The first wave of free agency is over and we have a better picture of where the teams all stand. Laremy Tunsil is ripping bong hits in Washington, Justin Fields is leading the Jets (for now) and Seattle won the Sam Darnold sweepstakes. The moving pieces this time of year can be hard to keep track of, for example Davante Adams is the new Cooper Kupp, Cooper Kupp is the new Tyler Lockett, and Tyler Lockett is currently still available as a free agent. We'll make sure you We look at all the moves around the league, as well as who is available at each position if your team is still looking to bolster their roster. We also take a deeper dive on some of the more active teams this Free Agency, with deep dives on New England, Seattle and the New York Giants. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
FREE AGENCY PREVIEW The NFL never sleeps and our offseason schedule starts with our free agency. We assess the best free agents (and trade targets) available this year with headline players including Sam Darnold, Dre Greenlaw and a couple of Super Bowl winning Eagles defensive linemen. We also breakdown all the biggest extensions, tags and cuts made so far this offseason. We also look at the final few coaching and front office changes and pay homage to two offense line legends retiring as Zach Martin and Jason Peters move onto new endeavours. Expect the big moves to come quickly from here on out so make sure you are up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
The Eagles did not win the Superbowl, they dominated the Superbowl. They executed on both sides of the ball, held Kansas City scoreless for almost three full quarters and were much more dominant that the final score even suggests. We dive into the game, going quarter by quarter breaking down what went wrong for Mahomes and company, and what sling-shotted this Eagles team to victory. We also look at the halftime show (spoiler: we both loved it), what some of the upcoming changes will be for the two teams, and look at the news from around the league this week. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
SUPER BOWL PREVIEW The Super Bowl is here and the All Four Quarters breaks down what to expect in this year's tilt between the Chiefs and Eagles. How will Mahomes handle the dynamic Eagles defensive line and dissect Fangio's umbrella defense? Can Jones and the KC D-line keep Saquon in check and prevent the big plays to AJ Brown & Devonta Smith? How much of Not Like Us can Kendrick sneak into the halftime show. We breakdown these questions as more. We also breakdown the latest coordinator moves, controversies in Baltimore and New Orleans and our big Pro Bowl Games reviews. One game left and we are all excited so make sure you are up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things Super Bowl with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
Championship weekend is in the books, and we have our Superbowl 59 matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, but to get there they both had mountains to climb (even if one felt more like a gentle incline by the end). Jalen Hurts took off his knee brace and showed that the Philly attack is not just Saquon all the way (even if he did have three touchdowns) routing a Washington team that couldn't get out of its own way, turning the ball over four times in a 23-55 one sided affair. The Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes continued their postseason streak of crushing the Bill's dreams, as their defence stopped the Josh Allen led Bills in the dying minutes of the fourth quarter to secure their place in the Superbowl and keeping their dreams of a three-peat alive. The Bills fought admirably and looked to almost have the upper hand with three minutes on the clock and 3-point deficit with the ball in hand, but were unable to get the job done. After dissecting these games, we turn our attention to the Probowl and break down the rosters of both the AFC and NFC teams (or at least who was selected to play) and work out which side will emerge victorious from the sport's biggest game.
DIVISIONAL REVIEW + CONFERENCE PREVIEW The divisional round is over that means we enter the final four as the Commanders will face off against their division rivals the Eagles for the NFC and the Bills travel to Arrowhead to try and exercise some demons vs the Chiefs. We preview these cracking Conference Championship battles and give our predictions for who will meet in the Super Bowl. We also look back at the divisional round in our reviews where a calm Chiefs outlast (with some ref assistance?) an overwhelmed Texans team, the Commanders take command to eliminate the Lions thanks to dynamic Daniels play and exploiting the big Goff goofs, the Eagles survive the snow and pain to eliminate a feisty Stafford led Rams and the Ravens rue their mistakes as the Bills eke out a close win. We also analyze the big coaching moves this week including Ben Johnson jumping ship in-division to become the new Bears coach. So make sure you are up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
In a week of one-sided games, we saw all but one of the lower seeds eliminated in the wildcard. Sam Darold saw his career resurgent season come crashing down around him against a fired up LA Rams defence. Washington put it on the shoulders of their Rookie QB and overcame a feisty Tampa Bay Buccaneers team. Philly coasted to a win over the lumbering Green Bay Packers, Josh Allen's Bills destroyed the Broncos playoff dreams, Baltimore bullied Pittsburgh off the field with early 300 yards of rushing, and in an upset the Houston Texans found life (especially on defence) and intercepted Justin Herbert four times in their routing of the LA Chargers. Now we look to the best weekend of football, the Divisional Round! Kansas City and the Lions, fresh off their bye weeks return to the fray. We have the game of the year in the Ravens versus the Bills, two teams with a lot to prove in the playoffs. Can the Rams defence put the brakes on Hurts and company? Can Jayden Daniels and the commanders pull off another 4th quarter comeback against an injured Lions team? Can CJ Stroud and company surprise the Chiefs? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
