Week 4 is in the books and has left a few fans wondering how their team is going to shake out this season. Derrick Henry racked up over 200 yards in the Raven's demolition of the Bills, but should the Buffalo faithful be worried? Sam Darnold led the Vikings to a victory over the Packers in a game that was in hand, until it wasn't in the 4th quarter, but should cheeseheads be down in the dumps? The Chiefs are 4 and 0, but have lost another player to injury, can this offence last the season at this rate? We look at all of last weeks games, preview all the week 5 matchups, and look forward to the AFQ trip to London to see Aaron Rodger's Jets take on Sam Darnold's Vikings. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
It's Week 3, and like many a recent season, we have very little sense of who's good and who's a fraud. The 49ers might be frauds, based on their collapse against the injury-hit Rams. The Bengals, who dropped to 0-3 after their defense was completely incapable of stopping the Jayden Daniels-inspired Commanders offense, probably are frauds. As for the Chiefs, who stumbled past the Falcons, and the Lions, who looked solid against the Cardinals, the AFQ boys are a little more upbeat. Andy Dalton's performance against the Raiders suggests that Bryce Young at least is a fraud; and the Eagles and Saints' offensive struggles against each other asks many fraud-related questions too. We break down all the action from Week 3, focusing on those six games. We also look at the recent news, from Derwin James's suspension to the latest collection of players added to the league-wide injury crisis. In our Week 4 previews, we focus on a big NFC North battle between the surprising Vikings and the impressive Packers, another potential pasting for the Jags as they travel to the hurting Texans, and a big test for the impressive Bills as they host the always dangerous Ravens. All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The more things change the more they stay the same, this is true for at least half of the NFC South as AFQ takes a look at the Falcons, Saints, Panthers and Buccaneers. The Falcons are the biggest changeup, new coach in Raheem Morris, new QB in Kirk Cousins; but potential controversy with Michal Penix Jr. being drafted as the heir apparent to their $200 million QB that has yet to take a snap? The Panthers are hoping to turn around the fortunes of last year's top draft prospect Bryce Young. They've got him a QB friendly coach in Dave Canales, a possible WR1 in Xavier Legette, and about 15 new linemen to try to keep him upright. Have they done enough to turn the corner? The Buccaneers are big fans of their own work from before and would like more of it please. Even though they barely scraped into the post-season and have a roster that feels more 2019 than 2024, they're running back Baker, Evans, Godwin and the gang. They've shown they've got the recipe for mild success; they are happy with mild success it seems; but they've got to hope those ingredients haven't gone a bit stale. The Saint are definitely stale. An aging roster with a mid-at-best QB, talent that is long in the tooth and cresting if not already over the hill, a lack of vision from the coaching staff, and several players penciled in as starters that may not be ready to go come September. That said, they have no money so cannot be blamed entirely for the lack of innovation, and have brought in some interesting pieces to the defensive side of the ball (Willie Gay, Chase Young etc), but can that be enough? THE SOUTH SHALL RISE AGAIN (AFC SOUTH PREVIEW) Our divisional previews reach the AFC South this week, a previously dull as dishwater division that has been transformed into a quartet of exciting projects built around exciting young QBs (and Will Levis). The AFQ boys break down their thoughts and predictions for all four teams. Will the Titans at least become a more interesting watch during the Brian Callahan era as they pivot away from Derrick Henry towards a new-look offence? The Colts have the hype, the talent and the coaching, but can it all come together and can Anthony Richardson stay healthy long enough for his potential to be realised? After breaking free of their history and becoming playoff contenders, can the Jags figure out how to take the next step forward and help Trevor Lawrence become the superstar he has always threatened to be? And can last year's surprise package Houston Texans keep the party going with CJ Stroud feeding an immensely talented WR corps and a fun but inexperienced defensive unit continuing its evolution? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
Draft day is here and there's no Kevin Costner to walk you through it, but that's ok. The AFQ boys are back with an episode going through all the top prospects in this year's NFL draft. Do you know your Drake Mayes from your JJ McCarthys? Are you unsure if Joe Alt is a superstar lineman or a fascist movement online? Do you think that Kool-Aid is just a drink and not the next big thing at cornerback? We've got you covered. We go position by position, telling you what the strengths and weaknesses of the first-round prospects are and where they might fit well. We let you know the knocks on them coming out of college so you can make fun of your buddies' team for drafting the wrong defensive lineman or missing on a sure thing WR. We'll tell you everything you want to know but couldn't be arsed to go and research yourself. We also cover news from around the league, Rashee Rice's legal issues, and look at the players that have signed fat contracts. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
