Snooki, Tigger… Corporal Justin Fineberg is a man of many names but a singular purpose: to get the bad guys so victims can sleep peacefully at night. His hometown of Boston almost got to keep him, but when color-blindness disqualified him up there, he succumbed to the lure of our snow-free winters and joined PCSO. Now he's a member of the K-9 unit and along with his dog Beau (“because he's handsome like his daddy”) he's apprehending some of the worst offenders in the county. He's also one of the unit's trainers, and knows how to get inside the heads of some of the most intense dogs you've ever met. One of the hardest things for a new handler to learn is how to find their voice – their praise voice that is. When the dog does what he's supposed to, a handler has to give him positive reinforcement by getting goofy and talking in a high-pitched funny way. Your tail might wag too if Corporal Fineberg praises you in his special voice. Tune in to this episode of 56 to go fishing with K-9s, explore the jungles of Pinellas, fall down a hole in the darkness, and find out how someone goes from being one of the boys to a true leader.
Talk about rising through the ranks! Chief Deputy David Danzig is the number-two man at PCSO, second only to Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, and has done just about everything at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office (PCSO). Coming from a law enforcement family, he knew he wanted to be a cop practically since he was a baby. In fact, his reward for potty training was a ride in cruiser running lights and sirens. From his first arrest (charge: Cat Running at Large) to his first week as the new chief, he's never had a bad day at work. Despite the many challenges of law enforcement, he has always loved his job, whether he was working in the Marine unit where he saved lives with the right combination of “skillset and guts” or leading the Violent Crimes Task Force that reduced homicides and gun crimes in the county. It's a peculiarity of law enforcement that as you rise through the ranks, once you get comfortable somewhere they move you somewhere else. But Chief Danzig thrived wherever he went because of a collaborative leadership style and a willingness to learn. In this episode, we talk about Chief Danzig's career, and why he thinks the resiliency, strength, knowledge, and training of today's PCSO deputies makes them the greatest generation of law enforcement officers.Email us your questions and suggestions at lets56@pcsonet.comFollow PCSO: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTubeFollow 56: InstagramPCSO Website
In this episode we talk with Detective Jason Plumb, who has spent a lifetime saving lives, first as a paramedic, then as an officer in the insanely busy Rochester, New Hampshire PD. A chance meeting with some PCSO deputies made him think the grass might be greener down here. It certainly was – and not just because it wasn't covered in snow half the year. He liked it so much he even brought five of his friends down from his former agency. How's that for recruiting? Since joining us, he's had his share of adventures, including being a lead car in one of the most famous pursuits our agency ever had. Now he works in the innovative Mass Casualty Planning Unit. Hear about the work he's doing to make private schools safer and get our entire county ready to deal with an active shooter, natural disaster, large-scale accident, or any other mass casualty event. Plus find out if nips and bubblers means what you think it means.Email us your questions and suggestions at lets56@pcsonet.comFollow PCSO: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTubeFollow 56: InstagramPCSO Website

In this episode we talked with “the world's most uninteresting man,” Deputy Chuck Skipper with the Crime Prevention and Community Awareness Unit. If you've seen some of our creative safety videos, Chuck's face is a familiar one and you know he's anything but uninteresting. He has a passion for crime prevention and will do almost anything on camera for the sake of good messaging, but there's so much more to Chuck than that. He shares his humble beginnings in the wings of the Marion County Jail where he encountered some of Florida's most notorious serial killers and discusses the realities of working the road in a rural county – where backup is seemingly hours away when you're in a fight surrounded by extremely dangerous poultry. You'll learn about his PCSO experience investigating often gruesome crashes, traffic enforcement from the air, the latest scams ravaging vulnerable populations, and all things crime prevention...all on the latest episode of 56.Email us your questions and suggestions at lets56@pcsonet.comFollow PCSO: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTubeFollow 56: InstagramPCSO Website

In this episode I sit down with current Pinal County Sheriff's Office Lieutenant, Ross Teeple, who is running to succeed Sheriff Mark Lamb and take over as America's next Sheriff. We discuss his upbringing, Navy service as well as his time with the Arizona Department of Corrections and then eventually hiring on with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office as a patrol deputy. We cover his time rising through the ranks to eventually become a lieutenant/commander and how he was asked to run for sheriff to continue the legacy and good works that has been created by the outgoing administration at the Pinal County Sheriff's Office and what his leaderships style will be moving forward and how he will be there to protect the residents of Pinal County's constitutional rights. We also cover what he effectionately calls "going through the gift shop" and how the PCSO is working to assist those who have had run-ins with the law, and how they will be assisting those who just need some help to get back on their feet. Pinal County has been thrust into the spotlight for many reasons regarding the fentanyl crisis, border crisis and the highlight by Sheriff Lamb has done on these issues, as well as the spotlight on Deputy Frank Sloup and their wildly popular, Friday's with Frank series that shows the public what the day in life of a traffic deputy looks like and what Ross's outlook would be to continue to build the trust with the community. In this episode we talk with PCSO's answer to Bones – only better because she's real! Dr. Meredith Tise is not only a forensic anthropologist, she's also our Forensic Quality Assurance Coordinator, making sure that our Forensics Division is held to the highest standards. She started in a morgue as a teenager, and her work has taken her from the border to body farms as she perfected her knowledge early in her career. She was involved in the excavation at the Dozier School for Boys, uncovering the remains of children and young men who suffered under terrible conditions and died at that notorious facility. She has also helped bring lost WWII service members home, from a pilot who crashed in a dogfight in Germany, to hundreds of Marines killed on the tiny Pacific island of Tarawa. She's our go-to expert for any unidentified bones found in the county – even if they're more often pig knuckles from crab traps than evidence of a homicide. Hear about some of the most fascinating cases she's worked here at PCSO and in her entire career.Email us your questions and suggestions at lets56@pcsonet.comFollow us: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTubePCSO WebsiteSuncoast ForensicsHistory Flight

