This is a SAMPLE version of the episode, access the full episode via patreon.com/nicemangos *** Join me for an unexpected but fascinating chat that arose from the previous panel episodes on Germany, Identity & Palestine. I knew that one of my panelists (Claus) had been raised far-right and since shed those beliefs, but I had no idea just *how* far-right … Strap yourselves in for a very wild, rollercoaster of a conversation. Major CONTENT WARNING: There's talk of bigotry, nazi cults, smuggling, murder, suicide, white supremacy, and more horrific stuff. So please proceed with caution. We discuss the skeptic scene and how rapidly it's devolved, Michael Shermer in particular comes up. I also try to gauge and assess just how fashy Claus's upbringing was, was it overtly and explicitly fash, was it IDWesque in trying to mask the bigotry… or was it a bit of both? Claus peels back the layers and helps us understand what got him out of that bigoted worldview, what kind of damage it did to the people around him, and how he sees echoes of it in present day culty, conspiracist circles. —— Links Eric Ludendorff: “The Nazis distanced themselves from Ludendorff because of his eccentric conspiracy theories In 1926, Ludendorff divorced Margarethe Schmidt and married his second wife Mathilde von Kemnitz (1877–1966). He is the son of Don Black, founder of the Stormfront online community, and godson of former Ku Klux Klan Grand Wizard David Duke. He was jailed several times: in Canada for publishing literature "likely to incite hatred against an identifiable group", and on charges of being a threat to national security; in the United States, for overstaying his visa; and in Germany for charges of "inciting racial hatred". They offer practical insights on guiding mentees to excel in surgery and life. This podcast sheds light on how mentorship can shape future surgeons into not only skilled professionals but also emerging leaders.

Vic touches on a lot of things with Micheal. He might have forgotten to focus on careers but who ever said Vic can focus.

Rav Zundel Kroizer (1923-2014) was one of the last of the greats of the Old Yishuv of Yerushalayim. A member of a large and important Yerushalmy family, his ancestors and family members included many rabbis and activists who influenced the life of the Holy City over the generations. Renowned for his diligence, he authored a multi volume work on the entire gamut of Torah scholarship entitled Ohr Hachama. For most of his life he served as an educator for cheder children. In his later years he served as a beacon of light for all who knew him and had the privilege to bask in his presence, a throwback to purity and holiness of the ancient Yerushalayim.
Fieldwire's CEO, Yves Frinault, speaks with Chris Zundel, the Senior Project Manager at ACCO Engineered Systems, about his professional journey from the Navy to Construction, and what it takes to be a great leader regardless of the industry you're in.

Catherine Mattice Zundel, founder of Civility Partners, discusses the impact that discord in the workplace can have when an owner is trying to sell.
According to Christine Porath and Christine Pearson’s polling of thousands of workers over 14 years, 98% have experienced uncivil behavior. It’s not hard to imagine incivility when every day examples are interrupting co-workers, sarcasm and a rude email. Simply put, incivility leaves the recipient feeling devalued and disrespected. The truth is that we can’t always blame it on other people who are uncivil. We all contribute, whether we’re the ones actually doing it or as a bystander. All it takes is a little rudeness and sarcasm and you’re there. The scary thing is that if incivility goes unchecked it can lead to bullying. As today’s guest Catherine Mattice Zendel tells us, 99% of bullying scenarios start out as incivility that goes unchecked. Catherine, founder of Civility Partners, is a Strategic HR Consultant who assists organizations in building positive cultures through HR practices. In this interview, Catherine tells us what led her to start her company, she explains the spectrum of bad behavior (where incivility and bullying falls), what causes bullying and why these behaviors go unchecked. She explains the many ways organizations can make more civil workplaces and leaves us with what we can do as wellness pros to contribute. In this episode, we explore the real problem of workplace bullying. A shocking number of employees have experienced bullying and even more have witnessed it. The problem has a powerful effect on employees and therefore on organizations, including everything from engagement and retention to damaging a company’s culture. How organizations deal with bullying plays a critical role in whether that damage done can be stopped and repaired or allowed to continue. Our guest, Catherine Mattice Zundel, MA, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, specializes in building positive cultures and confronting workplace bullying. For over a decade, she has assisted companies ranging from Fortune 500’s to mom and pop shops, as well as the military, nonprofits, and everything in between. She is a regular contributor to Forbes and has appeared on NPR and CNN, and in USA Today, Time, Psychology Today, and many other major news venues as an expert. She's also published many articles and is one of LinkedIn Learning’s course authors. Zundel strongly believes that bullying cannot end by just offering a training course. Listen to find out under what circumstances she would turn down an organization’s request to conduct anti-bullying training for its employees. Do you wonder if you are a bully? Here is Zundel's popular LinkedIn article, 14 Signs You Might Be Perceived as a Workplace Bully: http://bit.ly/2UqYImP Here are parts one and two of another interview with Zundel where we discuss the problem of bullying and some solutions: http://bit.ly/2D2XGTc http://bit.ly/2Ur38tJ