IN TOMLIN WE TRUST? (FREE AGENCY REVIEW) It's free agency season in the NFL and teams have been scrambling to fill gaps in their rosters and load up on valuable talent. Well, that's the theory anyway. The AFQ boys break down all the big moves and questionable decisions and ponder how it will impact the NFL landscape going forward. As well as a position-by-position breakdown, we focus on the actions of three teams in particular: - The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a big change to their QB room, getting rid of Kenny Pickett to bring in both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Will this gamble pay off, or will the old saying that having two starting QBs mean you have no starting QBs come to pass? - The Tennessee Titans have entered the Brian Callahan era with a bang, bringing in skill players Calvin Ridley and Tony Pollard on the offensive side and loading up on big names defensively, including a tasty-looking CB pair. In an increasingly competitive AFC South, will this be enough to make the Titans relevant, or at least an interesting watch? - The New York Jets are firmly in win-now mode, adding a slew of O-line talent to protect Aaron Rodgers' vulnerable Achilles as well as a new weapon in Mike Williams. Can the Jets escape the gravity of their own chaos to be competitive this year, or will the Jets inevitably be the Jets? We also take a look at other recent NFL news, focusing on the rule changes recently approved by the owners. The new kickoff rules sound unnecessarily complex, but will they result in more successful returns or just messy scrums on the 30-yard line? The hip swivel tackle has been banned, but will this make tackling impossible in the NFL and how will close cases be interpreted? All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
It's the most important pod of the year – the Pro Bowl Review. The AFQ boys break down the highlights and lowlights of the biggest weekend in the NFL calendar, from Tua's underwhelming passing to Brandon Aubrey being screwed over by the Kick-Tack-Toe judges. We also mourn the demise of the glory days of the Pro Bowl, when the game itself mattered and the team that won it actually won the Pro Bowl. Needing to fill the rest of our time, the guys then turn to preview some obscure game called the ‘Super Bowl', contested this year by the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. Can the Chiefs offense succeed against a high-calibre defense without leaning too heavily on the lesser lights of their disappointing receiver corps? Can Brock Purdy be relied on to step up if the 49ers offensive game is placed on his shoulders? And how jetlagged will Taylor Swift be if she manages to turn up to cheer on Travis? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The playoffs are where the wheat is separated from chaff and, oh boy, was there ever some chaff to be culled this year. The AFQ boys break down the (not so Super) Wild Card Weekend action, laughing at the Cowboys and Eagles, cooing over the potentialities of the Texans and Packers, and being very grateful that we don't live in Buffalo or Kansas City at this time of year. We also break down the latest news, including the beginning of the offseason coaching carousel, with the Pats taking a gamble on the well-regarded but horribly inexperienced Jerod Mayo and big interviews announced for the Chargers and Falcons head coaching positions. We then turn to preview the Divisional Round, perhaps the most consistently enjoyable weekend on the NFL calendar. Can CJ Stroud figure out how to unlock the complexities of the Ravens' defensive scheming? Do the promising Packers have enough to overcome the uber-talented 49ers? Will the Bucs find themselves out of their depth against the resurgent Lions? And will this finally be the year the Bills take down the Kansas City Chiefs? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The last time the Detroit Lions won their division, not only did the NFC North not yet exist, but neither did Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You". A simpler time, perhaps a better time. The AFQ boys celebrate the historic achievement of Dan Campbell's boys by breaking down the ins and outs of their crucial victory over the Minnesota Vikings. In our survey of the Week 16 action, we also look at the Miami Dolphins finally beating a good team (maybe), the Baltimore Ravens laying down a marker as best team in the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs' embarrassing loss that confirms they are anything but. We also preview the Week 17 fare, focusing on the Lions' trip to Arlington to face the Cowboys, the Dolphins' and Ravens' big game to decide the AFC's #1 seed, and the crucial moment in Mike Tomlin's quest to finish every season above .500 as he takes his Steelers to Seattle to tackle the Seahawks. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
