The book explores an alternative history of scripture and its origins, challenging conventional perspectives. Wright contends that the Bible, written by a small group of scribes, serves as a social and political tome that shapes the world's destiny. Despite the complexity of its stories and enduring relevance, the Bible is not a book of pat answers but one full of questions. Wright discusses his work at a Gwinnett Public Library author talk at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 15th. Get more stories like this at gwinnettdailypost.com STORY 2: Key Roads in Gwinnett County being considered for 'Smart Corridors' transformation Georgia Department of Transportation Commissioner Russell McMurry highlighted projects in Gwinnett County aimed at transforming key roads into "smart corridors." These corridors will employ technology to transmit information, such as traffic signal status and roadwork updates, to vehicles on the road. The projects involve running fiber optic connectivity to traffic signals and control devices along Buford Highway, Arcado Road, and State Route 120. The smart corridor initiative, a collaboration between the state and Gwinnett County, aims to enhance connectivity and prepare for future transportation technology, where cars will communicate with traffic signals for improved safety and efficiency. Gwinnett County police responded to a medical call, finding nine people being treated by fire officials. While the substance hasn't been lab-confirmed, witnesses claimed it was cocaine. Investigations are ongoing to identify the source of the substance. Three individuals were taken to the hospital, while the others declined transportation. Mukasey argues that “the 14th Amendment's Insurrection Clause” would not apply to former President Donald Trump. Meaning he could not be deemed ineligible to hold office again. Mukasey writes, “[a] good deal of attention has focused thus far on whether the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was an ‘insurrection or rebellion' and, if so, whether Mr. Trump ‘engaged' in it. Those questions, however, need not be answered until two preliminary questions of law are addressed: Is the presidency an ‘office . . . under the United States,' and was the presidential oath Mr. Trump swore on Jan. 20, 2016, to support the Constitution taken ‘as an officer of the United States'?” He continues: “The latter question is easier. The use of the term ‘officer of the United States' in other constitutional provisions shows that it refers only to appointed officials, not to elected ones. In U.S. v. Mouat (1888), the Supreme Court ruled that ‘unless a person in the service of the government . . . holds his place by virtue of an appointment . . ., he is not, strictly speaking, an officer of the United States.'” You can read the full editorial here: https://www.wsj.com/articles/was-trump-an-officer-of-the-united-states-constitution-14th-amendment-50b7d26?mod=opinion_lead_pos5 4:15pm- While appearing on CNN with Erin Burnett, Harvard University Law Professor Laurence Tribe explained that Donald Trump should be deemed ineligible for public office under the 14th Amendment. During the interview Tribe referred to George Washington University Law professor Jonathan Turley as a “hack.” 4:35pm- Dr. Victoria Coates— Former Deputy National Security Advisor & the Vice President of the Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss accusations that Elon Musk cut Starlink satellite access to Ukraine in order to prevent them from attacking a Russian naval fleet in 2022. Shaheen responded, “we've got to look at circumstances on the ground.” Senator Sheldon Whitehouse was asked a similar question and said: “That would depend.” 6:15pm- On Thursday, Senator JD Vance (R-OH) attempted to pass the “Freedom to Breathe Act”—effectively forbidding federal mask mandates. It was ultimately blocked by Senator Ed Markey (D-MA). 6:20pm- While appearing on CNN with Erin Burnett, Rep. Lumen is farming this vineyard gone wild and it's making the best Pinot Noir there is... Photo: The Wild King Vineyard, Courtesy of Lumen Be forewarned! This is a pretty dorky and technical show. Some of you say you would like to hear what wine people talk about when we're together: here it is! Will Henry, co-proprietor at Lumen Wines in the cool climate AVAs of Santa Barbara, returns to the show (he was on Ep 259) to tell us a story about a vineyard he happened upon that is changing his ideas about how viticulture should be approached in California. Photo: Will Henry and Lane Tanner (not married, BTW, just business partners!) Courtesy of Lumen Will had recently purchased the Warner Henry Vineyard (named after his late father who founded the Henry Wine Group, introducing people all over the US to small, family-owned) up in the Solomon Hills of the Santa Maria Valley AVA. He was focused on that and one of his vineyard contractors mentioned an unpruned, unirrigated, and unattended vineyard