WEEK 18 REVIEW + WILDCARD PREVIEW The regular season is over and that means the playoffs are here. We break down the Wildcard matchups and give our predictions of who will take one step closer to the Super Bowl. The end of the season also means the changes for the less successful teams as we break down the big changes at head coach and general manager in New England, Jacksonville and Tennessee. We also take one final look at the regular season with our Week 18 review as look at how the Lions secured the #1 seed by making Darnold see ghosts, how Bucs came back to secure the NFC South (and Mike Evans place in the record books), how the Bryce Young Panthers end on high with an OT shootout win vs the Penix Falcons, a ultimately futile grinding win for the Burrow's Bengals over the Steelers and Paradise Lost as Milton secures a win which costs the Patriots the #1 pick vs the Buffalo backups. Only 13 games left til the champion is crowned so make sure you are up to date with the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
It's the last week of games before the playoffs and were finally getting some clarity on what the playoff picture will look like. The Chiefs win over the Steelers locks up the top spot for them in the AFC, the Lions and the Vikings go head-to-head this week to decide who gets a bye from the NFC side. Baltimore and the Steelers are still fighting it out for the AFC North crown, and the NFC South is still for the taking by either the Buccaneers or the Falcons. Meanwhile Denver, Miami, and Cincinnati are in the hunt for a wildcard berth in the AFC. We look at all of week 17s games, then turn out attention to the big matchups in week 18 that will decide who we will be watching in January Playoff Football. You can almost taste it already. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
WEEK 16 REVIEW + WEEK 17 PREVIEW It's Christmas time and that can only mean one thing: NFL Football! In this festive Ronan-only episode, the Week 16 slate is reviewed with a special focus on barnburner victory for the Commanders over the Eagles and Herbert second half masterclass on TNF as the Chargers defeat their division and wildcard rival Broncos. We also breakdown the playoff picture entering Week 17 and preview the Week 17 slate including big matchups between the Chiefs and Steelers, Vikings and Packers + Falcons and Commanders. So make sure you are up to the date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL this festive season with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
WEEK 15 REVIEW + WEEK 16 PREVIEW Another big week as we approach the post-season but it was tough one for the Lions as they lose barnburner to the Bills to open up the #1 seed race in both conferences and also lose key players like Montgomery, McNeill and Davis for the season. We break down how the Lions might survive this attrition alongside a suspension for the DeVondre Campbell in San Fran, QB injuries to keep an eye on in Kansas and Seattl and surprise move to college coaching for Bill Belichick. In our Week 15 review we look at the aforementioned Lions-Bills barnburner, a dominating win for the Eagles as they win the Keystone state battle vs the Steelers, a grinding win to secure the AFC South for the Texans as their defense bullies Tua and the Dolphins and FG-only affair as the Rams take control of the NFC West by beating the 49ers. In the Week 16 preview we assess every game with a special focus on vital wildcard battle as the AFC West rival Chargers and Broncos face off on TNF and a Saturday night special as the Steelers and Ravens face off for AFC North domination. So make sure you are up to date with the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
Superstars had to step and up put their team on their backs as it was a week of playoff teams running into each other, and sparks were flying. Josh Allen threw for three touchdowns, and ran in three more, but he was unable to carry the Bills to victory over the LA Rams. The Detroit Lions went for it on 4th down with the game on the line to not let Jordan Love get the ball back in his hands. The Chiefs third string kicker doinked a field goal off the uprights to beat the Chargers at the buzzer; and the Seahawks popped a bottle of Charbonnet all over the moribund defence of the Arizona Cardinals. We look at all the games from week 15, then turn our attention to the matchups this weekend. The Bills travel to Detroit for a massive game for both teams' playoff seeding, Russell Wilson will lead the Steelers into the Eagles nest for the battle of Pennsylvania. The Dolphins look to keep their playoff hopes alive against a floundering, but now well rested, Houston Texans team. Brock Purdy and whomever they offer up as sacrifice to the RB gods are in a must win game against the suddenly red-hot LA Rams. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
SupEberflus to Requirements (WEEK 13 REVIEW + WEEK 14 PREVIEW) Thanksgiving is over but there were few thanks in Chicago as the Bear fire Head Coach Matt Eberflus as a botched late game sequence was the final act of a stint filled with bad mistakes, bad luck and bad offense. In our news section, we break down the Eberflus firing alongside a deserved suspension for Al-Shaair for his hit on Trevor Lawrence, the landing spot for Danny Dimes and the big injury wave hitting the 49ers, Lions and Saints. In our Week 13 review we break down a tough across conference battle as Saquon and the Eagles grind down the Ravens, a lucky escape for Bucs as they win in OT vs a spicy but unlucky Panthers outfit, a vital comeback for the Vikings as clutch Darnold play punishes the Cardinals redzone woes, a messy win for the Chargers as their defence causes a Cousins meltdown in Atlanta and a wild MNF where Jameis big plays for both sides were the difference as the Broncos escape with a win over the Browns. We also preview the Week 14 slate with a special focus on a vital TNF for the NFC North as the ascending Packers will hope they can pick off the Lions and their injury ravaged defense and big AFC West tilt as the Chiefs houdini act will hope to escape with another W vs a Chargers team full of grit but possibly running low on offensive juice. So make sure you are up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
It's Thanksgiving, so what are we thankful for? Heart attack inducing close wins for our own teams? Missed calls from the refs? I guess we are happy that Watson is out so there is that? Real football starts on Thanksgiving, but some teams don't appear to be giving it a full try. The Tanks Giving starts here. The Giants have benched, and release, Daniel Jones. The Raiders are onto their third string QB. The Browns are playing spoiler to teams that have playoff ambitions, and the Jets are, well, the Jets. We look at the games from last week, take in all the news from around the league, and look forward to next weeks matchups. A big week of games where Steelers can fully close the door on the Bengal's hopes, the Ravens take on the Eagles in a battle of the RBs, and the well-rested Bills get to host the 49ers. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