Just when you thought the Bengals were out, Jake Browning pulls them back in! The Bengals pulled off the MNF upset over the Jags to keep their playoff hopes alive, and the AFQ boys are here to break down the action. We take a look at all the highlights from Week 13, including the puntless wonder that was the Cowboys' win over the Seahawks, the 49ers laying down a marker with a crushing victory over the Eagles, and big wins for the Packers, Colts and Texans. We also take a look at all the big injury news, as major losses at QB hurt the chances of multiple contending teams (and the New Orleans Saints). Finally, we turn our attention to Week 14, with previews of the Ravens' cross-conference battle with the Rams, the biggest game of two years ago with the Bills meeting the Chiefs, and the huge NFC East matchup between the #1 seed-chasing Eagles and Cowboys. All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
Six walk-off FGs in one week, including a Broncos retake after the Bills have too many men on the field, and a seventh one missed by Carolina - week 10 in the NFL certainly had a distinct theme. The AFQ boys break down all the action, focusing on four of the six FG-won games: the Stroud-led Texans continuing their assault on our expectations (and our hearts) with a win over the Bengals; DeShaun Watson finally turning up for a half to lead the Browns to an unlikely comeback over the Ravens; the Lions winning a shootout against the oh-so-predictable Chargers; and the Bills' error-strewn, crisis-beckoning loss to the Broncos. We also cover all the week's news, plus previews for Week 11. Will the Bengals or the Ravens bounce back from their defeat to win on Thursday night? Are we really expecting the Broncos v the Vikings to be fun and chaotic? And who will come out on top in the Chiefs-Eagles Super Bowl reprise on Monday Night Football? All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop for all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
Trade deadline is here and there are a lot of players moving around the NFL. The “Young and Sweaty” Defence in Washington will be repping Chicago and San Fransisco, Josh Dobbs will be trying out the colour purple, and the Raiders decided to fire their coach and GM instead of getting in on the action. We also look at last weeks games and how they change the NFL landscape. Are the Chiefs cooked? Are the Titans now watchable? Will the Giants versus Jets game go down as an all-time flop? Finally, the AFQ boys break out our crystal balls and tell you how all of this week's matches are going to go down, their key matchups, and if they're worth watching. All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop for news, views, and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
I GOT THE SKILLS TO OUTPLAY THE BILLS (WEEK 7 REVIEW + WEEK 8 PREVIEW) It's Week 7 of the NFL and that means it's time for some high-calibre teams to be declared outright frauds. This week, it's the Bills and the 49ers in the hot seat after disappointing defeats, while the Eagles and Ravens defied fraudom with statements wins over the Dolphins and Lions respectively. The AFQ boys break down these four games, and also analyse big wins for the Browns and Steelers, plus all the latest news around the league. In our previews of Week 8, we ask if the Pats can keep the momentum going and score another big AFC East win over the Dolphins, who will win the battle of "New York" as the Giants and Jets clash, and if the bye-week fresh Bengals can bring more hurt onto the ailing Niners. All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The Jags ruled the roost in London while a Bills team sleepwalked into a surprisingly one-sided loss, and most of AFQ were there to see it. The 49ers showed themselves to be the class of the NFC with a demolition of the Cowboys and Jonathon Taylor got paid! The AFQ boys break down all the games from last week, how injuries and signings are going to impact teams moving forward and preview the matchups for week 6. All this and more on your one stop shot for news, reviews and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters Podcast.
It's Week 2 of the NFL's Taylor Swift Experience, and while Brittany Mahomes was partying with Taylor and her celebrity pals in the VIP suite, her husband Pat struggled to shake off the attentions of the Jets' defense and Zach Wilson, long the anti-hero of the Jets' fanbase, showed he was capable of looking like a competent NFL quarterback. The AFQ boys break down all the action from Week 4 of the NFL season, focusing on the Chiefs' ugly win at MetLife Stadium, the blockbuster AFC East matchup between the Bills and the Dolphins, and big wins for the Eagles, Broncos, Rams and Chargers. We also preview the Week 5 action: Can the Washington Commanders prove their spiciness with a comprehensive destruction of the hapless Bears? Will the Jags and Bills finally deliver a good London game between two competitive teams? And who will earn the early statement victory when two of the NFC's most impressive teams, the Cowboys and 49ers, meet on Sunday Night Football? All this and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters Podcast!