that he kept passing as he drove up to Will's property. A few months later, Will got curious. He decided to get out of his car and walk the vineyard in August. What he found defied all conventions in California viticulture: in spite of it growing wild, it was some of the best Pinot Noir he had ever seen or tasted. It led Will down a path that many in Santa Maria Valley are following, and many more should follow, as he tries to answer the questions: Have we been doing viticulture all wrong? Does nature produce better grapes with less intervention in the vineyard? Will the “Wild King” Pinot from this vineyard, with its bright acidity, vibrant flavors and low alcohol be the best wine Lane Tanner, Will's partner (and acclaimed winemaker) has ever made? This was not the first time Will had seen this phenomenon – could he be on to the next big trend in wine (which is really the oldest way to farm!). Humans have a propensity to think in absolutes. For instance, fire the team member or keep them? Get divorced or have a baby? Consider this, the profound and innovative technologies tend not to be either or, but rather AND based instead. Who can we look too? Who can teach us an AND way of thinking, particularly when confronting the really big questions, the really big problems we face? You may love or hate people like Elon Musk, Richard Branson, or Jeff Bezos, but as a leader, you likely do want to know what drives them to extraordinary heights? One thing is certain, these individuals tend to be solution-based not in an either-or but very much in an AND way. So, let me ask you, do you know what or who got someone like Jeff Bezos to even think about big problems, particularly in an AND way? The answer may surprise you. It is a man who very few people today would even recognize the name of, a man who our guest today has made a fascinating movie about. The gentleman I'm referring to has inspired everyone from Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk to Star Trek creator, Gene Rodenberry. A man who, when you watch this movie, ‘The High Frontier,' may change your entire understanding of the possibilities and value of the new space race. Our guest on the next two episode is Will Henry, Producer at Multiverse Media. Will is a Filmmaker and Writer based in Los Angeles, CA. Born and raised in Princeton, NJ, Will later attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City as a Directing/Screenwriting double major where he graduated top of his class. Will began his career in development at Tribeca Film under Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro, and later as a Creative Executive at Cindy Cowan Entertainment. Will Henry then moved into the independent film industry as a Filmmaker and Writer shortly after relocating to Los Angeles, CA. He is the Senior Producer at Multiverse Media and has gained recognition for his first feature documentary film, The High Frontier: The Untold Story of Gerard K. O'Neill. Mighty Blue On The Appalachian Trail: The Ultimate Mid-Life Crisis
This week, we have four guests on the show, with Will Henry leading the way. Will tells us about his 1994 Appalachian Trail thru-hike. He also talks about meeting Bill Irwin, the blind hiker who hiked a few years before Will with his dog, Orient. Bill not only befriended Will, but he also changed the course of Will's life and career path. It's truly amazing when you consider the reach of the Appalachian Trail and the people who walk along it. You can check out the work that Will does with guide dogs here. https://www.guidedogs.com/ He also sent a few pictures of himself in 1994. Check out his Katahdin picture and the one of him fording the Kennebec. Epic!! Considering Will's canine connection, it seems totally appropriate that the final member of our Class of 2022 is going with his own dog this year. Dan Whitesides, aka Trumpet, and his dog FrankE are heading out in early April. You can follow Dan and FrankE via Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/whitehuskyadventures/ Also today, we have another conversation with Chris Casado, from TSX adventures. Chris talks about his new NextGen Education Program, and you can find out more about that at https://tsxchallenge.com/nextgen/. If you have an interest in this program or would like to help, or find out more, please email Chris at chris@tsxchallenge.com. Finally, Dom Tammaro is, to say the very least, as excited as he can be about his upcoming hike. Dom and Steve chatted about Dom's ongoing preparations. If you like what we're doing on the Hiking Radio Network, and want to see our shows continue, please consider supporting us with either a one-off or monthly donation. Wildcard Weekend was a bust and the guys will break it down and look at the divisional round. Can the Chiefs beat the Bills? Will Henry return to the Titans? Can a West Coast team win in Green Bay? Is Tampa vulnerable to the Rams? The guys will make their picks and talk about dfs players they like.