In this episode we talk with the man himself, Sheriff Bob Gualtieri. It's hard to believe he was once an innocent young rookie taking calls for noise complaints and trespass warnings, but those who have heard him call out, “Car 1, 10-50,” on his way home know he hasn't forgotten his roots. Sheriff Gualtieri started out at the Pinellas County Jail and was an officer in Dunedin before joining the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office as a deputy. Hear stories from his long stint in Narcotics, Find out why he left law enforcement for law school, and learn how he made his way back to PCSO. He's an honorable man, motivated by a strong sense of right and wrong, respect for the truth, and contempt for bullies. He's been in brawls, he's been in pursuits, he's arrested murderers… which makes him perfectly suited for fighting for law enforcement legislation in Tallahassee. Most of us have heard of blood sugar…and likely because you know someone who has type 2 diabetes, type 1 diabetes, or struggles with hypoglycemia (or low blood sugar). We all have sugar in our blood to varying levels based on what we've just eaten, how active we are, what type of activity we're undergoing, and what else is happening inside our bodies - like fighting infections or dealing with stress. When your blood sugar is not controlled, it can be too high or too low - both of which are unhealthy, causing damage, and potentially can be life threatening. Blood sugar imbalances can come in the form of high levels far too often, low levels too often, or swinging from too high to too low throughout the day. If you have uncontrolled blood sugars, you may experience low energy, inability to focus or recall information, you may be sleepy before or after eating, you may struggle to lose weight or gain it easily, you may have hypertension, you may have elevated cholesterol or triglycerides, you may also have digestive issues like leaky gut, diarrhea, constipation, bloating, or heartburn, and you may have other imbalances like hypothyroid, PCSO, erectile dysfunction, or Alzheimer's. The injunction blocks enforcement of the ban on hormone therapy until further court orders or a trial. Now, don't go check this out in your refrigerator unless your pickles were bought very recently, as this is a fairly new phenomena. But if you go to your local supermarket and peruse the "pickles," you will see pickles of all kinds described as "spears," "chips," "sweet," or "gherkins," or "dill," etc., but the word pickle is no longer there. Pickle companies will not give a reason for dropping the word pickle from their labels. That is odd, and it seems they all made the change to abandon the word, "pickle," at about the same time. Because of this, I could never really bring myself to go.” Seth King “never really like the people so i'm indifferent” Gaby Stoneburner “the only thing decent there is the ranch” Taylor Downey “They couldn't have closed because of money because cheap food and only paying 9$ an hour to employees must have been making a good profit. In this episode we talk with Major Adrian Arnold, who currently oversees our Judicial Operations Bureau but whose 30 year career includes stints in nearly every part of the agency. His entire future was launched with a single trial ride-along in Michigan, but the promise of snow-free winters combined with the idea that being a Florida cop would be a little like Miami Vice lured him to the PCSO. Major Arnold was on the forefront of the Community Policing movement, at a time when law enforcement was starting to realize that a close connection with the community and addressing neighborhood problems like street lighting can make a world of difference in preventing crime. Hear why driving a Mustang for a cruiser isn't as fun as you'd think, why the sheriff tore up his promotion memo in his face, and how one drunk lady gave him a candy-coated nickname that lasted his whole career.Email us your questions and suggestions at lets56@pcsonet.comFollow us: Facebook | Instagram | Twitter | YouTubePCSO Website

Police Officer Julia James was off duty walking her dog when Callum Wheeler murdered her in the most brutal way without reason. He didn't even know who she was.21 year old Callum Wheeler hadn't had a job since he left school at 15. He had no interests and no friends, he would later be described as a "complete and utter loner" whose life "consisted of nothing".PCSO Julia James on the other hand was an amazing person, she served as a Domestic Abuse Support Officer for 13 years, she was greatly loved by her family and her community. This video includes police body cam footage from Callums arrest (and from an abandoned 999 call he made) as well as the CCTV evidence used against him.--------------DISCLAIMERThis is a real, UK True Crime Case, so it's important that if you share or comment you do so with the appropriate sensitivity. This bumper episode comes in two parts.Part One: Alex and his family attended an international buffet at Radbrook Community Centre. This event featured 22 countries who brought along food to share with members of the community. Alex spoke to organiser Kate, participants from the different nations that they represented, the Mayor of Shrewsbury Elisabeth Roberts, members of the PCSO and the police. This was fun.Part Two: Alex and Verity sit down with Vince Dovey and Neville Street who are representing their company 1st & Bowery. It seems that every time Vince comes on the show, he has created something new to help protect people. This time Vince and Neville have created a product that can not only help with drink spike detection, but also help keep a database of where detections are discovered. But Shrewsbury has is a "purple patch" when it comes to the town's nightlife, with what Vince calls a nice, safe reputation. So why do we need tech like this in a town like Shrewsbury? Well this is discussed at depth. This product partners up drink test strips and tech in a way that is unique, which makes Vince and Neville pioneers. It seems like not only is Shrewsbury the birthplace for this product, but the town would be the perfect place for it to be rolled out. Alberts Shed is onboard but more clubs and bars are needed to really test this product out. If you would like to find out more please visit the 1st and Bowery website - https://1standbowery.co.uk/