Who would be a NY Jets fan? The brave new world of the Aaron Rodgers era at MetLife Stadium lasted only four plays before a season-ending injury left Jets fans staring down the prospect of another season of Zach Wilson. The AFQ boys break down all the action of Week 1, beginning with the drama and tragedy of the Jets-Bills game, but also taking in big wins for the Lions over the Kelce-less Chiefs, the Dolphins in a dumb but fun shootout against the Chargers, and the highly impressive Cowboys over the hapless Giants. We break down all the games from Week 1, bring you the latest news in big contract signings and heartbreaking injuries, and take a look at the slate for Week 2. Can the Jags show they belong at the top table of the AFC by taking down the Chiefs? Could the Bengals start another season 0-2 by falling to the Ravens in a big divisional matchup? And can Bill Belichick weave his defensive magic one more time to stifle the high-flying Dolphins? All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
This week the guys get a call from the Lovely Aundria, of AFQ fame, and Mark smokes an old favorite the JdN Consul and they all go "Walking through the park and reminiscing." Tell a friend, tell a hobo... As always, send us questions and comments to theretrohale@gmail.com Thanks for listening, ENJOY IT!
The AFQ boys complete their divisional previews by focusing this week on the NFC West, a division with possibly both the best and the worst team in the NFL. Are the Cardinals really planning to start Colt McCoy Week 1? Could this be the 49ers' year? Are the Rams stuck between a complete rebuild and trying to run it back one more time? And can the Seahawks surprise everyone again? All these questions and much, much more on your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The AFQ boys continue their tour around the league with a preview of the upcoming season for the NFC South, perhaps the most uninspiring division in the entire National Football League. How will the Bucs adjust to the post-Brady era? Is the Arthur Smith Falcons projects anything to get excited about in its third year? Why does it feel like the Saints are still living under the shadow of the Payton/Brees era? And do Panthers fans finally have a reason to be optimistic about the future? All this and much, much more at the one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
This week the AFQ boys look at the AFC West and figure out can anyone unseat the Chiefs as the head of this table? Following a difficult to watch first season with Russell Wilson, the Broncos have brought in Sean Payton to try to right the ship. Can he turn it around, and does he have the power to bench Wilson if things aren't going their way? The Chargers, ever the off-season darlings, have been relatively quiet this year. The removal of Joe Lombardi is a positive for the offence, but this might be last chance saloon for their head coach if they can't get over the hump or at least, not drop a 20 plus point lead in a playoff game. The Raiders are looking to setup Patriots Nevada edition with Josh McDaniels, Jimmy G, Jacobi Meyers and an athletic rookie TE. They have some top players like Davante Adams, but for some reason feel a little flat. Could this be the calm before the storm? Finally, the Chiefs, the defending Super bowl Champions. They've lost a number of players to free agency, there are question marks at WR, some movement in the offensive line and a young defence, but is it still a case of in Pat Mahomes we trust? Last year was meant to be a reloading year, so what is the ceiling on this team? All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop to news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The AFQ boys turn their attention to the often-overlooked AFC South ahead of the upcoming season. There's been a lot of change underway in the division with Richardson joining the Colts, but will he be able to make a year one impact? The Titans have ruled the division in recent years but started to slow last year, has all the marrow been sucked from the Tannehil/Henry bone or do they have another year left in them? The Texans look to finally have some stability at head coach with DeMeco Ryan joining, but can a roster with that much turnover cobble together a title contender? And the Jaguars had a huge comeback win in the playoffs over the Chargers and were rounding into form at the end of last year, can Lawrence take the next step up with the return of Calvin Ridley and another year in Doug Pederson's system? All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop to news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The AFQ boys continue their divisional previews for the season ahead, this week focusing on the AFC North. Can the Ravens get back to business now that the Lamar deal is done? Will the Bengals start to get the respect they deserve this year (and can they resist the temptation to re-sign Eli Apple)? Will the Browns be sent to football hell where they belong, or will Deshaun Watson prove there is no God be returning to elite status? And is Mike Tomlin actually bad for the Steelers in the long run? All this and much, much more from your one-stop shop to news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
S08E22: POUR ONE OUT FOR THE PRO BOWL (CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIPS REVIEW) And then there were two. After one close game and one not-so-close game, the lineup for Super Bowl LVII has been set with the Philadelphia Eagles meeting the refs... I mean, Kansas City Chiefs. The AFQ boys break down the Conference Championship games, looking at what happened and why. Did the 49ers ever have a chance without a functional QB? Are the Eagles overhyped? Will the Chiefs be able to field any receivers in the Super Bowl? Were the Bengals screwed over, or did they just fall short in the big spots? We also preview the travesty that is still referred to as the "Pro Bowl". We ask if the best weekend in football will ever be the same, and we break down the rosters to talk about who we would be sending to Vegas. All this and much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters Podcast!