In this episode: We meet Will Henry, award-winning filmmaker, producer and writer of the documentary film The High Frontier: The Untold Story of Gerard K. O'Neill, released on September 15th of this year. Will is the Creative Director and Senior Producer at Multiverse Media, a media company focusing on space exploration and science and technology. He is also currently producing an eight-part television series in association with NASA, and is the writer and producer of The Legendary Podcast, a monthly podcast dedicated to sharing stories of perseverance and glory from the world's top athletes. In our conversation, Will discusses how he ended up working on the film, how long it took to take it from concept to release, how difficult it was to encapsulate a 30-year period of O'Neill's eventful life into documentary film length, how they were able to round up Gerry's family and associates to participate, and how much O'Neill's work then has inspired today's commercial space travel efforts. Discussing O'Neill's inventiveness, Will says, “He was a prolific inventor. He invented the particle accelerator; he invented the chambers that made that work. He also invented the precursor to GPS, and he predicted a lot of what we use today, you know — things like the Kindle to self-driving cars. And it's just incredible how way ahead of his time he was.” To learn more about the documentary, visit thehighfrontiermovie.com. We've got negative regression and positive regression (yes, that's a thing) candidates. The headliners are Aaron Rodgers (3:30) and Michael Thomas (10:30), but there is much more to cover. Regression QBs (18:30) include Kirk Cousins, Ryan Tannehill and Daniel Jones. RBs (31:00) include Nick Chubb, Derrick Henry and Miles Sanders. Can we really make much of Sanders's 2020 season? Will Henry's regression matter enough for him to be outside the Top 5 at RB? ... We move on to WRs (43:10) and discuss the all three Steelers guys! Chase Claypool needs more targets to score that many TDs. Do Diontae Johnson's drops matter? We also talk about the Panthers WRs and if they'll find the end zone more frequently. A lot of people's first experience of living and working abroad is as an ‘English as a Second Language' (ESL) teacher, often working for a language school. This can often be the first step towards a career at an International School and it a path followed by this week's guest Will Henry. Will worked as an English teacher in Taiwan before returning to the US to take his teaching certification with a program that places him in an inner-city school. This lead to him returning to Asia to work for a school in China. We talk about his career and adventures along the way. Listen on: iTunes / Podbean / Stitcher / Spotify / YouTube This podcast is sponsored by ‘AppsEvents'. We're a Google Education Partner and active since the launch of ‘Google Apps for Education' in 2006. We're a team of former educators, and experts in helping schools integrate Google into their schools and classrooms. Check it out over at appsevents.com and we can also host one at your school which is a great way to build a Google community amongst your staff to support each other, plus increase the profile of your school. It doesn't need to be a big commitment from the school and we can start with a small ‘bootcamp'. This podcast is also brought to you by Acer for Education. People ask us what Chromebooks we recommend for schools and after trying them all we always recommend Acer. We've been to Acer HQ in Taiwan to be part of product discussions and they are genuinely the best thought out, and most importantly durable devices out there. They are always innovating, including the first tablet running Chrome and the first convertible touch screen Chromebook. Will Henry, summer Student Ministries Intern. John 15:18-27 18 “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’ 26 “When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me. 27 And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning.

