The Big Five Project returns to cover one of the worst WrestleManias of all time, namely WrestleMania XI. With the steroid scandal behind him, Vince McMahon shifts his focus to a badly depleted roster, poor ticket sales, cratering popularity, and a host of other problems. His solution to this was to put on a WrestleMania that was shy on actual talent but put a real emphasis on celebrity talent. Never was this more evident than in the Main Event, when Bam Bam Bigelow took on Lawrence Taylor. LT was, without question, one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history. But his in-ring skill did not come close to matching up. Meanwhile, the WWF Championship match between Shawn Michaels and "Big Daddy Cool" Diesel got pushed to the appetizer for the Main Event. Combine that with what Bret Hart described as his worst PPV match of all-time, a lackluster Undertaker match v King Kong Bundy, the Allied Powers, and a host of other issues and you have all the ingredients necessary for a train wreck. And a train wreck is exactly what we got 30 years ago. We cover it all for you here, so you don't have to watch it yourself. You can thank us later. The Big Five Project returns to bring 1994 to an end as the guys cover Survivor Series '94. As 1994 came to an end, the winds of change continued to sweep through the WWF and that was highly evident on a November evening in San Antonio. A better event than the year before, Survivor Series '94 featured the break-up of Shawn Michaels and Diesel, a feud that would extend all the way to WrestleMania XI. Meanwhile, Survivor Series '94 would see a shocking WWF Championship title change as Bob Backlund, with a huge assist from Owen Hart, would dethrone Bret "Hitman" Hart in an unforgettable, emotionally charged, and highly controversial match. Thanks to Bret's mother, Mr. Backlund became the oldest WWF Champion in history (at the time) and Owen Hart showed us all just how low he would stoop to screw his brother over. Add in some solid Survivor Series matches, a special appearance by Chuck Norris, and The Undertaker exacting a measure of revenge against Yokozuna and we are left with a very solid PPV to close out 1994! We have all the details for you here, on another epic installment of the Big Five Project.About the Chairshot Radio NetworkCreated in 2017, the Chairshot Radio Network presents you with the best in wrestling and wrestling crossover podcasts, including POD is WAR, Women's Wrestling Talk, Chairshot Radio daily editions, The #Miranda Show, Badlands' Wrestling Mount Rushmores, The Outsider's Edge, DWI Podcast, Bandwagon Nerds, the Greg DeMarco Show, 3 Man Weave, Five Rounds, Turnbuckle Talk, The Reaction, Attitude Of Aggression, and more! Wrestlemania XI - When you have a legacy now at 40, you would be hard pushed to hit a home run every year. For every Wrestlemania 17 there is a Wrestlemania 9, for every Wrestlemania 20 there is a Wrestlemania 32....but one without comparasion may just be Wrestlemania XI. A Wrestlemania where it very much felt that wrestling got in the way, a Wrestlemania headlined by Football versus Wrestling, on a wrestling show, where wrestling.....lost!That though is just part of the story, as top stars Bret Hart and The Undertaker have arguably their worst Mania matches ever. This is a Wrestlemania that stands out for all the wrong reasons, and we are here for it! It's Wrestlemania XI and somebody had very much better call creative!Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/better-call-creative-wrestling-podcast--3014789/support.

Kris and David are guestless as we discuss the week that was March 22-28, 1995.We start off with the WWF, as WrestleMania XI is around the corner, so we talk about the go-home Raw, which was an interesting show as it featured just one match and was largely a clip show hyping up Mania. We talk about the weird booking at this time, as well, as there were more intriguing matches and angles on TV than the ones featuring the same wrestlers at Mania. Then we go international, where Dave Meltzer is in Japan again, but the focus is on the big All Japan Women show at Yokohama Arena, where Manami Toyota won the WWWA Title from Aja Kong in the main event. Dave also attended other shows, as well and we have the reviews of those, plus all the other news and views from Japan, Mexico, and more.Next we go back to the United States, where we talk about some funky indie shows in the Northeast, John Arezzi trying to get AAA back on American PPV without WCW's help, Al Snow and Unabomb cosplaying as the Rock 'n' Roll Express on SMW TV, Marcus Dupree making an impact on Memphis TV, and lots more. Then we close with WCW, where Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair are having major issues both on and off TV as the power structure of the company is changing by the minute, and on TV, we have Lord Steven Regal trying to turn Bobby Eaton into a Blue Blood, plus lots more. This is an extremely fun show, so check it out!!!!Timestamps:0:00:00 WWF0:49:05 Japan: AJPW, NJPW, WAR, BJPW, FMW, Michinoku Pro, W*ING, West Japan, & Dave Meltzer at AJW's Yokohama Arena show 1:32:51 Other North America: CRMW, AAA, CMLL, Monterrey, & Tijuana1:50:36 Classic Commercial Break1:53:24 Halftime2:41:26 Other USA: CenturyWA, USofA, ESW (Long Island), NWANJ, ECW, John Arezzi, Steel City, MEWF, CAPW, MTW, SMW, USWA, & NWA Dallas3:35:54 WCW4:08:31 Patreon Preview: Bruce Mitchell on Paul Heyman and Eddie Gilbert working promoters and reportersTo support the show and get access to exclusive rewards like special members-only monthly themed shows, go to our Patreon page at Patreon.com/BetweenTheSheets and become an ongoing Patron. On this episode of The Lawcast our hosts relive Wrestlemania XI.