E19: SO LONG, CHAFF! (WEEK 18 REVIEW + WILD CARD PREVIEW) 271 games later, the 2022 NFL regular season is finally over, and 32 teams have been whittled down to an elite playoff cohort of 14 (well, a mostly elite cohort, at any rate). The AFQ boys break down all the Week 18 action, featuring the possible end of the Aaron Rodgers era, the cap on an incredible turnaround by the Jacksonville Jags, and big wins for the Seahawks, Bills and Dolphins (plus an inexplicable win for the Houston Texans). After the pod duly acknowledges Sean's prediction mastery, the team turn to the Wild Card Round. Do the Seahawks and Dolphins have a chance? Will home advantage count for the Bucs and Jags? How papery are the paper tigers Vikings? And can the Bengals go all the way to the Super Bowl again? All this and much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions on all things NFL, the All Four Quarters Podcast!
E16: Week 15 Review + Week 16 Preview Another week of NFL is in the books, and we were treated to more of the usual madness, including the "greatest" comeback in NFL history. The AFQ boys break down the Week 15 action, featuring the Vikings' comeback against the Colts, the Bills big win over the Dolphins, and crucial wins for the Jags, Giants, Lions and Chargers. We also preview the Week 16 action, focusing on a big TNF battle with wildcard connotations between the rising Jags and the stuttering Jets, a major NFC East battle between the Eagles and Cowboys, and a crucial clash between the streaky Dolphins and the recovering Packers. All this and much more from your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions NFL, the All Four Quarters podcast!
The Bengals come up big versus the Chiefs, San Fran beat the Dolphins, we have a draw between the Giant and Washington, yet all we can wonder is why did the Titans fire Jon Robinson? We take a look at all of last weeks games, then focus in on the big upcoming matchups for week 14. Can Detroit keep it going against the Vikings? Can the Steelers overcome and injured Ravens team on a slide? Will Russell Wilson score a touchdown this week? All this and much, much more from the AFQ crew, your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL!
It's Thanksgiving in the NFL, and while some teams are quite tasty, most are obviously turkeys. The AFQ boys break down the Week 12 action, focusing on a bounce-back win for the Vikings against Belichick's defensive magic, a good performance for the injury-hit Bengals against AFC rivals the Titans, and wins for the Bills, Browns, Jags and Chargers. We also look at the Week 13 games, focusing our previews on a big AFC East clash between the Bills and Pats, an AFC Championship rematch between the Bengals and Chiefs, and a cross-conference game between the impressive Dolphins and 49ers. All this and much, much more from the AFQ crew, your one-stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL!
The NFL held its first game in Germany and AFQ were there to take in all the action. We saw a resurgent Brady knock off a jetlagged Geno, the Bills stutter and fall out of the number 1 seed in the AFC, the Philadelphia Eagles came up short in a big spot to the Commanders, and with an overtime win over Dallas, could Aaron Rodgers and the Packers still make the playoffs? We also look at the gathering clouds around Washington's Ownership, what injuries are going to hurt the most as we come into the business end of the season, and our predictions for next weeks games. All this and more on our one stop shop for all things NFL, the All Four Quarters Podcast.
