This episode is a re-release from a few months ago where I talk with Nick Trombetta who is a part of the Sunrise Movement which is a youth movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. They're building an army of young people to make climate change an urgent priority across America, end the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives on our politics, and elect leaders who stand up for the health and wellbeing of all people. With Nick we discuss the Sunrise Movement's mission, why it is important for youth to be involved in the climate movement, the Green New Deal, and actions they're taking locally. In the episode there are talks about politicians, but BREDL does not endorse any politician or political party. Thanks for listening and if you like it, please share with a friend! This week's guest is an octogenarian whose biography reads like a Boy's Own swashbuckling tale of derring do. Not content with learning to fly with the RAF after WWII, Robert Pooley launched an aviation company after being demobbed from the military and having built that into a world-renowned flying empire, embarked on the little matter of making swords. Of course, there were a few little adventures in-between - like rebuilding a Scottish castle, stone by stone - but that's all water under the bridge. With Nick listening agog, the indomitable Mr Pooley explains his wit and wisdom and why he still loves what he does every single day. Happy Friday folks!

Dale Perry, owner of Evolution Outdoors, gives listeners insight into the design process for his latest broadheads, Jekyll & Hyde. The Evolution of Jekyll & HydeAfter inventing the original GraveDigger Broadhead, I had to be innovative and creative in order to compete with myself when designing JEKYLL & HYDE. A great product always provides a solution to a problem. One obstacle many hunters face, especially when traveling to hunt, is that each state has their own broadhead regulations. I thought it would be helpful if a bowhunter could easily convert their mechanical broadhead to a fixed in a matter of seconds. This eliminates the need to shoot different broadheads in different states. With that in mind, I developed the first of its kind, patent-pending, interchangeable ferrule; allowing the hunter to choose a fixed or mechanical setup based on their hunt. During development and extensive testing, I found that the arrow mechanics and flight pattern did not change between the two configurations. Using today’s technology, I was able to create a better, patent-pending, blade locking system that ensures consistent deployment every time. With that, the HYDE was born. Knowing I had the pleasure of designing a fixed blade broadhead as well, I add a second one-inch fixed blade creating atypical four blade cut, known as the JEKYLL. We are truly committed to produce and stand behind the highest quality products in the world. With our high standards in quality and machining we continue to use our local expert, Nick Fisher, from AAE, in Prescott, Arizona. With Nick’s working knowledge of machining and archery, the quality and workmanship are top notch. Our processes are evolving as technology changes and our products are tested to the highest standards. We strive to always be at the leading edge in quality, innovation, and customer service. Special Report Covid Coffee Chronicles Creativity and Covid-19 Episode 63 Ember Goods Address: 422 Washington St SE, Olympia, WA 98501 Phone: (360) 338-0315 Welcome to Covid Coffee Chronicles episode 63 Creativity and Covid 19 Today we are talking to Login and Bonita Smith, and Nick and Jessica Terell. They are the owners of Ember Goods Coffee store in Olympia WA. We last interviewed Nick and Bonita on season 2 episode 56 If You Give a Mouse a Hairdryer. This week we have all four of the owners present on a conference call to update us on how they are surviving the pandemic. With Nick's talent as an accomplished woodworker, and professional photographers Login and Bonita, they transformed a dark and dingy tattoo parlor into a Pacific Northwest inspired original one of a kind store. This location draws artisans of all types. Think of a scaled down community centered REI with leather couches, local art, books, and beauty products including beard wax! I purchased Bawston & Tucker Solid Cologne while we were there but I am sadly running out! OK guys are you listening? I am running out! As far as their clothing line goes, soft, comfortable and stylish with a North Woods flair, what else could you ask for! Can you tell I love this store? Now how about the coffee! Small batch roasted in Morton WA. Whatever the specialty drink you may want, they will make it for you. Don’t leave without trying my favorite beverage, with turmeric, ginger, honey, cinnamon, clove, hemp milk and espresso. We tried to weedle the recipe out of them, but trade secrets and all no such luck. Currently you can’t come in to order your favorite drink but you can still support Ember Goods. In order to keep their business afloat Ember Goods enlisted the help of Kickstarter to raise money. Within a range of pledges the public could receive everything from coffee beans, merchandise, art, photo and wedding shoots, night stays at an adorable B & B,and even a day spent in Nick’s wood shop learning how to make his signature piece. Fortunately with 207 donors they have now reached their goal. So now you need to go to https://www.Embergoods.com and check out their available products/merchandise and coffee for online orders. When this pandemic is over stop in and say hi to Logan,Bonita, Nick and Jessica, from the Cross Country Coffee Roadshow. And did I mention I am running out of my Bawston & Tucker Solid Cologne?
