On this episode for August 23rd, 2025, your Bible Reading Coach, Hunter, guides us through a rich journey in the Scriptures, exploring Jeremiah 31 and 32, followed by First John 4. As we listen to God's promises of restoration, Hunter unpacks the profound declaration of a new covenant—a covenant not written on tablets of stone, but on our very hearts. We also pause with John's letter to consider the nature of true love, the assurance we have as God's children, and the freedom that perfect love brings from fear and shame. Join us for moments of scripture, insight, and heartfelt prayer as we reflect on God's everlasting love, the invitation to live in peace and gratitude, and the challenge to let love—God's own love—shape every part of our daily lives. Whether you're seeking encouragement or a deeper connection with God, this episode offers a fresh reminder: you are loved, and God has made a way for you. Let's spend these few moments together, listening and growing in the presence of the One who is love. TODAY'S DEVOTION: A new covenant, a new heart, a new hope. Jeremiah is given a prophecy from the Lord about a coming day—a day when God himself will do something entirely new. God promises to write his covenant, not just on tablets of stone, nor simply in laws and rituals, but deep within his people, written upon their very hearts. The old covenant—well-intentioned, but forever frustrated by human weakness—would give way to something greater. The life that this first covenant called for would finally be lived out in perfection, not by us, but by His Son. Jesus, the spotless Lamb, lived a life of love and obedience, fulfilling what Israel and all of us could not. By his loving sacrifice, he has reconciled us—broken, exhausted, rebellious exiles—back to God. This is God's new work: he has taken the old, hardened heart of Adam and replaced it with a new heart, a heart that desires fellowship, love, and communion with God. Where shame, guilt, and fear once reigned, God plants a new covenant, a new hope, a new person. He does not merely repair us; he remakes us. “I will put my instructions deep within them,” Jeremiah says. “I will write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.” This is not something we accomplish—it is something God has done for us, out of his unending love. The apostle John says it so plainly: “God is love. And all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them.” God's perfect love has made a way for us to live free—free from condemnation, free from shame, free from fear. As we continue to trust, to abide, and to participate with Him, our lives are gradually transformed. Our love grows more perfect. We begin to live as those who are truly loved, loving others, and living with confidence. Fear loses its grip, because perfect love expels all fear. This good news—the news of a new covenant written on our hearts, of lives made new in love—is for us and for the world. Let us awaken each day to this reality. God's love is not just something we hear about; it has been poured into our hearts, making us new people, with a new purpose and a new hope. That's a prayer I have for my own soul, to live in this love, to participate in it, to let it drive out fear, condemnation, shame, and guilt. I pray that for my family—my wife, my daughters, my son. And that's the prayer I have for you, too. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Almighty and ever loving God, you have brought us to the light of a new morning. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit, that we may walk this day in peace. Guard our steps from temptation. Shield us from the weight of fear and shame, and lead us deeper into the joy of your presence, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. O Christ, light of the nations, shine in every place where shadows dwell. Call the scattered home, heal the wounds of division and gather all people into the communion of your grace. May the knowledge of the Lord cover the earth as the waters cover the sea. Amen. And now, Lord, make my hands ready for mercy. Make my eyes quick to see the hurting, my ears open to the cry of the lonely, and my feet swift to bring good news. Let me seek to bless, not to be noticed, to serve, not to be praised, to forgive, not to hold back. For in your way is life, in your mercy is healing, and in your love is the peace this world cannot give. Amen. And now, as our Lord has taught us, we are bold to Pray: Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. I discovered a great AI app that you can start using for free and then pay $5.00 per month for an upgrade. This app, Gamma (https://www.aippt.com), allows you to quickly create slide show presentations. And then use the presentation to create a video like the one above.I started with three lines of information, as shown below. I entered these lines into the Gamma app and within a few minutes, Gamma generated a ten-slide presentations that became the basis for the above video.Writer's Block: In Case of an Emergency, Break the GlassThere really is no such thing as writer's block or any other block to getting things done. Blocks only exist