Week 6 is in the books and with the NFL season now one-third done, we have a better sense of which teams are contenders (the Bills, Eagles and Chiefs, basically), which teams are spicy (the New York teams) and which teams are frauds (everyone else, but especially the Ravens and the Packers). The AFQ boys break down the Week 6 drama, focusing on a classic clash between the Bills and the Chiefs, another Ravens collapse (this time against the Giants), and big wins for the Colts, the Steelers, the Bengals and the Jets. We also look ahead to the Week 7 "action", previewing an AFC North dogfight between the Browns and the Ravens, Dak's return for the Cowboys against the Lions, and the Giants' chance to go 6-1 against the fading Jags. All this and much, much more as we keep you up to date with all the latest news, views and overreactions to all things NFL with the All Four Quarters podcast!

This week AFQ went to London to see the Dolphins take on the Jags, watched Sean's Patriots lose in a heart breaking overtime loss, saw Geno Smith start for Fitz's embattled Seahawks, and maybe saw a spark of life in Conor's beleaguered Chiefs in their second half versus Washington. The Titans defeated the Bills, the Ravens moved to number 1 in the AFC, Cleveland lost a ton of players to injuries and Arizona added Zach Ertz in a trade. This has been quite the eventful week! All this and more in your one stop shop for news, views and overreactions to all things NFL, the All Four Quarters Podcast!

Here are the show notes for Episode 10 "234U". The show is called "234U" because: We are very happy that we can talk about z/OS V2.3 now that it's been previewed on February 21, 2017. We liked the consecutiveness 2-3-4, and U added works nicely. Mainframe Our "Mainframe" topic was a highlight of some of the newly previewed z/OS V2.3 enhancements! We will surely talk a lot about z/OS V2.3 in podcasts to come. First, it is important to know that z/OS V2.3 will only IPL on an zEC12, zBC12 and higher. Prepare now if you need to. Here's a brief list of the items planned for V2.3 (which is planned to GA on September 29, 2017) System logger's log stream staging datasets can be allocated greater than 4 gigabytes. Data set encryption for z/OS data sets and zFS file systems (policy-enabled), and CF structures (list and cache, with the CFRM policy). zFS: zEDC compression on individual files, and existing and new zFS files systems. Existing zFS while in use! Salvage utility to run online with file system is still mounted Dynamic changes to aggregrate attributes for common MOUNT options, and dynamic changes to sysplex sharing status. New facility (from TSO or UNIX shell) to allow for migration from HFS to zFS, without requiring the "from" file system to be unmounted. email: ability to have an email address in the RACF user profile. JES2 and z/OSMF could use email notification to the user. JES2 JCL, the delimiter keyword (DLM) on SYSIN is extended from 2 to 18 characters long. SCRT is a component delivered in z/OS, with support for enabling ISVs to generate an ISV-unique SCRT report. Auto-starting z/OSMF be default, late in the IPL hopefully after OMVS and TCP/IP are up. The biggest migration action in z/OS V2.3 identified yet. TSO/E support for 8 character userids. Many products require changes to support this, so do planning for this one. Performance Martin had an esteemed guest for our "Performance" topic, Elpida Tzortzatos, Distinquished Engineer from z/OS Development. Martin and Elpida chatted about several important recent advances made in the area of z/OS memory management. Review of UIC (Unreferenced Interval Count), which is how long in seconds a page has remained unreferenced. High count is low contention, low count is high contention. Since moving to large memory (64-bit, zArch), the design changed to reduce the review frequency from 1 sec to 10 seconds. When more memory support was added (128G to 4TB) it was again reduced to not do any UIC updates, other metrics are used to judge contention instead. We're now deep into the run-up to the draft and there's a lot to cover as the hype, and free agency, rumbles on. There's coaches moving around, players retiring, finding new homes, looking for a new job or in some cases, looking for a good defense attourney. This week the AFQ team cover off all the free agency moves from around the league, pick out the big winners and losers and start looking at how we think the NFL draft will shake out. Welcome to a new episode of the LinkedInformed podcast. I seem to have had a frustrating week with LinkedIn - glitches and weird mystery settings have somewhat go in the way of productivity! LinkedIn Typo’s I was working with a client this week and spotted several spelling mistakes in their LinkedIn profile. This person is highly intelligent and definitely knows how to spell, The problem is they didn't take their time and pay attention to detail when writing their profile. This got me thinking about how common this might be so I conducted searches for some commonly misspelt words and here are the results; Mangers (Managers) Here are the companies with the most Mangers! Catagory (Category) Beleive (Believe) And then there are plenty like this!! Seriously though, it’s obviously easily done. Check your profile carefully, double check it and then get someone else to check it! You only get one chance to make a first impression with your profile, make sure it’s the right one! The 5C Business Development System is now for sale! ….and for a limited time it’s discounted by a massive 63%! I’m really proud of this course, I was looking at some of the earlier lessons and I actually started recording the videos 9 months ago! It’s