It's Joever (WEEK 11 REVIEW + WEEK 12 PREVIEW) The Jets disaster continues as they fire General Manager Joe Douglas. We break down what this means for the team and for Aaron Rodgers. We also cover the other big news including injuries for Nick Bosa and Alex Anzalone. In our Week 11 Review we analyse another heartbreaking Bears loss as blocked field goal secures Green Bay a tight win, a AFC North slugfest as the canny Steelers bear the brittle Ravens, the first Chiefs loss of the season as the Bills bully their way into contention for the #1 seed, a vital Seahawks win as Geno rush TD beats their division rival 49ers and a wild back and forth Sunday Night football as the Bungles waste a Chargering leaving Burrow's play off chances on life support. We also preview the Week 12 slate with a special focus on an NFC North battle as the Bears hope their salvage their season by beating a slowing Vikings team and a Monday Night Football Harbowl as the Harbaugh brothers duke it out as the Ravens travel to play the Chargers. So make sure you are up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
Week 10 is in the books and The Bears have decided enough is enough, it's time for a change. They've axed Shane Waldron, hoping to get their Offence back working. The Chiefs blocked a field goal to remain undefeated, Dak Prescott has checked out for the season with surgery leaving Cooper Rush vs Trey Lance, Trever Lawrence might be on the injury heap for the rest of the year, the Panthers won a terrible game in Germany and Pittsburgh trade for multiple players at the deadline to bolster a playoff bound Russel Wilson team? A lot is going on! We check in on all the week 9 games including Cincinnati's failed 2 point conversion to lose to the Ravens and the fighting on the sidelines in San Fransisco. We look forward to all the week 10 matchups including Chiefs at Bills, Washington at Philly, even *shudder* Houston at Dallas. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
WEEK 9 REVIEW + WEEK 10 PREVIEW We have passed the halfway point of the season and for some teams that means getting ready for big games and for others big changes with the season already lost. This week saw the Saints let beleagured Head Coach Dennis Allen go after seven straight losses and we evaluate the significant surgery needed to bring New Orleans back to life. We also look at the offensive coach clear out in Las Vegas, a offensive line trade by Minnesota and a big injury for Dak Prescott who will miss significant time for the floundering Cowboys. In our Week 9 review we look at how the Seahawks screwed themselves and let the solid Rams get a vital NFC West victory, assess how the Bills grabbed a close against type victory vs the improved Dolphins with dink & dunk offense and a big field goal, get ready for Jets hype as Rodgers magic and facing an awful offensive line beat the flailing Texans and a near meltdown for the Eagles as they nearly waste an epic Saquon (the backwards hurdle!) performance and let the Jags steal a win. We also preview the Week 10 slate with special attention on a fascinating challenge for rookie phenom Jayden Daniels as the hot Commanders face the fearsome Russ-led Steelers and an important mid-table bout as the Jets look to keep their playoff hopes alive vs the improved Cardinals. So make sure you are up to date with the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
Week 8 is in the books and the first round of Daniels versus Williams suggests the NFC might have some exciting young QBs facing off for the next couple of years. A last second Hail Mary saw the Commanders seal the deal against the Bears who had mounted a strong 4th quarter comeback. The Browns stopped starting Watson and started winning, as the Ravens fell short against their divisional rivals. Kansas City added DeAndre Hopkins, beat the Raiders, then traded for some pass rush help; and the Dolphins got Tua back, but is it too late for them to mount a challenge this year? We got through all the week 8 games in detail, then look forward to what will happen in the week 9 matchups including Detroit at Green Bay, Dallas at Atlanta and a Thursday Night Football matchup that sees Aaron Rodgers attempt to revive the Jets' season against an ailing Houston Texans squad that is now down Stefon Diggs too. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
We Men are Wretched Things (Week 7 Review + Week 8 Preview) It was an injury ravaged weekend of NFL action but no injury was as significant as the torn achilles of controversial Browns QB DeShaun Watson. We break down the implications for Watson and the Browns franchise both this season and in the seasons to come. We also assess the other major injuries to stars such as Aiyuk and Godwin plus look at a suspension for Jameson Williams, Buffalo's trade for Amari Cooper and the end of Reddick's Jets holdout. In our week 7 review we pore over a riveting back and forth NFC North battle as the Goff balls out to let the Lions pip the Vikings, assess a mad Jordan Love performance whose highs just about outweighed the lows vs a Texans team well able to run but struggling to pass, no Super Bowl revenge as the Chiefs defense break down a battered 49ers offense and Sunday night humiliation as defense, hard running and a solid Russell Wilson beat up Rodgers flailing Jets. We also preview each week 8 game with special attention on a cross-conference battle as the equally up and down Eagles and Bengals face off and a (hopefully) #1 vs #2 battle as the Caleb's Bears battle Daniels' Commanders. So make sure you are up to datee with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
Week 6 is in the books, and it was not the most compelling week of games. Daniels and the Washington Commanders showed their quality in a tight game against the Baltimore Ravens, but Lamar and company showed themselves to be a cut above. Baker Mayfield and Tampa Bay dropped a 50 burger on the Saints, the Bengals squeaked a win over the Giants to keep their season alive and Buffalo cemented their place atop the AFC East with a close win over the Rodger led Jets. But this has also meant a few teams are springing into action to try to improve their rosters, including a familiar face joining Rodgers in New Jersey… We go through all of last weeks games, then look forward to a very tasty week 6 slate including the Chiefs taking on the 49ers and Detroit traveling to Minnesota. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