if you let them. If you move on, they melt away.As the blue collar comedians, say, “Get ‘er done!” Move on!The text for the video is showcased below. Note how Gamma took three lines and made ten slides with the following extensive content. In case of an emergency, break glass. The truth about writer's block.Writer's block isn't about what you think it is. It's not an immovable barrier, but rather a temporary obstacle that only exists if you allow it to.This presentation explores the reality behind the myth and provides practical solutions to get your creativity flowing again. The Myth of Writer's BlockJerry Jenkins puts it bluntly, writer's block is a myth. No other profession accepts a block as a legitimate reason to stop working. If you wait for motivation or inspiration to strike before writing, you'll be waiting forever.Creativity doesn't appear on demand. What we call writer's block is actually a combination of fear, procrastination, and perfectionism, masquerading as creative stoppage.Rather than accepting blocks, successful writers develop strategies to push through the resistance.Famous writers who struggled and won.Samuel Taylor Coleridge experienced what he called an indefinite, indescribable terror that prevented him from writing for an entire year in 1804.Paul Sylvia, a psychology professor and author on motivation, went nine months without making progress on his own book about motivation.Despite these profound struggles, both men eventually overcame their creative paralysis by fundamentally changing their mindset and establishing new writing habits. What really causes writer's block? This pie chart showcases from Research Insights, a 2024 University of North Florida study.Psychological factors including stress and anxiety. That's the big dark purple pie slice on the right.Next, fear of criticism, the lower, more lavender pie slice. And then perfectionism, which is the next as we rotate around.Procrastination.And then other factors. Two main types of blocks. There are two main types of blocks, plot block and life block.Plot block occurs when story logic stalls. Character or plot feel stuck. This is a craft problem fixable with patience, restructuring, and narrative technique.Life block results from personal issues that can drain creative energy. It can require addressing deeper needs, self-care, mental health support, or lifestyle adjustments.Recognizing your specific block type is a crucial first step to implementing the right solution.Practical hacks to break the block. You can schedule writing. Treat writing like a job. Paul Sylvia committed to two hours daily. No excuses. Consistency builds momentum and trains your brain for creativity.Step two, you can do free writing. Set a timer for 10 to 15 minutes of unfiltered, unedited writing. This bypasses perfectionism and often produces unexpected insights. And you can change the environment. So if one place isn't working, work at a cafe or park or library. Environmental novelty stimulates new neural connections and fresh perspectives. These practical approaches work because they shift focus from outcomes to process, making writing a habitual action rather than a high stakes performance.Embrace fear and imperfection. The best writing is born of humility. That's from mystery writer and thriller writer Dean Kuntz.Fear is natural and justified. Embrace it as a motivation.Perfectionism kills progress. Done is better than perfect.Writing imperfectly today creates a foundation for better writing. The most prolific writers aren't fearless. They've simply learned to write despite their fears. The power of mindset.Move on and melt the block. Blocks only exist if you let them. Writer's block is a construct we create and maintain.Recognize it as a temporary state, not a permanent condition. As the blue-collar comedians say, get 'er done. Simple forward motion is often the best solution. Action creates its own momentum. An act of faith: Writing requires belief in your ability to figure it out as you go. Trust the process and keep moving forward.Your mindset determines whether obstacles become barriers or stepping stones. Choose to see blocks as temporary challenges rather than immovable obstacles.Motivation is not a gift, it's a choice. Waiting for motivation is like waiting for a bus that may never come. You have to start walking. Here's the motivation equation.Traditional belief: motivation inspires action, which inspires results. The reality: action inspires results, which increases motivation.Motivation is generated by the act of writing itself. The more you write, the more you want to write. Start small, but start today.Your emergency glass, smash it and write. The world needs your story, so get ‘er done.Writer's block is a temporary illusion. It dissolves the moment you decide to move forward despite uncertainty, fear, or imperfection.Your words matter. Break the glass, pick up your pen, and start writing right now.Book Marketing Success is a reader-supported publication. Drawing from Matthew 10:28 and her experience after reading John Bevere's The Awe of God, she calls us to prioritize God's will over human approval.