taken a lot of work to get to this position and it doesn’t end here as I will need to update all the ‘settings’ lessons with the new design. The 5C system contains 5 modules as below; In total there are 65 videos covering every aspect of using LinkedIn as an effective business development tool. I’m very excited to see how people react to this course and I hope you can take advantage of the limited time launch price (just £146 but only for the next 7 days, then it will be £396). I am also giving away a free e-book to those who expressed an interest in the 5C System. Click on the Image below to get your free LinkedIn toolbox. Interesting stuff I saw this week Job seekers getting caught up in online scams Will This Year’s College Grads Job-Hop More Than Previous Grads? How dare you put that on LinkedIn! Cool Thing Typorama Images are critical to the success of status updates so I strongly advise using images in the majority of your updates. A fantastic tool that can help you produce great looking images is Typorama. I produced the image below in seconds as well as the main header image of this page. AFQ Question: LinkedIn has removed messaging someone before accepting their connection request. Apart from using InMail is there another way to send them a message before choosing to accept or not? Answer: LinkedIn haven't actually removed this feature but they have made it harder to find! On the Mobile app you can only reply to a customised invitation but on the desktop version you can reply to any invitation before accepting as follows; Hover over the invites icon (top right) and click on ‘see all’ as below; 2) Now hover over the speech bubbles in the top right of an an invitation card and click on the arrow to reply Now I have a question for you! Whilst updating the settings lessons in my 5C training system this week I came across the following new setting in the communications section. This is found under Communications > Basics > email frequency > Notifications I have no idea what this setting controls! Any ideas? I’m wondering if it might be notifications about people viewing my profile but if so it’s a very poor and misleading title! I have asked LinkedIn and they seem stumped! Someone is running around trying to find the techie who wrote the code to get a definitive answer…..it’s been 3 days so far!
Welcome to a new episode of the LinkedInformed podcast. I have had an exciting and rewarding week with the successful launch of mine you social selling and business development e-learning programme. The 5C Business Development System is now for sale! ….and for a limited time it’s discounted by a massive 63%! I’m really proud of this course, I was looking at some of the earlier lessons and I actually started recording the videos 9 months ago! I am also giving away a free e-book to those who expressed an interest in the 5C System. Published posts lose view numbers….Does it matter? I noticed this week a change to publish posts in both the main mobile app and the pulse app. Publish posts are no longer showing the number of views in these apps. Interestingly for now anyway, posts on the desktop version of LinkedIn are still showing view numbers This got me thinking….. Does it really matter how many people view our posts? Surely a post that has a low number of views but a higher number of comments and likes is better than one with high views and low engagement? Maybe this is where LinkedIn are going with this……. Or maybe it's just a glitch! I think I would still like to see the number of views but I definitely think we should all be concentrating for more on engagement statistics. I also refer to this is the AFQ section below. Interesting stuff I saw this week LinkedIn Launches Private Cloud for Growth My name is Barbara Roberts but please call me Barbie!! Social media use and depression linked in large study LinkedIn has snazzy new offices in San Francisco (see pics below) Cool Thing Profile views extension Especially useful if you are notion a premium account but you are also able to see past 90 days so potential of use to premium members as well. And of course, it’s free! AFQ Question: How do I get more views of my published post. I am averaging about 100 per post which doesn’t seem very much. Answer: Firstly referring to my point earlier, views are not the key measurement to worry about - the aim with content is to develop relationships and trust and this is largely done through engagement (comments). That said, you need the views to get the engagement so here are my thoughts; Getting more views involves a planned 'marketing' exercise that should look something like this Make the post engaging. Ask questions to encourage comments and always reply to any comments, this helps with distribution. - Don't rely on notifications to get views. Always post status updates to promote your post, ideally using a large, attractive image. (type the update, paste the link to the post then delete the link with the thumbnail image and add a large image (quite possible the same one) in it's place. This will be 5x the size of the thumbnail. Repeat this status update across several days and at different times. Sharing OPC (other people's content) allows you to share more of your own. If all I see from you is (perceived) self promotion then I switch off, if however 60% of what I see (your updates) is OPC and clearly helpful to me then I will take more notice of your own content. Be persistent, views take time to grow - overnight success is rare and mostly luck. Make sure your follower settings are set to 'everyone' In summary, posts need to be widely distributed via a series of status updates plus Twitter and Facebook posts if appropriate.