Our Wrestlemania series rolls on with Wrestlemania XI, the night where WWE welcomed NFL star, Lawrence Taylor to the fold for a match against Bam Bam Bigelow. LT wasn't the only mainstream star on the show however, as Pamela Anderson was also lined up for the big event, along with a number of other celebrities as the company seemed to put more focus on the contingent of 'famous people' than the actual card. Among the rest of the matches, Diesel defended the WWE Title against former best friend, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart battled Bob Backlund in a rematch from Survivor Series 1994, and Undertaker continued his war with the Million Dollar Corporation by facing King Kong Bundy. The Random Wrestling Review is brought to you this week by Tom, Matt and Tinky.
Historically speaking, the year 1995 was the lowest year for the then World Wrestling Federation in terms of monetary value and the quality of the wrestling presented. Evidence of the low work rate were the big 5 PPVs of that year, and if you don't believe that, the guys will tell you so as they watched all 5 PPVs and are bringing you a comprehensive recap of that year's Royal Rumble, WrestleMania XI, King Of The Ring, Summerslam, and Survivor Series. Along with that segment, here's what's to come on this week's episode: - News and Notes gives an update on participants in this past week's Rampage opening match, an injury update for an AEW star, a former WWE Superstar was announced for a major International championship tournament plus other news - New Japan Recap gives a health update for a recent returned Junior Heavyweight plus looks back at show #3 of the Fighting Spirit Unleashed tour on STRONG and a return to live televised action on the Burning Spirit tour in Japan plus a look ahead to the final show of that tour, which is headlined by 3 championship matches - Week in Review looks back at the go-home edition of Impact Wrestling ahead of Victory Road, continued build to Extreme Rules on Raw and Smackdown, the push for a new champion in NXT, AEW's visit to New York with Dark Elevation, Dynamite & Rampage Grand Slam, plus Dark back at Universal Studios. - Final Thoughts: Sith reveals what was missing for the WWE back in the mid-90s that could have helped to improve the on-screen product while Champ has a revelation regarding modern-day gamers Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NoSpotsPod Follow us on Twitter: @TruNoSpotsPod Subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHGYRJVH8MB90IPcxKVY6Yg/ Follow Us On Twitch: https://twitch.tv/trunospotspod Leave us questions/comments here: https://anchor.fm/no-spots-podcast/message Follow us on TikTok: @TruNoSpotsPod

It certainly was The Usual Suspects in the two World Title matches on this show, but they were so, so good! While Triple H, John Cena, & Randy Orton fought in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Title, the Undertaker and Edge competed for the World Heavyweight Title and to see whose WrestleMania undefeated streak would stay alive. World Champion boxer, Floyd "Money" Mayweather, also steps foot into the squared circle to take on the Big Show in the biggest celebrity WrestleMania match since Lawrence Taylor battled Bam Bam Bigelow in the main event of WrestleMania XI. On top of all that, "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair put his illustrious, legendary, Hall of Fame career on the line against "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels in a match that will live on in the hearts and minds of wrestling fans for eternity. In the news and notes, the Marks (Troy & Greg) discuss the pathetic lows that TNA sunk to during this time, some hilarious injuries that happened on live TNA pay-per-view, and a legend announcing his return to the ring......in the NWA......in 2008. This includes revealing our full schedule of podcasts, three of them in total, which will drop over the next week starting on Tuesday night. On This week's Something To Wrestle With Bruce Prichard, Bruce and Conrad discuss the 1995 Royal Rumble! Hear all about the Rumble in the "New Generation" era! Opening the show was one of the great sleeper matches in WWE history, as Razor Ramon defends the Intercontinental Championship against Jeff Jarrett! In a tournament final to crown new WWE Tag Team Champions, The 1-2-3 Kid and Bob Holly faced and defeated Bam Bam Bigelow and Tatanka to win the titles, which sent a raging Bigelow after Lawrence Taylor in a post match brawl that sets up the Wrestlemania XI main event! And finally, the Rumble match itself, which showcases Shawn Michaels, but includes regular top names like The British Bulldog, Owen Hart, King Kong Bundy, Lex Luger, The Smoking Gunns, Crush, Bob Backlund and more!
