Send us Fan MailOne ride along and a passion for public service. That's all it took to change everything. My guest on the show today, Sheriff Mark Lamb, walked away from a successful business career, stepped into a police academy in his thirties, and never looked back. He went on to become one of the most recognized law enforcement figures in America. On this episode of the Cops and Writers Podcast, we take a look at how it all started for Sheriff Mark Lamb. Welcome to part one of this incredible story. Part two airs next Sunday.More about Sheriff Lamb. Mark Lamb is known as "America's Sheriff.” He served as the 24th Sheriff of Pinal County, Arizona, overseeing a county the size of Connecticut with over 600 employees. Before entering law enforcement, he was a business owner for over a decade and didn't join law enforcement until his thirties, yet he quickly rose through the ranks. Valedictorian of his training class, Rookie of the Year, Officer of the Year, and Detective of the Year.He served as sheriff from January 2017 through December 2024, and ran for U.S. Senate in 2024, losing the Republican primary to Kari Lake. He's now running for Congress in Arizona's 5th Congressional District. No matter what your political persuasion is, I think his message needs to be heard, and I'm grateful he took the time out of his busy schedule for this interview. In today's episode, we discuss:· Growing up in different countries and how that helped him later in life as a cop and person.· Being a teenager and trapped in Panama during Operation Just Cause.· His calling to be of service.· How one ride-along changed his life forever. · The benefits or drawbacks of being “older” in the police academy.· His first job in law enforcement was as a tribal police officer on an Indian reservation.· Being a white man working on an Indian reservation as a police officer.· The lessons he learned from the natives while he was policing on the reservation.· An epidemic of missing and murdered women on Indian reservations.· Why did he run for sheriff? · His opposition attacking him and his family during this and previous elections through mudslinging, and him taking the high road. Ørsted, a Danish renewable energy giant, is trying to lease 4,000 acres of Casey's state grazing land in Arizona to build an industrial solar array - land that he depends on for winter range, without which the ranch isn't viable.Casey believes productive grazing land shouldn't be touched when there's no shortage of barren desert, parking lots, and brownfields that could take solar instead - and the companies could do it if they wanted to, they just won't because it's cheaper and easier to go after open range.Casey Murph is a fifth-generation cattle rancher in northeastern Arizona. Host Kyle Macdonald sits down with CEO Jason Manwaring to unpack three big themes shaping multifamily right now: The top 20 U.S. submarkets for new apartments since 2021 (Phoenix & Dallas dominate), Phoenix August 2025 sales comps—why price-per-unit for 100+ unit deals matched 10–99 unit deals, and A national take: multifamily cap rates stabilizing as rent growth bottoms and supply gets absorbed. They compare Phoenix's short-term oversupply (and distressed buys at 40–45% discounts) with Flagstaff's near-zero pipeline and 100% occupancies, then dig into ABI's monthly comp set (from Kierland's $419k/unit to distressed buys near $137k/unit). The macro segment hits rate cuts, dry powder returning, and why rent growth, not just rates, could drive cap rates lower from here. What You'll Learn Where supply really landed: Phoenix submarkets (Avondale/Goodyear, West Glendale, South & Central Phoenix, Gilbert, Pinal County) vs. peers like Austin/Dallas/Houston/Nashville. Operator playbook in oversupplied markets: bank-negotiated distress, buying below replacement cost, turning C→B to expand the buyer pool. Flagstaff contrast: moratoria, no new supply, full occupancy—why the strategy flips to renovate & hold. August 2025 Phoenix comps: ~$289k/unit for both 100+ and 10–99 unit buckets (rare parity), with build-to-rent/newer product pulling averages up. Debt & underwriting now: permanent loans over bridge, prove-out rent bumps with current comps, not wishful pro formas. Macro inflection: first 25 bps Fed cut, loan originations and equity fundraising up, institutions favoring multifamily & industrial again. Cap rates & rents: why stabilizing rents (from ~1% toward ~2.25–2.5% next 12–18 months) may be the key driver of cap-rate compression—more than rates alone. ⚠️ Disclaimer: Educational discussion only—not tax, legal, or investment advice. Barry Todd returns to the podcast, but this time he brought a friend, Sheriff Mark Lamb. Paul started by having both Barry and Mark give a high level summary of their backgrounds. Barry and Mark are, on the surface, unlikely friends. Barry had a terrible ordeal with the U.S. justice system and Mark was a two time elected Sheriff of Pinal County, Arizona. They are friends though because they are honorable men, share a lot of the same perspectives on a variety of subjects and they discussed what they like and respect about each other. The three of them had a great discussion about Barry's case, the justice system and how all of us, no matter who we are, can make changes and make a difference. Paul ended with what advice Barry and Mark would give to his 23 year old son and young people that are starting out. Their advice was outstanding!

