughts on Aladdin, including, and then rather than discussing how we would retell the tale ourselves like we usually do, we suggest ideas of how we would like to see someone else retell Aladdin. Then we take a journey to the past by explaining why we wanted to revisit Cinderella. We discuss the plots of some of the most prominent cultural variants of the story: Rhodopis of Greece, Ye Xian of China, and Vasilisa the Brave of Russia. We also update our criteria a little bit from the last time we talked about Cinderella and reveal which books and movies we'll be reading and watching throughout the month! Join our community! This week we return to the world of mythical Kiev for another tale of the bogatyrs and... their wives? The Tale of Vasilisa Mikulishna is a wonderfully fun gender-swapping tale that puts masculine and feminine tropes on their head... only to put them all back in glorious order by the end. In the analysis section, Deacon Nicholas offers a real-life example of someone who was conquered by Christ through a life of storytelling.