LEAVING ON A JETS PLANE (WEEK 5 REVIEW + WEEK 6 PREVIEW) The NFL shocks continue with the big drama occuring off the field this week as the Jets fire Head Coach Robert Salah only 5 games into the season. We break down why it may have happened and what it means for Aaron Rodgers and the Jets for the rest of the season. In our Week 5 review we look at each game with special attention for how Lamar magic took down a Bengals team creating its own bad luck and how the Cardinals shocked the 49ers thanks to a solid 2nd half performance. We also preview every Week 6 game with a focus on a Thursday night NFC West tilt as the flawed 49ers and Seahawks fight it out, the Battle of the Beltway as the hot Commanders face a big challenge in the Ravens and a NFC showdown as the Lions look to come off their bye with a win over the ailing Cowboys. The NFL is always surprising us so make sure you have all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
Week 4 is in the books and has left a few fans wondering how their team is going to shake out this season. Derrick Henry racked up over 200 yards in the Raven's demolition of the Bills, but should the Buffalo faithful be worried? Sam Darnold led the Vikings to a victory over the Packers in a game that was in hand, until it wasn't in the 4th quarter, but should cheeseheads be down in the dumps? The Chiefs are 4 and 0, but have lost another player to injury, can this offence last the season at this rate? We look at all of last weeks games, preview all the week 5 matchups, and look forward to the AFQ trip to London to see Aaron Rodger's Jets take on Sam Darnold's Vikings. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
It's Week 3, and like many a recent season, we have very little sense of who's good and who's a fraud. The 49ers might be frauds, based on their collapse against the injury-hit Rams. The Bengals, who dropped to 0-3 after their defense was completely incapable of stopping the Jayden Daniels-inspired Commanders offense, probably are frauds. As for the Chiefs, who stumbled past the Falcons, and the Lions, who looked solid against the Cardinals, the AFQ boys are a little more upbeat. Andy Dalton's performance against the Raiders suggests that Bryce Young at least is a fraud; and the Eagles and Saints' offensive struggles against each other asks many fraud-related questions too. We break down all the action from Week 3, focusing on those six games. We also look at the recent news, from Derwin James's suspension to the latest collection of players added to the league-wide injury crisis. In our Week 4 previews, we focus on a big NFC North battle between the surprising Vikings and the impressive Packers, another potential pasting for the Jags as they travel to the hurting Texans, and a big test for the impressive Bills as they host the always dangerous Ravens. All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions, the All Four Quarters podcast!
WEEK 2 REVIEW + WEEK 3 PREVIEW We are only two weeks into the season but NFL chaos is already in full swing as the Panthers new coach Dave Canales makes his first "big boy" move as he benches 2023 #1 overall pick Bryce Young for the veteran Andy Dalton after two ugly blowouts. We break down this decision and also review injury omnishambles hitting the NFL with a special focus on the Dolphins, Rams, Chiefs and 49ers. We review the Week 2 slate as the Chiefs sneak an ugly win over a desperate Bengals, the Baker's Bucs shake off a mistake-prone Lions, Cousins gets his cool back leading a Falcons comeback over the Eagles, Geno's poise lets the Seahawks pip the Patriots in OT, Carr & Kamara excel as the Saints march all over the Cowboys and the Darn-aissance continues as the Vikings send the 49ers back to Skol. We also preview the entire Week 3 slate where we highlight the next big test for Vikings Miracle as they face off against DeMeco Ryan's Texans with their phenom QB CJ Stroud, an NFC battle as Detroit and Goff look to get back on track vs Kyler's fun Cardinals and a last stand game for the Jags as try to hold off a hot Bills team on the road. The season is only new but already so much to talk about so make sure you have all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
Week one is in the books and what a big one it was! The Patriots took it to the Joe Burrow led Bengals in the upset of the week, Aaron Rodgers still has two functioning legs (to our knowledge), the Chiefs won the rematch of the AFC Championship due to a Raven's players big toe, and the 49ers got their run game reestablished by feeding Jordan Mason. We chop up all the news from around the league, the impact of Love's injury for the Packers, are the Dolphins to be trusted this season and is Joe Burrow washed? We review all the week 1 games and look forward to the week 2 matchups, telling you who will win and why. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The wait is finally over – AFQ Season 10 is here! (And, coincidentally, the new NFL season is here too.) We put our prophesizing hats on and cast our gaze towards the coming season, to let you know who's going to live up to the hype and who's about to crash and burn. Is this the season Garrett Wilson rises to full-on superstar status? Has the Jim Harbaugh hype reached unsustainably nauseating levels? And are we really about to witness a fairytale Detroit Lions Super Bowl-winning season? In catching up on all the pre-season news, we bid farewell to Big Dick Nick, discuss whether Brandon Aiyuk is worth ‘Top 5 WR' money, and wonder if the NFL opening the door to private equity money is a poisoned chalice or simply a way to get cash injections into the poorer teams in the league. We finish by previewing the Week 1 action. We focus on a tasty opening game, as the dominant Chiefs begin their hunt for the three-peat against their bested AFC rivals the Baltimore Ravens; the first NFL game to take place in Brazil, as the Green Bay Packers seek to continue their late-season momentum against the ailing but still dangerous Philadelphia Eagles; and a rare Detroit-hosted Sunday Night Football game, where the Lions and Rams renew their simmering rivalry. All this and much, much more in your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