In September, the 10K crew went on location to the 2017 Ontario Universities’ Fair, to interview a dozen higher ed leaders about trends in innovation. Pierre Zundel has served as a university leader for almost a decade, first as President of the University of Sudbury (2009-2016), then as Provost and VP Academic at Laurentian University (2016-17), and since August 2017 as Laurentian’s Interim President. In this special bonus episode, edited to 8 minutes, Ken asks Pierre 3 key questions about higher ed innovation. Innovations at Laurentian? First and foremost, Laurentian has been a leader in introducing Indigenous content across the curriculum, has more than 25 indigenous faculty members, and a spectacular new Indigenous Sharing & Learning Centre. Laurentian has recently completed an ambitious renovation of more than 60 classrooms and labs, and created a new Welcome Centre to integrate student services. Laurentian excels at developing college pathways and partnerships, particularly with Cambrian College and Collège Boréal in Sudbury. The Decade Ahead? Over the next decade, Pierre predicts that all Canadian universities will be working to figure out the part they can play in reconciliation with Indigenous peoples. Moreover, universities will become more “porous,” with more community and industry connections, more work-integrated learning and co-op education – particularly in programs like the Arts, where co-op has been uncommon in the past. Pierre anticipates growth in student mental health programs, open textbooks, blended delivery, just-in-time tutoring, and predictive analytics based on “big data” to launch early interventions and student supports. Culture of Innovation? Pierre identifies 3 things campus leaders can do to foster a culture of innovation. 1) Firstly, leaders can showcase good innovative ideas or good attempts, whether successful or not. 2) Secondly, they can run interference, helping to create space for innovation by preventing resistance from shutting it down early. 3) And thirdly, leaders have to make it possible to fail, so that we learn from failed attempts instead of focusing on laying blame. Pierre emphasizes that universities may be “as conservative as cats” but they are also hugely creative places! Holocaust-denier Ernst Zundel deported from Canada to prison in Germany. When Ernst Zundel turned 19 in 1958, he moved to Canada to avoid Germany’s military conscription. He married in 1960 and had two sons. While professionally a graphic artist and printer, he published racist and anti-Semitic views under the pseudonym Christof Friendrich. He became involved in politics and at the federal level actually became a candidate for the leadership of the Liberal Party of Canada in 1967 (Pierre Trudeau was chosen). By 1977, he’d started Samisdat Publishers, creating pamphlets such as “The Hitler We Loved and Why” and “Did Six Million Really Die?” Zundel attempted to get a better foothold as a Canadian and applied for citizenship. However, in 1993 the government denied his application and after many appeals, Zundel lost that fight in 2000. During this time, the Canadian Human Rights Commission received a complaint that Zundel’s website was inciting hatred against Jews. Between 1996 and the decision in 2002, and after more appeals and motions than most thought possible, Zundel was ordered to cease and desist with his illegal website commentary. In 2001, Zundel moved to the United States saying he’d never “set foot in Canada again.” However, when the United States deported Zundel back to Canada the following year for violating his stay there, the Canadian government declared him a threat to national security and sought to deport him to Germany, where he was wanted for hate crimes. Many considered this approach a backhanded way for the government to rid itself of Zundel. However, the Supreme Court refused his appeal and on March 1, 2005, Zundel was deported to Germany. On February 15, 2007, the German government found Zundel guilty of inciting racial hatred and sentenced him to the maximum of five years. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
On the Sexplanations YouTube channel there are three episodes about HIV which I’m really proud of. As someone who served as the the HIV prevention coordinator of an AIDS council doing what I can to encourage that people get tested and protect themselves is important to me. To revisit those episodes on the podcast I invited Jennie who does a version now of what I did ten years. She walks us through the latest on prevention, discusses some of the misinformation still being passed around, and gives us a quiz on our knowledge of the virus. Note at one point she refers to an activist named Kerry Washington. She meant Kerry Thomas. Thanks for staying curious with us on the Sexplanations, I’m still learning.
Lives of Adventure: Stories of those who choose to live a life less common
Harald Zundel is a renowned adventure racer, ultra-runner, and all-around endurance junkie. Born in Germany, Harald came to the US for university and then joined the Navy. Early in his naval career he somewhat accidentally decided to become a navy seal. As if it’s easy, right? Harald did his first adventure race on a team with several other Navy Seals. They won that race and Harald was hooked on adventure racing. He became a professional adventure racer shortly after and spent nearly 8 years travelling and competing full-time before quitting the pro life and endurance sports altogether for a few years. But Harald is not one to take the relaxing path. More recently, he has gotten back into punishing, I mean, challenging himself by running extremely long distance races like the Barkley Marathons, the Bigfoot 200, and the Ultra trail du Mont Blanc. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/livesofadventure/message
Michael Rivero launched whatreallyhappened.com in 1993 after the Vince Foster "murder." Until late August 2010, Rivero ran the Whatreallyhappened radio show on GCN, airing six days a week. Rivero airs his show at Republic Broadcasting, running from 2.00 p.m. to 4.00 p.m. Central Time. Rivero was born and raised in New England farming country. Originally a child actor, Michael left film work after High School to follow a career in science, working for NASA on the Viking and Voyager projects, among others. Following the post-Apollo crash of the aerospace industry, Michael went back into film work arriving at the exact time Hollywood was beginning to employ more computers for visual effects; a classic case of being in the right place art the right time, with the right skills. Having paid for college as a professional stage magician, Michael brings an awareness of how an audience perceives what they see to his designs for visual effects. Michael lives in Hawaii with his wife Claire, a composer, where together they own a commercial production company specializing in music, Visual FX and supervision, commercial direction, industrial films, and computer animation. Michael Rivero Quotes "Truth needs no law to support it. Truth is self-evident to all. Truth withstands re-examination. Truth survives questions. Throughout history, from Galileo to Zundel, only lies and liars have resorted to the courts to enforce adherence to dogma." "If you cannot tell the difference between divine intervention and random stupidity, then there is for all intents and purposes no divine intervention." "The discouraging thing about fighting against war is that there is never going to be a time when you can say you have succeeded, only those times when you know you have failed."