If you've been “almost ready” to launch your subscription box for months – or even years – this episode of the Launch Your Box Podcast is for you. I get it. I spent 18 months sitting on my own subscription box idea, watching others launch, endlessly researching, tweaking, and dreaming. I thought I was preparing. But when I finally launched, I learned more in that first month of taking action than I had in all those months of planning. The truth? All that research, note-taking, and idea-tweaking feels productive… But it's keeping you from what you really want: customers, sales, and momentum. In this episode of the Launch Your Box Podcast, I'll help you break out of perpetual learning mode so you can finally start selling your subscription box.  How to Tell If You're Stuck in Perpetual Research Mode Some of the biggest indicators include: You've gathered endless information but haven't acted on it. Your launch date keeps moving. You redesign your branding more than you talk to potential customers. You're constantly switching your box idea after seeing others' boxes. You're waiting for the “perfect” product before you launch. Staying in research mode feels safe. There's no risk of rejection, no hard deadlines, and no uncomfortable decisions. But every week you stay there is a week without customers, feedback, or income. The Hidden Reasons You Haven't Launched Your Subscription Box Being “not ready” is rarely about needing more time or more information. Often, what's really keeping you stuck is one of these: Fear of Failure – Worrying no one will buy or that people won't like your box. Fear of Success – Wondering how you'll handle it if things actually take off. Perfectionism – Believing everything must be flawless before you launch. Comparison – Feeling behind because your box doesn't look like someone else's Year 5 version. Comfort Zone + Lack of Clarity – Staying in familiar territory instead of testing your idea with real people. In the episode, I share stories from my own business journey and why messy action is always better than perfect inaction. You can't research your way into a successful subscription box business. You have to sell your way there. Imagine 30 days from now: your first boxes shipped, real customer feedback in hand, and a clear plan for month two. That only happens if you start now. Stop waiting for perfect. Start building the business you've been dreaming about. Choose love over fear. It's more than a feel-good mantra. It's a radical leadership choice that can transform teams, ignite innovation, and turn crisis into opportunity. Washington Speakers Bureau President Ryan Heil has built his career proving that love, not fear, is the real competitive advantage in business and life. In this episode of Reflect Forward: Advice for Leaders, I sit down with Ryan to unpack how this philosophy has shaped his journey from professional baseball to earning a PhD in organizational culture, co-authoring Choose Love Not Fear with his father, and leading a major turnaround at one of the most influential organizations in the speaking industry. We explore why choosing love over fear creates stronger teams, deeper trust, and cultures that can adapt to disruption—plus how Ryan and his team navigated the pandemic's devastating impact on the speaking industry to emerge stronger than ever. Key Takeaways: • Love is a leadership strategy – Choosing love over fear builds trust, engagement, and sustainable performance. • Fear-based leadership fails in the long run – It may get short-term compliance, but it erodes creativity, passion, and loyalty. • Creative abrasion fuels innovation – Healthy conflict, when guided with respect, produces better ideas and stronger solutions. • Culture change starts one belief at a time – Turnarounds require relentless clarity on values, vision, and “why.” • Relationships are the real currency – They outlast trends, technologies, and even market disruptions. • Crisis is a catalyst for reinvention – Use uncertainty to question old assumptions and build better ways forward. • Your team may not always love you back – But consistent, steady leadership earns respect and trust over time. Mic Drop Moments: • “It's easy to lead with fear. But fear makes us dumber. Love unleashes human potential.” • “We don't have speaker contracts—we have handshakes. Integrity is the glue that holds our relationships together.” • “Success is temporary. So is failure. The real skill is knowing how to pivot fast.” • “AI can recommend a speaker, but it can't tell you who will stay after the keynote to shake every hand.” • “Love your team even when they don't love you back. That's leadership.” Connect with Ryan: • Connect with Ryan on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ryanmheil/ • Learn more about Washington Speakers Bureau: https://www.wsb.com/ • Get the book Choose Love Not Fear: https://www.amazon.com/Choose-Love-Not-Fear-Engagement/dp/1734105135 Connect with Kerry Don't forget to subscribe to Reflect Forward on your favorite podcast platform or YouTube. What if you could shift your child's behavior not with consequences, but with calm? What if the most powerful tool you have is love—biochemically speaking? In this eye-opening episode, Colleen O'Grady welcomes trauma and adoption expert Bryan Post to unpack the neuroscience behind stress and connection in parenting. Bryan explains how fear-based reactions (driven by cortisol) and love-based responses (driven by oxytocin) shape our children's behaviors—and our reactions to them. Drawing from his own story as an adoptee, Bryan introduces the concept of “stress-sensitive children,” emphasizing that behaviors we label as “bad” often stem from unhealed trauma and unconscious grief. Through vivid stories and science-backed insights, Bryan offers simple, powerful shifts moms can make—starting with breathing—to transform stress into connection. Bryan Post is one of the nation's leading experts on child behavior, trauma, and adoption. An adoptee and former foster child himself, Bryan founded Fear to Love LLC and developed the Fear to Love Method, a neuroscience-based, love-focused approach to parenting children with challenging behaviors. He's a therapist, speaker, and bestselling author of From Fear to Love and co-author of Beyond Consequences, Logic, and Control. He is also the creator of Bondify the first AI-powered trauma-informed parenting support app. All behavior arises from a state of stress. Underneath every meltdown or defiance is a nervous system overwhelmed by fear, often from unexpressed trauma or grief—sometimes passed down for generations. Oxytocin is the antidote to cortisol. Just as stress creates fear-driven behaviors, connection creates calm. Nurturing relationships, not consequences, help regulate the brain. Breathe first. Respond second. When parents slow down and breathe, they can shift their vibration from fear to love. That energy change alone can stop a four-year tantrum cycle in its tracks. The other day I saw this video of a professor talking about cringe culture—how being openly hopeful, positive, or ambitious somehow makes you the human equivalent of a “kick me” sign. Better to be nihilistic, detached, and “cool” than risk being seen trying. And you know what? She's right. We've built a culture where fear is fashionable. Fear of being judged. Fear of being canceled. Fear of failing so hard that you leave a crater. But here's the truth: fear's only job is to keep you bland and “safe.” It's that smoke detector that screams at burnt toast. It's the backseat driver telling you to stay home and eat dry cereal instead of risking rejection, ridicule, or (God forbid) being seen. Here's the dirty secret nobody tells you: everyone's afraid. The artists you admire? Afraid. Your favorite musicians? Nervous wrecks before a show. Even Beyoncé probably has a moment backstage wondering if her dress is too sparkly. The difference is—they act anyway.Fear has never written a book, painted a canvas, or built a business. It just sits there with its arms crossed, muttering “don't.” The only way to shut it up is to do it anyway.Start small. Post one piece of art. Play your song for one friend. Sell one hot dog. Each step is a hammer swing breaking the chains that hold you back.Because you're not here to live small. You're here to make noise, make messes, screw up, learn, and grow. Fear will always be in the car—just don't let it drive.