NFC WEST PREVIEW Our offseason division previews come to a close as we look at the NFC West. Can the Rams continue to surprise and contend for the division despite losing Aaron Donald and Raheem Morris? Will the Cardinals be able to build on their late promise after Kyler's return last season? How will Kyle Shanahan rebuild confidence in his talented 49ers team after another heartbreaking Super Bowl loss? And what can the 12s expect from a young Mike McDonald lead coaching ticket after the Seahawks moved on from the Pete Carroll era? With our previews complete we will take a small break before coming back to preview Week 1 of the 2024/25 season and celebrate our 10th season of the podcast so make sure to enjoy your summer before another season of the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
The more things change the more they stay the same, this is true for at least half of the NFC South as AFQ takes a look at the Falcons, Saints, Panthers and Buccaneers. The Falcons are the biggest changeup, new coach in Raheem Morris, new QB in Kirk Cousins; but potential controversy with Michal Penix Jr. being drafted as the heir apparent to their $200 million QB that has yet to take a snap? The Panthers are hoping to turn around the fortunes of last year's top draft prospect Bryce Young. They've got him a QB friendly coach in Dave Canales, a possible WR1 in Xavier Legette, and about 15 new linemen to try to keep him upright. Have they done enough to turn the corner? The Buccaneers are big fans of their own work from before and would like more of it please. Even though they barely scraped into the post-season and have a roster that feels more 2019 than 2024, they're running back Baker, Evans, Godwin and the gang. They've shown they've got the recipe for mild success; they are happy with mild success it seems; but they've got to hope those ingredients haven't gone a bit stale. The Saint are definitely stale. An aging roster with a mid-at-best QB, talent that is long in the tooth and cresting if not already over the hill, a lack of vision from the coaching staff, and several players penciled in as starters that may not be ready to go come September. That said, they have no money so cannot be blamed entirely for the lack of innovation, and have brought in some interesting pieces to the defensive side of the ball (Willie Gay, Chase Young etc), but can that be enough? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
Who would win in a fight, a bear or a lion? How about a Viking versus a… factory worker? All Four Quarter's offseason division previews turn to the NFC North this week where for a bunch of cold weather teams, things are really heating up. Dan Campbell's lions came just short of the Superbowl last year and have locked down their in-house talent to take another run at it. Standing in their way are the end of year upstarts from last season, the Jordan Love led Packers. They surprised a few teams in the playoffs last year, but will people see them coming this time around? The Bears are in full hype mode with the second coming of Jesus Christ in QB form, Caleb Willliams. They've paired him with Rome Odunze and Keenan Allen in hopes that he can hit the ground running in year one. The Vikings may have lost Kirk Cousins in the offseason, but they feel that Justin Jefferson could catch the ball from just about anyone, so Sam Darnold will test that theory until JJ McCarthy is deemed starter (spoiler, we think it might be early on). All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
NFC EAST PREVIEW All Four Quarter's offseason division previews continue as we move onto the NFC and we start with the media's favourite division: the NFC East. Can Dan Quinn take command of Washington team with a rookie QB and an overhauled roster, how hot is Sirianni's Eagles seat after last season's collapse led to big coaching and roster changes, will Daboll be able to extract enough from Danny Dimes to keep the Giant's afloat and what can we expect from the Cowboys after their "all-in" off-season of minimal change as some big contracts are coming due? We also cover the Trevor Lawrence extension and the Falcons Kirk Cousins tampering punishment so make sure you have access to all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
AFC WEST PREVIEW After three weeks of slogging through the AFC divisionals, we finally reach Conor's favourite pod of the year: his chance to talk up the Chiefs and hurl fiery invectives at their rivals in the AFC West. We break down all four teams, three of whom seem to be in a state of constant transition. Can the Broncos possibly win 8 games again with the worst QB room in NFL history? Will Jim Harbaugh overcome the cursed Chargers aura through sheer force of will? Will the Raiders ever amount to anything more than a prison for the talent of Maxx Crosby and Davante Adams? And can anything stop the Chiefs from winning it all again? All this and much, much more in your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
THE SOUTH SHALL RISE AGAIN (AFC SOUTH PREVIEW) Our divisional previews reach the AFC South this week, a previously dull as dishwater division that has been transformed into a quartet of exciting projects built around exciting young QBs (and Will Levis). The AFQ boys break down their thoughts and predictions for all four teams. Will the Titans at least become a more interesting watch during the Brian Callahan era as they pivot away from Derrick Henry towards a new-look offence? The Colts have the hype, the talent and the coaching, but can it all come together and can Anthony Richardson stay healthy long enough for his potential to be realised? After breaking free of their history and becoming playoff contenders, can the Jags figure out how to take the next step forward and help Trevor Lawrence become the superstar he has always threatened to be? And can last year's surprise package Houston Texans keep the party going with CJ Stroud feeding an immensely talented WR corps and a fun but inexperienced defensive unit continuing its evolution? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