Feedback The Neapolitan Quartet by Elena Ferrante (rec’d by Michelle) Questions 1. Hello! My daughter is 10 and in the 5th grade. She has recently discovered all the Marvel movies and has watched them over and over. Some of the movies are a little…intense…but the genie is well out of the bottle, so . (I can’t say I’m too sad, because I love them also.) She also loves the TV show Agents of SHIELD. She recently asked me if she could read some of the Marvel graphic novels/comics. I haven’t read a lot myself—some Thor, Vision, and Black Panther, all of which I enjoyed very much. I handed her my Black Panther (Ta-Nehisi Coates), but she had trouble understanding it. The Thor and Vision I have read are graphic in the sex and violence department, which I’m not super crazy about her reading. So… Are there any Marvel graphic novels appropriate for her age group? And before you rec Ms Marvel, she really wants to read about these MCU characters she has fallen in love with. A little about her: She’s a prolific reader of fantasy, with particular loves for Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. She is reading The List, the Unwanteds series, and the School of Good and Evil series right now (and she’s always re-reading Harry Potter!). Anything you can recommend would be awesome! Thanks! -Brooke 2. My name is Candice, & my partner and I are driving from San Antonio, TX to Colorado Springs, CO for our first vacation. We would like to listen to an audiobook or two along the way; however, we would like something that we can both enjoy. Extra points for a book set in Colorado or with a Road tripping theme, though it is not required. We are both POCs, so an author that reflects that would be ideal. Trigger warnings include any form of sexual assault/abuse. To help: He’s an avid D&D player, and his reading likes include “Gritty Fantasy, Speculative Sci-Fi, & Witty Comedy”. His favorite authors are Brandon Sanderson, Issac Asimov, William Gibson, & Douglas Adams. He also really enjoyed the book Captain Freedom. My all-time favorite series is the Wayward Children Novellas by Seanan McGuire (Beneath the Sugar Sky was my Fav) & the Wayfarer series by Becky Chambers is a close follow-up. I am currently reading How Long ‘til Black Future Month by N.K. Jemisin, and cannot get enough of it. Other Science Fiction & Fantasy books of note for me are Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik, Circe by Madeline Miller, Roses and Rot by Kat Howard, & The Themis Files by Sylvain Neuvel. I also really love atmospheric thrillers & horror novels (the creepier the better). And if it helps, we both loved the Netflix show Russian Doll. Thank you so much for your book recommendation assistance! -Candice 3. I am currently in a reading drought. I am hoping that you will help me find a new series to enjoy. I have enjoyed Still Alice (Lisa Genova), an ember in the ashes (sabba tahir), snow child (eowyn ivey), the giver (Louis Lowry) and the Tattooist Of auschwitz (heather morris). Please help me find something similar. The snow child and the giver are my two all time favorite books. Open to anything minus non-fiction Thank you. -Kelsey 4. I am traveling to West Virginia in July for two reasons: 1. To visit my husbands family and 2. To do research for a short story that I’m writing about a haunted coal mine. For both these reasons, I want to learn a lot more about West Virginian culture, life, history, etc. I have already read Storming Heaven by Denise Giardina and The Stories of Breece D’J Pancake by Breece D’J Pancake and enjoyed both very much. I am not super picky, especially for something like this where I’m just trying to absorb as much knowledge about the history, culture, and how it shaped the lives of those in the region. I look forward to your recommendations — thanks! -Daniela 5. Hi all, I’m looking for some read-alikes for my sister and me. For my sister, I’m looking for a good book to get her as a graduation present. Her all-time favorite book is Girl Reading by Katie Ward, and I’ve heard her complain on multiple occasions that she can’t find anything else quite like it—which I would love to change! She generally tends towards magical realism, feminist literature, and something-is-slightly-off type plots (like in Never Let You Go by Kazuo Ishiguro). For me, I have a serious book hangover from Isabel Allende’s Island Beneath the Sea. I originally picked it up because it deals with the Haitian Revolution (I lived in Haiti for a year) but was just blown away by the style and mood of it; I’ve never so wanted to describe a book as sensual! I liked how the time moved so fluidly and the view points shifted subtlety but distinctly and also smaller details, such as the masterful