Mark Lamb is the unapologetically bold, newly-retired Sheriff of Pinal County, Arizona, who made national waves for bringing old-school grit and modern media savvy to law enforcement. Serving from 2017 to 2024, Lamb wasn't just a badge and a gun—he became a digital-era lawman, turning to YouTube to share raw, unfiltered police footage while regularly appearing on FOX News, Newsmax, Live PD, and 60 Days In. Known for his no-nonsense stance on border security, Lamb stepped into the political arena in 2024, launching a U.S. Senate run to replace Kyrsten Sinema—only to be edged out in a high-profile primary battle by Kari Lake. After nearly two decades of service and a reputation that stretches far beyond Arizona, Sheriff Lamb officially hung up his badge on December 31st, 2024—but he's far from done making noise. #sheriff #LEO #navyseals #sherifflamb #arizona #lawenforcement #backtheblue Subscribe to the Mike Drop Patreon Page to see Ad-Free Episodes Early + Bonus Content at https://www.patreon.com/mikedrop ---------- Support Mark Lamb - Get Your Copy of Mark's Book 'American Sheriff: Traditional Values in a Modern World' and 'American Sheriff: Rules to Live By' at https://www.sherifflamb.com/ Website - https://www.sherifflamb.com/ Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/americansheriff/ X - https://x.com/sherifflamb1 Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/sherifflamb ---------- Sponsors: C. Episode 141 Doe ID: Evelyn 'Dottie' Lees On June 28,1988, the remains of a woman were found in a remote area of Pinal County, AZ along state Route 79 South of US 60. The body was found in a shallow grave, and appeared to have been placed there with care leading police to believe that someone close to her may have placed here there. She was determined to be an elderly woman and it appeared that she had been strangled to death. She has been there for about a year. Police were stumped as they didn't have any missing women that matched her description in the area. The case of this Jane Doe went cold until years later when genealogy finally provided answers. She was Evelyn "Dottie" Lees, a grandmother who was in her late 80's when she died. Investigators learned that Evelyn had never been reported missing, and for years following her death, benefit checks to her were being cashed. A background check revealed that Evelyn, who had spent her life in Utah, had moved to Arizona at the insistence of family. Since this family member, who Evelyn lived with at the time of her death was never reported missing, it has caused investigators to view them with suspicion. The only problem is, those family members that may have had answers, all died before Evelyn was identified. If they had any answers, they took them to the grave. This Jane Doe has her name back; it's Evelyn 'Dottie' Lees, and this is her story.

It's not the people flooding across the southern border affecting Arizonans, but rather what some of the illegal immigrants carry with them. Illegal aliens don't stay in his state, according to Pinal County, Arizona Sheriff Mark Lamb. Instead, they travel to “California, Massachusetts, New York, Chicago, Iowa, Alabama,” the sheriff rattles off. “But what we are feeling is, just like every state and every American family, we're feeling the effects of fentanyl,” he said. An estimated 74,702 people died from fentanyl poisoning in America in 2023, a slight decline from the 76,226 fentanyl related deaths in 2022, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Lamb argues that the fentanyl crisis should be discussed more in the news and during the 2024 presidential election but is not because “to talk about it would mean you'd have to accept responsibility to it, and to accept the responsibility would cost you an election.” The Harris campaign did not respond to The Daily Signal's request for comment. The sheriff joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to discuss what to expect on election night in Arizona, one of seven swing states, and the role the border crisis is playing the way Americans are voting this election.
Part 2: Dr. Phil goes to the Arizona and Texas borders looking for solutions. We are just a few days away from the 2024 election and there's one topic that's got everyone from Washington to Main Street talking…the border crisis. Both sides agree that work needs to be done to secure our southern border. Dr. Phil first heads to Arizona to find out why there is a super-highway for illegal crossings down there. It's been nicknamed the "Smuggler's Highway" …right on Interstate 10, which runs through California and Arizona. It's become the most popular route for smugglers from Mexico. But Sheriff's deputies in Pinal County, say it isn't just cartels smuggling migrants…it's American teenagers. Right in the thick of it all, Sheriff Mark Lamb says the drugs and people being trafficked through this "highway" are ending up in cities all across America. In fiscal year 2023 alone, Arizona had more than 775,000 illegal border crossers. That's a whole lot of people slipping through the cracks. Sheriff Lamb tells Dr. Phil how he attempts to wrangle this situation. Plus Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels tells Dr. Phil that in the last 31 months, there have been 500 to 600 pursuits coming through his rural county. Dr. Phil talks to the Vice President of the Border Agent Council, Art Del Cueto, who says the media is not reporting much about Arizona's border issues. Art says he has solutions if anyone would listen. And we head to Eagle Pass Texas where Dr. Phil spoke to several people working on the frontlines. He asked them THE hard questions that you won't see anywhere else. And US Southern Border Expert, Jason Jones says human trafficking at the border is the largest US intelligence failure since 9-11. If you are looking for answers to your questions about the border, this episode has the answers.