AFC North Preview Our offseason division by division previews continue and this week we visit the tough, inhospitable climes of the AFC North. We consider if a Browns team can avoid getting stuck in the mud as they carry the legacy of the DeShaun Watson trade, evaluate if some OL reinforcements can keep Burrow healthy long enough to take advantage of the Chase/Higgins tandem, debate if Lamar has enough to take the Ravens to the Super Bowl after a tough conference loss and an offseason of offensive line and defensive coach turnover and puzzle over how the Steelers will inevitably finish over .500 as Russell Wilson, Justin Fields and Arthur Smith attempt to rebuild their reputations. Summer is underway but get a sneak preview of winter football ahead with all the needed views, news and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
AFC EAST PREVIEW We are deep in the offseason as OTAs and minicamps are underway but that doesn't mean we can't wildly speculate about what might happen in September when the NFL season returns. To that effect, the AFQ Podcast is starting its annual division by division previews starting with the AFC East. We also cover the biggest extensions, moves and retirements since our last podcast. We dig into the Bills 2.0 project and whether it will be a rebuild or a reload around Josh Allen, delve into the potential limits of a Dolphins team doubling down on a speed first approach in a hardening league, vary wildly in how well the second go around with Aaron Rodgers could go for a Super Bowl or bust Jets team and pore over the potential of a rebuilding roster as Jerod Mayo attempts to fill the very big shoes of the Bill Belichick in New England. So make sure you get ahead of the crowd by starting your NFL prep early with all the news, views and overreactions you expect from the All Four Quarters Podcast!s
No need to watch the draft on Thursday night, we've already worked out where everyone is going! Following on from our review of the draft prospects we let you know every pick of the first round, who will be trading up or down (and sometimes both) and who your team are going to pick up for next season. Who will land Marvin Harrison Jr.? Will Caleb Williams be Chi-towns new hero? Who will trade the farm for JJ McCarthy? Will Cooper DeJean prove that white men can jump (up draft boards)? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
Draft day is here and there's no Kevin Costner to walk you through it, but that's ok. The AFQ boys are back with an episode going through all the top prospects in this year's NFL draft. Do you know your Drake Mayes from your JJ McCarthys? Are you unsure if Joe Alt is a superstar lineman or a fascist movement online? Do you think that Kool-Aid is just a drink and not the next big thing at cornerback? We've got you covered. We go position by position, telling you what the strengths and weaknesses of the first-round prospects are and where they might fit well. We let you know the knocks on them coming out of college so you can make fun of your buddies' team for drafting the wrong defensive lineman or missing on a sure thing WR. We'll tell you everything you want to know but couldn't be arsed to go and research yourself. We also cover news from around the league, Rashee Rice's legal issues, and look at the players that have signed fat contracts. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
IN TOMLIN WE TRUST? (FREE AGENCY REVIEW) It's free agency season in the NFL and teams have been scrambling to fill gaps in their rosters and load up on valuable talent. Well, that's the theory anyway. The AFQ boys break down all the big moves and questionable decisions and ponder how it will impact the NFL landscape going forward. As well as a position-by-position breakdown, we focus on the actions of three teams in particular: - The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a big change to their QB room, getting rid of Kenny Pickett to bring in both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Will this gamble pay off, or will the old saying that having two starting QBs mean you have no starting QBs come to pass? - The Tennessee Titans have entered the Brian Callahan era with a bang, bringing in skill players Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard on the offensive side and loading up on big names defensively, including a tasty-looking CB pair. In an increasingly competitive AFC South, will this be enough to make the Titans relevant, or at least an interesting watch? - The New York Jets are firmly in win-now mode, adding a slew of O-line talent to protect Aaron Rodgers' vulnerable Achilles as well as a new weapon in Mike Williams. Can the Jets escape the gravity of their own chaos to be competitive this year, or will the Jets inevitably be the Jets? We also take a look at other recent NFL news, focusing on the rule changes recently approved by the owners. The new kickoff rules sound unnecessarily complex, but will they result in more successful returns or just messy scrums on the 30-yard line? The hip swivel tackle has been banned, but will this make tackling impossible in the NFL and how will close cases be interpreted? All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
FREE AGENCY PREVIEW With Super Bowl 58 in the rear view mirror, the long hard work of unseating the Chiefs begins with off-season's opening salvo of free agency. We breakdown all the biggest names coming to the market position-by-position including Kirk Cousins, Christian Wilkins and Saquon Barkley and also break down the potential trade market for players such as Justin Fields. We also review the pre-FA action including the nine tagged players, a big extension for Mike Evans to stay with the Bucs and the official release of Russell Wilson by Denver. We also find time for the other news including a new DC in San Francisco, a costly PED suspension for Jimmy G and the retirement of special teams ace Matthew Slater. An exploding cap means plenty of action so make sure you are prepped for this season's free agency and trade frenzy with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
The Chiefs land their third Super Bowl of the Mahomes era, their first back to back one, and the question remains; who can beat the Chiefs? We delve into the game, what matchups were key, the coaching decisions that won and lost the game and what should have been different. We also look at what this means for both teams next season, and what other teams around the league should be looking to do to overcome this new dynasty in the AFC. We also discuss other news from around the league, coaching hires and what to look forward to in the offseason ahead. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