way that Allende handled the continued rape of the main character, a slave woman, both as off-hand in the way that it would be treated at the time and yet as absolutely brutal and despicable. It doesn’t have to be set in the same era/place or deal with the same themes of slavery, etc; I just want something to make me Feel like this book did! THANK YOU, -C 6. Hello ! I Need some audiobooks recommendations. Something I can easily follow while doing my housework after baby goes to bed. One audiobook I LOVED was “The Year of Yes” I Would really like something non fiction again. Maybe some humour or a memoir but Nothing too sad please. Thanks -Stef 7. Hello wonderful people, I’m trying to deal with lots of the things right now. My wife is traveling a lot and I miss her. So I’m escaping into the world of monsters. Specifically 1890s-1920s monster hunter goodness. I recently read S.A. Sidor’s fury from the tomb and the Beast of Nightfell Hall as well as the 4 books in Rick Yancey’s Monstrumolgist series and am looking for more in that vein. I love the arcane vocabulary in those books as well as the sense of the exoticism of travel in the days before tv/ the internet. I also ADORE the relationship between Will Henry and Pellinore in the Monstrumologist. It’s so tortured and full of love and yet so horrible and that poor kid. Monsters are great but what I really need is a sense of the mysterious as well as a horrible sociopathic nihilist narrator voice combined with the inevitable longing for love and human connection. But monsters too if you can manage it. Thank you very very much and I hope you and everybody else has a great day. -Justin Books Discussed Captain Marvel Vol 1: In Pursuit of Flight, written by Kelly Sue DeConnick, illustrated by Dexter Soy and Emma Rios Spidey Vol. 1: First Day by Robbie Thompson, illustrated by Nick Bradshaw Peter and Ned’s Ultimate Travel Journal by Preeti Chhibber, illustrated by George Clements and Stéphane Kardos (out June 4) The Prey of Gods by Nicky Drayden (TW mention of sexual assault) The City in the Middle of the Night by Charlie Jane Anders The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden The House of the Scorpion by Nancy Farmer Sugar Run by Mesha Maren (TW homophobia) What You Are Getting Wrong About Appalachia by Elizabeth Catte John Henry Days by Colson Whitehead The Mere Wife by Maria Dahvana Headley (TW PTSD) The Book of Night Women by Marlon James (many trigger warnings) My Life with Bob by Pamela Paul Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan Borderline by Mishell Baker (tw: suicide, self-harm)
When I was visiting Santa Barbara County, I got to sit down with the Pinot Czarina herself, Lane Tanner. She is famed for her deep knowledge of Pinot noir winemaking in Santa Barbara, having arrived as only the second woman winemaker in the county in 1981. Since then, Lane has built a reputation as one of the top Pinot specialists in California and she is a pioneer and icon in SB County. She has had a long career and today, she is the winemaker and partner with Will Hentry Ep 259) in Lumen Wines, making exceptional single vineyard Pinot Noir, with great Chardonnay, Grenache, Grenache blanc and Pinot Gris to boot. Although accomplished, Lane is a total package – confident, strong, but kind and willing to share her story with us. We became fast friends and I can't wait to introduce you to her and her story in this show! Here are the topics we hit on: How Lane got into wine, how she met and was mentored (inadvertently) by the famed Andre Tchelistcheff Santa Barbara County in the 1980s -- the culture, the wines, and how it has changed Lane's ability to master nearly any task -- her "Inspector Gadget" -like quality to fix anything, and solve any problem (only she does it well and he did it poorly!) The importance of geography and geology to Pinot Noir in Santa Barbara. Lane's philosophies, how she came upon them, and why they yield such spectacular wine -- from picking decisions to pruning to clones, we cover it all! The trouble with scores and judging (she's been a judge before so we get some inside dirt!) How the movies "Sideways" and it's residual effects made Lane retire for a time. We talk Santa Barbara wine -- now and then. The present and future: Will Henry joins us again to help tell the the Lumen story and where it's going! We hope to have an Underground Wine Event next year in Santa Barbara! Stay tuned for details! Thanks to our sponsor this week: YOU! Will Henry, cartoonist of the syndicated comic strip ,”Wallace the Brave” stops by for a visit to talk about his strip, syndication and , naturally, Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Woodstock and Charles Schulz. Part 1 of 2!