Another LinkedIn week goes by and not much changes….the share price keeps dropping and I see numerous articles about the drop in standards and unprofessionalism of LinkedIn!……Tough times for Mr Weiner and his gang! As I have somewhat neglected your questions in recent episodes I thought I would focus on the AFQ section this week…..first a few interesting articles I read this week; This Is Why Shares of LinkedIn Are Way Down Today. It seems investors have really fallen out of love with LinkedIn and the share price continues to plummet…do they have a point? How Do I Master That Skill? LinkedIn, Markle Want To Help. LinkedIn introduce a new service called ‘Training Finder’ initially in Pheonix and Denver. An example of LinkedIn’s increased focus on training as part of their Economic Graph. How I Made $10,000 in One Month on LinkedIn (And You Can Too). This article is not what you think from the headline! It sounds like another ‘get rich quick’ piece but it’s actually a sensible and practical example of how to use LinkedIn effectively…worth a read. I see a lot of posts about the demise of professional standards on LinkedIn, this is one of the better ones; Why I’ve LinkedOff. I have mixed views on this subject, I don’t want to go back to the days when LinkedIn was, frankly boring! I don’t enjoy quizzes and inappropriate sexual images but I do think people should be free to post anything relevant to their business or career. LinkedIn definitely need to address this issue and I’m pretty sure they will….my concern is that they won’t do it very well and we will all suffer as a result…..be careful what you wish for folks! AFQ I’m promoting this section up the agenda this week! On the subject of inappropriate content on LinkedIn, I got this question this week; It has come to my attention that some porn stars/sex workers are appearing in my profile!! How can I stop this? ANSWER: They were of course referring to the ‘people also viewed’ section of their profile, here is an example of what can happen; Not great! The problem is you would see this yourself, the only way you would find out is if someone told you! The solution is to switch off this feature in your settings. Go to the main ‘profile’ section of your settings and you will see the link as shown below. Next question: How do I a) Get more profile views and b) Get more invitations to connect? ANSWER: Have you got your settings so that people can see when you visit their profile? If not change it. Increase your activity, post more updates and try to use more images in your updates. Ensure your picture is professional but friendly and your headline very clearly explains who you are and what you do (not a job title). Put your email at the top of your summary and encourage people to invite you to connect. Make sure your profile isn’t too 'corporate' and lacking in character/warmth/authenticity. People care much less about brands and companies. Getting more profile views will have a knock on effect and you will automatically get more invitations. Cool Thing Profile Views extension. If you are using LinkedIn on a free account you are only able to see the last 5 people who viewed you profile……unless you use this very useful Chrome extension. This extension saves all your LinkedIn profile views and stores it for you to see the full history at anytime Take full advantage of who's viewed your profile on LinkedIn. This extension saves every individual that viewed your profile. -See beyond the 5 recent views limit -View full histories of every profile view at any time -No upgraded profile needed -No limit on 90 days if upgraded account And of course, the best bit is….it’s FREE! The 5C Business Development System is now for sale! ….and for a limited time it’s discounted by a massive 63%! Just click here for more information