It's the most important pod of the year – the Pro Bowl Review. The AFQ boys break down the highlights and lowlights of the biggest weekend in the NFL calendar, from Tua's underwhelming passing to Brandon Aubrey being screwed over by the Kick-Tack-Toe judges. We also mourn the demise of the glory days of the Pro Bowl, when the game itself mattered and the team that won it actually won the Pro Bowl. Needing to fill the rest of our time, the guys then turn to preview some obscure game called the ‘Super Bowl', contested this year by the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Can the Chiefs offense succeed against a high-calibre defense without leaning too heavily on the lesser lights of their disappointing receiver corps? Can Brock Purdy be relied on to step up if the 49ers offensive game is placed on his shoulders? And how jetlagged will Taylor Swift be if she manages to turn up to cheer on Travis? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
CONFERENCE REVIEW + PRO BOWL PREVIEW The Super Bowl matchup is set as the Kansas City Chiefs will take on the San Franciso 49ers for NFL supremacy in two weeks. We breakdown how both teams made it with the Chiefs building on a hot start and elite defense to take out a Ravens team unable to get out of its own way while the 49ers pull off a huge comeback as the Lions suffer a third quarter meltdown as they rue some key mistakes at the worst times. We also breakdown the latest significant coordinator changes and give an overview of the second edition of the Pro Bowl Games as well as providing our alternative Pro Bowl rosters. So with the Super Bowl in sight make sure you are up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
Championship week is here, and there are a few familiar faces as well as some new ones. The Chiefs went into Buffalo and brought more heartbreak to the Bills with wide right making an appearance in the 4th quarter. The 49ers snook a win away from the Packers with Jordan Love throwing a heartbreaking (and completely unnecessary) pick. The Lions took care of business against Baker and the Buccaneers but suffered some injuries on their O Line. The Ravens looked every inch the 1 seed in the AFC, easily displacing the young Texans team led by Stroud. We dig through the games in depth, seeing why certain teams came up short and what it means for the Championship round. Because now we have two monster matchups this weekend to decide who makes it to Superbowl LVIII. The resurgent Chiefs take on the dominant Ravens in Baltimore. The Upstart Lions take on the behemoth 49ers in Levi's stadium. We break down the matchups, strengths, and weaknesses of each game, letting you know what will decide each contest and what players to watch out for this weekend. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The playoffs are where the wheat is separated from chaff and, oh boy, was there ever some chaff to be culled this year. The AFQ boys break down the (not so Super) Wild Card Weekend action, laughing at the Cowboys and Eagles, cooing over the potentialities of the Texans and Packers, and being very grateful that we don't live in Buffalo or Kansas City at this time of year. We also break down the latest news, including the beginning of the offseason coaching carousel, with the Pats taking a gamble on the well-regarded but horribly inexperienced Jerod Mayo and big interviews announced for the Chargers and Falcons head coaching positions. We then turn to preview the Divisional Round, perhaps the most consistently enjoyable weekend on the NFL calendar. Can CJ Stroud figure out how to unlock the complexities of the Ravens' defensive scheming? Do the promising Packers have enough to overcome the uber-talented 49ers? Will the Bucs find themselves out of their depth against the resurgent Lions? And will this finally be the year the Bills take down the Kansas City Chiefs? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
WEEK 18 REVIEW + WILDCARD PREVIEW The regular season is over and for the successful few that means playoff football but for those less lucky it often means big changes. However, this week saw an unprecedented shift in the NFL landscape as multiple legendary coaches saw their tenures end. Bill Belichick's 24 year tenure ends after 6 Super Bowls but little success post-Brady. Pete Carroll's Seahawks run over after 14 seasons which included Seattle's first Super Bowl win. Plus a surprise departure for Mike Vrabel from the Titans and more widely predicted firings for Arthur Smith from the Falcons and Ron Rivera from the Commanders. We breakdown all of these big changes plus the other GM and coordinator changes. We also breakdown the final week of regular season action with special attention on classic Bills bullshit comeback to seize the AFC East on Sunday Night Football, a Stroud masterclass as the Texans take a playoff spot away from a Colts team who fell one 4th&1 drop short, one last ride for the Vrabel Titans as they bounce a woeful Jaguars from the playoffs and an impressive Jordan Love showing to propel the Packers into the playoffs and leave the Bears with some big off-season decisions. We preview the Wildcard round including the DeShaun Watson Bowl (not featuring DeShaun Watson) where Houston's rookie sensation Stroud travels to Cleveland to try and slay Elite Dragon Flacco's Browns, the Bills try to banish their home playoff blues by taking the blue collar run heavy Steelers, the ailing Dolphins seek to stay alive vs the underwhelming Chiefs in a freezing Arrowhead, Jared Goff seeks revenge and to bring joy to Ford Field as they face off against Stafford's Rams and miserable Monday night game as the spiralling Eagles take on an ailing Baker and his Bucs. So with many teams looking for new directions after long periods of stability and whole month of playoff action to come, make sure you are up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