Will Henry is a Goalkeeper for Swindon Town Football Club in League Two. He has also featured in the England U19 and U20 setups.
Will Henry, co-proprietor at Lumen Wines in the cool climate AVAs of Santa Barbara, talks about his life in surfing, environmental activism, photography, and wine. He educates us on Santa Barbara and helps us understand why the region is world class. Will is partners with Lane Tanner, a force in the Santa Barbara wine industry who help jump start the region in the 1980s. Lumen makes wines that are beautiful examples of how the cool climate of Santa Maria Valley, Sta. Rita Hills, and surrounding areas can result in restrained, yet sunkissed wines. Awesome stuff!! Here are the show notes: Will tells us how he made the jump from sociology major to cellar rat, then to surfing photographer and philanthropist, and now to winery owner (he’s been busy). We talk about the various appellations of Santa Barbara and why it makes such fantastic wine. We discuss the grapes and wine styles too! Will and I debate the effects of the movie 2005 movie Sidewayson Pinot Noir and Santa Barbara as a wine region. We discuss why Paso Robles has, in recent years, been so much more popular than Santa Barbara as a tourist destination and why we should all go visit SB! We get a glimpse into Lumen – Will and Lane’s philosophy and why they do what they do. (Spoiler alert: Lane Tanner will be on to give us a more in depth look at the winery next season!). Today I will be reviewing the episode Season 1 Episode 5 Part 1 Walk Pool which aired on October 14,1984.This is another mini episode only 12 minutes long. In this episode we see Henry taking on the herculean task of walking Punky and her friends to school. In this episode we are introduced to three new characters Margaux Kramer, Allen Anderson, and Scotty Lotabucci. Only two of these cast members stick around for the show. One listener tells us about his bus riding days as a child here in America and internationally. Actor Regina Hall (Scary Movie) stopped by to talk about her latest film People Places Things, written and directed by James C. Strouse (Grace is Gone). The film stars Jemaine Clement as Will Henry a newly single graphic novelist balancing parenting his young twin daughters and a classroom full of students while exploring and navigating the rich complexities of new love and letting go of the woman who left him. Regina plays Clement's love interest. Bonus track: Star Wars, Batman v Superman, and Civil War news ABOUT REGINA HALL Staking claim on her fame with her role in the comedy-horror spoof Scary Movie, Regina Hall has frequented the big screen in roles that far from betrayed her age. Born in 1971 in Washington, D.C., Hall earned a degree in journalism from N.Y.U. before embarking on a film career. In 1997, she began appearing in commercials at age 26, and then made the giant leap into movies. Her recurring role in Scary Movie and the sequel Scary Movie 2 exhibited the 30-year-old's ability to maintain her youthful appearance, as she portrayed the high-school-aged Brenda Meeks. Hall's first film role had come in 1999 with a small role in Malcolm D. Lee's drama The Best Man. The following year, she made several film appearances, including her starring role in Scary Movie. In addition, she played small parts in two films directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the drama Love and Basketball, and the TV movie Disappearing Acts, featuring Sanaa Lathan and Wesley Snipes. In 2001, Hall's list of credits grew to include her first television role, as Corretta Lipp on the prime-time drama Ally McBeal, which was a recurring role for several episodes. Also that year, Scary Movie 2 was released, in addition to the Mandel Holland comedy The Other Brother, featuring Hall as Vicki. One year later, she starred in the action-drama Paid in Full, directed by Charles Stone III. She reprised her role as Brenda Meeks yet again for Scary Movie 3 (2003) and Scary Movie 4 (2006), and played