Our exciting KBIS coverage continues, this time joined by The Chaise Lounge's Nick May! Still hype from their last discussion, Garrison and Lisa dig into the various reasons they feel it's important to come to the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (almost) every year - or to send your junior designers along at the very least. With Nick in the mix, our transcontinental crew reminisces about their hilariously-storied histories, and bring their combined decades of varied expertise to the table. Points of interest include: Garrison's 54th floor Las Vegas view, how important is it to come to KBIS, the value of relationships, how important it is to handle mistakes well, a special tease of Garrison's hometown project - and much more.
Nick Cordero is a Tony nominated actor (Bullets Over Broadway, Waitress, A Bronx Tale). I sat down with him a few years ago at Build Series in New York City. I chose this interview from the archives because I want you to know how great Nick is, and for you to keep him in your thoughts. Because my friend is Nick is very sick — he is fighting for his life, in critical condition, in the ICU as a result of Covid-19. He has a 10-month old baby; his wife is understandably distraught; and they are asking everyone everywhere to pray — whatever that looks like — for Nick’s recovery. I interviewed him when starring in the iconic role of Sonny in A Bronx Tale: The Musical, written by and inspired by the life of Chazz Palminteri. With Nick so very much on my mind right now, and in the hearts of the whole Broadway community, I am reaching back to our interview as part of my own prayer process. Please keep Nick and his family in the forefront of your minds, along with the families of everyone else suffering from this horrible pandemic. To all the first responders, heath care professionals, and essential workers: I thank you. To everyone listening: Stay Safe, Stay Healthy, Stay Home. To Nick and his wife Amanda and their baby Elvis: My heart is with you.
“Try to think ahead of what you really want. The end goal. Where you really wanna be.” Nick D’Virgilio is a name that if you are tuning into YouTube and other social media platforms likely recognize due to his presence at Sweetwater. That is certainly Nick’s main gig these days but he has had a very rich musical career leading up to Sweetwater. He has worked with Genesis, Tears for Fears, Cirque Du Soleil, Spock’s Beard, Big Big Train and more. Can you imagine actually recording on the final Genesis album? In that studio that produced some of the most important prog-rock in history? Or touring with Tears for Fears? But leading up to the time where he met Kevin Gilbert randomly at a ski resort was a long grind of sameness, very little momentum and in Nick’s words, “what am I doing with my life kinda stuff.” Nick’s story is one of perseverance. He just wouldn’t accept an alternative even though he wasn’t going where he wanted to be for years. He found his break with Kevin and had the desire and abilities to make his mark and the rest is history. A truly amazing life of music and a story that will resonate with so many people. You Will Hear About…. Whether Nick thinks that social skills have changed over the last fifteen years. How Nick felt about interviewing people in the beginning. Kevin Gilbert and what that did for Nick’s early career. Recording for Genesis The days at the Jolly Roger and when Nick was at odds with his music career. Trusting your instincts. The cost involved with a career in music. Nick’s new concept album. Nick’s take on brand loyalty A bit about Sweetwater How Nick likes his lifestyle now compared to before when he toured a lot. Why Should You Listen? I think that this episode will be particularly beneficial for listeners who are grinding at the bars, playing small festivals, tracking for low budget artists, and essentially sticking with it in hopes that they will get their big break. With Nick, he couldn’t have imagined what was in store for him. It is good that he stuck with it and worked hard on his craft. His story will likely strongly resonate with working drummers who listen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1rYSLqWqoM Nick’s Socials Instagram Facebook Website Follow ‘Drumeo Gab’ Instagram Facebook