It's the last week of the regular season and teams are out there fighting for their lives. Sure, the 49ers and Ravens have locked up the top spots, but what about the other 12 playoff positions? Buffalo takes on Miami on Sunday Night Football in a game that could see them as the 2nd seed in the AFC, or out of the playoffs entirely! Jacksonville needs to beat Tennessee to lock up a postseason ticket, but if they fall the winner of Houston at Indianapolis steals that place away from them. Tampa Bay needs to get past the struggling Carolina Panthers to win their division, otherwise the winner of Atlanta at New Orleans gets a trip to the knockouts. Green Bay, Seattle, Minnesota, and Pittsburgh are all still live, and it all comes down to week 18. We talk last weeks games, we talk playoffs, we talk injuries, we talk Tyreek Hill mob intimidation. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The last time the Detroit Lions won their division, not only did the NFC North not yet exist, but neither did Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You". A simpler time, perhaps a better time. The AFQ boys celebrate the historic achievement of Dan Campbell's boys by breaking down the ins and outs of their crucial victory over the Minnesota Vikings. In our survey of the Week 16 action, we also look at the Miami Dolphins finally beating a good team (maybe), the Baltimore Ravens laying down a marker as best team in the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs' embarrassing loss that confirms they are anything but. We also preview the Week 17 fare, focusing on the Lions' trip to Arlington to face the Cowboys, the Dolphins' and Ravens' big game to decide the AFC's #1 seed, and the crucial moment in Mike Tomlin's quest to finish every season above .500 as he takes his Steelers to Seattle to tackle the Seahawks. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
WEEK 15 REVIEW + WEEK 16 PREVIEW It is the festive season but for Brandon Staley there will be little festive joy and he and long-term General Manager Tom Telesco were dismissed after an embarrassing TNF beatdown. We review the ups and (many high profile) downs of the Staley era and assess what interest there will be in Chargers team with Justin Herbert but not much else. We also breakdown the other big news stories of the week including a defensive change in Philadelphia, the latest big injuries and the announcement that the NFL will be travelling to Brazil in 2024. In our Week 15 review, we give special attention to a new James Cook heavy Buffalo playbook as they dominated Dallas in every facet and a shock Seattle win as Drew Lock leads a two minute drive to send the flailing Eagles to a third consecutive loss. We also preview Week 16 with a detailed breakdown of a vital AFC playoff bubble game as the wily Flacco and his Browns look to take down the exciting youth driven Texans, a huge inter-conference battle as the Cowboys look to get back on track in sunny Miami vs the ever explosive Dolphins and an epic Christmas night treat as the #1 AFC and NFC seed face off in a Super Bowl XLVII rematch of Lamar's Ravens and Purdy's 49ers. A Christmas cracker of NFL football awaits this festive weekend so make sure you are up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast! Merry Christmas!
Week 14 is in the books and somehow 30 teams are still live for playoff football, but some of them don't seem to pass the smell test. On the NFC side the Eagles have lost two straight games to the 49ers and the Cowboys losing their number one seed and division title for now, while the wildcard teams include the Packers (who lost to the Giants) and the Vikings (who have swapped QB again and put up only 3 points this weekend). They're chased by 4 more teams on the same record, each with their own problems. On the AFC side the Chiefs lost to the Bills and tried to blame the refs, the Dolphins lost to the Titans, all the wildcard teams are on their second or third choice QB, with 4 more teams tied on the same record in the hunt for those wildcards. Is there anyone you can trust in this race? Even the AFC leaders Baltimore struggled this week, needing overtime to beat the LA Rams. We look at all the games from last week, then turn our attention to week 15. Cleveland look to stay in the hunt with Joe Flacco under centre against a Chicago Bears team led a Justin Fields who is fighting to save his job for next season. Baltimore look to show they are the team to beat in the AFC as they take on a Jags team that's in a tailspin and hoping Lawrence, one more week removed from his ankle injury, will be back to top form. The Bills host the Dallas Cowboys in a must win game to keep their playoff dreams alive, and Philly hope to turn around the ship away to a Seattle team that is currently one game out of the playoff picture. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
Just when you thought the Bengals were out, Jake Browning pulls them back in! The Bengals pulled off the MNF upset over the Jags to keep their playoff hopes alive, and the AFQ boys are here to break down the action. We take a look at all the highlights from Week 13, including the puntless wonder that was the Cowboys' win over the Seahawks, the 49ers laying down a marker with a crushing victory over the Eagles, and big wins for the Packers, Colts and Texans. We also take a look at all the big injury news, as major losses at QB hurt the chances of multiple contending teams (and the New Orleans Saints). Finally, we turn our attention to Week 14, with previews of the Ravens' cross-conference battle with the Rams, the biggest game of two years ago with the Bills meeting the Chiefs, and the huge NFC East matchup between the #1 seed-chasing Eagles and Cowboys. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
WEEK 12 REVIEW + WEEK 13 PREVIEW As the playoffs come into view, some less successful teams are cleaning house early as the Carolina Panthers fire Head Coach Frank Reich after only 12 games in a season marred by poor offense, play caller flip-flopping and rumours of coach-owner disagreements stretching all the way to Bryce Young pick at #1 in the draft. The Commanders also clear out underperforming DC Jack Del Rio so we cover the implications of both these moves as well as the biggest transactions and injuries this week. In our Week 12 review, we give special focus to another Philly win where they pushed their luck to send the spiraling Bills into their bye with a loss and how the quality Jags held on for a vital win to hold off the feisty but inexperienced Texans. We also preview the Week 13 slate with particular interest in a AFC wildcard battle as the up and coming Texans look to beat the suddenly red-hot Broncos, a big cross-conference game as the improving Rams look to the take down an ailing Browns and the NFC Championship rematch as the 49ers travel to Philly to try and keep their #1 seed aspirations alive against the quality but lucky Eagles. So make sure you are up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters Podcast!