26 Therefore fear them not. For nothing is covered that shall not be revealed: nor hid, that shall not be known.Ne ergo timueritis eos. Nihil enim est opertum, quod non revelabitur : et occultum, quod non scietur. 27 That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light: and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye upon the housetops.Quod dico vobis in tenebris, dicite in lumine : et quod in aure auditis, praedicate super tecta. 28 And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell.Et nolite timere eos qui occidunt corpus, animam autem non possunt occidere : sed potius timete eum, qui potest et animam et corpus perdere in gehennam. 29 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father.Nonne duo passeres asse veneunt? et unus ex illis non cadet super terram sine Patre vestro. 30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.Vestri autem capilli capitis omnes numerati sunt. 31 Fear not therefore: better are you than many sparrows.Nolite ergo timere : multis passeribus meliores estis vos. 32 Every one therefore that shall confess me before men, I will also confess him before my Father who is in heaven.Omnis ergo qui confitebitur me coram hominibus, confitebor et ego eum coram Patre meo, qui in caelis est.St Agapitus, when only fifteen years old, endured many cruel tortures, and was beheaded at Praeneste in Italy A.D. 275.

We all have fears. But we don't have to let our fears control us. Amber sits down with Dr. Ashley Schoof of Christian Family Solutions to have a grounded conversation about fear as a natural part of being human, explained through both psychological insight and a faith perspective. Dr. Schoof shares clear, practical ways to respond to fear that emphasize connection and validation rather than dismissal. The discussion highlights how understanding our emotional wiring and learning to coregulate with others can help manage fear at any age. Find thoughtful guidance on navigating fears that impact daily life, including how to recognize when it's time to seek support—all without oversimplifying the complexity of emotions. This is the second of several conversations Amber had at the Christian Leadership Experience in La Crosse, Wisconsin, earlier this summer. The conference was a chance for those in ministry to learn from leaders. Dr. Schoof led a breakout session about fear.Amber wants to hear from you! "And I think that's why it took me 20 years to come back to the church is because it was never enough. Fear was not enough to get me to come back to the church. Shame was not enough to get me to come back to the church. Honestly, it was love, like, love brought me back to the church. So, you know, I've got too much proof. I'm still in the culinary world, there's still temptation, still surrounded by all the same stuff. But I pray every night. I do all the things right? I read my scriptures. I go to church. I take the sacrament. Those things that we teach the little kids in Primary, do it. This week, Pastor Troy reminded us that preparation isn't just about crossing over into new territory, it's about stepping into breakthrough. Looking at Joshua 6, we saw that God's plans are often unconventional, designed so that His glory is revealed, not ours. Breakthrough comes when we keep walking in faith-filled obedience, even when we don't see immediate results.Breakthrough also takes courage. Fear never fully goes away, but courage says, “I trust God more than I believe in the feeling of fear.” That courage is contagious, and it grows when we choose to praise God, whether we feel like it or not. Praise is a weapon against the enemy, a declaration of victory before the walls fall. Finally, breakthrough happens in unity and always points back to God's glory. When Israel acted together, the walls of Jericho fell. In the same way, our testimonies and victories should never spotlight us, but shine a light on the goodness and power of God. Every breakthrough is an opportunity to reveal that God is alive, powerful, and faithful.
